Keeravani’s elder son Kaala Bhairava is debuting as music director with Mathu Vadhalara. The film is making much noise with top celebrities coming forward to promote it. The teaser of Mathu Vadalara has been launched by Ram Charan.

Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Biddalu Gets Censor Clearance

Share

Ram Gopal Varma’s controversial political thriller ‘Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Biddalu’ has finally been cleared by the Censor Board.

The film was referred to the revising committee and the committee has given clearance with some cuts.

Elated Ram Gopal Varma said that there ‘still is freedom of expression in our country.’ He also announced the release date as December 12. It will compete with Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya starrer ‘Venky Mama’.

The film was originally titled ‘Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Reddlu’ but RGV has changed the title to ‘Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Biddalu’ after objections were raised.

Though it is a fictional political thriller, all the characters in the film resemble real-life politicians like Chandrababu Naidu, Lokesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, KA Paul, and Pawan Kalyan.

Evangelist KA Paul moved to court to stall the film’s release but he didn’t get any relief.

Now, RTC Fare Hike In Andhra!

Share

Within a week of the Telangana government effecting a steep increase in the fares of its Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus services, the Andhra Pradesh government has also followed the suit.

Minister for Information and Public Relation Perni Nani on Saturday announced an increase of 20 paise per kilometre for all the district services and 10 paise for Palle Velugu (rural services) and city buses.

He said chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had given his nod for the RTC fare hike after the APSRTC board took the decision in this regard.

He said the accumulated losses of APSRTC were to the tune of Rs 6,735 crore. The corporation has a debt burden to the extent of Rs 2,995 crore, besides outstanding payments of around Rs 3,740 crore.

The minister said the steep increase in the diesel price, which was Rs 50 in 2015 and reached Rs 75 per litre, has also caused huge burden on the RTC.

“The increased salaries of the employees and pay revision commission arrears added to the financial burden of the RTC,” he said.’

Stating that the RTC was on the verge of bankruptcy, Nani said the corporation was incurring a loss of Rs 1200 crore every year and the debt burden was mounting by Rs 100 crore every month.

“Hence, the bus fare hike,” he said.

Left Dumps Pawan After His New Avatar!

Share

Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan’s latest avatar donning a virtual saffron robe has distanced him from his old friends – the CPI and CPI (M).

The Left parties, which have been maintaining some distance from Pawan for the last couple of months following Jana Sena’s debacle in the last general elections, have been fuming at him for getting closer to the Bharatiya Janata Party of late.

“Vinasha Kale Vipareetha Buddhi,” was the comment made by CPI (M) leader P Madhu following Pawan’s statement that he had never moved away from the BJP and was always closer to it and that he had a lot of respect towards BJP national president Amit Shah.

“Pawan’s statement clearly shows his immature politics. It will further bring down his value in the state politics,” Madhu observed.

In the last assembly elections, the Left parties formed an alliance with the Jana Sena Party, hoping to a win a seat or two, taking advantage of Pawan’s popularity. They were also talking high of Pawan’s Leftist thinking and his proximity to their ideology.

But after realising that Pawan has no support base among the people, the Left parties have been maintaining safe distance from him. Now that he has shown affinity towards the BJP, the Left parties have got an excuse to dump Pawan.

Allu Aravind Ready To Take On Amazon and Netflix

Share

The rise of OTT (over the top) streaming platforms in India has given additional boost to film producers.

However, there aren’t many local options to raise the stakes for the rights. Producers had to settle with whatever Netflix or Amazon Prime Video offer.

There are other desi platforms like Zee5 and SunNXT, but Prime and Netflix are currently ruling the roost.

Veteran producer Allu Aravind believed that now is the right time to venture into OTT business to raise the stakes.

Allu Aravind along with a couple of other industrialists is venturing into OTT business. They had already acquired streaming rights of recent release Arjun Suravaram for Rs. 2.5 Cr.

The entry of Tollywood top producer like Allu Aravind will force OTT giants Netflix and Prime Video to offer big prices to make sure to acquire the rights.

It is great news for Telugu Cinema as a few other influential producers also will hop on soon.

Boyapati-Balayya Film A Burdem For Producer?

Share

Boyapati Srinu’s much awaited third collaboration with Balakrishna after Simha and Legend has finally become reality as the film had a formal launch yesterday.

Dil Raju and Mythri Movie Makers have shown interest in producing this one, but backed out after Boyapati has given them an estimated budget of Rs. 70 Cr.

It’s huge and highly risky given the market range of Balakrishna. Who would take such a risk after seeing the results of Paisa Vasool and NTR biopic?

Boyapati’s friend Miryala Ravinder Reddy who made Jaya Janaki Nayaka is bankrolling it. Both Boyapati and Balayya will take home over Rs. 10 Cr each and the making cost will not be less than Rs. 40 Cr.

Pics: Boyapati – Balakrishna New Film Launch

The film’s making costs will touch Rs. 70 Cr with the inclusion of other expenses. In current scenario, a Balakrishna-Boyapati film may not make Rs. 50 Cr including theatrical and non-theatricals.

So producer Ravinder Reddy is in for high risk considering all of the above statistics.

Fact Sheet: BMR quits TDP, joins YSRC

Share

In a yet another rude shock to the Telugu Desam Party, prominent businessman from ellore and two-time legislator Beeda Masthan Rao resigned from the party and joined the YSR Congress party in the presence of chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday.

Popularly known as BMR, the former MLA from Kavali wrote a letter to TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu saying that he was quitting the party on personal reasons.

BMR’s resignation is a big setback to the TDP, as he is one of the prominent BC leaders from Nellore belonging to the Yadava community.

Though BMR was asking for Kavali assembly seat again, Naidu forced him to contest the parliamentary elections from Nellore against Adala Prabhakar Reddy of YSR Congress party. BMR lost by a margin of over 1.48 lakh votes.

Adala was originally given the TDP ticket from Nellore (rural) assembly constituency, but even as he was taking part in the election campaign, he defected to the YSRC and got the MP ticket from Nellore in place of sitting candidate Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy.

Since then, BMR had been sulking in the TDP. He also had been under tremendous pressure to safeguard his business interests, in the wake of a series of raids by the Income Tax department on his ventures, including a shrimp farming and exports firm.

Over 25 years, the BMR Group has grown to an industrial conglomerate with 250 hectares of hatcheries, 600 hectares of farming, on-site labs and feed mills, a state-of-the-art factory covering 50,000 sq. ft. in Dhamavaram, with a capacity of 25 metric tonnes per day.

During the TDP regime, his name was also considered for the post of the chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), but the chance went to another Yadav – Putta Sudhakar Yadav from Kadapa. He, however, was made a member of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority.

BMR served as an MLA of Kavali Assembly segment for two successive terms in 2004 and 2009, before he lost to the YSRCP candidate in 2014. His brother, Beeda Ravichandra, is presently heading the Nellore district unit of the TDP.

Jagan stalls spending of money on Tadepalli house!

Share

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is learnt to have withdrawn the orders releasing money for sprucing up his residence at Tadepalli in Guntur district to avoid unnecessary criticism.

According to sources, Jagan is learnt to have directed the department of roads and buildings to cancel the allocation of funds for making certain changes in his residence including purchase of furniture, erection of aluminium partitions and construction of toilets etc.

In all, the Jagan government ordered withdrawal of five GOs, releasing Rs 3.10 crore for taking up various works at his Tadepalli residence and Lotus Pond house in Hyderabad, such as security installations, temporary arrangements and purchase of furniture.

The Telugu Desam Party made a lot of noise over spending of nearly Rs 15.65 crore for various works at Jagan’s Tadepalli house.

However, out of this amount, over Rs 5.5 crore was spent only on improving road facility to his bungalow which would be beneficial even to the local villagers.

Similarly, the department spent a few lakhs of rupees for creating helipad adjacent to Jagan’s residence, which is essential for his travel purposes.

The bungalow at Tadepalli is Jagan’s personal residence but after he became the chief minister, it had been converted into the official bungalow and camp office.

Therefore, it required some modifications by the government owing to security reasons, sources said.
