‘Jayalalithaa wasn’t like me, she was glamorous like Aishwarya Rai’

The versatile, outspoken and talented actress Kangana Ranaut, who is fully occupied with her next long-awaited flick Thalaivi spoke about her role and the homework she had to do for the film. The actress will be seen essaying the role of actor-turned-politician J Jayalalithaa in the biopic and Kangana said that she did a lot of research to portray Jayalalithaa’s role.

“Jayalalithaa was definitely not like me. She was a more glamorous star. Somebody like Aishwarya Rai in Bollywood. It was a very big challenge to fit into those shoes because I’m not known as a glamorous star,” Kangana said. But, she also stressed on a few points that are common between her and Jayalalitha. “She was a very reluctant actor. It is the same with me. I never wanted to be an actor, and that is why we became very unusual actors.”

Also, she compared how both of them chose an alternative profession apart from films, in spite of being established actors. “I think she always felt that she was worth much more than just being a glam doll and hence, became a politician. Even I became a filmmaker because I felt that being an actress was not my borderline. So, I think there are parallels.”

Kangana also highlighted the point of how Jayalalitha longed for a family, and for a child. “There was a time in my life also when I longed for a family. Some of the married people took advantage of that. There are scenes in Thalaivi with an actor who is married, and who promises marriage and then goes back on his word.” These words surely reminds us of Kangana’s ugly brawl with one of the Bollywood’s superstars.

Directed by AL Vijay, Thalaivi has been written by Baahubali and Manikarnika writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and The Dirty Picture and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai writer Rajat Arora. This much-anticipated biopic will hit theatres on June 26, 2020.

Simplicity at its best: Sudha Murthy buys vegetables on streets

The chairperson of the Infosys Foundation and a member of public health care initiatives of the Gates Foundation, Sudha Murthy, was spotted buying flowers and vegetables from the market in Bagalkot district, Karnataka. The pictures of the same went viral and left people in shock as they praised her simplicity.

Sudha Murthy went to Shurpali village in Karnataka in order to seek blessings at Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swami temple and followed by buying vegetables from street vendors. Among a huge crowd of common people, Sudha Murthy proves her power is simplicity and mingled well with the public. Without expensive cars and showbiz, Sudha Murthy went on to enjoy the normal middle-class lifestyle, asking and bargaining with vendors.

She is seen holding a cloth bag in her hand and wore a simple cotton saree without showing off her luxurious status. It is reported that Sudha has also gone to console victims and families of the recent Krishna river floods, affecting border Andhra and Karnataka. With this, Sudha Murthy has gained infinite respect and admiration across the country. She also said that she is purchasing vegetable and flowers for her residence in Bengaluru.

Ala Vs Sarlieru: Dil Raju Has Answer On ‘Industry Hit’ Claims

Producer Dil Raju who carved out Sarileru Neekevvaru along with Anil Sunkara has also distributed the film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo in Nizam area. Despite the fact that he has made huge profits from Allu Arjun’s film due to its super hit status, the producer is not seen at any of the events related to the movie. So what has he to say about the industry hit claims of these two films?

Known for his balancing acts, Raju responds quite cautiously on this question as he chooses a diplomatic yet believable answer for it. “Actually there is divide talk on the numbers of collections because some are saying the collections without GST and some are adding GST as well before spelling the figure. No matter what, both Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo and Sarileru Neekevvaru scored well, while each of them has beaten Baahubali 1 and Baahubali 2 in different regions” says Dil Raju. He further added, “These two films are the best collections of those heroes in their career so far”.

However, Raju has evaded answering which among Ala and Sarlieru is actually an industry hit as both the films are claiming it with their posters. But his cautious answer on the industry hit claims is surely proving how he treats things in the industry as he doesn’t want to hurt any hero or their fans.

On the other hand, Raju’s next release is Samantha and Sharwa starrer Jaanu that is releasing this Friday.

What’s The Game Plan Of Pawan Kalyan?

Time and again, Janasena President Pawan Kalyan has consistently gone back on his words many times, including the latest coming back to movies. After he firmly told people that films are over in his career, he claimed that the need for funds has forced him to take up movies again.

Pawan has clearly confirmed in a couple of messages that he is actually doing films because he needs money to run the party. But if we look at the three films he is doing now, he will hardly get 50 crores from each movie and could make 150 crores in 2020. And before 2024 election, even if he wraps three movies a year, he could do 9 more movies than the present three and could make another 450 crores in case if his market is intact without flops hitting him hard.

In that case, Pawan will get 600 crores in his pocket which will not be seriously enough to run the party. If we look at few constituencies in 2019 elections, the talk is that they have spent nearly 100 crores just to win an assembly (as MLA). On that note, can Janasena manage to mobilise people, get votes and win in all of AP’s constituencies with this Pawan’s remuneration?

One wonders what is the gameplan of Pawan to make sure that the films he is doing them will fuel Janasena party’s affairs.

Buzz: Megastar Chiru Rejected Nandini Reddy’s Story

Even after scoring a super hit through ‘Oh Baby’ featuring Samantha in the lead, it looks like director Nandini Reddy is yet to get the big break. Still, she is unable to convince big heroes with her stories and we hear that her latest story got rejected by none other than Megastar Chiranjeevi.

Though Nandini remade Korean film ‘Miss Granny’ for Samantha, she is not in a mood to do remakes for other stars. Pitching a new-age love story written by herself to upcoming hero Vaishnav Tej (Sai Dharam’s brother), Nandini is actually preparing to direct it under Geetha Arts. However, the twist came with Vaishnav tej insisting the lady director to narrate the subject to Megastar Chiranjeevi and get his approval.

Giving some suggestions to change the story and how to take it forward in a way that it evokes lots of drama and humour, Megastar is said to have given couple of ideas. And Nandini is said to have presented the story to Chiranjeevi with the needful changes, but the star hero hasn’t got excited after the final narration.

Now that Chiranjeevi didn’t give approval to the story, will Nandini do more changes to impress him or writes another script altogether is something to be seen.

Another Tamil Director In Line For Allu Arjun

Mega hero Allu Arjun is running high with the super success of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo at the moment before he gets back to the sets of his next film being directed by Sukumar. Later, he will be taking up another interesting project if reports are to be believed. Here are some interesting details.

Recently we have revealed that Tamil director AR Murgadoss who has earlier directed two straight Telugu films including Chiranjeevi’s Stalin and Mahesh Babu’s Spyder, has now narrated a script to Allu Arjun. In the wake of Murugadoss recent movie, Rajnikanth’s Darbar, failing at the box office, many felt that Bunny might not team up with Murugadoss now. But it looks like the result hasn’t affected the hero’s conviction on the Ghajini director’s story.

As Allu Arjun liked the story idea pitched by Muruga, he is said to have asked the director to narrate him the full story. Also, the mega hero is said to have given assurance to the Ghajini director that if he likes the story the film will take off after Sukumar’s movie gets wrapped.

Earlier Bunny gave similar assurance to Linguswamy also, but with the final draft not impressing the star hero, he has called off the movie. So let us see what happens with Murugadoss now.

Jagan Wasting Money On ‘Adda’ In Mumbai?

Director Puri Jagan is popular for two things. One is that his heroes will have a unique massy attitude where they don’t care about anyone. Secondly, he is known for his lifestyle including the way he boozes, enjoys lavish time at this luxury office in Jubilee Hills which is named as ‘Cave’. Here’s an interesting snippet.

Recently with Karan Johar entering the scene to co-produce Vijay Devarakonda’s flick that was tentatively being called ‘Fighter’, Puri Jagan has changed the film’s backdrop to Mumbai. They have been shooting there and the director is said to have taken Ram Gopal Varma’s office for a while. And now, he is said to have set up an office there, which is named as ‘Adda’.

When there is no plan on Puri Jagan’s mind to settle down in Mumbai and make Hindi movies, we wonder why the director spent a bomb to carve such an office in Mumbai. Otherwise, we could also say that he is indicating that after this film with Vijay Devarkonda he might move to Mumbai to make Hindi movies in a row.

Anyway, Puri would have made a small budgeted flick with the kind of money he invested in that new office. Movie lovers are however eagerly waiting for the pics of this Mumbai office of Jagan.

Young Hero Says No To Lucky Charm Heroine?

There are reports everywhere that hero Nikhil is likely to team up either with Anupama Parameswaran or with Nabha Natesh for his upcoming film Karthikeya 2, a sequel of super hit movie Karthikeya directed by Chandu Mondeti. Their combination is creating lots of hype.

Regarding this Karthikeya 2, there were earlier rumours that heroine Swathi Reddy will be repeated in this movie. Apparently Nikhil and Swathi delivered two hits including Swamy Ra Ra and Karthikeya back to back. Though Nikhil is said to have evinced interest to rope in Colors Swathi earlier, now trying to get either Anupama or Nabha such that film’s business will be terrific.

But then, many thought Swathi is the lucky charm for Nikhil and he might go to her owing to the sentiment. Also, the fact that Swathi lost of oodles of weight to look super sexy right now is an indication that she might come back to films again. We now have to see whether Nikhil would rope in his lucky charm Swathi or not.

Digital Talk: Only Summer Release For Sarileru And Ala

Both the films Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo have entertained Telugu folks to the maximum this Sankranthi eve. Despite the hugely hiked ticket prices for almost two weeks, even audiences have spent a bomb to catch their favourite superstars in theatres, thus giving mind-blowing collections to them.

However, there is a section of fans who wants to see these films in their home theatres as soon as possible as they wait for the digital release of them on streaming apps. But it looks like they have to wait till Summer if they want to catch up Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun on the digital apps.

Despite having their own app ‘Aha’, Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is sold to Gemini TV and it will be streamed on Sun NXT only. We hear that the film is set for April 8th release, on the eve of Allu Arjun’s birthday. But Gemini TV will be looking for an ideal holiday date as well, as they know the potential of this film to rake up TRPs.

At the same time, we have Mahesh’s Sarileru Neekevvaru sold to Amazon Prime Video, but there is no early release surprises from Prime this time. The movie is likely to be streamed on March 7th after it completes 50 days from the date of release in theatres.

‘Naga Shaurya’s ‘Aswathama’ Collected 10 Crs Gross’

Young hero Naga Shaurya’s ‘Aswathama’ made a terrific start at the box office despite getting mixed response from critics and talk from the audience.

The film which completed its first weekend, and makers announced that the film collected a gross of Rs 10.35 crore from worldwide box office. These numbers are huge and are said to be the biggest in Naga Shaurya’s career.

What’s to be noted here is the makers have sold the theatrical rights for Rs 6.50 crore and making Rs 10 crore is a huge achievement.

In many areas, the film is nearing break-even which is another feat and until the next release, ‘Aswathama’ will easily step into profit as the collections are still going strong.

Prabhas’ Next: The Pan-India Superstar Sets A Condition

Apparently Prabhas has taken huge gap yet again after Saaho, like the way he took couple of years after Baahubali 2 as well. Though he is not worried about time, he is said to be setting up various conditions on the makers of his upcoming movies.

Prabhas is no small hero and every film of him will be releasing across the nation from now onwards. For that reason, he has to choose his projects quite carefully, so should be the announcements. Though the likes of Dil Raju on one side and the likes of T-Series on the other side are insisting Prabhas to announce his next, the actor is said to be not in a mood to do so.

They say that Prabhas will make the announcement of his next project along with names of directors only after his current film, tentatively titled Jaan, nears its release date. That makes the producers and directors who are in queue to make a movie with him, wait for a longer period of time for the announcement to come.

However, with Prabhas not in a mood to announce the new projects and their dates, the sense of urgency in completing his present films goes down, thereby worrying the fans if this movie will also take its own sweet time to get wrapped.
