Telugu: 3rd Most Popular Indian Language in US
Telugu is said to be the third most spoken Indian language in the United States. According to a survey released by US Census Bureau, Telugu language stood at third place in the popular Indian languages in the US. While Hindi stood at No.1, Gujarati was ranked No.2.
Interestingly, percentage-wise, the Telugu-speaking crowd grew highest compared to any other Indian language between 2010 and 2018. As per the stats, the number of Telugu-speaking individuals rose 79.5 percent between 2010 and 2018 thus Telugus have outstripped speakers of the other Indian languages.
Whereas, the Hindi speaking population grew only by 43.5 percentage. Bengali-speaking population recorded a rise of 68 percent i.e next to Telugu-speaking population. Meanwhile, Tamil speakers increased at 67.5 percent. These are the figures from The American Community Survey (ACS) for 2018 which was conducted by the US Census Bureau.
As per the numbers, Hindi population is said to be 8.74 lakh speakers as of July 1, 2018. Compared to 2017, this is 1.3 percent increase. Between 2010 to 2018, i.e an 8-year-period, Hindi population in US is increased by 2.65 lakh, a rise of 43.5 percent.
US Census Bureau reveals that 67.3 million residents in the US aged over five (which includes native-born, legal and illegal immigrants) does not speak English at home and speak other language at home.
Can Pawan Kalyan Resolve RTC Strike?
Leaders of joint action committee of Telangana RTC employees’ unions have been meeting every political leader seeking support to their agitation for a solution to their legitimate demands.
As part of that, they approached power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan as well on Thursday. They gave a representation to him and sought his support.
The Jana Sena chief came out with a surprising announcement. He said he would meet Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and personally make a request to him to resolve the crisis in the RTC.
“I will seek an appointment of the chief minister and prevail upon him to consider the genuine demands of the RTC workers. I will request KCR to find a solution to the RTC crisis. If I don’t get appointment, I will think and decide what can be done,” he said.
Pawan wondered why KCR was so angry with the RTC workers.
“It is the question of not an organisation but the livelihood of 48,000 workers and families depending on them. The government should be sympathetic towards their demands,” he said.
He said he would also meet senior leaders K Keshava Rao, KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao. He also assured to talk to Keshava Rao over phone.
However, what Pawan has failed to understand is that KCR has already taken a decision to wind up the RTC and that is precisely why he is so adamant on their demand of the RTC workers.
Most probably, the Telangana chief minister will finalise his decision at the cabinet meeting to be held on November 3 on privatisation of RTC.

When a leader is in power, he says law will take its own course with regard to people facing criminal charges.
But when the same leader loses power and gets into opposition, he accuses the government of targeting his party leaders for political vengeance.
Take the case of Nara Lokesh, TDP general secretary and former minister during the regime of his father N Chandrababu Naidu.
He never uttered a word when the previous government was filing cases against the YSR Congress party leaders and letting the TDP leaders go scot free despite indulging in criminal activities.
Now, this same gentleman is crying from roof tops when the YSRC government is taking action against the TDP leaders facing criminal cases.
On Thursday, Lokesh went to Eluru jail to call on senior TDP leader and former Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar, who has been facing several cases, including those filed under SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act. He extended his solidary with the jailed TDP leader.
Lokesh assured that the party would solidly stand by Chintamaneni, come what may. He accused the YSRC government of indulging in political vendetta.
The TDP general secretary also went to the house of Chintamaneni and called on his family members.
He assured that the former MLA would definitely come out of all the cases which are being foisted on him one after the other, so that he cannot come out of jail.
Hindu Mahasabha Demands A Ban On Prakash Raj
Actor-turned-politician Prakash Raj falls into trouble again as a 2018 video of him comparing the Hindu festival of RamLeela with Child porn has now gone viral in outrage. Prakash Raj is seen accusing Uttar Pradesh Chief Miniter Yogi Adityanath of promoting RamLeela events.
His statements of calling the whole event bringing in the fear among minorities have created a stir. He also accused that CM Yogi participating in religious activities is nothing but just a drama.
Hindu Mahasabha has found his statements of comparing RamLeela with Childporn wrong on many levels and filed a complaint to Karnataka film chamber demanding for a ban of Prakash Raj from films altogether. They stated that Prakash Raj’s statements have offended Hindu Gods, Hindu beliefs, Ramayana and the entire community followers.
Demanding to immediately banish Prakash Raj from Kannada film industry, members of Akhila Bharata Hindu Mahasabha asked to not give him any offers.
They have also aggressively stated in the letter that, if offers are given in spite of their demand, there will be more furious and wrath fight from their side. On the other hand, netizens have already trended the hashtag #PrakashInsultsRam and started boycotting his films.
Pawan: I’ll Discuss With KCR On RTC Strike
RTC union leaders have met Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan today at his party office in Hyderabad and sought his support for the ongoing indefinite RTC strike. Responding positively to RTC union leaders, Pawan Kalyan opined that it is not good for government to behave in a rigid way.
Stating that he has high regards and respect for CM KCR, Pawan Kalyan said he would discuss the matter with Chief Minister and try to resolve the issue. Pawan said it is very painful to know that RTC workers have been protesting for over 27 days. He has asked RTC employees not to resort to any drastic steps and asked them not to resort to suicides.
Pawan Kalyan said he would meet CM KCR in a couple of days and would sought solution in this issue. Interestingly, Pawan said that he would extend his full support to RTC employees for their future action if CM KCR fails to respond positively. Ashwathama Reddy and other leaders of RTC unions were among the RTC leaders who had met Pawan Kalyan. Looks like, Pawan Kalyan is stirring a hornet’s nest as several top leaders and political parties have failed to arrive at a solution in RTC deadlock. Especially when CM KCR is serious on the issue and called the strike as ‘meaningless’, Pawan’s support to it and his hope that CM KCR would listen to him is a bit shocking. Let us wait and see, what is in store.

H-1B visa rejections increased!
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services have released new information that can upset some people, especially those who are dreaming of working in the US. The H-1B rejection rates are increasing every passing day and though the rejections are pretty common today, denials reached a whole new level.
In September, Indians heard a piece of good news from the US declaration that they shall be working on simplifying the visa process so that it can help reduce turnaround times for visa renewals. However, the latest information from the data tells otherwise. The denial rates for H-1B petitions have increased significantly from 6% in FY2015 to 24% in the first three-quarters of FY2019 for new H-1B petitions. This was for the initial employment or first-time applicants.
For ‘continuing employment’, there was a 12% rise in declination of H-1B petitions, which was 4 times more as compared to FY2015, when the denial rate was only 3%. Continuing employment is usually extensions for exiting employees. As we know earlier, the news came in that, IT firms like Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro and Capgemini has faced many rejections but companies like Amazon, Walmart, Google, Apple did not face obstacles in hiring Indian employees. Infosys saw 45% rejection, Wipro with 53% and cognisant wit 60% rejections. But Google got only 3% rejection rate and Amazon with 6%.
Even the Request for Evidence RFE approval rates have fallen significantly from 83% to 65% in a span of 2015 to 2019. Now that H1B transfers are extremely difficult with 60% RFE, one should fathom that there are low time scale and high rejection rates. The skilled H1B workforce is certainly illiquid in the US as a result of the reaction.
Good news to Yash fans! KGF Chapter 1 to re-release tomorrow
On November 1st, Sandalwood is all set to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava, also known as Karnataka formation day. These statewide celebrations will have ‘Rocking Star’ Yash fans another good news and that is, Yash’s blockbuster KGF Chapter 1 is set for a re-release on November 1.
Amid receiving congratulatory wishes for giving birth to their second child, Yash and his wife Radhika Pandit, are also excited to see their hit flick, directed by Prashanth Neel, to release all over again in 30 screens in Karnataka. KGF Chapter 1 has the first Kannada film to see a pan-India release. The film has also been marked as one of the highest-grossing films ever in Kannada.
Currently, Yash is busy with the shooting of KGF Chapter 2 and this part will have Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon joining the cast. The new appeared that Raveena will play the role of former late PM Indira Gandhi’s character, however, the information is yet to be confirmed by the filmmakers.
While fans are pretty exciting for its sequel to be released, the news of part one re-release is once again bringing in the rejoice among Yash fans. The news has been first shared by executive producer Karthik Gowda on Twitter and the film is said to be there for a week in theatres.
Was Anushka Sharma served coffee by selectors?
Indian actress Anushka Sharma, who is married to Indian captain Virat Kohli, has been under the scanner ever a former Indian cricketer claimed that she was served tea by Indian selectors during ICC World Cup 2019 – which was held in England and Wales earlier this year.
Reacting to all those reports, Anushka posted a lengthy statement on Twitter – where she said she came to watch a match during the mega event, which she witnessed from the family box and not selectors box.
Anushka also recalled incidents when she was blamed for Kohli’ and Indian cricket team’s poor performances on the field.
Anushka’s reaction comes after former Indian cricketer Farokh Engineer claimed that she was served coffee by Indian selectors.
Slamming Indian selectors, Engineer questioned how the current batch of selectors were fit enought to be in the position.
Engineer also recalled an incident where he did not recognise one of the selectors who was wearing a blazer.
“Virat Kohli has a major impact (in the process) which is very good. But how are the selectors qualified? Between them, have they played about 10-12 Test matches. I didn’t even know one of the selectors during the World Cup and I asked him ‘who the hell he was’, because he was wearing the India blazer and he said he was one of the selectors. All they were doing was getting Anushka Sharma (Kohli’s wife) cups of tea. I feel people with the stature of Dilip Vengsarkar should be in the selection committee,” Engineer said.
In her statement, Anushka recalled all those moments where he chose to be quiet despite being unnecessarily dragged into controversies surrounding Indian team’s poor performance on the field.
