‘I cried 4 times watching Nani’s Jersey’

Share

B-town actor Shahid Kapoor, after wooing his fans with Arjun Reddy’s remake Kabir Singh is doing another remake of Telugu. Nani’s hit film Jersey will be made in Hindi as well, with Shahid Kapoor as a lead role. After, Arjun Reddy’s remake, Kabir Singh, received a lot of flak for the content in the film. Both in Telugu and Hindi, Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh has been put against many people for showing or glorifying misogyny, violence and abusive love story.

Shahid Kapoor is now full-on busy with the Hindi version of Jersey and while talking to the media at the Star Screen Awards on Monday, the actor revealed that he cried four times after watching the Telugu version of Jersey because he could relate to the lead character, who is also close to his age. Shahid quoted as – “Firstly, I did not show any interest in doing another remake after Kabir Singh because people might that I’m only doing remakes. I wanted to do an original film. But, after watching Nani’s Jersey, it touched my heart. Besides being a film on cricket, it tells the story of a 36-year-old man who has a six-year-old son”.

Shahid Kapoor is also 38-year-old and he has a daughter Misha Kapoor, aged four. Hence, the story made the actor feel closer and much familiar. He added: “Even at times, I feel that I am not delivering a blockbuster film, so what should I do? Should I try something else? There is a time in everyone’s life when we wonder why we are not doing well in life. Then you do something else, or make some kind of compromise.”

The Telugu version of the film has moved Shahid tremendously and he added, “Deep down, I feel you should do things you love or feel connected to, whether you get success or not. Satisfaction by heart is important. That’s the message of this film. Actually, I cried four times when I saw the film. His journey is inspiring”.

Last month, the actor shared a video on his Instagram, where he is seen practising cricket for Jersey film. In the video, he is seen hitting a clean six over mid-on. The Hindi version of Jersey is scheduled for a release on August 28 2020. The film will be directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who also directed the Telugu original.

Two among the four Disha rapists are minors?

Share

The age of the two accused among the four in Disha’s rape and murder is being widely discussed now. On Monday the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has quizzed the parents of the four deceased and here, they reportedly told the NHRC that the police killed all them brutally without even considering that two are minors.

Taking these statements into consideration, NHRC has asked the parents to produce valid documents regarding the age of the two minors. Getting to know about this the Shadnagar police held raids at the residences of two who are claimed as minors.

In their search the police found the Aadhar cards and Bonafide certificates of the two rumoured to be minors. But surprisingly in the Aadhar card of one, the birth year is registered as 2001 while in the school Bonafide certificate, it is recorded as 15-8-2002. In one more minor’s certificate, the birth year is registered as 2004.

These are confusing even the cops and they are expressing their doubts on the documents. Also the police learned that neither Mohammad Arif and Chennakeshavulu have driving license despite they claiming as truck drivers which are heavy vehicles.

#Disha: NHRC shoots tough questions to the cops

Share

The investigation team of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has examined the bodies of Four Disha accused who were killed in an alleged encounter at Mahabubnagar government hospital. The team went to the hospital along with a forensic team.

Earlier, the team visited Chatanpally, where the four accused in Veterinary Doctor’s rape and murder case were encountered. The team also questioned the two police officers, including Venkateshwarlu, sub-inspector of police, and Aravind Goud, constable, who were injured during the alleged exchange of fire between the police and the accused on Friday at Chattanpally, near Shadnagar.

However, the questioning by NHRC has become much more severe today and they asked cops on why they did not try hard to catch the culprits alive when they tried to escape. “The four accused said to have snatched weapons from the police but only two policemen had weapons at that time. That means, only two of the accused must have held the guns. Why did you encounter all four of them?” asked the cops who were involved in the encounter.

Moreover, the primary culprit Mohammed Areef is said to be having three bullet injuries on his body. In spite of three bullets, how can Areef hold the gun and attack the cops, asked the team. Also, Chennakesavulu, another accused, had the gun in his hand even after falling on the ground, which made NHRC suspect the scene. Currently, the two cops who have been injured during the encounter are taking the treatment at Gachibowli care hospital and the NHRC team did not hesitate to ask crucial questions in the hospital for nearly three hours.

‘I lost power as I did injustice to NTR’

Share

“I was part of the injustice done to late N T Rama Rao. That is the reason I was out of power for 15 years. God had punished me for the crime.”

This shocking statement had come straight from the mouth of Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Thammineni Sitaram right on the floor of the Assembly on Tuesday.

He shocked every member in the House with this statement, much to the amuse of the ruling YSR Congress members and to the chagrin of the opposition TDP members.

The speaker said that the Assembly did not give a chance to NTR to speak in the House in 1995, which a crime and injustice in democracy.

“I was part of the conspiracy that denied NTR his right to speak in the House. I paid the price. Now, I honour the right of every member to speak in the House,” Sitaram told the House when TDP objected to the speaker giving a chance to expelled TDP MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi to speak.

While the TDP members staged a walk out from the Assembly for allowing Vamsi to speak, the speaker said that the House belonged to every member and every member had the right to speak, subject to the rule book of the House.

Sitaram’s confession is referred to the 1995 coup led by Chandrababu Naidu against NTR. The then speaker Yanamala Ramakrishnudu did not allow NTR to speak in the Assembly when Chandrababu Naidu was asked to take floor test to prove his majority.

Mahesh Team Irritated by Bunny’s Tricks

Share

Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun will clash each other at the box-office with their respective films – Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapurramloo – during Sankranthi festival.

Stiff competition between these movies has reached feverish high. However, Mahesh Babu didn’t play spoilsport to Allu Arjun’s plans when they had released the songs before.

Mahesh Babu’s team kept silent. They didn’t release any counter promotional material when ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramlo’ songs were being unveiled.

But Bunny’s team is doing nasty attempts whenever a song from ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ is releasing is what Mahesh Babu and co are feeling.

Mahesh Babu’s team has long back announced that they will release a song every Monday in December. As per their promotional plan, they are releasing videos.

But Allu Arjun and his team are unnecessarily posting some content at the same time to divert the attention from Sarileru.

The teaser of ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramlo’ will release on 11th December. It has already been announced on Monday morning but they have released a video of teaser glimpse just an hour before the second song of ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ hit YouTube in the evening. The so-called teaser glimpse lacks any impact.

When the first song of Mahesh Babu’s film got released, the team Bunny had released a video clip of ‘100 Million Views Samajavaragamana’.

Mahesh Babu’s team is furious that the team of ‘AVPL’ is deliberately provoking them. If this continues the same, they want to release something against Bunny’s movie. The two films are trying to get an upper hand.

Talasani Statement Lands KCR In Soup?

Share

The recent statement of Telangana minister for animal husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav suggesting that the killing of four rape and murder accused in an alleged encounter with the police was done with the knowledge of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has landed the latter in a big soup.

Talasani was referring to the criticism from the opposition parties about KCR’s unusual silence on the rape and murder of Disha, a veterinarian raped and murdered by the four accused on the night of November 27.

“If KCR is silent, it only means he is very agitated and angry. And he has shown his anger by getting the four accused killed encounter,” the minister said.

Apparently, the TRS leaders were unhappy over the way the entire credit for killing the four accused in Disha rape and murder case had gone to Cyberabad police commissioner V C Sajjannar, as was evident from the way he was hailed by the local and national media as a hero and the people performed milk bath to his portraits.

The TRS leaders wondered whether Sajjannar would have taken the decision to eliminate the accused in the encounter without the knowledge of the chief minister.

“The public support should come to the chief minister and not the police commissioner,” they argued.

That is perhaps why Talasani chose to give credit to KCR by stating that it was only because of the chief minister that the encounter had taken place, indicating that the entire episode was stage-managed.

However, what he has forgotten in the process that if the encounter was stage-managed and the killing of the four persons took place with full knowledge and orders of the chief minister, it would mean the latter had resorted to an illegal act and was liable for prosecution.

“It is very clear that Talasani brazenly tried to take political advantage of the encounter incident and leverage the heinous crime and the surge of people’s emotions, for petty political expediency,” a BJP leader said.

The BJP asked the state high court to take cognizance of Talasani’s statement that the encounter had the support of the chief minister.

“The police commissioner said the accused had snatched the weapons from the police and tried to shoot them; and the police had to retaliate, killing them on the spot. But Talasani says the four were killed following the chief minister’s orders. Who is correct,” he asked.

Koratala Siva and music composer Mani Sharma have almost locked all the tunes for the movie. They are holding music sittings in Bangkok for the past one week.

Sources close to Koratala have informed that the director is excited with the veteran music composer Mani Sharma’s bank of ideas.

Mani Sharma had earlier given musical hits to Chiranjeevi’s movies and he knows well what works for mega fans.

He has come up with a couple of mass-oriented tunes, a melodious tune and a superb dance number, add the source.

Koratala wanted a pulsating dance number and he got it. Chiranjeevi is known for his graceful dance steps and director Koratala will be presenting the vintage Chiranjeevi’s dance style with a modern touch.

The film’s regular shoot will commence next month. Chiranjeevi will appear in a rather different look in this film.

Mani Sharma is back in demand after the massive success of Ram starrer ‘iSmart Shankar’.

The untitled film will be produced by Ram Charan and Niranjan Reddy. Trisha is said to be playing the female lead.

Jabardasth Retains its Position, Nagababu Gets Trolled

Share

Has the Jabardasth program been affected by Naga Babu’s exit? This has been the pertinent question on the minds of media observers.

It is too early to give a final judgment but early trends show that the program’s brand name and ratings are intact.

The latest ratings prove that the comedy program is continuing the same popularity. Ratings didn’t go down. The comedy show is highly popular and has loyal fans. They are least bothered about the judges.

Each week they look forward to watching comedy skits. Naga Babu is not the creative force behind this program, he is just a judge on the show.

However, he split the team and took away key talented persons involved in the show along with him to the rival channel. So far, producer Shyam Prasad Reddy has nothing to worry about Naga Babu’s exit from the show.

On the other hand, trolls are having a field day. They are trolling Naga Babu for not affecting a single point of TRP with his exit.

YSRCP Nails TDP On Women Safety

Share

The ruling YSR Congress had conveniently grabbed the opportunity on the floor of the Assembly to nail the TDP on women safety in the state.

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly debates on the measures to be taken by the government for the safety of women.

The women MLAs of the ruling party expressed concern over the increasing threat to the women, particularly in the light of the Disha case reported in Hyderabad recently.

Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharitha, MLAs Vidudala Rajani, R K Roja and others spoke at length where they listed several incidents of crime reported during the TDP government.

Roja was at her best to nail TDP and it’s chief Chandrababu Naidu as she was suspended from the Assembly for one year during TDP regime.

Roja recalled how Thahsildar Vanajakshi was insulted by TDP MLA Chinthamaneni Prabhakar and how several women were sexually exploited by the TDP leaders in the name of call money.

Roja recalled that she was suspended for questioning the government which protected the TDP leaders from the sex racket.

The other women MLAs of the ruling party also grabbed the opportunity to expose TDP and Chandrababu Naidu on women issues and how Naidu protected his party leaders than the women.

Though Chandrababu Naidu tried to highlight some incidents of crime reported during the YSR Congress government, there appeared no takers to buy his argument.

With the ruling party members making fun and running commentary on TDP’s failure to protect women, Chandrababu Naidu was forced to extend his party’s support to the government in making new laws to protect women.

Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy expressed sympathies with the family of Hyderabad girls, Disha and congratulated the KCR government and Telangana police for killing the accused in encounter.

Jaganmohan Reddy said he looked at the Disha case as a father of two daughters and justified the encounter killing.

“I have a mother, sister, wife and two daughters. I was terrified to imagine if something happened to anyone of them in my family,” Jaganmohan Reddy said.

The chief minister favoured the law to investigate the crime, prosecute the case and award punishment in just 21 working days.

“Justice should not be delayed in cases where women are victims,” Jaganmohan Reddy said indicating a new law to come up in the state.

Jagan Law, A Terror For Rapists!

Share

For the last few days, the rape and murder of a veterinary doctor Disha at Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad and the subsequent killing of the four accused in an alleged encounter with the police have been making headlines in the media across the country.

But on Tuesday, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy got the headlines changed and attracted the attention of the nation.

He mooted a stringent legislation to be introduced in the assembly in a day or two, seeking to award death sentence to rape-and-murder accused within 21 days.

“Death penalty within 21 days,” screamed the headline in Sakshi. Stating that his government would bring in a “revolutionary” bill in the assembly on Wednesday, Jagan said it should create a sense of panic among the rapists that they would have to face the death if they indulge in such crimes.

Andhra Jyothy also took Jagan’s statement as second lead with a headline that the rapists would get instant punishment.

Eenadu also carried the same story as a banner, but with a different lead and different headline: “Hats off to KCR.” Obviously, the daily wanted to give an impression that Jagan, too, wants to follow KCR to deliver instant punishment to the rape accused, but through a 21-day legal process.

The unrest among the people on onion crisis in Andhra Pradesh is yet another story that interests the readers.

While Eenadu carried the version of the TDP on the onion crisis and the party MLAs coming to the assembly wearing onion garlands, Andhra Jyothy focused more on the people struggling to get onions and the death of an old man dying in queue for onions.

Sakshi, however, highlighted Jagan’s statement as to how the Andhra Pradesh government is the only state in the country that was making arrangements for supply of onions for Rs 25 a kg at Rythu Bazars.

The passage of the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill in Lok Sabha is yet another major story that was given considerable space in all the three major Telugu dailies.

Eenadu carried it as a prominent story in the bottom half of the page, Andhra Jyothy and Sakshi took the story as their flyers.

Interestingly, Eenadu highlighted the fact that YSR Congress party supported the bill with a view to maintaining cordial relationship with the Centre, while Telangana Rashtra Samithi strongly opposed the same.

The resounding victory of the BJP in the by-elections to 15 assembly seats in Karnataka was also given significant coverage by the Telugu media.

A stable government of the BJP in Karnataka will definitely have an impact on the neighbouring Telangana and also to some extent in Andhra, say analysts.

As usual, Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy carried a couple of stories that would needle the YSRC government. Eenadu carried a report of the Union water resources ministry stating that the Centre would release funds to Polavaram only if the state followed certain conditions.

On the other hand, Andhra Jyothy carried the first lead story on how chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy entered into a confrontation with the Centre by appointing senior IPS officer Manish Kumar Sinha as the state intelligence chief, much against the interests of the Union home ministry.

The report also quoted some other instances of Jagan taking decisions that would irritate the Centre. Needless to say, the objective of the news report is only to widen the gap between YSRC and BJP and create an impression that all is not well between the state and the Centre.

All in all, there is some spicy stuff to enjoy in the day’s major newspapers!
