TRS set for a historical win in municipal polls!

Share

Telangana Rashtra Samithi is all set to record yet another historical win in the elections to 120 municipalities and 10 municipal corporations in the state conducted on January 22. The results are going to be declared on Saturday, when the counting takes place.

Going by the polling trends and an exit polls conducted by the Centre for Psephology Studies (CPS), the TRS is going to register a landslide victory, capturing 104 to 109 municipalities and almost all the 10 municipal corporations in the state.

The Congress might win 0-4 municipalities and 0-1 corporation, the BJP might win at the most two municipalities, if it can and the MIM may win two.

It will be a one-sided affair in the elections and according to estimates, there will be tough contest only in seven to nine municipalities and none in corporations.

“So, it will be more or less a clean sweep for the TRS. It is going to be an unprecedented record for the TRS, as no other party in the country has won more than 90 per cent of the civic bodies,” an analyst said.

The TRS has recorded victories in every election it took part since the formation of the Telangana State.

In the assembly elections held in December last, it won three-fourths assembly seats, more than 50 per cent seats in Lok Sabha elections and captured all the Zilla Parishads and 90 per cent of the mandal parishad elections in the state.

Even in the present municipal elections it will get an impressive and decisive victory, exit polls predicted.

Buzz: Prabhas Team Warns All The Actors

Share

Giving high to his fans through his new look which is really interesting, hunk hero Prabhas is making sure that he will not upset his admirers next time. He started shooting for his new movie under Radhakrishna’s direction, which is tentatively titled ‘Jaan’.

Reprotedly Prabhas is making sure that the photos of the newly built sets of Jaan at various places in Hyderabad including Ramoji Film City and another site near Tellarpur to not get leaked. His team is said to be taking care of all the actors and warned them smoothly to not take any selfies on the sets to share them on their social media pages.

From Pooja Hegde to former heroine Bhagyashree who is playing Prabhas’ mother, are not even allowed to carry their mobile phones on the sets, we hear. Even if they carry, they won’t be clicking selfies and sharing. That’s a nice strategy to improve the hype around the film as leaked pictures always spoil the excitement well in advance.

On the other hand, Jaan might hit cinemas for next Sankranthi or Summer but the pan-India superstar might not have a release in 2020.

Jagan lied about Jayalalithaa: Chandrababu

Share

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has responded on AP CM YS Jagan’s claims that late and former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa had done administration from Ooty which is a hill station.

“Being a CM, Jagan is lying in the Assembly and his comments on Jayalalithaa are absolutely untrue. Jayalalithaa had been to Ooty only to take rest. However being the CM, she used to look after day-to-day activities which is common,” said Chandrababu.

The TDP boss also found fault with Jagan that there is no word called ‘Capital’ in the constitution.

Here is what Jagan said!

“There is no word ‘Capital’ as such in the constitution but it is mentioned as ‘Administration Place.’ A CM is head of the government and secretariat and the individual can operate government from wherever he wants. There is no need of a law or a bill for it and the government has the power to decentralize it. In the past Jayalalithaa had run the administration from Ooty,” said Jagan.

Adding Jagan also took out Chandrababu’s tenure. “During Hudhud cyclone, Chandrababu had done administration from Vizag for nearly 10 days. To run the government from a place of CM’s choice would fall under Rule 174 of the Indian constitution. TDP and Chandrbabu are doing politics on decentralizing the capital,” said Jagan.

Congress leaders are helping KTR: Vijayashanthi

Share

Over the last one month or so, there are wide speculations in the Telangana political circles that KTR would be made the CM of the state. This topic became a huge discussion not just in the TRS party but also in the oppositions i.e, BJP and Congress.

So far Telangana Congress party star campaigner Vijayashanthi never responded on it even though the media continuously asked her opinion. A while back, Vijayashanthi took her Facebook page and opened up.

“From whatever interactions I had with Congress leaders about Telangana municipal elections, TRS party has a clear lead. If the results are in favour of the party, TRS high command wants to give credit to KTR and there are high chances of him becoming CM. More than TRS leaders, it’s the Congress leaders who are discussing about KTR and they are indirectly helping the TRS working president to build his image among the public,” said Vijayashanthi.

She opined that making KTR CM or not, is completely TRS party and their chief’s choice. If TRS leaders do make comments on it, there is no need for me to react on it and it is not the appropriate time.

Do Vijayashanthi’s fresh comments imply anything or she has a soft corner for KTR? The Congress star campaigner seems to be not bothered about TRS affairs at all.

Make Amaravati India’s Second Capital: Venkatesh

Share

BJP Rajya Sabha MP TG Venkatesh has raked up a new row by suggesting to make Amaravati as the second capital of the country. Well, this remark from Venkatesh is completely unexpected and we have to see will there be any takers for it.

In details, Venkatesh said, “If AP CM Jagan seriously wants to shift the capital to Vizag, then he should make sure that injustice should not be met to Amaravati farmers.” Reiterating Dr. BR Ambedkar’s words of having a second capital in south India, TG added that Jagan should talk with PM Modi and make Amaravati as the second capital of the country.

The people and farmers of Krishna and Guntur districts are distressed and to restore the faith in them, a respectable decision should be taken on Amaravati.

On the ‘Three Capitals’ row, the BJP leader said, “There is no point of having secretariat in Vizag as Rayalaseema people can’t afford to go all the way to UttarAndhra.”

“Jagan has succeeded with village secretariat concept, like so a mini secretariat should also be set up in Kurnool apart from the High Court and high court bench should be established in Vizag. The High Court in Amaravati should be converted into bench,” said Venkatesh.

Recalling their demands during AP Bifurcation in 2014, he stated, we demanded then government to set up winter and summer Assembly sessions in Kurnool but none gave importance to our demands.

Last year post the general elections, there was a wide speculation that the BJP government in New Delhi is considering to make Hyderabad as second capital of the country. Now TG wants Amaravati in place of Hyderabad as the second capital. But will this be seriously accepted by farmers. We don’t think so.

Undavalli digs Margadarshi case after 12 years

Share

In mid 2008, Rajahmundry ex-MP Undavalli Arun Kumar shot to headlines by alleging media baron Ramoji Rao of wrongdoing in Margadarshi Chit-Fund Company. Since then Undavalli with the help of late YSR, troubled Ramoji like anything.

After 12 years, this case is back to headlines as Undavalli knocked the Supreme Court as he got to know that the case has been squashed by the Telangana High Court. Speaking to the media in New Delhi, Undavalli said, “This case did not go to trails not even once and how can they get a squash the case. Ramoji influenced Telangana government and cleared the case. But Margadarshi has collected deposits from undivided AP so divided AP state should also come into cognizance.”

Adding as per Supreme Court, a case belonging to financial offenses can’t be squashed. On the last day of Hyderabad High Court i.e, December 31st, 2018, Ramoji filed a squash petition and managed to get verdict in his favour.

The former MP added Supreme Court has given two weeks time to Ramoji Rao to appear before the court in the new petition. “If Ramoji is found guilty, he will need to pay Rs 7500 crore as penalty for collecting Rs 2500 crore deposits even though the money is returned to the depositors. Apart from the penalty, he may also face jail for two years,” added Undavalli.

When the film ‘Pelli Choopulu’ turned super hit at the box office, young director Tarun Bhaskar is in high demand. Sensing his talents, producer Suresh Babu who has released that flick has signed the youngster for couple of films. And came the film ‘Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi’ that ended up as a mega dud.

Since then Tarun Bhaskar’s name is getting attached with lots of other movies as an actor and with some gossips as well, but actually his supposed film with Venkatesh is not taking off. Though the young director carved couple of stories and narrated to Venky, it seems like nothing have impressed the star. A rumour is doing rounds that Tarun Bhaskar is now getting ready to move out of Suresh camp for the same reason.

Insiders, however, revealed that Suresh Babu is upset with Tarun that he hasn’t focused on basic script carving regarding Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi which resulted in losses. Also, the senior producer and his brother are upset that Tarun is not focusing on script and direction, but actually trying to become an actor. The director acted as a lead in Meeku Maatrame Chepta movie.

Latest buzz has that Tarun Bhaskar might unite with his Pelli Choopulu hero Vijay Devarakonda for a new film. Let’s see what happens.

I’m Excited And Awestruck To Play Baahubali’s Mother

Like it has come out already, former heroine Bhagyasree Patwardhan of Maine Pyaar Kiya fame is playing the role of superstar Prabhas’ mother in the upcoming film being directed by Radhakrishna of Jil fame. This vintage backdrop film that has its new sets built at Ramoji Film City got Bhagyasree joining the latest schedule.

Talking about her arrival, Bhagyasree says, she is glad that people still remember her as Maine Pyaar Kiya heroine and felt excited playing the role of Prabahs mother in this movie. “After watching Baahubali I’ve got awestruck by Prabhas and his performance. Who will not be ready to play a role alongside him in his next movie? I’m glad to be playing his mother in his next”, the 50-year-old actress says.

Actually Bhagyasree’s shift to mother characters in Telugu films would have happened with another film. She is part of Telugu remake of 2-States featuring Adivi Sesh and Sivani Rajasekhar. But the film got delayed and struck with issues, and now Prabhas’ Jaan is likely to become her comeback Telugu film nearly after 20 years.

Disco Raja Movie Review

Share

A frozen body is found in Ladakh and the scientists uses it for their experiment and brings it back to life. The dead body is of a don named Disco Raja (Raviteja) who died thirty five years ago. A family is waiting for a missing person named Vasu (Raviteja). How are they two connected? Who killed Disco Raja?

Performances:

Raviteja tried to be as energetic as Disco Raja, but he couldn’t hide his age in close up shots. His performance is okay as the music loving gangster. None of the female leads got a decent enough role to play. Payal Rajput is okay in retro avatar. Bobby Simha’s character is poorly etched and he is totally wasted despite putting in best efforts. Vennela Kishore’s comedy works here and there and Sunil is a surprise package. But his character is underdeveloped.

Technicalities:

VI Anand’s idea is impressive. It has the makings of an interesting science fiction thriller. But it is tweaked to make it suit to the body language and screen image of Raviteja. This didn’t come out well as the director lost focus on details and messed up the screenplay. It is neither an action film nor a comedy.

Thaman’s disco based retro music is the mainstay of the film. He has given a chartbuster song and the background score is simply superb. Cinematography is good and the production design makes it look authentic. Editing is uneven. Production Values are topnotch as the film is made on a high budget with quality visuals.

Thumbs Up:

Raviteja

Concept

Music

Thumbs Down:

Weak narrative

Aimless direction

Boring second half

Analysis:

The film starts off as a science fiction with an interesting point stressing upon the stem cell storage. The mystery around the lead character is built through various sub plots, but the behavior of the protagonist after coming back to life seems odd. There is a desperate attempt for comedy which seemed quite unnecessary and diluted the interest generated at the beginning. The pace picks up towards the intermission scene where the true identity of the protagonist is revealed.

There is ample scope for an interesting second half, but the characterization of Disco Raja lacked proper vision. There is no need to stress so much on the ‘Disco’ element, but it seemed to be a desperate attempt to give it an identity. The late seventies getups are odd including Raviteja’s. Thankfully, it is restricted to few scenes as Disco Raja grows into a powerful gangster. The gang wars shown are not effective as the villain’s chapter is pretty limited.

The Helen Chapter with the romantic episodes of Raviteja and Payal Rajput are boring except for a chartbuster song. Director’s attempt to make it an interesting climax by pulling off a familiar twist isn’t effective enough. Such twists are done to death in gangster flicks. There are more than a couple of twists, but none of them evoke any interest due to poor narration and marathon boring sequences.

The futile attempt to make it a whacky comedy film backfired big time. The film doesn’t maintain any mood for a considerable amount of time. It keeps on fluctuating from one mood to another without any interesting stuff going on the screen. Disco Raja comes off as an interesting idea that is killed because of half baked treatment and execution. Raviteja is trying his best to do something different but is getting letdown by the directors.

Verdict: Rewind – Pause/Stop!

Dil Raju’s Bumper Strategy For Pawan’s Comeback

Share

Dil Raju’s Rs. 50 Cr offer tempted Pawan Kalyan to make a re-entry as an actor.Pawan just needs to work under thirty days to grab Rs. 50 Cr, an offer he couldn’t say no to. Hence, Pawan started working on the Telugu remake of Pink ahead of all other commitments.

Dil Raju believes this remake will be a huge box office success as Pawan is making a comeback after two years and with an image makeover (he plays a middle-aged lawyer).

But timing the release is key for this remake which has a very serious theme (sexual violence against women).

It should come out in the best season to make the most at the box office. Therefore, Dil Raju is planning to release this film in May as there are no other big releases lined up for this Summer.

Almost ninety percent of the films in April and May are either mid-budget films or low budget small films. It will be the only film with a tier 1 hero as the lead.

It is a great release strategy if it goes as per Dil Raju’s plan. But a lot will depend upon how many days does Pawan allot in the next three months to finish the filming and post production.

AP Legislative Council Abolition: TDP is the loser

Share

If what Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had hinted at in the Assembly on Wednesday is to be a reality and the AP Legislative Council is abolished, the major loser is not the ruling YSR Congress, but the Opposition TDP.

The TDP, which had lost the 2019 general election to the YSR Congress is now surviving only on the regular fight put-up by the party chief Chandrababu Naidu and in out of the Assembly.

He is, despite the age factor turning disadvantage, on the roads almost every day, on one issue or the other, to keep the party alive.

His party had won just 23 seats in the 2019 general elections, which was a humiliating defeat to the leader of the stature of Chandrababu Naidu, who has four decades of political experience and having served as chief minister for close to 15 years.

The man who wielded his whip in the national politics at one time, was thus reduced to a small sub-regional party chief in the elections.

The only face saving place for the TDP is the AP Legislative Council, where the party is in majority and holds its chairman and vice-chairman posts.

It was this strength that had given some political advantage to the TDP, particularly on Jagan Mohan Reddy’s plans to have three capitals for the State.

It was in the Legislative Council that the TDP could manage the bill to be referred to the select committee. The TDP has 31 members in the 58-member Council, including the chairman and vice-chairman.

Angered at this, Jagan Mohan Reddy had hinted at abolishing the Council and had posted the decision for discussion in the Legislative Assembly for Monday. What decision he would take on the day is known to him and his close confidants.

But the question is who would be the main loser if the Legislative Council is abolished! It is obviously the TDP. Its voice would be restricted in the Assembly and would lose the chance to raise it in the Council. It would be left to fight on the streets.

Besides, the party would also lose the protocol benefits in some districts, where the MLCs represent the party. Its senior leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu would be reduced to the party spokesperson level to air his views.

The young leader and aspiring to be the chief minister of the State any time, Nara Lokesh, would be stripped off his chance and security.

Above, all, the party will have less access to the administration in the districts and hence the party top leaders are coming to terms with the government, the sources indicate.
