Speculations Rife on Prabhas20 First Look

Share

As Prabhas’s birthday is nearing, fans are eager to know updates about #Prabhas20. The untitled period romantic drama has finished a lengthy European schedule last year.

The new shooting schedule has not yet been resumed. Prabhas has asked director Radha Krishna Kumar to make necessary changes after seeing the result of “Saaho”. Hence the delay in the movie’s shoot.

Meanwhile, speculations are rife that the makers would announce the title of the movie.

“Jaanu” is the title that has been doing the rounds. Will they unveil the first look with the title on Prabhas’s birthday (October 23)?

The film is scheduled for the summer 2020 release. Pooja Hegde is the heroine. Prabhas is said to have asked the director to think about some other title other than “Jaanu”.

The title should be universally appealing as Prabhas has proved that he’s a star with Pan India appeal and his film would be released in Hindi and other South Indian languages.

Like “Saaho” and “Baahubali”, a single title for all languages will be used.

Techie jumps to death from apartment in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A techie committed suicide by jumping from an apartment building in information technology cluster Gachibowli here on Monday, police said.

P. Raghuram, 35, who was working with Infosys, took the extreme step after coming out of the office along with his wife Sridevi, who also works in the same company.

According to police, Raghuram, who was suffering from bipolar disorder, went on top of nearby Mantri Apartments and jumped from there. He died on the spot.

Police registered a case at Gachibowli police station and took up investigations.

Hailing from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, Raghuram had married Sridevi eight years ago. The couple has a six-year-old daughter.

Raghuram, who was staying in Chandanagar area in the city, was suffering bipolar disorder, a mental illness marked by extreme shifts in mood.

What is Bipolar Disorder?

The exact cause of the bipolar disorder isn’t known, but a combination of genetics, environment and altered brain structure and chemistry plays a role.

The maniac episodes of the patient may include symptoms such as high energy, reduced need for sleep and loss of touch with reality.

The depressive episodes may include symptoms such as low energy, low motivation and loss of interest in daily activities.

Reel Buzz: Keeping Tabs On Superstar

Ever since Shah Rukh Khan opted out of the Rakesh Sharma biopic, reports have been rife about what he’s going to do next.

While he has said he’d like to do an action film, it looks like that wish will have to wait a little longer.

Nonetheless, the industry is abuzz that Khan is likely to announce not one but two movies on his birthday on November 2.

One is said to be with hitmaker Rajkumar Hirani. The superstar and the ace filmmaker have been discussing a collaboration for a while now.

There is also talk of Khan teaming up with southern wiz Shankar, after he completes his sequel of ‘Indian’ with Kamal Haasan.

Khan is also said to be in talks with Gurinder Chadha for a film. And if things work out, it could also mark his foray into the international circuit.

It seems SRK has several presents in store for his fans on his birthday.

Chiranjeevi Wants Nandi Awards Be Given

Share

Vijayawada: The prestigious Nandi Awards are likely to be presented this year.

One of the main proposals that Chiranjeevi put forth to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during their luncheon meeting in Tadepalli yesterday was that the government should hold the Nandi awards ceremony regularly.

He brought to YS Jagan’s notice that the Chandrababu Naidu government didn’t present Nandi awards even after announcing them for the three years at one go. For the last two years, the presentation ceremony is pending.

Chief Minister Jagan promptly responded to Chiranjeevi’s request and asked the officials to look into this matter. The awards are likely to be presented very shortly.

Post bifurcation of the state, presenting the Nandi Awards is rested with Andhra Pradesh and the Telugu film industry remained operating from Telangana.

The Telangana government is not giving any film awards though there was a proposal to present Simha awards on the lines of Nandi.

Naidu’s Kuppam Is Now A Municipality

Share

Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is giving surprises to his predecessor and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu one after the other.

First, Jaganmohan Reddy, by announcing that all MLAs would be honorary chairpersons of the local market yards, had made Naidu the honorary chairman of Kuppam market yard, which is represented by the TDP chief in the Assembly.

Now, in a second attempt, Jaganmohan Reddy had upgraded the Kuppam gram panchayat into Municipality, along with 49 other gram panchayats across the State.

The State government had issued orders upgrading 50 major gram panchayats into municipalities in the State and Kuppam is one of them.

The chief minister had so much on his “to do” list for Kuppam in the days to come.

All that is to do greater things for this town, which Chandrababu Naidu could not do all through his political career, as he has been representing the constituency since 1989.

Though Chandrababu Naidu entered politics from Chandragiri Assembly constituency in 1978 and lost the subsequent 1983 elections on Congress ticket, he moved to Kuppam in 1989 after his defection to the TDP. Since then, he had been winning this constituency, though not developed the area much as expected.

It is to be seen what more surprises are in store for Chandrababu Naidu in his home turf, Kuppam, under Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga: ‘I feel sorry for the girl’

Share

The criticism for Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon.

Even after it has become the highest-grossing film of the year, constant debates and discussions about the implications of Bollywood characters are taking place.

The same conversations have heated up after TikTok star Johnny Dada aka Ashwani Kumar’s case.

The popular social media user murdered a flight attendant named Nitika Sharma after he got to know that she was getting married to someone else.

The man was already ‘wanted’ for three murders in Uttar Pradesh. After he committed suicide last week, the Bijnor Police investigated the matter and found that the man was highly impressed by Shahid’s Kabir Singh and often posted images and dialogues from the film.

The character’s aggressive behaviour seemed to have resonated with Ashwani and he was even seen mouthing dialogues like ‘Jo Mera Nahin Ho Sakta, Usse Kisi Aur Ke Hone Ka Mauka Nahin Doonga’ in his videos.

Now, as reported by Mid-Day, the director of the film – Sandeep Reddy Vanga, commented on the entire matter.

He told a daily, “I feel sorry for the girl and her family. It is unfortunate that people have lost their lives. As filmmakers, we are responsible for our craft and need to consider the repercussions, but never have my films [endorsed] killing anyone. Kabir Singh or even Arjun Reddy [the Telugu original] never [supported] murder.”

Jagan To Waive Rs 27,186 cr Worth Women Loans

Share

The Y S Jaganmohan Reddy government had decided to waive the loans availed by women members of the self-help groups (SHGs) in the State.

The total loans availed by over 9.33 lakh women in the State amount to Rs 27,186 crore.

The government wants to pay towards these loans in at least four instalments and relive the women from the debt burden.

A formal decision was taken at a review meeting of the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), which deals with the SHG movement in the State.

The SERP is now preparing a report on the total loans of the women in the State and the proposal to clear them by the government.

The report is likely to be submitted to Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in a fortnight for his decision.

The 9.33 lakh women in the State are paying Rs 1,823 crore towards interest on their loans, which would be cleared by the government.

The government is also planning to increase the budget allocation for the SHG women in the State from the present Rs 900 crore to Rs 1800 crore from the next financial year.

This would mean that every women member of the SHG would get Rs 50,000 loan for every six months.

The loan waiver for the SHG women was one of the unfulfilled promises of TDP in 2014 elections.

Telangana RTC employees give KCR a taste of his own medicine

Share

Hyderabad: Suicides, shutdowns, ‘Vanta varpu’ or cooking on roads and ‘Dhoom Dham’ or the cultural programme were all part of the movement for statehood to Telangana. With the employees of state-owned Road Transport Corporation (RTC) using the same tactics for their ongoing strike, history appears to be repeating itself in Telangana.

K. Chandrashekhar Rao, under whose leadership the Telangana movement used all these tools as part of the strategy, is now at the receiving end.

Over 48,000 employees of RTC along with their family members on Sunday participated in ‘Vanta varpu’. They cooked the food and ate it by the roadside. The scenes were reminiscent of the Telangana agitation between 2009 and 2013.

The same day a RTC driver set himself ablaze in Khammam as he was depressed over the chief minister sacking all the striking employees. The next day a conductor hanged himself in Hyderabad as he, like all other striking employees, had not received the salary for September and a cheque he had issued towards his EMI for home loan had bounced.

At least three other employees tried to commit suicide, giving a serious turn to the strike that began on October 5.

The decision of Joint Action Committee (JAC), comprising RTC employee unions, to launch indefinite strike was the first major challenge to KCR in six years. They had a list of 26 demands, the main being RTC’s merger with the government.

Acting tough, KCR issued an ultimatum to workers to return to work by 6 p.m. on October 5 but only a few did. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) boss did not like the open defiance, saying trade unions which went on strike under previous governments can’t dare to use the same weapon against his government.

He hit back by declaring that only 1,200 employees remained in RTC. For him, all other employees stood self-dismissed for not joining the duty before the expiry of the deadline.

“His stern warning was ridiculed as no one returned to work. In fact his statement that there are only 1,200 in RTC proved grand success of the strike,” political analyst Telakapalli Ravi told IANS.

Often criticized by his opponents for dictatorial attitude, KCR ruled out taking back the striking employees and announced that no talks will be held with them. Further angering the striking employees, he unveiled plans to recruit temporary drivers and other employees and use more private buses. He directed the police chief to deal firmly with any attempt to disrupt the bus services being operated by RTC with the help of temporary staff.

The analyst says KCR stood exposed for his double standards on strike. “His stand on strikes was different earlier. He changed the stand as it suits him. He also proved his eagerness to privatise RTC,” said Ravi.

By not paying September salaries to employees, especially during the festival time, KCR invited more criticism from the employees and the opposition who called him ‘arrogant’.

The occasion provided an opportunity to all his rivals including those who were with him during Telangana movement to come on a common platform. This was something never witnessed since formation of Telangana.

Student groups too joined the protest in support of the striking employees to corner KCR. Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) leader M. Kodandaram, who was with KCR during Telangana movement, also called for another ‘Sakala Janula Samme’ or the mass strike which had lasted for six weeks in 2011 mounting pressure on the Centre.

Sensing that government employees could also join hands with RTC employees, the chief minister adopted ‘divide and rule’ policy by inviting the leaders of the government employees and promising to address their pending issues including pay revision.

The daily protests by striking RTC employees had started rattling the TRS. The party leaders were also worried over the impact this could have on the party’s prospects in October 21 by-election to Huzurnagar Assembly seat.

With the situation turning grim following suicide of two employees, KCR showed signs of softening his stand. Through his trusted aide and advisor K. Keshav Rao, he sent the feelers to the striking employees that the government is ready for talks.

“From refusing to take back the striking employees to now urging them to call off the strike and come forward for talks, it is a big climb-down by KCR,” said a political analyst.

With JAC too showing readiness to accept Keshav Rao’s mediation, this may be construed as a victory of the striking employees, irrespective of the outcome of talks.

Analysts say the strike by RTC employees broke the myth that no one can challenge KCR. “There is no doubt that KCR stands his authority challenged as never before. He may not be Ivan the Terrible anymore,” said Ravi, who believes that other employees in the state may take a cue from their counterparts in RTC.

Ravi also believes that the strike has given the opposition much need shot in the arm. Major opposition parties may now try to assert themselves and this could begin with Huzurnagar bypoll.

Bigg Boss: Shiva Jyothi Pulls Everyone Into Nominations

Share

Nominations according to rankings was one of the popular tasks in Bigg Boss season 2.The task is repeated this year and it turned out to be even troublesome and as a result everyone in the house got nominated.

Varun Sandesh who is aware that his wife Vithika would get evicted if she is into nominations has swapped his third rank with her and Shiva Jyothi objected to it. Shiva Jyothi also stood at the third rank spot and refused to budge. A heated argument happened between Varun and Shiva Jyothi in which the former lost some brownie points.

Varun has surely dented his ‘Mr. Cool’ image after his argument with Jyothi. His body language during the argument was objectionable, which could affect his chances in the finale.

Sreemukhi has once again failed to realize the difference between convincing and demanding which led to an argument with Rahul Sipligunj. She couldn’t make him agree that she has been a better performer with smooth talk. She simply tried to write him off as a weak player and Rahul gave it back to her in his typical style.

All the remaining seven members getting nominated means Vithika is in danger of getting evicted this week until there is an unexpected turnaround of things. Double elimination might put Ali Reza also in danger.

Krishna Vamsi Is Pulling Off A Film Finally?

Share

From the director who carved timeless classics like Gulabi, Ninne Pelladutha, and Khadgam, today director Krishna Vamsi has fallen to a position where he delivered some boring movies like Paisa and Nakshatram. Though Ram Charan tried to give him a lift with Govindudu Andarivadele, it didn’t work out.

Reports are coming that finally, Krishna Vamsi is coming up with his next film which will have a female-centric theme. While his wife Ramya Krishna and good friend Prakash Raj will be appearing in crucial roles in the movie, talented b-town TV serials actress Avika Gor is likely to play the lead role says a source.

This news of KV’s female-centric movie is being heard for a long time, but somehow the director is taking huge time to pull it off. Some say that Krishna Vamsi is looking at huge budgets to carve out this movie, but provided with the fact that he has no market at the moment is not making his producers dare to invest.

AP Farmers To Get Rs 1,000 More!

Share

As YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is getting ready to launch his flagship scheme “YSR Rythu Bharosa” at Nellore on Tuesday, there is another good news for farmers.

The Jagan government on Monday announced an increase of Rs 1,000 in cash investment support under Rythu Bharosa – from Rs 12,500 to Rs 13,500 annually.

At the same time, it will be implemented for next five years, instead of four years as promised in the manifesto.

However, the amount will not be paid in lump sum to the farmers, but in three instalments which will have a greater utility.

The first instalment of Rs 7,500 will be deposited in their accounts in May, second instalment of Rs 4,000 in October and third instalment of Rs 2,000 in January.

The farmer welfare scheme will benefit over 51 lakh families besides three lakh landless tenant farmers belonging to SC, ST, BCs and Minorities. All of them will get the benefit of Rs 13,500 each.

The scheme will be named as YSR Rythu Bharosa-PM Kisan scheme, as Rs 6,000 of the total amount is being borne by the Centre under PM Kisan scheme.

The top three-tiers of elected representatives are not eligible for the scheme.

All MLAs and MPs present and past are not eligible to avail the scheme while it does not apply to zilla and mandal parishads and village sarpanches.

People who are using land for aqua culture and real estate also will not be covered under the scheme.

Janhvi: Mom always told me to be a good person

Share

Actress Janhvi Kapoor says her mother, late actress Sridevi, always told her to be a good person from within.

“My mother would always tell me, whatever you think and carry in your heart, will show on your face. So it is important for an actor to be a good person from within because the camera captures everything,” said Janhvi, at a panel discussion of MAMI Movie Mela on Sunday in Mumbai, which was also attended by actresses Aananya Panday, Mrunal Thakur, and Radhika Madan.

Sharing her experience about attending the panel discussion, Janhvi said: “It feels really cool to be on such an official panel with so many official people. Discussing things was fun. I enjoyed it, I learnt a lot from so many people. It felt nice to hear about everyone’s experiences, as everyone is working so hard.”

“I am feeling motivated just by looking at their ambitions. It was an amazing experience and (there was) so much energy, I feel good,” said Janhvi, about participating in the panel hosted by Anupama Chopra and Rajeev Masand.

Janhvi added that she feels motivated listening to contemporaries in Bollywood and said that this is a lovely time to be in the film industry.

“We are all working hard. We often think we are doing so much but the next person is doing the exact same hard work, probably working harder than you. So, you got to stay on your toes, stay motivated, stay focused, because at the end of the day, nothing matters more than your work. I think it is a lovely time to be in this industry”, said the actress.

Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming films include “Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl”, “Roohi Afza” and the Neflix ensemble film “Ghost Stories”.
