At last, senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar was out on bail after being in jail for 66 days in connection with a series of cases filed against him.
Prabhakar had served the judicial remand for the last case filed against him and was released from Eluru sub-jail on Sunday on obtaining bail from the court. He was accorded a grand welcome outside the jail by his followers and TDP workers.
Chintamaneni was thrown behind bars for 66 days, as the police booked as many as 18 cases against him. If he got bail in one case, the police immediately arrested him in another case in East and West Godavari districts. The court continued the remand.
Finally, after completing the hearing in the final case, the Eluru district court has granted bail to former MLA.
TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu called up Chintamaneni and consoled him.
Stating that all the cases foisted against him by the YSR Congress government were false, Naidu told him to face the situation boldly and continue to fight against the government.
He alleged that as many as nine cases were foisted against Chintamaneni under SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act. He said he would be going to West Godavari tour on Monday and meet Chintamaneni there.
Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has the habit of trying to take political mileage from any issue, even if it requires exploiting religious sentiments.
This was the allegation made by YSR Congress party leader and endowments minister Vellampalli Srinivas on Saturday.
He was referring to Naidu’s recent allegations against YSRC president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy that the latter was encouraging a particular religion at the cost of majority Hindus.
He wondered why Naidu was making irrelevant allegations against Jagan stating that the latter was promoting propagation of other religions at Hindu religious places.
“Why is he talking in the tone of Bharatiya Janata Party? May be he is trying to merge his party into the BJP,” he said.
“It is unfortunate that the Opposition leader is trying to ignite religious sentiments by making false allegations against the government and the chief minister,” he said.
Vellampalli said that the opposition parties have been raising issues with religious sentiments and are trying to tarnish the image of chief minister but they will fail in their efforts.
The allegations of religious propagation on RTC tickets at Tirumala and the painting at Bhavani islands were done during the previous TDP government itself, he said.
He warned that the government would not hesitate to take criminal action against people who make such false allegations.
Rebel TDP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi has apologized to TDP leader Rajendra Prasad for making abusive comments while on a debate in a popular news channel.
Vamsi once again called on the media and reacted on the TDP leaders comments in the last two days. Explaining the incident, ‘I just entered the television debate and Rajendra Prasad (RP) started commenting that I fell on Chandrababu Naidu’s feet and took crore of Rupees from him for election campaign. But that’s not true, I took blessing of Chandrababu as he is elderly person and after that I lost my cool with RP’s comments. I’m sorry for my comments,’ said Vamsi.
The Gannavaram MLA clarified that he did not break any Hindu Dharma here. ‘Yes I was in ‘Swamy Mala’ and made abusive comments. But what happened to Rajendra Prasad. Can he make insulting comments against me?,’ questioned Vamsi. He added that he did give money for RP’s daughter’s wedding and later Sujana Chowdary reimbursed the money.
Then Vamsi slammed Nara Lokesh. ‘He (Lokesh) asked to resign to the MLA post. I will definitely do it. What about you? You lost the MLA elections but did you resign to your MLC post. Why are you sticking to it,’ asked Vamsi.

With big films staying away from slack season, small budget films and dubbed films are trying their luck at the box office. Low budget comedy film Tenali Ramakrishna BA. BL. released on Friday and has opened to disappointing reports. The film hasn’t registered decent numbers on its first day and it is unlikely to pick up given the poor word of mouth.
Vishal’s high-octane action thriller Action also was released on Friday, but has been receiving average reports from the target audience. The film was sold for high price compared to Vishal’s recent outings and it will be hard to recover its costs at this rate. Vijay Sethupathi had a delayed released due to financial issues.
Last week’s release Thippara Meesam is a total washout while Bollywood’s Bala continues to hold well. Karthi’s Khaidi turned out to be a profitable venture for all parties and Vijay’s Whistle has been able to breakeven.
The suspense around Venky Mama release date is over, well almost. Suresh Babu made it clear that it will release in December. He also mentioned that they are considering December 13th as it is Venkatesh’s birthday and they had never released a movie on his birthday to this date. Strategically, Dec 13 is a good date for Venky Mama as it will be the first big release after a long gap, he said.
Suresh said that the release date will be made official in a couple of days. Meanwhile, second single from the film has been launched today on the occasion of Thaman’s birthday. Suresh Babu while talking to a YouTube channel said that theatrical business has been affected a lot due to OTT platforms.
According to him, Cinema has become weekend and holiday business. “People are coming to watch only spectacle films like Sye Raas and Saahos. Or else youth are happy to stream content on NetFlix and Amazon. I am worried with the recent development as running theaters is getting tougher by the day,” he said.
