Producer’s Son Bags Second Film?

Share

For coming up with films like Pellichoopulu and Mental Madhilo, producer Raj Kandukuri has carved a name for himself. And now, he’s all set to introduce his son Shiva Kandukuri as the leading man of Telugu films very soon.

Reports have that Raj Kandukuri has roped in a lady director to handle the debut film of his son. While the shooting of that film is completed, with post-production work underway, it is now being heard that he’s making his son’s second film too. An associate of RX100 director Ajay Bhupathi is said to be making a commercial masala film with Shiva in the lead.

At a time when heroes like Bellamkonda Srinivas, Sumanth Ashwin and others, who happens to be sons of some popular big budgeted film producers are struggling to make a mark, we have to see what will Raj Kandukuri’s son do. It is not tough to make an impact, all it takes is conviction, performance and timing.

And then, Raj Kanduri is said to be looking at other scripts as well such that he could repeat the success of Pelli Choopulu yet again.

In Pics: Warangal girl Exploding Now

Industry talk is that when they asked her to sizzle in glamorous roles, she always said a no. And now, she’s exploding with juicy hotness thereby giving signals that she wants to sizzle in such ‘star heroine’ kinds of roles. So, what is in store for her?

Warangal girl Eesha Rebba is desperately trying to grab all the attention with her latest set of pictures she shared on Twitter. Showcasing her juicy curves including that of a hot navel show, she’s making sure that the summer of Telugu people will get hotter and harsh. And this is what some filmmakers asked of her long back.

Though she’s known for her performance, when Eesha was given chances in various films where the directors are said to have asked her for a glamour touch, she opted out of such movies. That’s how opportunities have flown out of her hands many times. And it looks like she has a change of opinion now.

A filmmaker on condition of anonymity commented on this happening this way: “Film industry is a tricky place where you need to cash on your craze when offers knock your doors. But there is no use if you want to catch leaves after getting caught by fire”. Let’s see what happens in Eesha’s case.

Naga Chaitanya Breaks Into New Territory

Share

For the first time ever, hero Naga Chaitanya might have understood his true box office potential as he breaks into territories after territories with his new film Majili. Definitely, this is a moment of triumph for the hero who took years to get the right foot.

Apart from Manam, which happens to be a multi-starrer he has done with dad Nagarjuna, this young Akkineni lad has no film as a solo hero that made huge collections. It is the remake movie Premam that became his biggest solo hit with 22 crores share to its kitty. And then, Majili did the unthinkable for him.

Leaving aside masala touch and routine potboilers, offbeat film Majili which is laced with lots of reality has worked big time for Naga Chaitanya we have to say. And the presence of his wife Samantha in the leading role has done him a great help. Combined with director Siva Nirvana’s truthful making, the film has posted 38+ crores share after 4 weeks of a run at the box office.

This itself is a record of sorts and if he breaks into 40 crores club, that will be the new benchmark for his upcoming films to achieve.

Later she appeared in a few films like Shivalinga and Neevevaro but couldn’t make much impact.

The image that she gained with Guru seems to be haunting her. So Ritika started showing her hotter side to counter it. She is getting bolder by the day and posing in revealing costumes.

Her latest photo shoot in a knotted, unbuttoned white shirt has set the temperatures soaring. Ritika is surely grabbing eyeballs with this eye popping skin show.

Has she got the attention of producers or not?

Mumbai in playoffs after Super Over win vs SRH

Share

Mumbai: In yet another nail-biting clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL), three-time champions Mumbai Indians held its nerves to become the third team to qualify for the playoffs after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Super Over at the Wankhede Stadium here on Thursday.

It was Manish Pandey’s ‘never give up’ effort which helped Hyderabad, who were chasing a 163-run target, tie the score and take the contest to a Super Over. However, Hyderabad could only manage eight runs before Mumbai overhauled the target with ease and three balls to spare.

Earlier, Pandey’s (71 unbeaten off 47) last-ball six denied Mumbai a thrilling win as his fighting knock along with Mohammed Nabi’s valuable (31 off 20) effort helped Hyderabad level the score in the stipulated 20 overs.

Pandey, whose scintillating knock was laced with eight boundaries and couple of sixes, kept his side on hunt as he kept one end intact despite Mumbai jolting the visitors at regular intervals in the first 15 overs.

Chasing the 163-run target, Hyderabad openers Wriddhiman Saha (25 off 15) and Martin Guptill (15 off 11) handed a fine start as the visitors raced away to 30 runs in the first three overs. Jasprit Bumrah came with the first breakthrough for Mumbai, sending back Saha in the fourth over.

Just when the hosts added another 17 runs, Bumrah struck again to account for the other Hyderabad opener in the sixth over, leaving them at 57/2. Krunal Pandya was then successful in making further inroads in the visiting batting line-up as he claimed Kane Williamson (3 off 7) soon, which reduced Hyderabad to 65/3.

Krunal struck again to dismiss Vijay Shankar (12) while his brother Hardik Pandya also joined the party, sending back Abhishek Sharma (2) cheaply, which left the visitors reeling at 105/5 in 14.3 overs.

Despite the blows, Pandey kept his wicket safe and was later involved in a crucial 49-run partnership with Nabi. The duo not only denied Mumbai making any further onslaughts but also helped their side touch the 150-run mark in 19.3 overs.

Just when it seemed the duo would easily drive their side home, Hardik came with a twist in tale as he sent back a good-looking Nabi with two balls left.

With eight needed of the final two deliveries, Pandey took a couple in the second last delivery before slamming Hardik for a maximum at long-on to keep the contest alive.

For Mumbai, Bumrah, Hardik and Krunal scalped couple of wickets each.

Opting to bat, Mumbai rode opener Quinton de Kock’s valiant knock of 69 (unbeaten) off 58 balls to post 162/5.

Despite getting little support from the other end, de Kock kept his cool and helped the three-time champions reach a respectable total. The opener’s knock contained six boundaries and two hits into the stands.

Opting to bat, Mumbai were off to a decent but cautious start with the scoreboard reading 26/0 in the initial three overs. While Rohit Sharma (24 off 18) clobbered Hyderabad bowlers, de Kock played second fiddle to the Mumbai captain.

Khaleel drew the first blood for his side and sent back a dangerous looking Rohit in the sixth over, leaving Mumbai at 36/1. The Mumbai skipper played an overambitious pull shot on a delivery that bounced a bit more and popped up in the air only to be caught by Nabi at mid-on.

Incoming batsman Suryakumar Yadav (23 off 17) and de Kock then tried to repair the early damage, adding 54 runs for the second wicket. Just when the home side was approaching the three-digit mark, Khaleel struck again to break the partnership. He cut short Suryakumar’s stay in the middle, reducing Mumbai to 90/2 in 11.2 overs.

Nabi spelled further trouble for Mumbai and just after the addition of a run, he packed back Evin Lewis (1 off 6) in the 13th over.

Hardik then played a quick 10-ball 18, with the help of a four and a six. But the Mumbai all-rounder failed to spend much time in the middle as Bhuvneshwar Kumar applied brakes on his innings in the 16th over, with Mumbai placed at 119/4.

Kieron Pollard (10 off 9) and de Kock then shared a short 32-run partnership for the fifth wicket, helping their side cross the 150-run mark in 18.5 overs. Pollard was dismissed in the final over by Khaleel before Krunal Pandya chipped in with an unbeaten 9 off three balls as Mumbai reached a fighting total.

For the visitors, Khaleel bagged three wickets for 42 runs and Bhuvneshwar and Nabi got one wicket each.

Brief scores: Mumbai Indians 162/5 (Quinton de Kock 69, Rohit Sharma 24; Khaleel Ahmed 3/42) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad 162/6 (Manish Pandey 71 not out, Mohammad Nabi 31; Hardik Pandya 2/20) in Super Over.

Asked if she is a fan of long hair, Kiara said: “I cannot remember when I cut the length of my hair. I am a long hair fan. I love my long hair, unless I am in a mood to experiment. Having said that, if I have to, I can cut my hair for a film if my role requires.”

Somireddy can be one-day minister!

Share

At last, Telugu Desam Party leader and Andhra Pradesh agriculture minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy could get an opportunity to play the role of the minister at least for one day.

After repeated requests and challenges, the Election Commission on Thursday gave a conditional permission to Somireddy to conduct a review meeting with officials at his chambers in Secretariat at 4 pm on Friday. Chief Electoral Officer Gopala Krishna Dwivedi sent a communication to this effect to the minister.

The CEO said the minister would be permitted to hold the meeting on the impact of extremely severe cyclone Fani, drought situation in the state and other issues.

He ordered that the officials should not talk to the media about the outcome of the meeting and also not release the visuals of the meeting to the media. Besides, a representative of the EC would also attend the meeting.

However, Somireddy said though the officials were not permitted to speak to the media, he would conduct a press conference after the review meeting to explain the status of the agriculture in the state.

He said he would also review on the action plans to be taken for the ensuing agriculture season.

In fact, Somireddy planned to conduct a review meeting on Tuesday but despite prior information, the officials did not attend the meeting.

He called for a second meeting on Wednesday, but then, too, the officials did not turn up. An agitated minister asked for explanation from the concerned officials and also threatened to resign from the post.

However, he wrote a letter to EC as a last resort and the EC gave him permission to hold the meeting in the wake of cyclone Fani.

So, at least for a day, Somireddy can act as a real minister!

Naidu to visit Polavaram unofficially?

Share

CM N Chandrababu Naidu inspecting the Polavaram project works in West Godavari district on Tuesday.
Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has developed a lot of affinity towards Polavaram irrigation project in the last five years for various reasons.

Naidu made it a point to personally monitor the progress of the project and dedicated every Monday for reviewing the project works.

His political rivals accused him of making big money in the form of kickbacks from contractors of Polavaram project.

Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged that Polavaram project was like an ATM for Chandrababu Naidu.

Of course, the TDP leaders deny these allegations, but politically, too, the project has become very important for Naidu. He made a desperate bid to claim credit for the project in the recent elections.

Even after the elections, Naidu tried to continue the practice of reviewing the progress of Polavaram project, but the EC issued him a stern warning against holding any review meetings in the wake of election code of conduct.

Now, with just 20 days left for the declaration of results, Naidu wants to take at least one last look at the project works physically.

He has decided to visit the Polavaram Irrigation project on May 6, the coming Monday to see the progress achieved so far.

Interestingly, Naidu had a meeting on Polavaram project at Secretariat on the progress of the project works. In this review meeting, Minister for Water Resources D Umamaheswara Rao, Principal Secretary for AP Water Resources department Shashi Bhushan Kumar and other concerned officials have participated.

During the meeting, Kumar briefed Chief Minister on the progress achieved at the Polavaram dam site in the last one week as well as the last month.

Though the election code of conduct is in effect and the polling was conducted in the state, the progress of the works were not affected.

Payments for the contractors have been paying properly. Chief Minister also expressed satisfaction on continuation of the works.

One does not know how the EC had allowed Naidu’s meeting and whether it will permit Naidu to visit the project site officially.

Otherwise, it will be an unofficial visit of the chief minister to Polavaram project!

KCR to make another dalit leader a scapegoat!

Share

In his first tenure as Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao has made then deputy CM T Rajaiah, a dalit leader, as a scapegoat for ‘corruption’ in medical and health department, the portfolio allocated to Rajaiah.

In his second term as CM, KCR appears to make another dalit leader Kadiam Srihari a scapegoat in Inter results goof-up issue.

Interestingly, both these dalit leaders hail from Warangal district.

KCR axed Rajaiah from his cabinet without citing any reason within six months of coming to power in January 2015.

But KCR gave leaks to media that he was sacked because he indulged in corruption while discharging duties as deputy CM.

Now, KCR seems to be preparing ground to hold Kadiam Srihari responsible for Inter results mess up apparently to divert the attention of people and media from levelling accusations on his son KTR for having ‘close links’ with Globarena, the firm which goofed up inter results leading to suicides by over 20 students.

Globarena got Inter Board results contract when KTR was IT minister.

KTR and his staunch supporter MLA Balka Suman, who is also a dalit leader, started giving statements that KTR has no role in handing over contract to Globarena as IT minister since Inter board issues are handled by education department, which was held by Kadiam Srihari as deputy CM in KCR’s cabinet then.

They are stating that it’s the decision of Kadiam to handover the contract to Globarena and KTR had no role in this.

One wonders whether is it possible for anyone in TRS government to award contracts to anyone without the knowledge and approval of KCR or KTR.

Everyone knows that all ministers in KCR’s cabinet are just ‘dummies’ and even to purchase pins and plain papers in their office, they need to take approval from KCR and they should purchase them only from those people or firms which KCR and KTR suggest.

Poor Kadiam is no more the minister now. He is just an MLC and leading a calm life in Warangal.

But now KTR and Balka Suman have dragged Kadiam into Inter results scam.

Seems, KCR has set the stage for making Kadiam a scapegoat in Inter results fiasco to protect his son KTR.

Shockingly, only dalit leaders are being made to pay the price for any mess up in the decisions taken by TRS government.

Cyclone Fani triggers heavy rains, gales in Andhra

Share

Visakhapatnam: Extremely severe cyclone storm cyclone Fani, which hit Odisha coast near Puri on Friday morning, triggered heavy rains in parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh, while gusty winds uprooted trees and electricity poles, officials said.

The cyclone moved close to north coastal Andhra before it made landfall in neighbouring Odisha.

Under its impact, gusty winds with speed reaching up to 140 kmph lashed the coastal area of Srikakulam district.

Srikakulam District Collector J. Nivas said three houses were damaged due to the winds but there was no loss of life.

About 20,000 people were shifted to 126 relief camps in Srikakulam district, where seven ‘mandals’ (blocks) are likely to be affected by the cyclone. A red alert was sounded in the district with authorities taking preventive measures to avoid loss of life and minimise property damages.

Nine National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams were deployed in the district.

According to Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) officials in Amaravati, Srikakulam’s Kanchili ‘mandal’ received highest rainfall of 19 cm since Thursday.

The heavy rains could also cause Vamsadhara and Nagavali rivers to overflow leading to floods in the region, officials said.

Heavy downpours also lashed Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam, two other districts in the north coastal Andhra, since Thursday.

The Indian Railways have cancelled about 100 trains between Visakhapatnam and Howrah on Friday and Saturday.

Authorities have also cancelled 22 flights from Visakhapatnam Airport.
