Share

Quite busy with #RRR on one side, and producing Megastar Chiranjeevi’s upcoming flick under Koratala Siva’s direction on the other side, Ram Charan is already hands full. But the star hero is quietly planning for his next film if reports are to be believed.

The rumors is that, recently when dad Chiranjeevi suggested the name of Anil Ravipudi for Charan, the star hero rejected the idea. So, who will be directing Charan’s next is the biggest question his fans are having right now.

We are hearing interesting reports that two directors have narrated their stories to the mega hero and one of them will surely get the green signal first. Reportedly, UV Creations made Saaho director Sujith narrate a story to Charan, and the hero liked it immensely they say. At the same time, Jersey director Gautham Tinnanuri also impressed the Magadheera star with a nice emotional script.

One of these two directors might get nod from Charan very soon as he wants to take a final call in a month or so.

Andhra Talk: Centre clarifies, what more is needed?

Share

The agitation by farmers of Amaravati has entered 50th day on Wednesday. The agitation has been going on ever since YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy announced in the state assembly that there is a possibility of forming three capitals for the state – executive capital at Visakhapatnam, legislative capital at Amaravati and judicial capital at Kurnool.

Much water has flown in Krishna river since then. The Jagan Mohan Reddy government has gone too far ahead in his mission. He got the report of experts committee headed by retired IAS officer G N Rao and that of Boston Consulting Group; constituted a high-power committee of ministers that endorsed the findings of the two expert committee reports and recommended formation of three capitals.

The Jagan cabinet approved the two draft bills – one to repeal APCRDA Act and another on decentralisation of administration with creation of three capitals. The government conducted a special session of assembly where these two bills were passed easily, but they got stuck up in the state legislative council due to lack of adequate numbers for the ruling party.

The TDP managed to stall the bills in the council by invoking Rule 71 first and then a day later, forced legislative council chairman to refer the bills to the select committee. Naturally angry with it, the Jagan government introduced a resolution in the state assembly abolishing the legislative council altogether.

The agitation of farmers which has started tentatively in the beginning has picked up later with the entry of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and his party leaders. Long marches, bike rallies, dharnas, road blocks, shutdowns, Chalo Assembly rallies, stone pelting, lathi charges, arrests, preventive detentions, court cases etc, followed during the agitation in the last 50 days. The BJP, Jana Sena and other parties, too, expressed their solidarity to the agitation.

The farmers and the TDP leaders have been making all efforts to stall the shifting of administrative capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam but nothing seemed to be working out for them. As a last resort, they tried to influence the Centre to rein in the Jagan government.

But with the Central government on Tuesday categorically making it clear that deciding the location of the capital city is the state’s prerogative, thereby indicating that it cannot interfere in the matter, it is now certain that Jagan will have the last laugh on the capital issue.

The pro-TDP media which has been giving wide coverage to the agitation of Amaravati farmers all these 50 days, continued with their coverage on Wednesday, too. But they seem to have reconciled to the fact that the shifting of capital is inevitable.

Yet, they tried to give some hope to the farmers that the Centre talked about only “capital” and not “capitals” and that the Centre has acknowledged only Amaravati as the capital city as it was notified way back in 2015.

Sakshi gave the factual position as stated by the Centre, while Andhra Jyothy pushed it inside, refusing to acknowledge the Centre’s decision.

Among the other stories, Sakshi gave wide coverage to Jagan’s letter to the Centre asking for special category status apart from arguments of the government in high court on English medium schools.

Andhra Jyothy carried a second lead story defending “insider trading” in Amaravati by arguing that those bought the lands were genuine persons despite having white ration cards. It pointed out that 95 per cent of the people of the state have white ration cards.

Eenadu carried a report on the state government’s status report on Polavaram project stating that 57 per cent of the works were completed. It also published an anchor story on the government’s proposal to set up three medical universities in three zones of the state.

Sarileru vs Ala: Now War for 50 Days Centers

Share

The competition between ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ and ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramloo’ is not going to die anytime soon.

Both the camps have been fighting with each other by releasing posters with hyped figures.

They even fought to claim ‘industry hit’, ‘non-Baahubali grosser’, etc. Thankfully, the phase of boasting collections has now ended.

But don’t relax! We are going to witness another sort of war between these camps.

Like in the olden days, the competition is about the number of 50-days centers. Both the films have completed 25 days of run in theaters and are aiming for 50 days run.

They have to be in the theaters for another 20 days which is going to be a huge task as this weekend Sharwanand and Samantha’s “Jaanu” is hitting the screens and the film has generated good buzz.

On February 14th, Vijay Deverakonda’s “World Famous Lover” will be releasing. The focus will be shifted to these movies. Hence, the audiences for Sankranthi movies will completely dwindle. Given this scenario, keeping them in many centers for 50 days is big head-ache.

At present, Allu Arjun’s “Ala Vaikunthapurramloo” is still drawing better collection compared to “Sarileru Neekevvaru” that has been restricted to a single screen in many areas.

The producers have already begun assessing how much they are going to lose money if they have to keep many theaters for 50 days.

The share will fall into deficit. If the team ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ takes it as a prestige issue to keep the movie in many centers for 50 days, the buyers will lose money from their profits.

Will producers bear it?

Anyhow, clarity will emerge how many centers will remain for 50 days in the next 10 days. However, this is a foolish act for centers when both of them have already been declared hits.

Where Was The Referendum On Amaravati?

Share

Amaravathi: TDP chief, Leader of Opposition in Assembly and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is now asking for referendum on Amaravati. He wants the government to hold referendum on decentralisation of capitals by the present government.

Chandrababu Naidu dared his successor Jagan Mohan Reddy to go for referendum on three capitals issue and said he would remain silent if referendum was in its favour.

There are two issues in the TDP chief’s demand.

The first one is did he conducted referendum on selecting the 29 villages for the capital and naming them as Amaravati? Was there no opposition to Amaravati location in 2014-17? Were there no cases in the National Green Tribunal? On what basis did Naidu select this place for the capital? Which expert committee recommended this area, if there was no referendum?

The second issue is, do we have the practice of going for referendum in India on any issue, just because a political asked for it? Was there any incident or issue where the government went for referendum before taking a final call? The TDP chief and his media is doing everything to save Amaravati and it only increases doubts of the people, on the allegations of insider trading.

How much did Naidu and his men invest in Amaravati? What are their financial obligations connected to these 29 villages of the capital city and 30 revenue mandals of the capital region spread over Krishna and Guntur districts? The more Chandrababu Naidu and his men talk about Amaravati, the more doubts are coming to the people on his interests.

It was Chandrababu Naidu who suppressed every voice, including those of environmentalists and social activists, besides the National Green Tribunal, when he zeroed in on Amaravati in December 2014.He did not allow people to take out protest rallies or hold protest meetings in those days.

Chandrababu Naidu did not even hold an all-party meeting to finalise the capital city and capital region. To some extent, this government is better as it is allowing people to hold protests in the capital villages and outside.

Were there any protests allowed in any of these 29 villages during Chandrababu Naidu tenure?
Where is the room for referendum? Where is the precedency in the country for such a referendum?

Be it a nuclear power plant in Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu or the demonetisation then and CAA now, do we have the practice of referendum or at least holding consultations? It is high time that Naidu and his men stop making hue and cry for Amaravati, as people are thinking seriously on the insider trading alleged against the TDP.
