Prithvi is now the MPTC of Joolapalli village of Ghanpur, Janagoan district.

Meanwhile the party chief Pawan Kalyan is yet to call on Prithvi as he is busy with review meetings in Mangalagiri.

Pawan Announces Own News Paper

Share

Pawan Kalyan has taken a sensational decision to start his own news paper. The new news paper would propel Janasena Party ideology and and highlight Janasena party’s activities, plans.

The news paper is aimed at focusing on the people’s woes. Pawan wants the news paper to be platform for sharing of opinions, thoughts of intellectuals. He opined that the news paper should help in solving people’s problems. Pawan said that a new committee would be appointed to look into the characteristics and agenda of the proposed news paper.

It can be noted that Pawan took the decision to enter into media fraternity after his political party received a big blow in 2019 general elections. Party chief Pawan Kalyan himself lost in two assembly seats including Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka while the party won only 1 seat i.e Razole. Pawan has met party’s leaders and conducted a review meeting over Janasena’s defeat in the polls and the strategy to be adopted in the coming days.

However, Pawan’s decision to start his own news paper come as a major shocker to everyone including other media houses.

12 Telangana Congress MLAs seek merger with TRS

Share

Hyderabad: Twelve Congress MLAs in Telangana on Thursday urged the state Assembly Speaker to merge Congress Legislature Party (CLP) with the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

The group of 12 members of Assembly belonging to the main opposition Congress called on Speaker P. Srinivas Reddy and submitted him a letter, seeking CLP’s merger with the TRS. They later went to Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.

While 11 MLAs had already announced that they will join TRS, Rohit Reddy from Tandu constituency also declared switching loyalty to TRS and joined the group of defectors.

Following this development, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, state Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, senior leaders D. Sridhar Babu, Mohammed Ali Shabbir and other leaders began a flash protest at Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Assembly premises.

They wore black ribbons around their mouth to lodge their protest over the defections. They demanded that the MLAs who were elected on their party symbol but were now seeking merger with TRS should be disqualified.

The Congress leaders said they made several representations to the Speaker for disqualification of MLAs but he took no action but now he seems to be acting swiftly on the request of defectors.

Uttam Kumar Reddy questioned the Speaker as to how he can take a decision on merger when their petition was pending in the High Court.

Before meeting the speaker, the defectors called on TRS working president K. T. Rama Rao and informed him that they have the required majority to seek CLP’s merger with TRS.

In Assembly elections held in December last year, the Congress had won 19 members in 120-member Assembly (including a nominated member).

Under Anti-Defection Act, the defectors required two-third majority to seek merger with any party.

The development came a day after Uttam Kumar Reddy resigned from Assembly as he was elected to Lok Sabha from Nalgonda in the recent elections.

This brought down Congress’ strength to 18 and the defectors required 12 MLAs to seek CLP’s merger with TRS.

Earlier, Congress Legislature Party in state Legislative Council merged with TRS in a similar way. If this happens in Assembly, the Congress will lose the status of main opposition.

A party needs one-tenth of the strength pf a House to have the status of main opposition.

TRS had won 88 seats in Assembly elections. After the polls, two independents and one of the two legislators of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) joined the TRS. If 12 Congress MLAs join TRS, the strength of the ruling party will go up to 103.

This will bring down the Congress tally to six. In such a scenario, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) will get the status of main opposition. AIMIM, an ally of TRS, has seven MLAs.

Hippi Review: Sloppy

Share

“RX 100” became a sleeper hit last year and the film’s lead actor Kartikeya Reddy Gummakonda won popularity among the youth thanks to his looks.

“Hippi” being his immediate release after “RX100”, the film has caught attention. Let’s analyse.

Story:
Devadas who is also called as Hippi works in a corporate company. Though he’s in relationship with another girl, he falls for the beauty of Amukta Malyada (Digangana Suryavanshi), who is a member of bike racing club run by HD (Vennela Kishore).

Amukta Malyada initially refuses to be his girlfriend as his former girlfriend is her best friend.

The rest of the drama is how they get on and start living together and the ups and downs they go through in this relationship.

Artistes’ Performances:
Kartikeya didn’t get much chance to showcase his acting talent in his previous movie “RX100” but here we get to see some performance. He has done well in the Goa episode but we have lost count of the number times he removed his shirt in the movie. The camera mostly focuses on his bare body (upper) to appeal to women audiences and men who like men.

Both the actresses have no acting skills. J D Chakravarthy’s character is poorly developed and used as space filler. Vennela Kishore’s comedy comes as cropper and Brahmaji as Baava is wasted.

Technical Excellence:
The film has two catchy songs. Editing is totally bad. The editor must have slept off on the table. Production values are decent. Direction and writing is clumsy.

Highlights:
Cinematography

Drawback:
Unbearable narration
Clueless sequences
Double meaning dialogues
Never ending arguments
Extended climax

Analysis
“RX100” didn’t win great reviews but the film definitely struck a chord with the youth for its bold content.

The film also established Kartikeya as a ‘desirable man’ since he possesses well-sculpted body which was quite evident in “RX100”. Remember, the first time the heroine falls for him is when she sees his bare body in that film.

Like Salman Khan who removes his shirt for the heck of it, Kartikeya has done similar things in “Hippi” to cash in on the image that he created with his previous movie.

Tamil director T N Krishna who is making debut in Telugu with this movie has not written a proper plot but used Kartikeya’s image to the fullest.

There is no proper story arc in place though the movie talks about live-in relationship, biker clubs, and literary things like “Paradise Lost”, etc.

From the initial scenes itself, you get a feeling that there is no story at all. Even after the intermission, we don’t know what this movie is all about.

The reason why Kartikeya falls for Digangana Suryavanshi is as silly as their arguments and fights later. No coherence in the story or situations. It makes us feel that the director has made the film as per his whims.

There is a sequence before the climax which lasts nearly 15 minutes in which Kartikeya and Digangana throw cups, pillows, knives and all sorts of things at each other and break everything. Such pointless scenes are aplenty.

There is another scene: J D Chakravarthy who is boss of a corporate company lights a beedi along with a beggar when his Audi car breakdowns and he gives the keys to him to hand it over when the mechanic reaches this spot. And both of them talk about demonetization.

In another scene, J D Chakravarthy explains to his colleagues the importance of taking ‘it’ in hands to get mind relaxation.

When we get tired of watching these clueless proceedings, the director brings in Shraddha Das and inserts an engagement song. Such clumsy narration.

In a nutshell, ‘Hippi’ is aimed for youth but all it serves us is pointless double meaning dialogues and boring narration.

Bottom-line: Paradise Lost, Headache Gained

Cong collapses as defectors merge with TRS

Share

The Congress party has lost its leader of opposition status in Telangana assembly and plunged to third position only after the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM), as the defected MLAs announced their merger with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

On Thursday, one more Congress MLA, Pilot Rohit Reddy representing Tandur assembly constituency defected to the TRS, bringing down the strength of the Congress to six, which is one seat less than the strength of the MIM which has seven MLAs.

In fact, the strength of the Congress in the assembly was eight after the defection of 11 MLAs into the TRS in the past and on Wednesday it went down to seven following the resignation of Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy from his Huzurnagar assembly seat on his election to Lok Sabha from Nalgonda in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Rohit Reddy’s defection resulted in the total number of defections to 12, which is two-thirds of the Congress strength.

Within hours of the latest defection, all the 12 defectors went to Speaker’s office in the assembly and submitted a letter to him, stating that they were all merging together and so, they should hereafter be treated as TRS MLAs.

According to latest reports, another Congress MLA Podem Veeraiah from Bhadrachalam is also ready to quit the party to join the TRS.

With this, only five MLAs would be left in the Congress – Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Seethakka, D Sridhar Babu, T Jayaprakash Reddy and K Rajagopal Reddy.

Though it was not totally unexpected development, the Congress leadership was hoping that the exodus would stop at least after the recent Lok Sabha elections in which three MPs from the party had won.

But after the local body elections which the TRS has swept, the merger of the defectors got expedited.

Jagan scraps Naidu’s farmer scheme

Share

YSR Congress party president and Andhra chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday scrapped Annadata Sukhibhava scheme, a crop input assistance scheme launched by previous Telugu Desam Party government headed by N Chandrababu Naidu just before elections.

The scheme, which was modelled on the lines of Rythu Bandu scheme of Telangana government, was aimed at providing Rs 10,000 per farmer every year to enable them purchase crop inputs like fertilisers, pesticides and seeds during every cropping season.

Jagan, who held a review meeting with the officials of the agriculture department at his Tadepalli camp office, asked the officials to do away with Naidu’s scheme, which served no purpose. Instead, he wanted them to improve the scheme so that farmers would get better financial assistance.

He announced that the scheme would be relaunched in the name of “YSR Rythu Bharosa” as promised among his Nava Ratnas during his padayatra, with effect from October 15. Under this, each farmer would be paid Rs 12,500 per year towards input cost.

The chief minister also directed that all the inputs required for agriculture including seeds, fertilisers and pesticides be made available at village secretariats to be established in every village from October 2, the Gandhi Jayanti day.

Jagan also announced that a price stabilisation fund with Rs 3,000 crore would be established in order to ensure remunerative price for farmers.

Fake news over Subba Reddy’s Christianity!

Share

These days, gossip in social media is spreading faster than the actual news, resulting in the people believing the fake news and making enquiries about it.

On Wednesday, YSR Congress party sources leaked news that party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to appoint his uncle and former Ongole MP Y V Subba Reddy as the chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams’ Trust Board.

Even before this news reached all sections of people, there was a speculative news which went rounds in the social media, questioning Subba Reddy’s eligibility.

According to this speculation, Subba Reddy is not a Hindu, but a Christian, like his nephew Jagan Reddy.

To substantiate the reports, these social media managers also brought out an old bio-data of Subba Reddy in which he had reportedly mentioned that he was a Christian. Nobody knows from where this bio-data has emerged.

The fact, however, is that Subba Reddy is a staunch Hindu, unlike Jagan and his family. He is married to Yerram Swarnalatha Reddy, sister of Jagan’s mother Vijayalakshmi.

Though Vijayamma is a devout Christian, Swarnalatha did not convert into Christianity, but follows pure Hindu tradition.

“Subba Reddy is a strong believer in Hinduism. He performs homams and abhisekams regularly. He wears Rudraksha mala in his neck. How can he be called a Christian? It is a fake news being spread by pro-TDP groups,” a party source said.

‘Bharat’ emerges Salman’s biggest opener

Share

Superstar Salman Khan’s latest film “Bharat” minted over Rs 42 crore on the first day of its release on Eid. The actor on Thursday took to social media to thank his fans for giving “me my career’s biggest opening ever”.

He tweeted: “Big thank you to all for giving me my career’s biggest opening ever.”

“What made me the happiest and proudest is when during a scene in my film, national anthem is recited and every one stood up as a mark of respect. There could be no bigger respect for our country than this… Jai Hind,” Salman added.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “Bharat”, which also stars actress Katrina Kaif, is Salman’s biggest Eid opener.

“‘Bharat’ storms the box office. Proves yet again Salman Khan is the biggest crowd puller. ‘Bharat’ opens much bigger than Salman and Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai (Rs 34.10 crore) and ‘Sultan’ (Rs 36.54 crore). ‘Bharat’ – Wednesday (Rs 42.30 crore) India business,” Taran tweeted.

“Bharat”, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, is an official remake of the Korean film “An Ode To My Father”. The Bollywood film depicts the history of India through the life of an ordinary man.

After receiving a positive response from the audience, Zafar said in a statement: “It is humbling to be showered this kind of love by audiences. I have tried to present Salman Khan in a totally new light and as a totally new hero with ‘Bharat’.

“I’m ecstatic that audiences have liked our attempt to make ‘Bharat’ a thoroughly entertaining joyride that also has its soul in the right place.”

The film also features Sunil Grover, Jackie Shroff, Tabu, Satish Kaushik and Disha Patani.

KCR Worried Over Jagan’s Rising Popularity!

Share

After bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, there has been a stiff competition among the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, K Chandrasekhar Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu.

The competition was to hog the political limelight both locally and nationally.

Though KCR became popular by successfully leading Telangana agitation, achieving statehood for Telangana and becoming first CM of the new state, his AP counterpart Naidu used to give him tough competition in attracting the attention of media and political circles with his seniority in politics, clout in national politics, media management, effective lobbying skills etc.

Both the CMs also used to compete for top ranks in various fields for respective states with regard to Ease of Doing Business, E-Governance, industrial policy, welfare schemes etc.

However, with TDP decimated in AP and Naidu losing CM’s post, KCR was elated that he will dominate Telugu politics both at local and national level.

KCR was also elated at Jagan taking over CM’s post in AP as he is much younger to him with just 46 years of age, lack administrative and political experience like him.

But within a week after taking over as CM, the popularity of Jagan has been rising like anything both in Telugu States and also in national politics.

PM Modi and Amit Shah started giving more prominence to Jagan than KCR. The Centre is expected to give more funds and projects to AP than TS.

Jagan has also been receiving tremendous response from AP people as CM within a week.

His simplicity, style of functioning, always smiling face, friendly approach etc has attracted the attention of all.

Jagan’s political calibre was also proved to be more than KCR in the recent general elections, where YSRCP swept 151 out of 175 seats in Assembly and 22 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in AP. Such ‘one sided results’ were not possible even for KCR despite his seniority and assisted by an effective second rung leadership in TRS in the form of KTR, Harish, Kavitha and Santhosh etc.

Jagan’s welfare schemes in the form of Navaratnalu have also become a cause of concern for KCR.

Despite AP being a ‘revenue deficit state’, he is giving KCR a run for his money in implementing novel welfare schemes, which are superior to KCR’s schemes despite Telangana being a ‘revenue surplus state’.

KCR is keenly watching Jagan’s journey as CM for the next five years.

If it goes at the same pace, Jagan may find himself much ahead of KCR on several fronts after five years.

KCR is also worried that Jagan may set his eyes on Telangana politics once he settles down as CM in AP.

Several Reddy leaders from Congress, BJP, TDP and other parties, social organisations in Telangana are learnt to be already in touch with Jagan and expressing their desire to work with Jagan to strengthen YSRCP in Telangana in the run up to 2023 Assembly polls.

Seven Review: Ludicrous Thriller

Share

‘Seven’ has been in the news as six glamorous heroines paired up with Havish. Why did these six heroines agree to do lip-locks with Havish and has the film justified its buzz?

Let’s find out.

Story:
An ACP officer (Rehman) in Hyderabad finds intriguing the stories narrated by two women Ramya (Nandita Swetha) and Jenny (Anisha Ambrose) who come to his police station to report their missing husbands.

He concludes that the husbands they are reporting is the same person Karthik (Havish), a software engineer in a MNC.

A mentally retarded old-man makes the case even more complicated by revealing that the guy in the photo is not Karthik but Krishnamurthy who was his classmate in his village in Godavari district. How would Karthik, a young guy, be classmate to this old man?

The mystery deepens with another woman coming to report her husband’s missing who also happens to be Karthik? What is the real mystery?

Artistes’ Performances:
Havish got to play two shades of the role that of a young software guy and a person in the 80’s. Surprisingly, Havish is fitted in the role of a rural 80’s guy than the software professional. In both the roles, he is clueless and expressionless.

However, the real star of the movie is Regina Cassandra, who in the role of Saraswathi owns the proceedings in the second half entirely.

As an obsessive woman, Regina has made her portion more interesting and later the old woman who played Regina’s older self has gone overboard.

Rehman as ACP is just okay. Nandita Swetha and Anisha Ambrose appear in the first half with neat roles while Tridha Chowdhary makes her appearance in brief sequences in the second half.

Poojitha Ponnada and Aditi Arya have got roles that are generally played by junior artistes.

Technical Excellence:
Nizar Shafi has directed this film as well as filmed it as a cinematographer. He gets marks as cameraman. Music is not appealing. Dialogues are plain. Editing is better in the second half.

Highlights:
Regina Cassandra

Drawback:
Boring first half
Weak direction
Unconvincing story
Outdated romantic threads

Analysis
“Seven” is directed by cinematographer Nizar Shafi but the story and screenplays is written by Ramesh Varma. This is more of Ramesh Varma’s work. The writer has come up with most unbelievable twist for this thriller.

The story’s twist and turns encompassing 1980’s to present day is hard to digest. This is the fatal flaw in this thriller that is less engaging and more boring.

“Seven” gets the proceedings wrong from the first two romantic threads involving Havish- Nandita Swetha and Havish-Anisha Ambrose. Had these two romantic threads been a bit engaging and told in cute way, the movie would have been different.

As these romantic episodes are clichéd, the entire first half never draws into it. The main mystery unfolds in the second half but even those portions look forced, twists look for the sake of twists.

When central point holds on the fact that a woman dreams the hero as her ‘man’, the hero ought to be very handsome personality or should have such ‘dream man’ persona off-screen.

If a woman dreams a personality like Mahesh Babu or Prabhas or Vijay Deverakonda and lives her life imagining them, it is believable.

Here Havish has played this role and his persona doesn’t fit for this aspect. This is why the film’s main point in the second half looks odd and unbelievable.

The film has many actresses but it primarily focuses on Regina’s character which is seemingly based on Farhan Akhtar’s role in Bollywood film “Karthik Calling Karthik”.

To be fair, the film’s final portions are a bit interesting compared to the rest of the mess. Regina makes them riveting with her performance but her thread is stretched beyond point and portions involving Regina’s old self (another actress has played Regina’s old woman character) have turned into laughable fare.

This is another example that Ramesh Varma’s poor writing skills and Havish’s expression-less action.

All in all, “Seven” has half dozen heroines but it offers little redeemable points but it sure provides head-ache.
