Jagan appears in court, amidst tight security

For the first time after taking over as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday made a personal appearance before a special court for Central Bureau of Investigation cases in Hyderabad in connection with the alleged quid pro quo cases.

Huge security arrangements have been made by the Telangana police in and around the Nampally criminal court complex, as Jagan who arrived in Hyderabad by a special flight drove straightaway to the court to attend the proceedings.

He would returning to Vijayawada by afternoon, without even going to his house.

Apart from Jagan, YSRC general secretary and parliamentary party leader V Vijay Sai Reddy, who is an accused No. 2 in the case, also attended the court.

In a related case, YSRC MLA from Srikakulam and former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao and a few IAS officers also attended the court in connection with the same case.

Though Jagan had been attending the CBI court proceedings regularly in the past, it has become difficult for him after he became the chief minister.

He sought an exemption from personal appearances in the court on the ground that he had the constitutional responsibility to rule the state and also due to huge burden on the state exchequer for making security arrangements for him.

However, the CBI strongly opposed the same stating that Jagan could influence the witnesses, if he was given the personal exemption. The CBI court agreed with this argument and refused to grant exemptions.

Subsequently, Jagan had been avoiding attending the court personally every Friday by filing a petition under Section 317 of the Criminal Procedure Code seeking exemption from personal appearances, stating that he was not able to attend the court due to compelling reasons.

On January 3, the CBI court, however, refused to entertain such petitions by Jagan hereafter and said he won’t get personal exemptions hereafter and that he should attend the court on January 10.

So, the chief minister had no option but to come to the court.

Shutdown in parts of Hyderabad ahead of Tiranga rally

Hyderabad: Shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed in parts of Hyderabad on Friday for the ‘Tiranga rally’ to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

The business activity around the historic Charminar and other parts of the old city of Hyderabad came to a halt as shopkeepers downed shutters in support of the rally organised by the United Muslim Action Committee, comprising various Muslim groups and headed by the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

Private schools and colleges also declared a holiday in support of the rally, which is scheduled to begin from historic Mir Alam Eidgah after Friday prayers. The rally will culminate in a public meeting at Shastripuram ground, on the city outskirts.

Shops and business establishments also remained closed in Nampally, Mallepally, Asif Nagar, Mehdipatnam, Masab Tank, Toli Chowki and Golconda. Several trade associations declared their support to the rally.

Lawyers, teachers and other professional bodies have also announced participation in the rally, the second biggest anti-CAA protest in Hyderabad after January 4 ‘Million March’.

AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM floor leader in Telangana Assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi, other party legislators, Hamid Mohammed Khan of Jamat-e-Islami, religious scholars and leaders of various Muslim and Dalit organisations were scheduled to address the rally.

The AIMIM has made elaborate arrangements for the Tiranga rally, which is being held on the outskirts as the police denied permission for holding it in the city.

Politics, Caste, Religion, Media And Sentiments

The Andhra Pradesh is witnessing the ugliest war, everything for politics. The TDP, which had faced humiliating defeat in the 2019 general elections and is doing everything to dishonour the peoples’ mandate.

It started with the leaders and people of one caste, associated with the TDP, refused to accept the peoples’ mandate. They began to wonder how the TDP was defeated. They never tried to go deeper and find out the reasons for their defeat.

There was one voice, from one caste and one party, – how could you (Chandrababu) lose (power)? They refused to accept the mandate given to Jagan Mohan Reddy and they hurl abuses at the chief minister, in a most derogatory way, which never happened to any of the chief ministers. This shows how assertive the caste was and how assertive the TDP was in the state, particularly after bifurcation.

Now, it is Amaravati for everything. The TDP rallies against the government. The dominant caste rallies against the government opposing the move to shift the capital from Amaravati.

It is a fact that the people of this enterprising caste have invested a lot in Amaravati for two reasons – to make their leader (Chandrababu Naidu) a successful and visionary and to make best benefits out of the proposed capital.

There is unrest in the caste that they were shunted out of Hyderabad and have no place to lay their hands. This unrest had also created a sense of competitive sprit among them to have an immediate alternative to Hyderabad. It is for this reason, they have invested in Amaravati, purchasing lands, purchasing plots and purchasing bonds.

They even raised emotions of the people and created mania among people to donate for bricks to build the new city. If the capital is moved, then they are the losers for which they are not ready. Having lost Hyderabad, they are not ready to lose Amaravati, a city that was never built on the ground.

The caste-owned media rallies against the government. The media comes out with special stories, special coverage to protect the interests of the caste.

The print media dedicates its pages and columns to spread hatred against government and love for Amaravati.

The electronic media dedicates hours of its air time to promote debate, discussions and the so called protests being held across the state.

Now, turning the ugliest side of the war, they are launching a battle against Jagan Mohan Reddy to turn him anti-Hindu.

They have planned a rally from various places to Kanaka Durga temple in the city to offer prayers to deity in favour of Amaravati. Obviously the police have denied permission for such a protest rally, which no government allows.

The denial of permission for this protest rally is now being projected as anti-Hindu and Jagan Mohan Reddy is promoting Christianity, which is not relevant in this Amaravati protest.

The leaders of the caste and the party, would stoop down to any level, use any sentiment and any reason, spread pack of lies, to protect their interests in Amaravati, which is the world’s biggest real estate venture.

JC faults Naidu on ‘temporary’ buildings!

Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former Anantapur MP J C Diwakar Reddy does not mince words even when he has to criticise his own party leaders including party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

On Thursday, JC found fault with Naidu for claiming the existing buildings in Amaravati, the capital region of Andhra Pradesh, as temporary buildings.

“The existing assembly and secretariat buildings are absolutely strong and have all the facilities. Why should Naidu call them as temporary buildings? He has given a chance to the Jagan Mohan Reddy government to shift the capital on the pretext that the present buildings as temporary,” he said.

JC, however, quickly controlled himself saying Naidu might have described them as temporary buildings because he wanted to build a bigger capital.The former MP said Jagan Mohan Reddy’s proposal for three capitals was highly impractical.

“A capital city is like the head of a state. And our great leader wants to cut it off and take it to Visakhapatnam,” he said.JC pointed out that already, people are crying for giving up Hyderabad and moving to Vijayawada. Now, Jagan wants to shift the capital to Visakhapatnam.

“At least now, we are able to return to Anantapur in a day after completing our works, because all the offices are there. If the capital is shifted to Visakhapatnam, we have to stay away from our families for four days,” he said.

When Jagan was giving, Naidu was begging

January 9 is historic day in Andhra Pradesh politics. It was on this day in 2019, Jagan Mohan Reddy completed his historic marathon walk from Idupulapaya in Kadapa to Ichapuram in Srikakulam district. He walked for 3468 km and the day finally landed him in the top seat.

The day is also becomes historic as Jagan Mohan Reddy as Chief Minister had launched yet another prestigious scheme from his Navarathnalu. He launched Amma Vodi scheme in Chittoor district on the day.

The scheme is aimed at giving Rs 15,000 to every mother who sends her children to the school. The scheme covers all children from LKG to Intermediate. It is extended to the children even in the private schools.

Thus, Jagan Mohan Reddy was busy on the day giving Rs 6456 crore from the state exchequer to benefit 81,72,224 children in the state.

Surprisingly, former chief minister and Leader of Opposition Chandrababu Naidu was busy begging on the streets.

Chandrababu Naidu went to Machilipatnam and went around the streets of this historic town begging. He begged from the people to take forward his movement to protect Amaravati where he and his loyalists invested several crore of rupees.

As alleged by the chief minister and the ruling YSR Congress leaders, a good number of politicians and NRIs have invested heavily in Amaravati. They purchased lands from the farmers even before Amaravati was announced as capital city.

Chandrababu Naidu is now under pressure from all these people to give them some sort of guarantee for their investment. It is now his responsibility to protect them and thus he was on the roads crying for Amaravati.
