Back then, when the movie Second Hand got released, many felt that director Kishore Tirumala did a fab job. But frankly, most of the jokes in the film are actually googled quotes, WhatsApp forwards and Facebook memes. And it looks like he ran out of that stuff now.

It has been a long way since then as he has come up with Nenu Sailaja, Unnadi Okate Zindagi and Chitralahari now. Film by film, Kishore lost the dose of comedy he is inducing into these stories and they have come to a position where the narrative is quite flat.

If we look at today’s release Chitralahari, the only hilarious joke he could come up with is where Sunil gives a 5 rupees worth Moongdal packet back to a wine shop guy, saying that it was given by the shop keeper other day in place of a 5-rupee change, and asks the shopkeeper to give him 10 rupees. This was put in the trailer and this is also a Facebook joke, which got used in many Bollywood web series and some small time movies.

Those who have seen the film are now commenting that maybe Kishore is running out of such jokes collection.

Star Music Director Turns Producer and Writer

AR Rahman is unequivocally one of the most talented music directors in India. This Grammy-award winner gave a huge collection of memorable songs for more than two and a half decades. The latest news is that this music maestro is now all set to debut as a film producer with a love story titled ’99 Songs’.

Rahman took the news on his Twitter and made a special announcement. ‘I am very excited to announce the release of my first film as a producer and writer, ’99 Songs’, a young passionate love story, with as its soul. My production company, YM movies, is thrilled to have Jio Studios as a partner on this really special venture,’ he wrote.

The film will be open to theatres on 21st June and it will release in three languages, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu global wide. The film is being directed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy and story is written by Rahman himself. The ace composer thanked all his fans and supported for love and encouragement. Just a few days ago, AR Rahman impressed his fans from all over the world with his Marvel India anthem for Avengers: Endgame Hollywood flick.

Prabhas Gets A Job In Charan & Tarak’s RRR

With ‘Baahubali’, Prabhas has become a pan Indian star, so is director Rajamouli. And these two are now coming up with their respective films, Saaho and #RRR. However, many are looking forward to seeing when they are going to reunite for a film again.

Reports are coming that Prabhas will be a part of #RRR as well, in order to give Rajamouli’s heroes Ram Charan and Tarak a mega boost. They say that Prabhas is giving voice over in Telugu to introduce the characters of Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem to the audiences. Also, some say, he might appear in a small cameo as a revolutionary freedom fighter.

Definitely, it is going to be a treat for the audiences in whatever the way Prabhas will get attached to this film of Rajamouli. Also, Prabhas is pretty close to Charan and Tarak too, so definitely it is expected that he will be doing something for this project. Currently, the #RRR team is waiting for Charan to recover from ankle injury such that they will start the shooting again.

Over 79% polling in Andhra Pradesh

A little over 79 per cent voters cast their votes in the simultaneous elections to 175-member Andhra Pradesh Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats on Thursday, poll officials said on Friday.

Officials said 79.05 per cent turnout was recorded but this may go up further as final polling figure was yet to be received from Mangalagiri Assembly segment.

The polling percentage has gone up compared to 2014 elections when 77.80 per cent turnout was recorded.

The Election Commission has not yet taken a decision on the demand by some parties for a repoll in a few polling booths, where the poll process was affected by malfunctioning Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) or poll violence.

Two persons were killed and scores of others injured in clashes between workers of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

The polling was marred by complaints of malfunctioning of EVMs in several booths. The polling in 400 polling stations continued beyond 6 p.m. and in some places voters cast their votes past midnight.

Authorities had set up 46,120 polling stations for a little over 3.93 crore voters.

There were 319 candidates in fray for Lok Sabha seats while 2,118 candidates contested the Assembly polls.

NRI In US Jailed For Life For Sexually Exploiting Girl

NEW YORK: A 41-year-old Indian-origin man in the US has been sentenced to life in prison for enticing a girl to engage in sexual conduct and 30 years’ imprisonment for production of child pornography.

Deepak Deshpande of California, who pleaded guilty in October last year, was sentenced by US District Judge Carlos Mendoza on Thursday.

According to court documents and evidence presented during the sentencing hearing, Deshpande contacted the girl in Orlando through an online chat application in July 2017.

At that time, Deshpande posed as a modelling agent and persuaded the girl to send him nude images of herself.

In the months that followed, Deshpande contacted the same girl, posing as two other individuals, and threatened to disseminate her nude images if she did not continue producing additional child pornography for him.

In September 2017, Deshpande travelled to Orlando in Florida from California to meet the girl in person for the first time.

He brought her to a local hotel and filmed himself sexually assaulting the victim multiple times. Between September 2017 and April 2018, he repeated the same conduct during four additional visits to Orlando.

In early May 2018, following an anonymous tip, the FBI began investigating Deshpande. An undercover FBI agent then began posing as the girl in communications with Deshpande.

As a result of the undercover investigation, Deshpande returned to Orlando and was arrested upon his arrival at the Orlando International Airport.

Following his arrest, Deshpande plotted to kidnap and murder the girl in advance of his trial. He recruited a fellow inmate, whom he believed would soon be released, to serve as a middleman.

Deshpande gave the inmate names and contact information for individuals who might be willing to carry out the abduction and murder and furnished personal details concerning the victim and her family, including her residence and schedule.

However, the FBI conducted an undercover investigation thwarting his efforts.

“This case is particularly noteworthy in the level of planning conducted and depravity displayed by the perpetrator.

“I would like to recognise the courage of the victim who helped make sure this predator cannot hurt others and also encourage our community to remain vigilant online and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement,” Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Tampa Division Eric Sporre said.

Big B will soon be seen in fantasy trilogy ‘Brahmastra’, produced by Dharma Productions. It is releasing this Christmas. Also backed by Fox Star Studios, the movie stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna in key roles.

Besides this, he is making his Tamil film debut too.

Paritala warns of reviving faction feuds!

Till a few years ago, Anantapur had been witnessing factional killings between two groups led by Paritala Ravindra and Maddelacheruvu Suri. After the death of Ravi and arrest of Suri, the factonism had come down completely.

Though Suri was also killed a few years ago, it was purely for money and not due to factional feuds. Occasionally, one used to hear about violence indulged in by JC brothers in Tadipatri area.

Now the violence came to the fore once again, thanks to the assembly elections. In Tadipatri, two persons were killed – one each belonging to TDP and YSR Congress party in election related clashes between two factions.

But the factionism is now showing signs of its ugly head in Rapthadu, the constituency of Paritala Ravi’s wife and minister Paritala Sunitha.

On Thursday, Sunitha warned YSRC leaders against questioning her authority in Rapthadu by indulging in violent activities.

“We stopped factional feuds almost 15 years ago. If you want to create such circumstances again, you will face the consequences. So, don’t behave in a manner to revive factonism,” Sunitha warned YSRC candidate Topudurthi Prakash Reddy.

She alleged that the fear of defeat made YSRCP leaders engage in violence at polling booths and campaigns.

Sunitha’s son Paritala Sriram is contesting the elections from Rapthtadu this time against Prakash Reddy.

She said the TDP activists had never caused any hurdles to Prakash Reddy when he visited polling stations. But, Prakash Reddy and YSRCP activists created many hurdles and tried to attack Sriram.

“I am asking Prakash Reddy to leave faction-politics. Don’t spoil your political future with factionism. We got rid of factionism 14 years ago and the people of all sections are living peacefully in the constituency. Don’t think our peace as our inability,” she said.

Pawan may be unlucky, but JD is lucky?

Reports from ground zero in Visakhapatnam are giving an interesting input, though it is too early to make any prediction.

According to these reports, Jana Sena Party chief and power star Pawan Kalyan is unlikely to win the elections from Gajuwaka assembly segment in Visakhapatnam.

Apparently, both the Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress party took the elections prestigiously and gave a tough fight, while Pawan Kalyan could not match up to them in the last minute poll management.

However, there could be a solace for Pawan in Visakhapatnam, if the reports are to be believed.

His party candidate for Visakhapatnam parliamentary constituency and former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) joint director V V Lakshminarayana is likely to emerge as a dark horse amidst the toughest contest among TDP, BJP and YSR Congress party candidates.

It is learnt the voters had a tough time in choosing among BJP candidate – former Union minister Daggubati Purandeshwari, her nephew and TDP candidate M Sri Bharat (who happens to be Nandamuri Balakrishna’s son-in-law) and YSRC candidate M V V Satyanarayana.

In the process, many voters apparently felt that Lakshminarayana is an ideal choice as he has a clean image and appeared sincere.

His approach to the voters was also innovative without any fanfare and hungama and finally, the voters were attracted towards his personal manifesto drafted on a bond paper.

So, they had alternative choices for the assembly candidates including Pawan Kalyan, they cross voted for Lakshminarayana, reports said.

But, there is always a percentage of error in such reports, as it is too difficult to read the people’s mind in such close contests. So, let us wait till May 23!
