AP police raid Akhila Priya’s house in Hyderabad

In a dramatic style, Andhra Pradesh police have raided the house of former TDP minister Bhuma Akhila Priya in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning.

A case was filed against Akhila Priya’s husband Bhargav and 10 others in Allagadda police station in Kurnool district. Since then, they have been avoiding arrest by the police.

On credible information, the AP police made an attempt to enter into the house of Akhila Priya in Hyderabad. As the inmates resisted, they took the help of Banjara Hills Police station.

The AP and TS police, gained entry into Akhila Priya’s house from the balcony of her neighbour.

Though Akhila Priya resisted the entry of the police into her house without search or arrest warrant, the police could manage to get inside and arrest her associates, who are accused in an attempt to murder case.

Akhila Priya and her relative Sivarama Reddy are running a stone crushing unit at Kondapur in Allagadda.

As they developed differences, Akhila Priya made an attempt to grab the crushing unit with the help of her husband and 10 of their followers.

Bhargav along with his supporters made an attempt on the workers in the crushing unit on September 15. Though the workers escaped unhurt, Bhargav allegedly locked the crushing unit on September 27, following which Sivarama Reddy lodged a complaint.

Since then, it is said that Bhargav and his supporters have been hiding in Akhila Priya’s residence, the police said.

No solution in sight as TSRTC strike enters 18th day

Hyderabad: The striking employees of state-owned Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) adopted a novel way to protest on Tuesday as their indefinite strike entered the 18th day.

The striking employees presented flowers to the temporary employees to request them not to operate the buses. The protestors were seen meeting temporary drivers and conductors and presenting them roses with a request to cooperate with them by not attending the duties.

The temporary employees were told that the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the striking employees is also fighting for filling up the vacancies in the transport utility and, hence they will also gain from the ongoing strike.

More than 48,000 employees of TSRTC have been on strike since October 5 to press for their demands, which includes the merger of the TSRTC with the government so that they are treated at par with the government employees.

Taking a tough stand against the employees, the state government called the strike illegal and rejected all their demands. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao not only ruled out talks, but also declared that except 1,200 all others who failed to join duty before the expiry of deadline cease to be TSRTC employees. He made it clear that there is no question of taking back the employees.

While employees continued their protest with the support of the opposition parties, various trade unions, student bodies and people’s organisations, the TSRTC have been operating bus services with the help of workers recruited on a temporary basis.

TSRTC claims to be operating a majority of the 10,500 buses with police protection at depots and bus stations.

Though Telangana High Court has twice suggested to both the parties to resolve the issue through talks, no initiative was taken by either side to break the impasse. JAC convenor Ashwathama Reddy said they were ready for talks if the government or TSRTC invites them. He said the strike will continue even if the talks are held.

Last week, two employees committed suicide due to depression over losing jobs and not receiving salaries for September. A statewide shutdown was also observed on a call by the JAC and supported by opposition parties, but the government has not budged from its stand.

The High Court is scheduled to resume hearing on Public Interest Litigations (PILs) on October 28 when the government is expected to brief the division bench on the steps taken to resolve the issue.

A High Court judge is also separately hearing a petition filed by the National Mazdoor Union (NMU), seeking direction to the TSRTC to pay the salaries for September. The TSRTC conveyed to the court on Monday that it is not in a position to pay salaries to the employees.

TSRTC in charge Managing Director Sunil Sharma informed the court that TSRTC requires Rs.239 crore to pay the salaries, but it has only Rs 7.49 crore in its account.

He also stated that the strike by the employees during festival season so far caused a loss of Rs 125 crore to TSRTC, which has accumulated losses of Rs 5,269 crore.

The JAC leaders on Monday evening called on Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to seek her intervention. This is the second time that they met the Governor on the issue.

The Governor had last week called Transport Minister P. Ajay Kumar to know about the steps being taken by the government to ensure that people are not inconvenienced. He had deputed Sunil Sharma to Raj Bhavan, who briefed the Governor on the alternate measures taken by TSRTC.

Train Delay: IRCTC To Pay Rs1.62 Lakh Compensation

On October 19, Tejas express has commenced its Delhi-Lucknow, but it was nearly three hours late. Therefore, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is paying Rs1.62 lakh to passengers as compensation. The newly started Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express is now shocking everyone as its huge amount for delays in arrival and departure is unbelievable.

The railway subsidiary is keeping up its promise and now IRCTC is paying ₹1.62 lakh as compensation of running train late. Instead of 6.10 am, the Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express started from Lucknow at around 9.55 am. And, it departed from New Delhi at 5.30 pm instead of 3.35 pm. The New Delhi Lucknow-Tejas Express reached Lucknow at 11.30 pm instead of 10.05 pm.

Running six days a week, except Tuesdays, IRCTC had announced, that if the Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express delays for over an hour, passengers will get a compensation of Rs100. For delay of two hours and more, passengers will receive Rs250. On October 20, the Lucknow-Delhi Tejas reached 24 minutes late. For compensation, passengers can either fill up a claim form with the insurance company, which is available online or make a claim on its toll-free number. The insurance company would transfer the compensation amount directly into the passengers’ bank accounts, said IRCTC.

For the first time, IRCTC is offering free insurance of Rs25 lakh to passengers travelling in the Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express. The insurance cover includes 1 lakh insurance against theft or robbery during the travel. Well, we contemplate that Indian might soon become like Japan, where trains never go delay and it is indeed a good initiative by IRCTC.

Tough times are being faced by Bangladesh Cricket Board as all Bangladesh cricketers went on a strike from all cricket forms after submitting an 11-point demand. Cricketers stated that the strike will continue until their demands are met. Some of the paramount demands were to increase pay scale and practice facilities in Dhaka Premier League, National Cricket League and Bangladesh Premier League.

The walkout has been announced at the academy ground press conference in Mirpur. Nearly 50 players have come forward to speak and Shakib al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah were among them. The team also urged women cricketers to come forward and voice their problems. The 11 points were each stated by 11 players.

The demands go like – the current committee of Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) must resign immediately, the old method should be followed in the players’ transfer of Premier League, giving freedom to choose a team, the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) must be organized, the match fee for first-class matches should be Tk1 lac and coaches should be provided year-long practice facilities in every division.

The meager Tk1,500 as daily allowance must be increased. Plane fares should be provided, The number of contracted players and their salaries must be increased, along with salaries of local staff members, coaches, ground staff, umpires. The dues of DPL must be paid on time. This strike has now made Bangladesh’s upcoming tour of India in stake. Bangladesh are scheduled to tour India for a three-match Twenty20 International series and a two-Test series, which starts on November 3.

Amit Shah Denies Appointment To Jagan 3rd Time

In a major shocking to AP CM YS Jagan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has denied appointment for third time in a row. Jagan was supposed to meet Amit Shah on Monday afternoon. BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sujana Chowdary today made some sensational statements on former AP CMs, Chandrababu Naidu and YS Rajasekhara Reddy. He said that both AP and Telangana are getting affected due to the regional conflicts.

Sujana said that after the demise of NT Rama Rao, Andhra Pradesh suffered heavily due to the two powerful political families, Chandrababu Naidu and YS Rajasekhara Reddy. “Their rampant corruption and policies deeply impacted the state,” Sujana said.

The former TDP leader from Vijayawada went on to say that even though NTR had founded TDP as a regional party, he always had the national spirit. But the icing on the cake in Sujana’s speech was his justification on joining the TDP in the past.

“You may question me about joining the TDP. I was ignorant when I joined the TDP. However, I tried my best for the welfare of the state. It was only when I realised that I cannot help the state any more being in the TDP that I quit the party and joined the BJP,” Sujana said.

MAA Talk: One Needs Fame, One Needs Power

A meeting happened in Movie Artists Association (MAA) other day under the leadership of Jeevitha, regarding which she says the meeting is a must, and President MAA labelled it as a friendly meeting that has no official regard.

‘Emergency General Body Meeting’ hasn’t happened in the last 25 years any time, but other day actress Jeevitha has called for that, and met with hundreds of MAA members (550+ members) to make some decisions. So, then why President Naresh hasn’t taken part in it? He stated that a General Body meeting shouldn’t be called by anyone, who is not a President and revealed that only a ‘friendly meeting’ took place in MAA office but not an official meeting. So why all this?

The whole of conspiracies, compulsions and cries happening inside MAA could be labeled only as one thing. While Naresh needs ‘fame’ as a successful MAA president, Jeevitha is the one who is looking for ‘power’ inside the film body. As Naresh is busy with back to back shootings, he’s not in a position to handle MAA and it looks like Jeevitha is making use of this situation. She went on proposing the idea that they would change the by-laws on which this association is built up.

“Legends like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Mohan Babu have run MAA quite well on the same by-laws as Presidents, and I wonder what makes these people (read Jeevitha) propose changes in the constitution of MAA now?” asked Naresh. However, Jeevitha maintained that they are doing this only for the welfare of MAA members and their prosperity.

Can’t Pay Salaries: TSRTC Tells HC

Even as thousands of employees are on a strike for the last one week, TSRTC MD Sunil Sharma told the High Court that RTC is on a cash shortage to pay salaries to the staff for the month of September. In his counter-petition, the Sunil Sharma told the court that the corporation lost nearly Rs 125 crore due to strike during the Dasara season.

RTC’s counter-petition informed the court that out of the Rs 240 crores required, RTC has just Rs 7.5 crore in its account. Only the officers were given their salaries, while the salaries of the rest of the staff are pending due to a severe cash crunch. He said that RTC is depending on the government’s financial aid to pay the salaries.

Sunil Sharma also said that while RTC’s annual income is Rs 4,882 crores, its expenditures are to the tune of Rs 5,269 crores, with nearly Rs 1,200 crore losses every year. And nearly 58 percent of the income is being spent on the staff’s salaries.

However, the MD’s admissions in the court are termed untrue by the lawyer of the employees. He told the court that RTC has paid its officers nearly Rs 100 crore towards their September salaries and that only Rs 140 crores are required to pay the salaries for all the protesting staff. He further said that even though the strike was on, the employees ran nearly 70 percent of the buses during the festival season.

Comedian Ali’s Frustration on Critics

After a long gap, comedian Ali got the chance to play a full-length comedian role.

At a time, when filmmakers are opting for Vennela Kishore or Rahul Ramakrishna for hero’s buddy characters, Ohmkar gave the role to Ali in “Raju Gari Gadhi 3”. However, the film was slammed by critics and Ali’s comedy didn’t get any brownie points either.

Ali lost his cool at a press meet of RGG3 and vent out his anger on critics for giving poor ratings. He termed reviewers as ‘kaun kiska’.

Ali said people are enjoying the film. General audiences are laughing out loud for each comedy scene.

“I sat in the Brahmaramba theater to assess the audiences’ reaction. I got the best response from them,” he said while using bad words against critics.

Ali is not getting many roles these days. He has shown this frustration on critics.
