Kerala top cop to join KCR’s cabinet?
1997 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, G Lakshman is likely to become the new IT minister of Telangana. Lakshman who is currently working as inspector general of the social policing and traffic wing of the Kerala Police, was born in Khammam and has 14 years of service left.
Telangana CM KCR had a word about Lakshman with his Kerala counter-part and the IPS officer is likely to quit from his services later this month.
The more surprising element is Lakshman would replace KTR as IT minister and this was confirmed by the bureaucrat himself speaking to Malayalam media.
In case of KCR allots IT portfolio to Lakshman, what would KTR do? This adds fuel to the fire of rumours that KTR would become the new CM of Telangana. This speculation was making huge noise since two months or so.
The TRS working president garnered a good popularity among the IT working professionals for doing everything to push the sector to be the best in the country. He already heads municipal administration, industries and commerce portfolios and has more number of departments than any other minister in KCR cabinet.

The political heat in the national capital is increasing with election campaign. As the tough fight is between BJP and Aam Aadmi Party, both are doing everything to get people’s attention. However, the BJP is indulging in personal attacks and one of the saffron leaders has called Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, a terrorist.
This did not go down well with Kejriwal’s daughter Harshita who is campaigning door-to-door on behalf of her father and AAP. Reacting on the BJP leader’s comments, Harshita said he taught us Bhagavat Gita from childhood and is this terrorism?
She questioned is it terrorism if health facilities are made free? Is it terrorism if children are made educated? Is it terrorism if electricity and water supply are improved? Calling it new low, Harshita added that the people of Delhi will show who is terrorist on February 11th.
Delhi will go for voting on February 8th.
Pelli Sandadi in Tollywood: Nikhil in April, Nithiin in May
Tollywood bachelors are becoming Family Men. While wedding bells are ringing at Nikhil’s residence where the actor would tie the knot with his longtime girlfriend Pallavi Varma at a grand wedding ceremony on April 16 in Hyderabad, actor Nithiin is also bracing up for his wedding.
While reports were rife that Nithiin would enter wedlock and his wedding was also due in April and likely to have a destination wedding in Dubai, the latest we hear is that Nithiin would get married in May. Apparently, Nithiin & family have decided to have a wedding in May. Talks regarding the same are going on. It is heard that the bride Shalini and family also agreed for May 2020 wedding in Dubai i.e in peak summer in Dubai. Shalini is an MBA graduate who studied in UK. Initially wedding was planned in April, but latest we hear is that it has been postponed to May.
However, an official confirmation regarding Nithiin’s wedding is due. It is buzzed that the actor would confirm his wedding news during the promotions of Bheeshma which is slated for release this month. So, Tollywood is all set for weddings of Nikhil and Nithiin in a gap of one months. Pelli Sandadi in Tollywood has begun indeed.
Mega Alludu’s third flick with noted writer
Noted writer Sreedhar Seepana who was part of blockbusters like ‘Dookudu’ and ‘Loukyam’ is all set to wear the director’s hat. Sreedhar will be directing Mega Alludu Kalyaan Dhev for the debut and the formal announcement is out.
Expressing his gratitude to the producers, Sreedhar said, “I thank my producers for this opportunity and would try my best to not let it go waste. With all my experience, I have penned a feel good story and this would be apt for Kalyaan Dhev.”
The going-to-be director added that the script has all the elements and will be a complete family entertainer.Hero Kalyaan Dhev seems to be very choosy about his films and picked up an entertaining subject. Currently he is occupied with ‘Super Machi.’Interestingly, the film will be presented by GA2 Pictures while People Media Factory and Abhishek Agarwal Arts banners will bankroll it.
The regular shooting of this writer and mega hero combination will kick start from March this year.
Mahesh Babu Taking AMB Cinemas To Bangalore
There is no stopping for Superstar Mahesh as he makes blockbuster movies on one side, picks up various brand endorsements on other side, then enters various business deals and businesses. He has teamed up with Asian Cinemas actually to bring up his own “AMB Cinemas” in Hyderabad, a theatre that is talked for its swanky interior design and Mahesh’s trophies.
Taking this ritzy blitz all the way to Bangalore, reports are coming that now the leading hero has started work on building a theatre there. He has teamed up with Asian Cinemas again to bring out another multiplex in the posh suburb of the software capital. As lots of Telugu films release in Bangalore and do well, definitely Mahesh Babu’s theatre is going to get more craze there.
Meanwhile, Mahesh is also said to be planning to come up with AMB Cinemas in Vizag and Vijayawada too, but he is yet to find the right theatre there, says a source. However, the next big jump for AMB Cinemas will be Bangalore theatre only as Namrata already started supervising the construction and interior work.
Rajamouli and Prabhas Joint Business
After witnessing the super success of Baahubali franchise, both Prabhas and Rajamouli have become pan-India superstars and everyone is waiting for their respective movies. However, some fans are also eagerly looking forward to seeing if the two will reunite any sooner.
Here comes the report that the two are soon going to join hands again. But this time, neither Rajamouli will direct nor Prabhas will act. Apparently a talk is said to be going on between Prabhas and Rajamouli about starting a production house that could give chance to young filmmakers to come up with content-based flicks. They have now come to a conclusion to start their production house very soon.
Though Prabhas is into production already through UV Creations and Rajamouli also invested along with Sai Korrapati, the two are officially joining hands and will become producers officially through this new banner. Reports are coming that already Rajamouli has decided to produce films for couple of his associates in the coming days.
Darbar distributors go on hunger strike
AR Murugadoss’ Darbar, starring Superstar Rajinikanth was released on 9th Jan 2020. However, the long-awaited flick has incurred huge losses of nearly Rs 70 crore, said the trade sources. On the same, Darbar’s distributors requested to meet Rajinikanth, but since their request was turned down, they have decided to go on hunger strike.
A distributor, Pandi Kannan said “Last week, we decided to meet Rajinikanth sir and explain the situation. We have suffered heavy losses. We were stopped by the cops when we approached the actor at his residence. It’s disappointing that he didn’t even wish to meet us. Therefore, we’ve decided to go on hunger strike”.
This is not the first time as Thalaiva’s 2014 film Lingaa also faced a similar fate when it incurred heavy losses for distributors. Now, Darbar was made of huge budget which includes record paycheck of Rajinikanth.
Currently, Rajinikanth is busy shooting for his next film with director Siva. The title has not been unveiled and this action drama will feature Keerthy Suresh, Khushbu and Meena in prominent roles.
Jayam to be remade in Kannada after 18 years
The blockbuster romantic-action drama, Jayam (2002), starring Nithiin and Sada need no special introduction as it was a super hit and became a trendsetter among Telugu viewers. Directed by Teja, Jayam was Nithiin and Sada’s debut film. The music by RP Patnaik will still give goosebumps, reminiscing the storyline within the lyrics penned by Kulasekhar. Also, Nithiin and Sada have been honoured with best male debut and best actress by Filmfare for Jayam.
It’s been 18 years that the industry hit Jayam has been releaed and now, the film is getting remade in Kannada. In 2003, right after one year of Telugu version, Jayam has been remade into Tamil and became a blockbuster there as well, impressing Tamil audience. The latest is that, Praveen, a young actor, who is a doctor by profession, is on the verge to remake Jayam in his mother tongue, Kannada (Sandalwood).
It is reported that Praveen has undergone a year of acting training and came up confidently with blockbuster’s remake. He will be seen as an innocent lover boy, just like Nithin and the film will soon go on floors. The remake of any superhit film has always had its cons more than pros and hope Praveen succeeds in impressing Kannada audiences with this beautiful love story.
Watch: Vizag is the best bet for capital says Jagan
YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy categorically said on Wednesday that Visakhapatnam is the best bet for development as an administrative capital at a far lesser cost than Amaravati.
Speaking at an education conclave organised by a national daily in Vijayawada, Jagan said Visakhapatnam already had basic infrastructure in place and it could be developed as the best capital in the world with only ten percent of what is required to build Amaravati.
“I am sure in ten years’ time Vizag will compete with Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Chennai,” he said.
The chief minister said if the government did not take a decision on the capital issue, it would badly affect the future generations.
“If we do not take this decision now, and continue with the old order, there would be great injustice to future generation,” he said.
He pointed ou that the cost of providing basic infrastructure in Amaravati was pegged at Rs 1.09 lakh crores while the spending capacity of any Government is just Rs 5,000 crores.
“Being head of the state and thinking like a father, the most prudent thing to do is to take the decision of three capitals,” he said.
He made it clear that Amaravati was not being shifted as was being propagated. It remains to be the Legislative Capital and the Assembly will function from there and legislators will come and stay during the 60 odd days the House is in sessions.
Visakhapatnam, which already has basic infrastructure in place, will be the Executive Capital housing the Secretariat and Chief Minister’s office while Kurnool, which was the capital of AP since 1953 to 1956, was be the Judicial Capital.The decentralized development will ensure jobs and opportunities in a big way in the days to come, he said.

Jagan: Modi government lied on special status!
All these years, the Narendra Modi government has been refusing to grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh on the pretext that the 14th finance commission had not recommended the same since it did not distinguish between normal states and those with special category status.
But on Wednesday, YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has called the Centre bluff on the special category status.
He pointed out that the finance commission itself had clearly and categorically stated that granting special category status did not come in its purview.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi late on Tuesday, he recalled that all these years, the Central government had been arguing that special category status concept ceased to exist in accordance with the recommendations of the fourteenth Finance Commission.
He said a press release by the Ministry of Finance on on 8th September, 2016 said with regard to the grant of special status, an apparent conflict had set in, between the statement and the recommendations of the Fourteenth Finance Commission which came subsequently.
“The ministry of finance contended that the finance commission had not taken into account any distinction between special and general category states in determining their norms and recommendations and therefore this has the effect of making the concept of special category status invalid,” he said.
However, when the state made a special request with the 15th finance commission for granting special category status, the commission chairman and members categorically said it was beyond their purview to consider the demand.
“Mr N K Singh, chairman of the 15h finance commission Fifteenth Finance Commission, said granting special category status does not figure in the terms of reference. He further said the philosophy of Special Category Status never emanated from any Finance Commission but from the resolution of erstwhile National Development Council,” he said.
Jagan also pointed out that the commission in its report for 2020-21 tabled in the Parliament also said the special category status demand remains entirely in the domain of the Union Government, which can take an appropriate decision after due consideration.
“Since the finance commission clearly said the issue of special category status is within the purview of the central government, I request you to consider the same and grant it to Andhra Pradesh,” Jagan appealed to Modi.
Movie Buzz: KGF 2 Books #RRR Release Date
Rajamouli’s aim was to release #RRR on July 30. He announced the release date even before the filming commenced, but #RRR got delayed for many reasons and it is now aiming at Sankranthi 2021 release.This leaves July 30 vacant and it is one of the best dates to have a pan India release.KGF sequel grabbed the opportunity and is now aiming at Julu 30 release.
Director Prashanth Neel planned to release it in October or December, but they are now looking to make use of this date as KGF 2 is sure to grab attention across the Nation.KGF 2 is riding on high expectations and is hoping to repeat Baahubali 2 kind of euphoria in all languages. The film’s first look was out and the makers are planning to launch the teaser shortly.
It is the Second Chapter of KGF that begins from where the first chapter ended. This one has a bigger villain in Sanjay Dutt, who could boost its prospects further in North Indian markets.
Nellore Distributors of AVPL and SLNE Set An Example
Two big movies releasing for Sankranthi has triggered fan wars on social media and the makers of either films are still battling it out with posters carrying ‘All Time Industry Hit’ slogans.
None of the teams congratulated their competition for scoring success for Sankranthi. Neither Mahesh nor Allu Arjun tweeted positively about their opposition.
AVPL went on to become a massive Non-Baahubali hit and SLNE turned out to be the biggest hit in Mahesh’s career. Distributors of both the films are happy. Especially the distributors from Telugu States made handsome profits on both the films.
Setting a fine example, Nellore distributors of Sankranthi movies arranged a combined bash for the exhibitors of Nellore district.
Bhaskar Reddy who bought AVPL and Hari, the Nellore distributor of SLNE has put up a combined flexi of both the films and have thrown a grand party for their exhibitors.
Nearly two hundred and fifty exhibitors attended the party and shared their happiness with each other. How about the makers of both the movies take a cue from this and put an end to the ongoing fan war.
