Only 3 lakh beneficiaries receive COVID-19 vaccine till date
India currently faces an unusual situation as opposed to the world where there is plenitude of vaccine shots available but very few from the frontline health care workers had shown interest, while many others skipped the immunisation drive citing safety concerns. As of Monday, only approximately 56% of eligible individuals to get the jabs have come forward in the nation.
On the twelfth day of the vaccine drive, a count of 23,28,779 beneficiaries have been vaccinated for COVID-19 through 41,599 sessions tracked as per the data released in the evening of January 27, according to a provisional report of the Union Health Ministry.
As on January 27, a total of 2,99,299 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 7.00 pm in about 5,308 vaccination sessions, the ministry notified The ministry reported 79 percent of beneficiaries vaccinated on Wednesday are from five states — Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
As per the latest update, there have been a total of 16 hospitalizations, which is 0.0007 percent of the total people vaccinated till date, additional secretary in the Union Health Ministry Dr Manohar Agnani stated.
Vijaysai Reddy: SEC must take the responsibility of corona deaths during election process
As the Supreme court declared a verdict in favour of Andhra Pradesh SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, YCP leaders are targeting the SEC.
Recently, YCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy made it clear to the SEC that the whole responsibility should be taken if the people die due to coronavirus during the election process.
Ramesh Kumar hasn’t responded to Vijay Sai Reddy’s comments. But one of the senior leaders of TDP, Chinthakayala Ayyannapatrudu gave a counter to Vijay Sai Reddy’s remarks.
As Vijay Sai Reddy is asking SEC to take responsibility for corona deaths during the election process, Ayyanna asked whether the YCP govt will take responsibility of total 7,150 corona deaths in AP.
Against this backdrop, YCP is asking the SEC to give a compensation of Rs. 50 lakhs for each person who may die due to coronavirus during the election process.
Samantha: Trolls used to give me sleepless nights

AP Gram Panchayat Polls Stakeholders Asked To Avoid Friction And Expenditure
Amaravati: Government Advisor (Public Affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has appealed to all stakeholders in the Gram Panchayat (GP) polls to strive for unanimous elections to avoid friction and expenditure and make use of the incentives announced by Government.
Elders must sit together and sort out the issue as the polls are being held on non-party basis, he told media here on Tuesday adding the recently amended legislation has a provision for disqualification and jail term for any irregularities.
On the positive side, incentives can be availed for unanimous elections though vested interests are planning otherwise.
Putting aside Parshad elections and taking up only GP polls is beyond comprehension raising doubts, he said.
Those taking part in these elections should only focus on the development of their village leaving party and politics behind. The State government has brought many fundamental changes in the villages, even went by taking the administration to the doorstep through village secretariat and volunteer system. He said that a conspiracy to incite hatred is going on in the villages by the opposition leaders and advised the contestants not to fall in their trap.
Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy warned that anyone proved guilty of conspiracy and violence would be disqualified under the law brought by the government, those found enticing in the election could face up to two years in prison and will be disqualified for six years. He explained that there should be more unanimous elections, as the government has enhanced the incentives to those villages ranging from Rs 5-20 lakh, based on the population. He said that there would be room for parties and perseverance in the Gram Panchayat elections and everyone should try for unanimous election instead of provoking people and encouraging groups.
He further said that leaving the MPTC and ZPTC polls in the middle and bringing up GP elections seems to be skeptical about the State Election Commissioner (SEC). He said that it was strange that the Election Commissioner, who accepted the unanimous elections last March, has now taken a turn saying that they will have to take a look at it. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has made changes in the law to make local elections more transparent and initiated radical and positive changes in the state.

Vice President praises DRDO for self-reliance in missile tech
HYDERABAD: Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday praised DRDO scientists and engineers for taking India close to self-reliance in missile technology with their hard work and perseverance.
After inaugurating two new facilities at the Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Missile Complex here, he visited the exposition of technologies by Missile Complex Laboratories and said that he was elated to see the indigenous products.
“I felt reassured about the security and capability of the country given the tremendous progress made by DRDO scientists in developing self-reliant missile technology,” Naidu said.
He expressed confidence that DRDO experts will ensure that Atmanirbhar Bharat will attain a position from where the world will be Bharat Par Nirbhar (dependent on India).
Noting that the Akash missile system has recently been put into the negative list of items for import by the defence ministry, he called it a commendable achievement by the DRDO.
“It means that India is now self-reliant in this kind of missile system and so the armed forces need not import similar missile systems”, he said.
Referring to the limitations faced by India in having access to high-end missile technology of developed countries prior to the signing of Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) in 2018, he said that DRDO turned this crisis into an opportunity by developing a range of indigenous missile systems. India, he said, was now trying to shift its status from being one of the largest importers of defence products to one of the top exporters of defence items.
Referring to the rapidly changing technological landscape, the Vice-President asked DRDO to redefine its focus on strategic defence technologies and outsource activities that can be carried out by capable private sector participants.
Maintaining that India’s fight against Coronavirus tells a successful story of containing the virus, Naidu said that Indian heroes in this fight were police forces, medical fraternity, scientists and technologists and providers of essential commodities and services.

BJP-Jana Sena will contest AP Panchayat elections: Nadendla Manohar
The Supreme Court on Monday has paved way for the commencement of the Local Body polls in Andhra Pradesh by giving its nod for the polls, hearing a plea filed by the state government.
In its orders, the Supreme Court has directed the state government to cooperate with the State Election Commissioner(SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar to see that the polls are held without any issues.
Following the country’s top court giving a green signal to the polls, the political parties in the state have focused on drawing campaigns to win the Local Body elections.
To discuss about Local Body polls, the Andhra Pradesh chief of Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) Somu Veerraju has met the leaders of the Jana Sena party on Wednesday.
After the crucial meeting, Somu Veerraju and Janasena Party affairs chief Nadendla Manohar addressed the media to clear all the airs on the BJP-Jana Sena contesting the polls.
Nadendla Manohar told the media that the BJP-Jana Sena alliance will contest the Panchayat elections. The alliance will give preference to the youth in the selection of candidates for the elections, he said.
Manohar alleged that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is intimidating the contestants of the other parties to see that their party leaders win the polls.

Iran, Taliban officials say US pushing war in Afghanistan
TEHRAN: Iranian and Taliban officials met in Tehran on Wednesday and accused the U.S. of provoking the continuation of war in Afghanistan, Iranian State TV reported.
Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, told visiting Taliban political chief Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar that the U.S. seeks to continue the war in neighboring Afghanistan.
“The U.S. strategy supports the continuation of war and bloodshed among various Afghan groups in the political spectrum,” Shamkhani was quoted as saying. He said the U.S. tries to blame insecurity and instability in the country on individual Afghan groups.
There was no immediate comment from the U.S., which signed a peace agreement with the Taliban last February and met its goal this month of reducing the number of troops in Afghanistan to about 2,500.
Taliban representatives and the Afghan government earlier this month resumed peace talks in Qatar, the Gulf Arab state where the insurgents maintain an office. The stop-and-go talks are aimed at ending decades of conflict. But frustration and fear have grown over a recent spike in violence, and both sides blame one another.
Baradar, who arrived Monday with a Taliban delegation, criticized the U.S. for allegedly breaking its commitments to the February deal. He did not elaborate.
“We do not trust the U.S. and will fight any group that is a mercenary for the U.S.,” he said.
Occasionally, Iranian and Taliban officials meet for what Tehran says are talks aimed at helping facilitate intra-Afghan dialogue.
Iran sees the presence of U.S. forces in neighboring Afghanistan and Iraq as a threat on its doorstep and routinely calls for their departure. Iran and Afghanistan have some 945 kilometers (some 585 miles) of common border.
