Rukmini Vasanth Eyes Pan-India Comeback After Box Office Setbacks
Sandalwood’s rising star Rukmini Vasanth has hit a rough patch with her recent releases. Her second Tamil film, Sivakarthikeyan’s action drama Madharaasi, which hit theaters last week, received mixed reviews and struggled to make an impact at the box office. After an average opening weekend, the film could not sustain momentum, and trade analysts predict it may end up as a disappointing venture.
This marks a hat trick of flops for Rukmini, following her previous releases—Nikhil’s Appudo Ippudo Eppudo and Vijay Sethupathi’s Ace—both of which underperformed commercially.
However, the talented actress has an exciting slate ahead, with three eagerly awaited pan-India projects on the horizon. She will next be seen in Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, NTR-Neel’s Dragon, and Yash’s Toxic.
While many Telugu audiences expected NTR-Neel’s Dragon to mark her Tollywood debut, it was actually Nikhil’s Appudo Ippudo Eppudo that introduced her to the Telugu audience.

AP High Court Clears Pawan Kalyan to Act in Films
When Pawan Kalyan took a brief break from his administrative duties to participate in the promotions of Hari Hara Veera Mallu, critics raised concerns about the constitutionality of his actions. Former IAS officer Vijay Kumar filed a petition alleging that Pawan misused government funds and machinery to promote his film. The petition also claimed that, as a serving Deputy Chief Minister, Pawan’s involvement in movies was unconstitutional.
However, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has clarified that there is no legal restriction on Chief Ministers or ministers acting in films. The court also noted that, at this stage, no directions could be issued to file a counter in the case against Pawan Kalyan.
During the hearing, AG Dammalapati Srinivas, representing the state, cited a precedent from a full bench ruling involving former Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao, reinforcing that ministers can legally act in films.
Meanwhile, advocate Bala, representing the petitioner, alleged that Pawan Kalyan may have abused his position to influence ticket pricing and requested the court to summon all relevant records regarding the matter.
The case continues, but the High Court’s ruling has for now cleared the path for Pawan Kalyan’s participation in movies without legal hindrance.
Sai Durgha Tej’s Pan-India Film Sambarala Yeti Gattu Nears Completion
Mega Supreme Hero Sai Durgha Tej’s pan-India venture Sambarala Yeti Gattu (SYG) is approaching the finish line, with just two major action sequences remaining. Directed by Rohith KP and produced by K Niranjan Reddy and Chaitanya Reddy under the prestigious Primeshow Entertainment banner, the film is being mounted on a grand scale with a ₹125 crore budget.
After a brief pause due to the industry strike, shooting is set to resume mid-September. The next schedule features a spectacular action sequence choreographed by Peter Hein, showcasing SDT battling foreign fighters on expansive sets. This will be followed by the climactic showdown, where SDT goes head-to-head with a Bollywood superstar portraying the lead antagonist. Completion of these two high-octane sequences will mark the wrap of the entire shoot.
Post-production is already underway, with CGI and VFX work in full swing, promising a grand cinematic experience across multiple formats. Sai Durgha Tej is set to appear in a never-before-seen avatar, delivering what is expected to be his most intense and powerful performance to date, backed by rigorous training for the role.
The film also stars Aishwarya Lekshmi as the female lead, supported by a strong ensemble including Jagapathi Babu, Srikanth, Saikumar, Ananya Nagalla, and Ravi Krishna.
Sambarala Yeti Gattu is gearing up for a massive release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam, with the official release date to be announced soon.
