Saaho Movie Review
Saaho is easily the most awaited movie of the year. Coming from Prabhas right after Baahubali movies, Saaho has been riding on sky high expectations and the spectacular promos only bumped them up to a whole new level. Did Sujeeth meet the expectations with this high budget action spectacle?
Story
Ashok Chakravarthy (Prabhas) an undercover cop comes to help a police team crack a huge robbery case. In a parallel plot, two groups of gangsters are fighting for the inheritance of the empire worth 2 Lakh Crore rupees. There is a link that brings these two worlds together.
Performances:
It has been a long time since we had seen Prabhas in a regular look. The Baahubali star looked tired and dull in this film. The energy levels have gone down and it seemed like he is sleepwalking at times. Inconsistency on the looks front will disappoint fans for sure. Shraddha Kapoor is okay as the female lead. This character is introduced as a tough lady, but turns out to be a regular heroine as the story goes forward. There are numerous actors in the supporting roles and only a few leave an impression. Arun Vijay is good as the stylish and suave looking don. Neil Nitin Mukesh also scores in the style department. Chunkey Pandey and Mandira Bedi got meaty roles. Murali Sharma is good as the hero’s trusted aide.
Technicalities:
Sujeeth lifted the main plot from the film Largo Winch and tried to deal it in ‘Run Raja Run’ fashion. He might have done better job if the film is made on a lesser budget. Increasing the scale has forced to include high voltage action episodes and the young director struggled to strike a balance between action scenes and the story telling.
Background score by Ghibran is good but loud at times. Songs composed by four different composers are shot well, but seem unnecessary due to bad placements. Cinematography is world class and the action stunts are sensational for Indian standards. Production values are topnotch. Producers have liberally spent to make it look like an international film.

Analysis:
It is hard to believe that all Sujeeth has done with Rs. 300 crore money is to visualize a video game kind of action movie that defies logic and sense. One would at least expect a coherent script for a film of this scale. But there is hardly any story in the film as it totally relies upon a couple of twists that come at interval and climax. The basic plotline is lifted from Largo Winch that was free-made into Telugu as Agnyathavaasi by Trivikram. Wonder what the makers were thinking when they went ahead of making Saaho even after seeing the plight of Agnyathavaasi.
Saaho fails to involve the viewers right from the beginning. The introduction of villains doesn’t make any impact with the first scene where they threaten a Union Minister falls flat. Prabhas’s introduction fight scene lacked the spark and the actor looked tired in the first scene itself. The love story between Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor is pretty basic and doesn’t add any value to the proceedings except for inserting a couple of needless songs. A twist that comes at the intermission point is the only thing that is impressive in entire first half.
Second half turns even messier with marathon action episodes coming one after the other without proper build up to them. The screenplay is so bad that it is hard to understand what is going on the screen in spite of elaborate explanations given. The much hyped about twenty minute action sequence seemed just okay on the screen. The efforts could be seen, but the output is not something one can be proud of. The main plot is delayed until the climax and the twist fails to click due to the Agnyathavaasi vibe to it.
Saaho is a disappointment on many levels as it fails in every aspect. Not even the performances are worth remembering. Director Sujeeth clearly lacked the vision to make such a high budget action film and in the process he couldn’t even write a proper script. The confusing screenplay and endless action episodes makes it an epic mess that will disappoint all sections of audience including the diehard fans of Prabhas.

Finally, Balayya Gets Ready For Hat-Trick!
Post the failure of ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’, Boyapati Srinu was left with no option as none of the Star Heroes are willing to take the risk. Even Balakrishna preferred KS Ravikumar over Boyapati for his upcoming flick. This development fuelled the rumours that Nata Simha mayn’t be teaming up with the Mass Masala Specialist anytime soon.
Clearing all the doubts, Balakrishna signed Boyapati Srinu’s Flick which will go on floors in November 2019. Miryala Ravindra Reddy who produced ‘Jaya Janaki Nayaka’ is bankrolling this project.
There is tremendous craze in the Trade for Balakrishna-Boyapati Combination. They have delivered powerful entertainers such as ‘Simha’ and ‘Legend’. Can they make it a hat-trick?

Ranveer raises temperature with shirtless pic
London: Bollywood’s livewire star Ranveer Singh’s latest photograph, in which the shirtless actor is seen soaking some sun, has taken the social media by storm.
Ranveer on Thursday night shared a shirtless photograph of himself on Instagram where he can be seen flaunting his well-chiselled body as he soaks some London sun with a towel over his head and a pair of dark shades.
He captioned the sunkissed image: “Heat wave in the UK”.
Ranveer is currently in London to shoot for “’83”, a film that will trace India’s historic victory at the 1983 cricket World Cup. Ranveer will be playing the role of former Indian skipper Kapil Dev.
The rest of the cast includes Boman Irani, Saqib Saleem, Adinath Kothare, Chirag Patil, Harddy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Jatin Sarna, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Dinker Sharma, Jiiva, Sahil Khattar, Dhairya Karwa, Nishant Dahhiya and R. Badree.
The film is being presented by Reliance Entertainment, and will release on April 10, 2020, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Prabhas helped me learn Telugu: Evelyn Sharma
Model-turned-actress Evelyn Sharma returns in “Saaho”, starring Prabhas. The film marks her Telugu debut.Learning Telugu wasn’t easy for the German-Indian actress, but she says Prabhas came to her rescue when she needed help to understand her lines.
“‘Saaho’ is my debut film in Tollywood. Telugu was difficult to learn initially but I had so many people to guide me on the sets – like Prabhas and director Sujeeth, so I managed to learn my lines quickly. I have finally learned Hindi now and Telugu is a completely different language. But I’m always up for a good challenge! We had so much fun shooting together with the pan-Indian cast, in three different languages!” said Evelyn.
The actress, who is an admirer of the “Baahubali” fame superstar, said: “I am a huge fan of Prabhas and when I got to know that I will be getting to work with him I immediately said yes. Prabhas is a thorough gentleman and he is so down to earth.”
In the movie, Evelyn’s character is called Jennifer. “It’s a small but significant role where I will be seen in an action avatar for the first time,” said the actress, adding: “I couldn’t be happier that I am a part of the biggest action thriller of 2019.”
“Saaho” is helmed by Sujeeth and the film has released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil in theatres across the country today. The action-thriller also features Shraddha Kapoor, Mandira Bedi and Neil Nitin Mukesh.
Andhra to keep finances in mind for Amaravati works
Amaravati: Hinting that resumption of construction works in state capital Amaravati will take more time, the Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday said it would keep in mind the state’s financial position while proceeding with the works.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting with top officials on capital city works. The first such meeting held by him since assuming office in May was held amid uncertainty on the capital’s future created by statements of his ministers and leaders of ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
Urban Development Minister Botsa Satyanarayana had sparked a row with the comment that there is need for review of works as Amaravati is flood-prone. This triggered speculations that the government may shift the capital out of Amaravati.
“No one has doubts about the state capital,” Botsa remarked after two-hour long meeting. To another query, he said the issue of Amaravati being flood-prone did not come up for discussion.
“How am I concerned with what others say,” he shot back when asked about the contradictory statements being made about Amaravati.
Botsa said there were no agreements with banks and financial institutions for works worth Rs.35,000 crore launched by the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
He revealed that 64,000 farmers gave their lands for the capital. While plots of 43,000 farmers were registered, the plots for remaining farmers were yet to be registered. He said annuity arrears for the farmers would be paid from Friday.
“The state capital belongs to five crore people and not to one particular social group,” he said in an obvious reaction to allegations by TDP leaders that YSRCP government was targeting one particular caste through its stand on Amaravati.
On TDP president and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s claim that the government is killing the very self-financing model of the capital city, the minister pointed out several bills relating to the works undertaken in Amaravati were pending.
He reiterated the allegation that Chandrababu Naidu’s relatives and BJP MP Y. S. Chowdary purchased vast tracts of lands in and around Amaravati.
Showing the documents to media, Botsa said they had proof that Sri Bharat purchased lands in Amaravati during TDP regime.
Bharat is the co-brother of Chandrababu Naidu’s son N. Lokesh.
Releasing Today: BO Set For Non-Prabhas Records!
Prabhas’s previous film Baahubali 2 has not only shattered the Tollywood records but also the Indian cinema records and has set a bar too high for any film to reach.
No wonder other top stars had to compete for the second spot (in fact third place), that are famously referred to as Non-Baahubali records.
Most of the credit of Baahubali was given to Rajamouli’s vision and execution, but we cannot take anything away from Prabhas who brought the fictional character to life.
It is a huge burden on any actor to meet the humongous expectations after such a gargantuan success.
Prabhas is smart enough to choose a film that caters to pan Indian audience and of a scale that is on par with Baahubali.
Saaho directed by Sujeeth and bankrolled by UV Creations is the most expensive non-franchise film in Indian cinema history.
It is an action thriller made on international standards and as expected it has created huge buzz across the nation. Saaho is releasing today in four languages and is expected to gross Rs. 100 Crore on its day 1.
Saaho should easily surpass the existing Non-Baahubali records even if it generates average word of mouth.
If the film goes onto become another blockbuster then other actors should compete for Non-Prabhas records.

Content Delay Causes Cancellation Of Shows Of Saaho
Prabhas fans in certain parts of North India where the ‘2K’ format of film-projection is applied in theatres, were in for a disappointment.
Saaho could not make it in time in several Northern towns for the morning shows on Friday when the film opened all across in India in four languages.
Several shows in Jharkhand including the capital city Ranchi are confirmed as being cancelled on Friday morning. Reports of cancellations from other parts of North India are filtering in.
An angry distributor from North India who doesn’t want to be identified wondered why Hindi viewers were given a stepbrotherly treatment.
“All deliveries of digital and physical prints of Saaho were done in Telugu and Tamil in time. The delivery of the Hindi version was delayed with disastrous results in several parts of North India. We had to refund ticket money to hundreds of angry disappointed patrons. Why treat Hindi audiences with so much contempt?” asks the angry distributor.
In the meanwhile early responses to Saaho are not encouraging.

When she wanted a different cake for Chiranjeevi’s recent birthday, they approached us. Since Chiranjeevi Garu loves cars, we went for the Rolls Royce theme. Also ‘Sye Raa’ is up for the release, we included this theme as well,” she informs.
