Citizenship Amendment Bill Passed Midnight : 311 – 80
Amidst high drama until the midnight, the Lok Sabha has finally passed the crucial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) 2019 last night. After over seven hour long debate, the bill has been passed with 311 members voted favouring it and 80 votes against it in the lower house.
Opposition members have brought several amendments to the Bill. Even Shiv Sena MP had brought one amendment to the Bill. However, all those amendments proposed by the Opposition have been defeated either by voice vote or by a division.
“Delighted that the Lok Sabha has passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 after a rich and extensive debate. I thank the various MPs and parties that supported the Bill. This Bill is in line with Indias centuries old ethos of assimilation and belief in humanitarian values,” PM Modi tweeted after the Bill is passed.
Amit Shah too took to Twitter to thank PM Modi and the others who supported this bill. He wrote, “I extend my gratitude to PM @narendramodi for making the historic Citizenship Amendment Bill a reality, that will allow India to open its doors to minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who are facing religious persecution. I thank everyone who supported this bill.”
Meanwhile, the communists have opposed the bill. CPM’s Sitaram Yechury said, “We reject this bill of Jinnah and Savarkar’s dreams. It is unconstitutional, and divides our people. We will continue to fight against it in all possible forums.”
The opposition argues that the Bill violates Article 14 of the Indian Constitution — the Right to Equality. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said the bill violates the basic idea of India that religion can never be a reason for citizenship.
What is Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) 2019?
The proposed legislation amends the Citizenship Act, 1955 to make Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Christians and Parsis who got into India from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh are eligible for Indian citizenship. The bill seeks to address the historical wrongdoings of religious persecution on Non-Muslim refugees from the three states by providing them Indian citizenship. According to the bill, the non-Muslim refugees, who have come from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, till December 31, 2014 and facing religious persecution there, will not be treated as illegal immigrants and will be given Indian citizenship. What if an applicant doesn’t have proof of birth? In such a case they can apply for citizenship after six years of staying in the country.
3 Weeks, 4 Films @ Targeting All South States
In the coming three weeks of December, we have films like Venky Mama, Ruler, Prathiroju Pandage, Iddari Lokam Okate and Mathu Vadalara are hitting Telugu screens. But there is competition from other non-Telugu biggies which actually want to snatch a crown. Here goes the interesting snippet.
There are four big films right now that are actually trying to sweep not just in their native languages, but also trying to make their presence in all of the south. The first of them is Mammotty’s Malayalam movie “Mamangam” which is also hitting cinemas in all the four South languages. As the trailer turned out to be impressive with its historical look, the film is eyeing big.
Later we have Siva Karthikeyan’s Hero movie, which is releasing a big way in Tamil on December 20th. We hear that preparations are being made either to release the dubbed versions in other south languages within a week gap. As the concept of the film resembled a superhero flick if the trailer is anything to go by, expectations are high from it.
Of course, if Baahubali, Saaho and Sye Raa could go to Bollywood, why not Hindi movies come here? So we have Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2 getting released in Telugu along with Hindi and other southern languages on December 25th. As the trailer promised a mass commercial flick, who knows, it might click big time as Prabhudeva’s South sensibilities also come advantage to it.
Finally, we have Kannada movie Avane Srimannarayana, which is releasing in south languages and Hindi in the lines of KGF. As the trailer received a terrific response upon release, the makers are hoping that the December 27th release is going to register earth shattering openings.
So, in the next 3 weeks, we have 4 films, of which 2 have superstars Salman and Mammootty, trying to snatch away the No 1 crown at the box office in other languages. Let’s see what happens.
Vamsi says ‘Pappu Gang’, Naidu walks out
TDP rebel MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi has issued a clarification on meeting AP CM YS Jagan and the consequences.
However the moment Vamsi started speaking on it, TDP MLAs raised objections and interrupted him.
“This is not the first time that I met Jagan. In the past I met him many a times. I did meet Jagan only for the development of my constituency. But as I met Jagan, TDP suspended me from party,” said Vamsi.
Adding, “To all my concerns, CM has responded in positive manner and at the same time, I welcomed the decision of YSRCP government which introduced English medium in all government run schools.”
Further Vamsi said when he welcomed this English medium, a batch called ‘Pappu Gang’ started targeting me in social media. “Even I won as an MLA on TDP ticket and don’t know why Chandrababu walked out of the house,” said the Gannavaram MLA.
Lastly Vamsi appealed the Speaker to consider him as a special member of the house as he was suspended from TDP.
Speaker Tammineni expressed his anger on TDP leaders for interrupting Vamsi continuously. “This house has seen many such incidents when one party MLAs were suspended and defected into other parties and still graced the Assembly. You (TDP) have no right to suppress the voice of another member of the house,” said Tammineni.
KJO Finding Star Hindi Heroine For Devarakonda
In a bid to release their next in Bollywood as well, director-producer Puri Jagan and his “Fighter” hero Vijay Devarakonda are trying every possible option. Finally, we hear that they are said to have landed in a major deal with a Bollywood producer to do the same.
Ever since Vijay started frequenting Mumbai to get close with Bollywood personnel, he’s got much closer to Karan Johar. Since then, Karan is said to have made an agreement to make movies with Vijay D as well and now he’s said to have got aboard “Figher” too.
The latest update is that Karan Johar will be now joining as a partner to this project and he will be finding a leading Bollywood heroine for the film. Earlier the likes of Jhanvi Kapoor and Kiara Advani have rejected this Telugu film, but now that Karan is aboard and also the chances of making the movie’s Hindi release quite possible, many starlets may form the beeline.
Some inside reports are coming up that Karan Johar may set up Alia Bhatt for this film, or someone close to him including the likes of Sara Alia Khan if not Jhanvi Kapoor. Well, if the film gets a star Bollywood girl and Puri Jagan delivers this time in Hindi, then Vijay D will be next to Prabhas there.
Producer’s Close Escape From 2 Big Flops

Producer Miryala Ravinder Reddy had a close escape from two major flops. Miryala Ravinder Reddy, who produced films like Saahasam Swaasaga Saagipo and Jaya Janaki Nayaka, had a narrow escape from two big duds of Kartikeya.
Miryala Ravinder Reddy was supposed to produce Kartikeya’s Guna 369 as well as 90 ML. In fact, Ravinder Reddy had also opened an office for 90 ML and had run for over 3 months. He had also paid advance monies to the team. Apparently, Miryala Ravinder Reddy had suggested some changes in the script of 90 ML. He asked director to make changes in the second half. Director reportedly denied to make any changes. Since hero Kartikeya too stood by the director, producer Ravinder Reddy has backed out of the film.
With no other option, the film is produced by Kartikeya’s home banner. And the film has been outrightly rejected by the critics and audience alike. Ravinder Reddy has got a huge sigh of relief. However, Ravinder Reddy isn’t lucky. He is now shelling out a whopping budget for Balakrishna and Boyapati film which is a big risk given its landing cost.
I Regret for dishonoring NTR: Speaker Tammineni

TDP leaders found fault with AP Assembly speaker Tammineni Sitharam for allowing rebel TDP MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi to speak in the house. TDP chief Chandrababu and Speaker Tammineni had a heated argument over this and losing his cool, Chandrababu said assembly is not YSRCP office.
Reacting on this Tammineni asked the TDP chief to withdraw his comments or else will leave to his fate. “Assembly is nobody’s and it belongs to people as they have elected as us to be here to solve their problems. As a speaker, I used my special powers and allowed Vallabhaneni Vamsi to speak,” said Tammineni.
Recalling the incident of denying Telugu Desam founder NTR to speak in the assembly, Tammineni said, “I got elected to the assembly six times and I was also part of the dishonor that had been done to NTR. I paid the price for it and stayed out of power for nearly 15 years.”
Considering Vallabhaneni Vamsi’s request, Tammineni permitted him to be seated wherever he wants in Assembly house.
Chandrababu Wife Reacts On Jagan’s ‘Heritage’ Comments

Yesterday in the assembly, AP CM YS Jagan criticized Chandrababu on the onion prices. “AP government is selling onions at Rs 25 whereas Chandrababu’s Heritage supermarket is selling them for Rs 200 per kilo,” stated Jagan.
Reacting to the AP CM’s comments in the Assembly, NTR Trust member Nara Bhuvaneswari said, “Never in my life, I have seen onion prices going so up. Common man is seriously getting troubled due to rising prices. The union and state governments should strive to bring the onion prices down as early as possible.”
About Heritage, Bhuvaneswari said, “We have nothing to do with onion prices in Heritage supermarkets. Heritage now belongs to Future Group as they are managing the whole logistics.”
If we go back to 2016, Future Retail chairman and managing director Kishore Biyani has acquired Hyderabad-based Heritage Foods Ltd which was then promoted by Chandrababu Naidu’s family members.
Hope Bhuvaneswari’s statements settles the issue that Heritage retail businesses now doesn’t belong to the Nara family.
15 Crore Deficit For Balayya’s Film?

According to inside sources, Balakrishna and KS Ravi Kumar’s Ruler is going through a huge turbulence. As the film’s business is not closed, producer C Kalyan is having a tough time to release the film. Apparently, the film is being released with a whopping Rs 15 Crore deficit.
Talk is that the film has costed around Rs 35 Crore to 40 Crore including remunerations, abroad shoots and the action episodes. But the film’s theatrical business is largely affected. This is worrying C Kalyan to the core.
Clashing with Prati Roju Pandaage is also another big hurdle for Balayya’s film. It needs to be seen whether this mass masala film of Balayya and KS Ravi Kumar would overcome all these odds or not.
Star screen awards: Who wore it better?
She deserves all the attention because Deepika has intellectually chosen her outfit suiting to her body type. One-shoulder dress and a black attire made the actress look even more tall and slim, like a beauty goddess. Also, with her new hair cut, Deepika flaunted and carried off short hair in extreme confidence. The body-tight-fit dress and a long trail are a big plus in her look and not to forget her smokey eyes!
CM Jagan, Won’t React To Pawan Kalyan!

Even as Pawan Kalyan is going on and on and has unleashed an all-round attack on CM Jagan and his administration – be it on the English medium instruction or the onion price hike or any other issue per say, AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has refrained from responding to Pawan. Neither CM Jagan nor any of the party leaders have responded to the attack of Pawan Kalyan.
Apparently, political observers have advised CM Jagan not to respond to Pawan’s comments and told him to be silent on Pawan. They have advised Jagan and his party leaders not to take Pawan seriously. He has been advised that unnecessarily Pawan would gain importance and significance if a CM respond to him. He was told to not make Pawan bigger than what he is now.
Jagan has been instructed to only target Chandrababu and Lokesh. So, even in the Assembly, YCP’s prime target is Naidu. In fact, YCP has chalked out a perfect strategy to target Chandrababu through its own TDP leaders like Vamsi. This is more painful to Chandrababu. Looks like, YCP is making its moves more faster and stronger making the Opposition weak and breathless.

Jagan’s Touching gesture Towards Atcchannaidu
In the last assembly sessions, AP CM YS Jagan mocked TDP leader Atcchannaidu with body shaming comments. “For few leaders, the body size has doubled but brain is just the same which is very tiny,” satired Jagan.
Recently the TDP leader Atcchannaidu met with a road accident and sustained minor injuries. On Monday morning, CM Jagan, YSRCP leaders and TDP leaders attended the BAC meeting before the commencement of assembly sessions. Noticing that Atchannaidu was also there, Jagan directly walked towards him and asked about the accident and injuries.
Atcchannaidu too politely replied and showed his arm which got more hurt. For a few minutes, Jagan and the TDP leader had light-hearted talk and then the BAC meeting resumed. YSRCP leaders present over there said, see our leader (Jagan) has immense respect for you to Atcchannaidu.
In reply the TDP leader said, we have nothing personal against each other. “He (Jagan) is in his own established party and I’m in TDP. It’s just the distance,” said Atcchannaidu.
