Vijay Deverakonda Revisits His Roots at Dil Raju Dreams Launch

Before Arjun Reddy shook up Indian cinema and before the stardom that followed, Vijay Deverakonda was just one among thousands—another hopeful face chasing a dream. At the launch of Dil Raju Dreams, a new talent platform in Hyderabad, Vijay took a moment to step away from the limelight and speak directly to the aspiring artists in the crowd. And instead of glamor, he offered something rarer: honesty.
He spoke about 2012—a year when he had just graduated from college, searching desperately for any way into the film industry. “I used to refresh Idlebrain every day looking for casting calls,” he recalled. One day, he spotted an audition notice for a Sekhar Kammula film. Without hesitation, he applied.
What followed wasn’t a fairy tale. It was six months of uncertainty—auditions, callbacks, and waiting. Out of 20,000 applicants, only 12 were selected. Vijay was one of them. So was another rising star, Naveen Polishetty. The film? Life is Beautiful—a modest, coming-of-age drama that would give Vijay more than just screen time. “That small film gave me something big—purpose,” he said.
His words to the young dreamers in the audience weren’t rehearsed or flashy. They felt personal. “I know what it’s like to wait for that one phone call,” he said. “That one ‘yes’ can change your life.” And with Dil Raju launching a platform aimed at fresh talent, Vijay’s message resonated: “One day, someone sitting here will stand where I am, telling this same story—with your name in it.”
While his actual first film was Nuvvila, it was Life is Beautiful that became his compass. Since then, his journey has taken him from indie roles to national fame. He’s made his mark with films like The Family Star, made an appearance in Kalki 2898 AD, and is now gearing up for projects like Kingdom and a new film with Rahul Sankrithyan.
But none of this came overnight. It all started with a crowded audition room, a lot of waiting, and the persistence to show up—again and again.
Priyanka Dives Deep into Odisha Culture for SSMB29

A Rajamouli film is never just about grand visuals—it’s about immersive storytelling and layered cultural depth. And with SSMB29, the visionary director is once again pushing boundaries. Starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, the film recently wrapped up a schedule in the scenic hilly terrains of Odisha, and it turns out the location wasn’t chosen just for its aesthetic appeal. The story reportedly has deep-rooted connections to the region’s culture, and Rajamouli is committed to authentically weaving it into the narrative.
As part of this cultural integration, Priyanka Chopra was asked to learn Mayurbhanj Chhau, a traditional dance form native to Odisha. Under the mentorship of renowned artist Vicky Bhartiya, Priyanka trained rigorously in the classical style. Notably, the film will feature three distinct versions of the dance, each carefully embedded into key points of the storyline—not just as artistic embellishments, but as pivotal elements of the plot.
Speaking about the experience, Vicky Bhartiya praised Priyanka’s dedication: “She was completely focused and eager to learn. You could see she wasn’t just doing it for the camera—she genuinely wanted to get it right.” This level of commitment is rare, especially from a mainstream global star for a role that demands deep cultural immersion.
While earlier reports hinted that SSMB29 would revolve around an African jungle adventure or a treasure hunt, the introduction of Odisha’s cultural components hints at a broader, more intricate narrative. Whether it’s dense jungles, lost relics, or forgotten rituals, Rajamouli appears to be building a cinematic world where mythology, culture, and action seamlessly blend.
One thing is clear: Priyanka Chopra’s role is no mere cameo. Her effort to master a demanding classical dance form signals that her character is integral to the film’s core. With Rajamouli at the helm and such dedication from the cast, SSMB29 promises to be yet another landmark in Indian cinema.
Dil Raju’s Honest Talk, Nithiin’s Next Big Bet

Producer Dil Raju is earning widespread appreciation across the Telugu film industry and among audiences for his honest revelations about long-standing manipulative practices within the business. In a rare moment of candor, Raju publicly admitted to previously engaging in tactics such as boosting inorganic YouTube views and using exaggerated box office numbers in film posters. More importantly, he pledged to abandon such practices moving forward, calling for greater transparency in the industry. His bold stance has resonated with many, positioning him as a voice for integrity in Telugu cinema.
As his upcoming production Thammudu, starring Nithiin, nears its theatrical release on July 4, Dil Raju and his team have been actively promoting the film across digital platforms. As part of the campaign, Raju and Nithiin participated in a heartfelt interview that looked back on their 22-year journey together—one that began with their breakout collaboration Dil in 2003. That film not only launched Nithiin’s career but also earned Raju the “Dil” prefix that has stuck ever since.
In the interview, Nithiin asked Raju to reflect on the highs and lows of their two-decade partnership. Raju responded with warmth and sincerity: “You’re technically my senior—you started a year before me,” he said with a smile. “You’ve faced challenges and bounced back stronger, which shows in your growth. But honestly, when I was making Dil with you and Arya with Allu Arjun, I believed both of you would rise to even greater stardom. You’ve certainly become a star, but I feel your potential hasn’t been fully realized yet.”
Nithiin, known for his grounded nature and sense of humor, took the feedback in stride, even joking about whether Thammudu could finally be the game-changer. Raju responded optimistically, stating that while Thammudu is likely to do well, it may not be the defining moment in Nithiin’s career. However, he expressed strong confidence in Yellamma—an upcoming film directed by Balagam’s Venu Yeldandi and also produced by Dil Raju—as a project that could mark a significant shift in Nithiin’s stardom.
Through his candid remarks on industry malpractices and his ongoing support for honest storytelling and emerging talent, Dil Raju continues to reinforce his reputation as one of Telugu cinema’s most respected and influential figures. His recent words not only reflect personal growth but also signal a larger cultural shift within the industry—toward accountability, sincerity, and long-term credibility.
Baloch Student Killed After Abduction in Panjgur

Zeeshan Baloch, a 21-year-old student from Khudabadan, Panjgur in Balochistan, was found dead on Monday morning after reportedly being abducted by a Pakistan-backed death squad, according to the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).
In a statement issued by the BYC, the organisation confirmed that Zeeshan’s body, bearing multiple gunshot wounds, was discovered near the Surdu Ghareeb Nawaz Hotel around 9:00 a.m. The incident has sparked outrage among human rights groups and local communities, who allege ongoing state-sponsored violence in the region.
Zeeshan was abducted late Sunday evening from Football Chowk in Panjgur. In response, his family held a sit-in protest on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) road, demanding his immediate release and raising concerns about his safety. Despite public appeals, his body was recovered less than 24 hours later.
Zeeshan was the son of Zaheer Ahmed, who has been missing since April 13, 2015, following his own enforced disappearance. According to the BYC, the family had faced repeated threats due to their peaceful activism, including campaigns to secure Zaheer Ahmed’s release.
“The tragic murder of Zeeshan highlights the generational trauma inflicted upon Baloch families through systemic repression and enforced disappearances,” the BYC said. “The very son who campaigned for his father’s return has now become the latest victim.”
Human rights group Paank also condemned Zeeshan’s abduction and killing, holding the Pakistan Army and affiliated militias responsible. Paank highlighted Zeeshan’s active involvement in raising awareness about enforced disappearances, including his participation in a long march to Islamabad.
Both BYC and Paank have renewed their calls for international human rights organisations to take urgent action to address the deteriorating human rights situation in Balochistan.
Kim Jong-un, Russian Minister Pledge Deeper Cultural Ties

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met with Russia’s Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova in Pyongyang on Sunday to explore ways of deepening bilateral cooperation in culture and the arts, according to North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
The meeting, held at the Central Committee headquarters of the ruling Workers’ Party, was also attended by Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexandr Matsegora. Lyubimova is leading a Russian culture ministry delegation on a visit to Pyongyang, which began Saturday, to commemorate the first anniversary of the North Korea–Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty.
During the talks, Kim hailed the “broad and in-depth exchanges” across sectors following the treaty’s signing, noting that these efforts have yielded “tangible contributions to the mutual development and well-being” of both nations. He emphasized that cultural and artistic exchanges serve as vital instruments in shaping public sentiment and reinforcing the “ties of friendship, comradeship, and mutual understanding.”
“It is important for the cultural sector to guide the relations between the two countries,” Kim said, according to KCNA. “It is necessary to further expand the exchange and cooperation in the field of culture and art to know well about each other’s excellent cultural traditions and learn more.”
Kim highlighted Lyubimova’s visit, alongside Russian art troupes, as a meaningful step toward enhancing North Koreans’ understanding of Russian culture. He expressed confidence that the visit would bolster the “militant comradeship and feelings of friendship” between the two nations.
For her part, Lyubimova described the visit as occurring at a time when the “solidity and invincibility” of the DPRK-Russia friendship is more evident than ever. She noted that cultural cooperation between the two nations has reached an all-time high.
The leaders also discussed future plans for bilateral cultural exchanges and attended performances by both Russian and North Korean art troupes. Notably, KCNA-released images from the event showed a stage backdrop depicting North Korean forces supporting Russia in the Ukraine conflict, with performers waving both nations’ flags.
Kim’s daughter, Ju-ae, accompanied him at the meeting, marking her second appearance at a high-level diplomatic event, following her attendance at the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang in May.
Separately, North Korea’s Culture Minister Sung Jong-gyu held talks with Lyubimova at the Mansudae Assembly Hall, where the two signed a bilateral cultural cooperation agreement covering the period from 2025 to 2027.
The series of meetings underscores the growing ties between Pyongyang and Moscow, particularly in cultural and military spheres, following the signing of a mutual defense pact on June 19, 2024.
Trump Signals TikTok Deal Pending China’s Approval

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed that a potential deal is underway to sell TikTok to a group of wealthy American investors, but indicated that the transaction may hinge on approval from Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In an interview aired Sunday on Fox News, Trump stated, “We have a buyer for TikTok, by the way… I think I’ll need probably China’s approval. I think President Xi will probably do it.” He declined to disclose the identities of the prospective buyers, saying they would be revealed “in about two weeks.”
The development comes amid ongoing uncertainty over TikTok’s future in the United States. Under legislation passed in 2024, ByteDance—the China-based parent company of TikTok—is required to divest the app’s U.S. operations or face a nationwide ban. The original deadline for divestment has been extended three times, with Trump playing a central role in negotiations. The current deadline is set for September 17, 2025.
Trump has frequently acknowledged TikTok’s influence on his popularity among younger voters during the 2024 presidential election, adding political weight to the debate. Earlier this year, negotiations were underway to spin off TikTok’s U.S. business into a separate entity majority-owned and controlled by American stakeholders. However, those talks reportedly stalled after China expressed resistance—particularly after Trump imposed new tariffs on Chinese goods.
In previous statements, Trump floated the possibility of a joint venture that would allow ByteDance to retain partial ownership while granting American investors a 50% or greater stake. He has mentioned prominent allies such as Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and Tesla CEO Elon Musk as potential buyers, though Musk’s involvement now appears doubtful.
As the September deadline approaches, attention is focused on whether ByteDance will proceed with the divestment and whether the Chinese government will approve any proposed transaction. A deal of this scale would likely require clearance from both the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and Chinese regulatory authorities, adding further complexity to an already high-stakes geopolitical negotiation.

This collaboration symbolizes more than just a career move—it signals the growing convergence of India’s thriving digital creator ecosystem with the established pillars of mainstream entertainment.
Pawan’s Outburst Shakes Tollywood: Dil Raju Responds

Power Star and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan recently expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Telugu film industry’s representatives. He was upset that, even after a year of the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance forming the government in Andhra Pradesh, leading members of Tollywood had not yet met CM Chandrababu Naidu. Pawan lashed out, stating that the industry’s return gift would be answered appropriately if this neglect continued.
Following Pawan Kalyan’s comments, industry representatives began preparing to meet the Chief Minister. AP Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh reportedly contacted several key film personalities, inviting them to a meeting scheduled for June 15 at 4 PM at Chandrababu Naidu’s residence in Undavalli. However, the meeting was postponed at the last minute.
Sources from the film industry claim that most invitees were out of town due to prior shooting commitments, which led to the meeting being delayed. A new date for the meeting is yet to be finalized.
Reacting to the developments, senior producer Dil Raju spoke out in a recent interview. “When the press note came from Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s office, the entire industry was shaken. A meeting was fixed for the day after the Gaddar Awards ceremony in Telangana. But the next morning, we were informed it wouldn’t happen due to shoots. That didn’t sit well. Someone had to speak up,” he stated.
He further added, “It’s been a year since the CM took office, and the industry hadn’t yet met him. When a note comes from a star of that stature, we must show respect. Shoots should be paused, and everyone should go. In the future, we’ll expect awards and support from the government—so building a healthy relationship is important.”
Dil Raju clarified that the meeting was fixed four days prior to the Gaddar Awards and that Minister Durgesh had personally called everyone. “That in itself is significant. Leaving aside those who weren’t invited, even some of those who were called didn’t attend. That’s the real issue,” he explained.
He also pointed out the practical challenges: “The film industry is diverse. Some are actively acting, directing, or producing. When something important arises, we must invite those who are truly active and affected. A Chamber meeting is being scheduled to discuss a new date. All the industry chambers are important, but as Pawan Kalyan rightly said, it’s not always possible to go through all chambers for every issue. There’s a difference between a need and a crisis.”
