Taking many by surprise, Ravi Teja’s Disco Raja has done a superb pre-release business despite that his last movies haven’t met the expectations. Amidst this, there is a lot of attention on Disco Raja among trade and audience..
Director VI Anand avers confidence that the film will meet the expectations of all. He said the film is a perfect blend of concept and commercial elements. “Story is very important to a film. I won’t write a story based on a hero. Based on the concept, I’ll choose a hero. Ravi Teja is very apt for the story of Disco Raja,” says VI Anand, of Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada fame. He added that even Hollywood films with good story, concept has nice commercial elements. VI Anand said Disco Raja has similar thing which gives new and different experience to Telugu audience.
Stating that science fiction is one of his favourite genres, VI Anand said he had done enough research for the story of Disco Raja. Denying that the film is neither copy nor adaptation from any Hollywood films, Anand said the idea has come from a newspaper article about a Bio-Chemical Lab. He said he has weaved story of Disco Raja based on it and what would happen if a lab research becomes success. He said there are no forced elements in the film. Anand, “At the same time, there is full entertainment. Ravi Teja’s humour and acting is at best in Disco Raja.”
VI Anand admits that this is his career’s highest-budget film. He is keeping his fingers crossed on how audience would receive the film as the film hits the screens on Jan 24.
True Collections of Sarileru, Ala: Only 4 People Know!
There’s a lot of hullabaloo over the collections of Sankranthi releases particularly Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. While fans of both sides are waging war online over the BO numbers of their favourite stars, the producers of both these films are tight-lipped.
It is buzzed that the true and original collections of these two big-ticket films are with the respective producers. While only Dil Raju and Anil Sunkara know the true figures of Sarileru, Allu Aravind and Radha Krishna only know how much Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo originally collected.
It is rumoured that the numbers are manipulated right from distributor level and the ballpark BO figures are only reaching to top level. Whereas to media and fans, it is the inflated figures that are being circulated by the respective teams. The high competition between the films is also leading the respective teams to boast figures and claim records. Overall, it is interesting to see where this Box Office number war ends at who’ll have upper hand.

Tollywood has very few directors who delivered only blockbusters. After SS Rajamouli and Koratala Siva, Anil Ravipudi is the director with no flops till date. His latest flick Sarileru Neekevvaru with superstar Mahesh Babu is breaking many existing box office records. This indeed is already highest earner for Mahesh Babu.
Anil Ravipudi created a rare feat by giving biggest blockbusters to all the heroes he’s associated with, including Mahesh Babu. His previous films Pataas, Supeme, Raja The Great and F2 were biggest hits for Kalyan Ram, Sai Dharam Tej, Ravi Teja, Venkatesh and Varun Tej respectively.

Fresh Gossip: Rakshasa Rajyamlo Ravanasurudu
Director Teja is known for churning out back to back small budgeted films in the past. But then, a string of flops has silenced him for a while before he bounced back huge with Rana’s Nene Raju Nene Mantri. And then, the filmmaker once again disappointed audiences with his female-centric film Sita that has Kajal Agarwal in the lead.
After making a dud like ‘Seetha’ in recent times, the director’s name is actually getting associated with many rumours we have to say. First of all, it has come out that Teja will be directing a big star. Later there are rumours of him making another women-centric film. Then the news of his Bollywood movie on Article 370 went viral as the director is said to have got into talks with Megastar Amitabh Bachhan too. Here comes the fresh rumour about his next.
It is being circulated that ‘Rakshasa Rajyamlo Ravanasurudu’ is the latest title Teja registered for his upcoming movie which will have Rana Daggubati playing a crucial role as a negative-shaded guy. Though there is no confirmation from any side, the gossip is strong that Teja has indeed narrated the film to Rana and even roped other young actors too.
Why and How Jagan Failed in Council?
The Jagan Mohan Reddy government, with a whopping majority of 151 MLAs in the Lower House (Assembly) of 175, had failed to get its bills passed in the Upper House (Legislative Council).
In political terms or in administrative terms or management terms, the failure is a clear indication of the leader who is heading the government.
It is very clear that Jagan Mohan Reddy has no majority in the Legislative Council.
Out of the 58 members in the House, the TDP has 27 members in addition to the Chairman and vice-chairman. The YSR Congress has just 9 members. The rest are nominated or belonged to the BJP or the Left oriented group.
Even if all these members abstain from voting in favour of the ruling party, there is a clear majority for the TDP against the ruling YSR Congress.
Assuming that the ruling party could manage some members (MLCs) to abstain from voting, it would not be more than a handful.
The result is that the ruling party’s bills (on capital) would get defeated by the TDP, which is leaving no stone unturned, to oppose the bills that weaken Amaravati.
Knowing that the bills would get defeated or get into the delayed political strategy of the TDP, the ruling party did not look for alternatives, either legally or politically.
TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu is a strategist and will stoop down to any level to see his word or his decision prevailed.
Everyone knew Chandrababu Naidu’s strategies and his capabilities on this sector. Jagan Mohan Reddy is a total contrast to Chandrababu Naidu’s character. We may not expect Jagan Mohan Reddy to stoop down to win. But, the fact is the rival.
When the rival is capable of doing anything, can shout on the top of the voice or shed tears or plead with folded hands or sit on the floor or anything else, the opponent should be able to handle the character, if not do the same.
Success of a leader depends on how leads his team and how he faces his rival.
When the rival is chameleon, the leader should know how to face. When the rival is a tiger, the leader should know how to hunt it and not just to be its prey. Knowing fully well that Naidu can be a chameleon or a tiger, Jagan Mohan Reddy simply became the prey.
Jagan Mohan Reddy wanted to be honest politician in front of a most dishonest and opportunist politician. Things would not work this way.
He did not even have his legal team ready to bail him out in that crucial period. He did not have his constitutional experts by his side. He did not have his political strategists at his disposal, who could match the political strategies of Chandrababu Naidu.
Jagan Mohan Reddy tried fishing in a crocodile pond. He should learn hunting crocodiles first or go for a new pond. Here Jaganmohan Reddy cannot go for a new pond as this pond is his home state.
What he should learn is that he should handle the crocodile first and then think of fishing. His team too should learn to be with him.
If the king sleeps after victory, it is acceptable. But, what if the soldiers sleep? All the soldiers are sleeping or relaxing, while the king is still fighting. The king should wake up his men, tell them they are still in the middle of the battle and the strong enemy is still alive!
Sye Raa Fails on TV with Low Ratings
Gemini TV is failing to cash in on the rights of high-profile movies. The channel has been on buying spree and snapping the rights of Tollywood biggies but it is failing to garner viewership.
Megastar Chiranjeevi’s “Sye Raa” which was premiered during Sankranthi season received low ratings.
The mega period drama witnessed 11.8 TVR which is lower than what the film’s Tamil Television premiere had got 15.4 TVR when it was telecast on Sun TV.
The Telugu audiences didn’t show interest to watch it. On the other hand, Varun Tej’s “Gaddhalakonda Ganesh” had a better rating than Chiranjeevi’s “Sye Raa” which was premiered on STAR MAA.
Is it an issue with Gemini TV’s poor marketing skills or Telugu TV audiences are not showing much interest to watch the biggies on TV?
CID cracks whip on Amaravati illegal land deals!
Within hours of the Andhra Pradesh assembly adopting a resolution to initiate a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations of insider trading in Amaravati, the capital region of the state, the crime investigation department has started cracking the whip.
The CID department on Thursday books a series of cases on those who had bought lands from Dalits and other poor farmers on benami names.
Interestingly, the CID authorities found that many of those who had bought lands in Amaravati were white card holders.
The CID authorities booked cases against former ministers Prathipati Pulla Rao and P Narayana and another TDP leader Bellamkonda Narasimha for purchasing the assigned lands in the name of white card holders.
CID superintendent of police Mary Prashanti told reporters at Mangalagiri town police station that the cases were registered following a complaint from a Dalit woman Pothuraju Bujji of Venkatayapalem that some people had brought pressure on her to sell her land measuring 0.99 cents.
“We booked cases under Sections 420, 506 and 120 (b) of the Indian Penal Code,” she said.
According to her, as many as 797 white ration card holders had bought lands at the rate of Rs 3 crore per acre.
“In all, lands worth Rs 220 crore were brought by these white card holders who are the benamis of big people. We are inquiring into these transactions. In all, four teams have been constituted to probe these illegal land dealings,” she said.
Pawan’s late entry into Amaravati crisis!
Even as the agitation by the farmers of Amaravati to prevent the shifting of capital city to Visakhapatnam has reached its peak, Jana Sena Party president and Pawan Kalyan is making a late entry.
While the Telugu Desam Party has been fighting tooth and nail against the capital shift and even stalled the passage of the bills in the legislative council, Pawan wants to take up the cause of the farmers.
But instead of chalking out the agitation programmes in the state, Pawan went all the way to New Delhi to announce his programme of action with the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
On Thursday, Pawan Kalyan and BJP leaders met BJP’s national president JP Nadda to seek his nod for the agitational programme. Pawan told him about the plan of action to be implemented in AP.
Pawan told reporters later that the three capitals issue had no support of either Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Home Minister Amit Shah and it was wrong to say that Jagan Mohan Reddy had kept these two top leaders in the loop.
“It is a unilateral decision of the YSRC government,” he said.
As part of their joint programme, Jana Sena and BJP are planning to hold a long march from Tadepalli to Exhibition Grounds in Vijayawada on February 2 at 2 pm to express solidarity with the farmers who have given the lands for the capital construction.
On Wednesday, the BJP-Jana Sena Coalition Coordination Committee meeting was held in Delhi in which Pawan Kalyan, Kanna Lakshminarayana, Nadendla Manohar, GVL Narasimha Rao and Purandeshwari discussed the future course of action to be implemented in the state.
The committee has decided to meet every fifteen days to take the alliance forward.
Exhibitors Snub Disco Raja Due To Raviteja’s Poor Form
Raviteja’s recent track record was so bad that exhibitors are least interested to screen this Friday release Disco Raja.
Majority exhibitors are keen on retaining Sankranthi biggies as they are still holding well and can do better during weekend.
Given the dismal show of Raviteja’s recent films like Amar Akbar Antony and Nela Ticket, exhibitors are not excited about his latest film Disco Raja in spite of its promising premise and good soundtrack.
Vi Anand is a bankable director who comes up with innovative ideas and Disco Raja looks interesting with its retro setup.
Good word of mouth can help Disco Raja to get more screens by the weekend. So it is extremely important for the film to generate positive word of mouth from its early shows tomorrow.
The film needs to recover more than Rs. 22 Cr from theatricals to be a box office success and it needs enough screens to reach there.
Aswathama Trailer: In Chase Of A Mysterious Serial Killer
Aswathama teaser simply focused on highlighting the toned body of Naga Shaurya who was seen in an action avatar.Trailer of the film gives us the clear idea about what Aswathama is about. It is about a mystery serial killer who is after young women.
Aswathama, the protagonist is in search of the mysterious serial killer and is seen hatching out a plan to get to him.We don’t know if the protagonist is a cop or an investigative journalist. But the theme looks identical to that of Rakshasudu.
Interestingly, Naga Shaurya turned writer for this film and has penned the story of Aswathama. This mystery action thriller is directed by Ramana Teja. It is produced by Naga Shaurya’s home production Ira Creations that made Chalo and Narthanashala earlier.
Music scored by Sri Charan Pakala for the trailer is captivating and elevates the tense mood. Naga Shaurya looks macho with a toned physique. Mehreen Pirzada is the female lead. The film is set to release on Jan 31.

Uppena marks debut of Sai Dharam Tej’s brother Vaishnav Tej as hero, Krithi Shetty as heroine and Buchi Babu Sana as director. The film’s first look poster is out.
True to the title Uppena, we can observe an intense atmosphere in the poster where Vaishnav Tej is seen expressing his contentment at seaside.
Though his face isn’t visible, Vaishnav Tej appears elegant in multi-color shirt and thick blue jeans.
The makers have also announced to release the film on April 2nd which means Vaishnav Tej joins the summer race.

Comedian Sunil Admitted to Hospital, Fast Recovering!
Comedian Sunil is now being treated at the Gachibowli’s Asian Institute of Gastroenterology in Hyderabad.
The actor was admitted to the hospital on Thursday morning as he had been suffering from sinus and throat infection.
The condition is nothing serious now. His family members took him to the hospital after the actor was struggling to breathe easily. Surgery for sinus will be done, sources said.
Sunil has also informed the media not to spread rumors as he is recovering well and nothing is to worry about.
Sunil’s next film “Disco Raja” releases tomorrow. He has been struggling to make a mark in his comeback as a comedian.
