No Telugu Girls At Least For These Roles?

Share

While Hindi speaking girls get most of the changes in Bollywood, native Tamil heroines dominate Kollywood and Kannada speaking girls are predominant in Sandalwood. But only in Telugu industry, we have girls from other languages dominating to the core with Telugu-native girls not even in the hindsight.

Okay, with Telugu girls being little non-glamour loving folks, maybe our star heroes and directors are running after Poojas, Kiaras, Nabhas and Nidhies. But then, there are the likes of Eesha Rebba and others who could essay the roles that need a bit of performance and quirkiness. Now that director Sudheer Varma is remaking Korean movie Midnight Runners, the film needs two heroines to play the trainee cops. Many thought that Varma will go for Telugu girls as he worked with the likes of Colors Swathi and Ritu Varma earlier.

Finally, we hear that Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas are essaying the roles of these two girls. As producer Suresh Babu, who originally owns the remake rights of this Korean film insisted on that, the director has nothing to do but follow the orders. But some native Telugu girls would have suited the role better.

Pawan To Take Short Break From Shooting?

Share

For the last few days, actor and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan has been busy in shooting for his forthcoming two films – one, a remake of Bollywood hit film Pink produced by Dil Raju and Boney Kapoor and another being made by Jagarlamudi Krish.

Sources said Pawan Kalyan has dedicated his entire time in February and parts of March for shooting for these two films.

There is also a latest announcement that Pawan is going to start shooting for his third film to be produced by Mythri Movie Makers and directed by Harish Shankar.

One doesn’t know whether the third film starts after the completion of the first film or will commence simultaneously. But since it has been announced, Pawan is committed to completing that.

In the meantime, there are reports from Jana Sena Party that Pawan is going to take a short break from his acting and dedicate the time for party activities.

According to party sources, the Jana Sena chief would be touring a few villages in Amaravati for a couple of days to express his solidarity with the agitating farmers.

The party is chalking out his tour programme and depending on his shooting schedule, Pawan would be finalised the tour in Amaravati. He would also be meeting party leaders from Krishna and Guntur districts.

Apparently, Pawan has realised that the people have not been taking his party seriously as there has been no follow-up activity on the Amaravati issue.

Especially the cancellation of the “Maha Yatra” from Tadepalli to Vijayawada, scheduled to be held on February 2, has done a lot of damage to Pawan, as there are comments that Pawan has lost his credibility.

It is not exactly known whether Pawan will tour Amaravati villages on his own or involve the local BJP leaders.

He has already announced that whatever programme he would take up, he would do it in coordination with the BJP. But after the unilateral cancellation of February 2 rally, it is not certain whether he would involve the BJP in the proposed Amaravati tour.

No question of special status to AP, tells Centre

Share

It has become a routine affair for the parliament members from Andhra Pradesh to raise a question in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on granting special category status to the state every time, only to get the same answer from the Centre.

For the umpteenth time on Monday, the Centre has made it clear on the floor of Lok Sabha that there is no question of granting special category status to Andhra Pradesh. This time, the question was raised by Telugu Desam Party MP from Vijayawada Kesineni Nani.

Replying to the question, Union minister of state for finance Anurag Thakur clarified again that the demand for granting special category status to Andhra Pradesh was a closed chapter and there was no change in the stand of the Centre in this regard.

He reiterated that as per the recommendations of the 14th finance commission, no state would be given the special category status.

“The Centre had announced special package for Andhra Pradesh in lieu of special category status, which was accepted by the state,” he said.

Despite knowing fully well that the Centre would not give it, it has become a practice for the MPs, including those from YSR Congress party and the TDP, to raise the issue again and again only to hoodwink the people.

Kesineni’s question was obviously to embarrass the YSR Congress party which said it would continue to fight for the status every time.

Soon after the budget speech was completed by finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman, YSRC parliamentary party leader V Vijay Sai Reddy also criticised the Centre for ignoring the demand for special status to AP.

The issue will invariably figure in all the representations of the state to Delhi every time.

CS to go on long leave: Yellow media mind game!

Share

It looks like a section of media strongly supporting the Telugu Desam Party is making every effort to malign the YSR Congress party government by spreading a campaign that senior officials are getting frustrated with the style of functioning of chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Taking advantage of the abrupt transfer of former chief secretary L V Subrahmanyam over his alleged clash with the chief minister’s office, this section of media has been campaigning that not just Subrahmanyam, but every senior IAS officer is not happy with Jagan because of his alleged adamant attitude.

The latest report doing rounds in this section of media is that present chief secretary Neelan Sawhney, too, is very frustrated with Jagan so much so that she is planning to return to the Central service or go on a long leave. She is left with just a few months of service.

According to these reports, Neelam reportedly commented before her close friends in the bureaucracy that she had been working under tremendous pressure and that she was spending sleepless nights under the present regime.

She reportedly complained that she was under pressure to issue orders, strictly according to the directions of the chief minister.

The reports said Neelam tried to caution the government that certain orders might face judicial scrutiny, but her cautions are being completely ignored.

“She is worried that she might have to face the imprisonment and penalty, if something goes wrong with these orders,” the reports said, adding that she feels it is better to go on long leave and retire peacefully, rather than facing a turbulent period in her last lap of service.

Nobody knows the truth in such reports, but they appear to have been written with a clear agenda to make people believe that Jagan is going against the rules and the bureaucrats are not happy with him!

Select Committee without YSRC members?

Share

It has been more than 10 days since Andhra Pradesh state legislative council chairman Mohd Ahmed Sharif referred the two crucial bills – AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill, 2020 and the APCRDA (Repeal) Bill – to the select committee.

The two crucial bills were passed in the state assembly on January 20, but were held back in the legislative council. Subsequently, the Jagan government moved a resolution in the state assembly on January 27 seeking to abolish the legislative council and it was adopted unanimously.

Later, it was intimated that there would be two separate select committees for two bills and the chairman asked the political parties in the council to suggest names for these select committees.

There were reports that the officials of the state legislature refused to constitute the select committees on the ground that the motion on the same was not passed in the council, but nothing of that sort has happened.

On Monday, except YSRC, the other political parties sent the names of their representatives to the council chairman for being appointed to the select committees.

TDP sent the names of P Ashok Babu, Nara Lokesh, Tippe Swamy, B T Naidu and Sandhya Rani for the select committee on decentralisation bill and that of Deepak Reddy, Bida Ravichandra Yadav, Bachula Arjunudu, Gouravani Srinivasulu and Budda Naga Jagadeeshwar Rao for the committee on CRDA repeal bill.

The BJP and PDF also sent the names of their representatives for the select committees.

The ruling YSRC, however, has announced that as far as the government is concerned, the legislative council stood abolished. So, it is unlikely that it will send its representatives to the select committees.

It remains to be seen what the council chairman do on these committees which are without the ruling party members!

Watch: KRR interviews ‘Aswathama’ Naga Shaurya

Centurion director K Raghavendra Rao always appreciates good content and he seems to be mighty impressed with young hero Naga Shaurya’s latest release ‘Aswathama.’

On that note Raghavendra Rao has interviewed hero Shaurya and third person to join them is lady director Nandini Reddy.

Firstly KRR congratulated Shaurya for making a good film.

“I like mythology and I really liked ‘Aswathama’ title. I was there for the film’s launch ceremony and then for a day before release. If I don’t make it after the release, audience would get an impression that the film is not good.”

Hero Naga Shaurya explained how the film was titled ‘Aswathama.’

“When we were writing the antagonist character, me along with my team slipped in MahaBharat. Then eventually we zeroed on ‘Aswathama’ character and that’s how the whole thing happened.”

Meanwhile Shaurya’s film has collected a gross of Rs 10.35 crore in the first three days. These numbers are staggering all thanks to the pre-buzz, promotions and stuff.

JD Lakshminarayana Planning To Join BJP?

Share

Former joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) V V Lakshminarayana, who resigned from Jana Sena Party in protest against party president and actor Pawan Kalyan’s return to film industry, is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party, if his latest observations are any indication.

Lakshminarayana said his association with Jana Sena was a closed chapter, as his resignation from the party had been accepted.

“I don’t want to make any further comments against that party. My struggle for farmers would continue and I will make the state-wide tour again for the sake of farmers,” he said.

Stating that being in politics is very much essential to do public service, Lakshminarayana said he would shortly disclose which political party he would be joining next.

But the former CBI joint director dropped enough hints that he might be joining the BJP. He was all praise for the Union budget 2020 introduced by the BJP-led NDA government in Parliament on Saturday.

“The budget is people-friendly and allocations to various sectors are very encouraging. Steps have been taken to encourage youth towards agriculture sector,” he said, adding that it was the responsibility of the MPs from Andhra Pradesh to secure more funds to the state.

Lakshminarayana also expressed view that there was nothing wrong with the Citizenship Amendment Act introduced by the Centre.

“It is only about providing citizenship to minorities in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh facing persecution. It does no harm to the Muslim minorities in India,” he said.

His observations are clearly in sync with that of the BJP, indicating that he might prefer to join the BJP sooner or later. But one wonders whether he would appreciate the BJP joining hands with Jana Sena Party in any manner.

Despite petitions in HC, capital shift plan goes on!

Share

Even as the agitating farmers of Amaravati are knocking the doors of Andhra Pradesh high court to prevent shifting of the government offices from Amaravati, the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government continues to go ahead with its capital shift exercise.

On Monday, the Jagan government issued orders releasing Rs 19.73 crore for construction of Millennium-B towers at Madhurawada in Visakhapatnam city. The funds are being released to the Information Technology department.

According to sources, the Millennium-B towers would be used for accommodating various government departmental offices. The existing Millennium-A tower is expected to be used for the Secretariat including the Chief Minister’s Office.

The release of funds for the Millennium-B towers comes within two days after the release of another order directing shifting of the offices of the Vigilance Commissioner, Chairman of Commissionerate of Inquires and also that of the Member(s) Commissioner of Inquires functioning from Interim Government Complex, Secretariat at Velagapudi to Kurnool.

It is learnt retired IAS officer Veena Ish took charge as AP Vigilance Commissioner of AP on Monday and she would be operating from her office in Kurnool shortly.

According to sources, several other offices from the Secretariat would also be shifted to Visakhapatnam one after the other, once suitable office spaces are identified.

Irrigation minister P Anil Kumar was in Visakhapatnam on Friday to look for office spaces for his department closer to Andhra University.

Meanwhile, farmers of Amaravati on Monday moved yet another petition in the state high court challenging the evacuation of offices to Kurnool. The petition described the GO No. 13 as illegal. The petition would come for hearing on Tuesday.

ED to probe insider trading in Amaravati?

Share

If the reports coming from the power corridors of Andhra Pradesh are to be believed, Central investigating agency Enforcement Directorate is likely to take up probe into alleged insider trading that took place in Amaravati, wherein several big people had bought lands in their benami names.

The Crime Investigation Department at Mangalagiri, which is presently probing the case, reportedly wrote to ED authorities to take up further investigation.

The CID authorities had submitted a lengthy dossier on the details of land dealings in Amaravati, along with the names of original plot holders, those who had purchase these lands from farmers and the financial dealings involved in it.

The CID has already disclosed that nearly 797 white ration card holders had purchased land parcels of nearly 700 acres of land worth several crores of rupees before the announcement of Amaravati as capital.

The Cabinet sub-committee constituted by the YSRC government to study irregularities in Amaravati had found insider trading in the purchase of 4,070 acres of land in the capital region.

“The CID has found evidence of money laundering in the purchase of lands by people associated with the then ruling party. The government will hand over the evidences to the ED for further investigation,” sources said.

Apart from serving notices on the white ration card holders who purchased lands in Amaravati, the CID, according to sources, had also approached the Income Tax department with the Aadhaar card details of around 477 persons who have purchased lands and sought details of PAN cards and Income Tax returns. None of the said persons were Income Tax assessees, but some of them were PAN card holders.

The YSRC government has been alleging that TDP leaders, including the then MLAs, ministers and businessmen associated with families of top TDP leaders benefited from the alleged insider trading.
