Big Telugu Directors Are Hands Full Now
Whether it is a rough patch or a partial slow down, no time stays standard forever and change is the only constant. Especially in Tollywood, right now if we have a look at the big directors, they are all hands full of work with their prestigious projects in the top gear at the production level.
There was a time when Rajamouli hasn’t finalised any film after Baahubali 2, Koratala Siva isn’t taking up any project after Bharat Anu Nenu, Boyapati is pretty free after giving a disaster like Vinaya Vidheya Rama and no star hero is approaching VV Vinayak after watching Intelligent movie. At the same time, Sukumar is still basking in Rangasthalam success but no film took off, while Krish is yet to come out of NTR biopic trauma.
Cut to now, Rajamouli is busy carving #RRR, Koratala is directing Megastar Chiru’s 152nd, Boyapati is directing Balayya again, Vinaya is acting in Seenayya as a hero, Krish started his film with Pawan Kalyan and Sukumar started shooting Allu Arjun’s film already. Also, Puri Jagan is shooting Vijay D’s film in Mumbai. Except for Trivikram, who is fresh from the success of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, every big director is almost busy with their respective projects.
Other than the likes of Sreenu Vaitla and Surender Reddy, almost all the big guns are right now super busy. Hope these two will also start their next soon.
Actress is bowled over by Jasprit Bumrah’s swing!
Mumbai: Bollywood heartthrob Disha Patani is clearly bowled over by Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s cricketing skills.
“If I had to pick a matchwinning player, it would be Jasprit Bumrah. He is one of the finest players we have. It will be a proud moment for all of us on February 2, while Bumrah takes down the Kiwis,” Disha declared, playing soothsayer for the India-New Zealand T20I match coming up on Sunday.
The oomph diva opened up on her cricket preferences at a promotional event for her upcoming film “Malang”. She stars with Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kunal Kemmu in the film.
Her co-star Anil Kapoor, on the other hand, roots for Indian captain Virat Kohli.
“Virat Kohli is ‘sabka boss’! His passion steals the game from any opponent. The Malang cast will celebrate India’s victory, post-match,” Anil said, while sharing his views on Star Sports “Nerolac Cricket Live” along with his “Malang” co-stars, who will feature on the pre-show of the fifth T20I on Sunday.
Kunal Kemmu is a fan of Rohit Sharma’s batting skills. “Rohit Sharma is the ‘hitman’ of Team India — his confidence on the pitch is remarkable. He’s a batting maestro who fearlessly attempts big shots and successfully scores match-winning runs for the team,” he said.
Finally, Aditya Roy Kapur feels KL Rahul is an “outstanding all-round cricketer, so easy on the eye”. He added: “He (Rahul) makes watching the game a pleasure. Can’t wait to watch India take on New Zealand in this last one.”

Jagan wants to see us as beggars, alleges JC
Former Anantapur MP and senior Telugu Desam Party leader J C Diwakar Reddy is feeling being hit below the belt by the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government which cancelled the limestone mining leases of Trishul Cement Factory owned by JC’s family in Tadipatri.
Reacting strongly to the Jagan government’s decision, JC alleged that Jagan has a mentality of a faction leader, who goes to any extent to decimate his enemies.
“He is adopting a revengeful attitude towards his political rivals. He wants to see that all his political enemies should become bankrupt and die on streets. If they don’t, he would run after them till they become totally broke,” he alleged.
JC said Jagan was aiming at destroying the financial roots of his political opponents.
“After making them bankrupt, he wants to see their wives and children take to streets for begging. Only then, his ego will be satisfied,” he said.
Saying that he would fight it out in the courts to get back the leasing licences, the TDP leader said the losses being incurred by him were insignificant compared to the losses incurred by farmers of Amaravati.
“I am not worried. We shall move the court of law to get justice,” he said.
He said already, the government had seized 88 out of 120 buses of Diwakar Travels. “The government has not been even caring the directions of the high court in this regard. I congratulate our man Jagan for killing the people without any bloodshed,” JC said.
Trade Talk: The Calm After A Storm!

Ashwathama and Choosi Choodangane were out in theaters from Friday and Naga Shaurya’s Ashwathama opened on an okay note among them. However, the reports aren’t encouraging enough to give that much needed push to its collections.

Slump In Realty Market Is Yellow Media’s Worry!
All these days, pro-Telugu Desam Party media houses have been shouting from roof tops over the injustice meted out to farmers of Amaravati, who had “sacrificed” thousands of acres of lands to the Andhra Pradesh government for the construction of capital city.
This section of media has been creating the impression that the YSR Congress party government has taken away food from the plates of poor farmers by proposing to shift the administrative capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam.
But on Saturday, the lead story carried by Eenadu Telugu daily exposed the real cause of worry of the farmers. The story is about drastic fall in real estate market value in and around Amaravati, including Krishna and Guntur districts.
The Eenadu story explains how the land values have come down from Rs 40-50 lakh per acre to less than Rs 15 lakh acre following the decision of the Jagan government to shift the capital to Visakhapatnam.
It said the farmers who had been given plots in lieu of their costly lands, are now put to heavy losses because of the fall in land values.
Besides, a large number of people, including employees, who had bought lands closer to Amaravati through bank loans and by investing their hard-earned money, are now put to heavy loss, the report said.
It clearly showed that Eenadu is more worried about the fall in land values than the real Amaravati project.
“Amaravati is just a real-estate agreement between the then TDP government and the farmers. It looks like Eenadu wants the capital to protect the real estate interests of the farmers, rather than constructing the capital itself,” an analyst pointed out.
Such reports would only damage the interests of Amaravati farmers, as there is every possibility for the people in the rest of the state to believe that they were agitating only for their real estate activity, he said.

Naidu’s Blood Started Boiling On This Day
TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s blood started boiling “for the injustice done to the State” on this day in 2019.
It was on this day, he appeared in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly in black shirt, as a mark of protest against the BJP and the injustice done to the State, after bifurcation.
He gave a lengthy speech on the floor of the House, in the very presence of the BJP MLAs, hitting hard against the BJP leadership, targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It was on this day, he heckled the BJP leadership. It was on this day, he abused the Prime Minister for not fulfilling the promises to the State after bifurcation. It was on this day, Chandrababu Naidu called Narendra Modi a traitor and a betrayer.
Naidu had sided with the BJP in the 2014 elections. He sailed with the BJP for four years. He silenced the voices for the special category status and other benefits.
He used and misused the police force to close the voices and tie the hands for raising slogans of special category status.
He had compromised with the BJP leaders who have offered the special package to the state in the place of special category statues.
He showered praises on the BJP leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi all through, for four years.
Then, when there was nothing in the 2018-19 budget for the state and when just elections were just two months away, he spoke in the Assembly on February 1, 2019.
He hurled abuses at the BJP. He cursed the party and its leadership and pledged to crush the party at the national level in the impending elections.
He then started touring the nation, aligning even with the Congress, ahead of the April 2019 general elections.
Finally, he was defeated and his party was crushed to 23 MLAs and 3 MPs, while Narendra Modi had come back to power with a thumping majority.
That was how Chandrababu Naidu’s blood boiled in those days. In fact, his blood is also boiling these days, for two reasons – to have friendship with Modi and to restore his un-built and non-starter dream city, Amaravati!
Pawan to drop out from politics, for two years!
There is a proverb in Telugu: “Ninda munigina vaaniki chali enduku” (Why would one feel cold, when he is already neck-deep in waters?). This aptly suits for power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan.
Though Pawan Kalyan had decided to return to films to make money soon after his party faced a humiliating defeat in the elections in Andhra Pradesh, he had been keeping it under wraps for quite some time, fearing that it might show him in poor light in the public.
Everybody in the film industry knew that he had agreed to do at least a couple of films and even started shooting for them of late, but he has asked the film makers not to give any publicity for the same.
Apparently, he was hesitating to disclose his return to films as it might lead to the talk that he was following his brother Chiranjeevi’s footsteps.
But Pawan himself admitted openly for the first time in his statement a couple of days ago that he was doing films again because he needed money for sustaining his family and also his party.
He even claimed that many families are depending on him and since acting is the only job he can do, he is back into films again.
Now that everybody has come to know about his return to films and it is no more a secret, Pawan has decided to do more movies and keep himself busy in the coming days. It would mean, Pawan would not be involved in political activity anymore.
He is already doing a couple of films – one, a remake of Bollywood film “Pink” being produced by Dil Raju-Boney Kapoor combine and another, being made by ace director Krish Jagarlamudi.
On Saturday, there was yet another “official” announcement from the production house Mythri Movie Makers, about Pawan’s 28th film. The film is going to be directed by Harish Shankar. “More details soon,” says the announcement.
This would mean Pawan would be busy making three movies, at least for now, for the next two years. One doesn’t know whether he would be signing anymore films in the coming days.
“If any of these movies becomes a big hit, then offers would come flooding to Pawan and he wouldn’t be in a position to reject any of them. After all, there is nothing much for Pawan to do anything else till the next elections in AP in 2024,” an industry source said.
Shifting Of Offices From Amaravati Begin!
Notwithstanding the directions of the Andhra Pradesh high court against shifting of government offices from Amaravati till the cases pending in the court are disposed of, the YSR Congress party government has quietly began the exercise.
On Friday night, chief secretary Neelam Sawhney quietly issued a government order, directing shifting of the office of the Vigilance Commissioner from Interim Government Complex, Secretariat at Velagapudi to Kurnool.
The order does not refer to the word “Amaravati,” but said Velagapudi in Guntur district.
Along with Vigilance Commissioner’s Office, the offices of Chairman of Commissionerate of Inquires and also that of the Member(s) Commissioner of Inquires functioning at Velagapudi would also be shifted to Kurnool.
The chief secretary directed that the Engineer-in-Chief, (R&B) and the Collector and District Magistrate, Kurnool shall take necessary steps for identifying suitable buildings at Kurnool to relocate the above offices immediately.
According to sources, several other offices from the Secretariat would also be shifted to Visakhapatnam one after the other, once suitable office spaces are identified.
Irrigation minister P Anil Kumar was in Visakhapatnam on Friday to look for office spaces for his department closer to Andhra University.
As reported in these columns, chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will also be moving to Visakhapatnam by second week of March and would be operating from the new office from Ugadi, falling on March 25.
Ravi Teja Ends Up With Single Digit Again!
Not long ago, energetic hero Ravi Teja used to be in the forefront among the Telugu film stars having a range of at least Rs 25 crore. Now, he is struggling to get a share of even Rs 10 crore.
His latest film “Disco Raja” has turned out to be a big disaster so much that it is difficult to get even Rs 10 crore share in the market.
The film makers thought it would safer for them if the film fetches at least Rs 22 crore from theatres, but it is going to end up with less than half of the expected revenues for sure.
So, it is going to be the fourth successive film of Ravi Teja that failed to get even Rs 10 crore share in the market. If it cannot secure revenues even from Hindi dubbing rights and digital rights, the producer cannot even achieve a break-even.
Despite a series of flop shows and his films are not able to get even Rs 10 crore share in the market, Ravi Teja had been firm on his remuneration all these days. But now, he will be forced to scale down and compromise on his fee.
Heroes like Sai Dharam Tej, who brought down their remuneration when their markets were down, bounced back to their original position. But Ravi Teja seems to be of the view that he would regain his star image with the click of just one film.
But trade analysts say Ravi Teja should come to terms with his position and realise the tastes of audiences. Otherwise, he would continue to face the bad days!
