Talk Of The Town: Varun Tej Investments
If you buy stocks from the share market, their worth might crash at any time. That’s the reason many invest in real estate as the property boom is always there in a rising economy. However, this young mega hero is said to have found another interesting area to invest in.
Investing in artworks is one of the most secured portfolios if international investors are anything to go by. Usually, paintings bought at a certain price go for higher rates at auctions after a decade or so. Expecting the same, we hear that Varun Tej has recently bought a collection of paintings with the total worth being 1 crore.
Recently Varun Tej and his father Nagababu went to Hong Kong and Macau, and with Hong Kong being the art-selling capital of the world, they are said to have taken the decision of buying some paintings. A source stated that Varun picked a few abstract paintings, couple of miniatures and another traditional artwork, all done by south Asian artists.
Sources close to mega family, however, maintained that those paintings are for decoration purpose at their house, but not for future sales.
‘Watch Saaho Again’, Sujeeth’s Request Goes In Vain!
Young filmmaker Sujeeth’s rise in Tollywood is a hugely inspirational story. From being a small time filmmaker several years ago, he went on to direct India’s biggest action film ‘Saaho’ with a staggering Rs 350 crore budget featuring Prabhas right after Baahubali’s humongous success.
However, Sujeeth has let down fans, as Saaho couldn’t reach the expectations. His confusing and lethargic screenplay was criticised by fans and critics. Furthermore, Largo Winch’s inspiration in Saaho’s main plotline also dented Sujeeth’s image to an extent.
But Sujeeth is unfazed by the mixed response on Saaho have been getting for the last few days. He took to his Instagram and appealed to fans to watch Saaho for the second time so that they can enjoy the film even better if they missed anything in the first viewing.
However, it looks like there are not many takers for Sujeeth’s request. After a very good 4-day extended weekend, Saaho’s collections on Tuesday were quite disappointing. This shows that Sujeeth’s request has gone in vain. Needless to say, all eyes will now be on Sujeeth’s next project.
Huge Fans For Brahmanandam’s Lunch Box
For decades, Brahamandam has ruled Telugu film industry as an ace comedian and is a fond co-star for many star heroes and directors. Also, he is known for the lunchbox he gets from home every day, which he shares with people on the sets.
Today, director Harish Shankar shared a picture taken on “Valmiki” movie shooting spot where he’s sharing the lunch box of Brahamanandam on the last day of the shoot. We hear that Brahmi gets almost five types of curries, fried veggies and different types of soups every day from his home. The whole of the film industry including the likes of Chiranjeevi and Balakrishan are said to be huge fans of his lunch box.
Brahmi gets this carrier whenever he’s shooting in Hyderabad and some co-stars chase him to get a share of the lunch. “More than anything, the taste of the food and the way Brahmi treats it to you are awesome. It’s a love-filled carriage that satiates your appetite” a source in the know commented.
No one hates Chandrababu but leaving TDP
Leaders who are quitting TDP have not making any negative statements against party president Chandrababu Naidu. Usually, leaders who quit a political party make critical comments on party’s boss and leave. It is usual practice in politics. Whereas it is quite different when it comes to TDP and Chandrababu.
Earlier, the likes of Revanth Reddy, Peddireddy, Garikapati, Sujana Chowdary and CM Ramesh have all admitted that they don’t have nothing personal against Chandrababu but cited the political necessity as the reason to leave the party. Even Ayyannapatrudu’s brother Sanyasipatrudu too hadn’t made any critical comments on Naidu while leaving the party.
Joining the bandwagon is Telangana TDP’s senior leader Revuri Prakash Reddy. A senior leader from Warangal, Revuri has joined the BJP in the presence of party’s working president JP Nadda and Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Kishan Reddy. Revuri was accompanied by Telangana state unit president K Laxman.
Revuri has spoken to media and he said he has neither anger nor hate feelings against Chandrababu. Revuri Prakash said TDP is the only party that did complete justice to Telangana. He however said KCR is the reason behind TDP’s damage in Telangana.
He said KCR had painted TDP as “Andhra Party” and was successful in spreading propaganda against TDP in Telangana. Revuri said Congress is deteriorating in Telangana day by day as it is having leadership crisis. He stated that BJP has bright future in Telangana as TRS is losing charm in the state.
The comments of Revuri on Naidu and TDP once again prove that the leaders who are leaving the party are praising Naidu.
DK’s arrest okay, what about Sujana?
The arrest of senior Congress leader and former deputy chief minister of Karnataka D K Shivakumar on Tuesday evening by the Enforcement Directorate people created ripples in the political circles.
Shivakumar, known to be a trouble-shooter in the Congress politics, was being investigated in a case of alleged money laundering.
The Enforcement Directorate, which had been questioning him over the last four days arrested him finally on the pretext that he was not cooperating with the investigation and needed to be questioned while in custody.
The arrest evoked mixed response in the political circles.
While the pro-Bharatiya Janata Party groups hailed his arrest stating that he had to face the law for his corrupt practices, others accused the BJP of indulging in politics of vendetta against its political rivals.
“Those who had links with the BJP were allowed to go scot free, its political opponents like P Chidambaram and Shivakumar are being harassed by the investigation agencies,” an analyst observed.
Senior journalist and popular television anchor Rajdeep Sardesai pointed out the selective targeting of the political opponents by the BJP government.
He cited the example of former Union minister and former TDP leader Sujana Chowdary who had faced continuous raids by the Central Bureau of Investigation, Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate before the elections.
But soon after he joined the BJP along with other TDP leaders, the investigation agencies have become silent, he pointed out.
Here is the tweet of Rajdeep Sardesai:
“DK Shivakumar arrested: good! But would love to know what happened to another high profile Neta, TDP’s union minister YS Chowdhary, raided and summoned by CBI, ED and IT during elections. The moment he joined BJP, case seems to have gone into cold storage! Yeh hai ‘new’ India!”
Any comment from the government?
Pawan fans force Nikesha to quit Twitter
Powerstar Pawan Kalyan turned 49 on September 2 and his fans trended #HappyBirthdayPawanKalyan and several other tags on Twitter for over 24 hours.
Tamil-Telugu actress Nikesha Patel, who shared screen space with him in Puli, took to Twitter to wish him.
Anticipating the birthday wishes for Pawan, a few Twitter trolls had already created and began trending another hashtag, #HappyBirthdayPawalaKalyan. “Pawala” in Telugu means “cheap”.
But what unfolded thereon was a comedy of errors.
While wishing her favourite actor Pawan Kalyan, Nikesha mistakenly used the trending troll hashtag #HappyBirthdayPawalaKalyan.
No sooner had she tweeted and the actress came under severe criticism for the fake hashtag. Soon, she was facing the wrath of fans angry at her “irresponsible” tweet. Nikesha, who was quick to realise her mistake, deleted the controversial tweet and even posted a fresh tweet wishing Pawan. But it was too late.
Not the one to back down, Nikesha posted another series of tweets admonishing the fans for their highhandedness.
“Wish media and #pspk fans would calm down with the http://trolling.It was trending and without noticing a spelling mistake I pressed. have no intentions on [sic] hurting #pawankalyan I repeat #PAWANKALYAN !!! He has all my love and respect. And its idiots out there who create such trending hashtags and I get into trouble for it. I give up on social media. I’m of [sic] social media for some time. Keep the negativity going and keep the trolling going while I’m not listening. (sic),” she tweeted.
Poonam Kaur, fellow Telugu actress took to Twitter to support her. She wrote, “U @Nikeshapatel don’t have prove your loyalty to people … just keep quiet … other wise they will only have fun … remember your interview was altered by a wicked journalist which affected your career …have fun … be at peace … (sic)”
Is SSR Planning Mahabharat With Amitabh, Mahesh?
Everyone seems to think that S S Rajamouli has already made his dream film. But Baahubali is not the film that Rajamouli wants to define his career with.
He has his heart set on making a marathon epic based on the Mahabharat. And he will cast all his favourite actors from Andhra Padesh and Mumbai in what promises to be the baap of Baahubali.
Everyone from Amitabh Bachchan to Rana Daggubatti is expected to feature in the cast.
Sources say Rajamouli had slowed down with his plans of doing the Mahabharat after he heard of Aamir Khan’s planned project, a web series based on the Mahabharat.
But then Aaamir chickened out, for reasons that were more political than creative, leaving the coast clear for Rajamouli to strike.
While Rajamouli won’t reveal any details as yet, sources say his version of Mahabharat would feature Mahesh Babu in a pivotal role. This would be Mahesh Babu’s debut into Hindi cinema, as Rajamouli’s Mahabarat would be in multiple languages, Hindi included.
Rajamouli’s Mahabharat would be bigger than any film ever made in India.
‘Cold war’ between KCR and new Governor begins!
The ‘cold war’ between Telangana CM KCR and newly-appointed Governor of Telangana Tamilisai Soundarrajan seems to have begun even before she assumed office.
As soon as the news broke about Governor Narasimhan’s exit and Soundarrajan’s entry, KCR rushed to Raj Bhavan and requested him to issue notification convening Assembly Budget session from September 9.
Initially, KCR proposed to start Budget session from September 14 after Ganesh nimajjan on September 12, as entire police machinery will be busy with security arrangements for nimajjan.
However, with Soundarrajan’s appointment on August 31, KCR rushed to Rajbhavan to meet Narasimhan and requested him to issue a notification convening Assembly session from September 9.
Why KCR hurried to convene Assembly session at such a short notice? According to TRS sources KCR wanted to ensure that the notification is issued even before new Governor takes charge.
KCR has also decided to skip customary Governor’s address to joint session of Legislative Assembly and Council before the commencement of Budget session.
KCR is arguing that there is no need to have customary address again as Narasimhan had already addressed joint session in February this year when vote-on-account budget was presented.
But then President Kovind had addressed joint session of Parliament in January during vote-on-account budget and also in June when full-fledged budget was presented.
Since Soundarrajan is a hardcore BJP leaders, KCR fears that she may not read the written text copy sent by KCR on the achivements of TRS government and she may not heap praises on TRS government.
To avoid this, KCR has hurriedly met Narasimhan and ensured notification is released even before Narasimhan quits and Soundarrajan joins.
It remains to be seen how the new Governor will react on KCR hurriedly convening Assembly session and skipping Governor’s address to joint session.
If this is the situation between KCR and Soundarrajan even before new governor takes charge, one can easily expect more fireworks between the two in the next four years.
