Akkineni Brothers Testing Luck With Geetha Arts

Share

Say it nepotism or not, Tollywood has many heroes who have made their entry as actors into the film industry through their family backing. But this route is not something that will give immediate success and stardom.

While few of them like Mahesh, NTR and Charan went on to become superstars with their hard work, many others are struggling to get a breakthrough. Two such heroes are none other than our Akkineni brothers, Naga Chaitanya and Akhil. They want some super successful films now to cement their position in Tollywood.

Probably Premam is the last hit scored by Naga Chaitanya, as later he has tasted four bitter flops and one average movie in a row. With the likes of Sailaja Reddy Alludu and Savyasachi also biting the dust, he needs a big turn around to his career now. Same is the case with younger one Akhil who scored back to back flops in a row since his debut.

Right now both these brothers are said to be doing movies with mega camp, aka Geetha Arts. While Chay will feature in Geetha Govindam director Parasuram’s next, Akhil will be acting in Bommarillu Bhaskar’s direction. Both the films are being taken care of by Allu Arvind only. Hope the films shine luck on them.

Once Naidu gives his approval, then we will be seeing Boyapati’s creation for Telugudesam party on small screen. After wrapping the work related to these political films, the director will move to work on the script of his upcoming movie that features Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead.

He Is The ‘Political Chanakya’ Of YSRCP!

Share

The facts are out in the open. The bitterness is well-known and hence, now he is back in politics to avenge the loss of his time and image in Telugu politics. Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, who is the son-in-law of TDP founder and former CM of united Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) and co-brother of AP Chief Minister and TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, is making his political moves carefully and quietly.

After the death of NTR, Chandrababu Naidu staked claim of TDP and became the successor of NTR’s legacy, sidelining Daggubati Venkateswara Rao. This snubbed NTR’s other daughter (Purandeswari) and her husband Venkateswara Rao. They joined the Congress led by Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy as he successfully dethroned Chandrababu in 2004. She became a minister in the UPA regime. The Congress was the obvious platform for the Daggubati family to challenge Chandrababu as they did not find a place in the TDP.

However, post-bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh, with no option left, Purandeswari quit Congress who was decimated in the truncated AP and joined BJP. Realising that the BJP doesn’t have much chance in Andhra Pradesh and that their political future is at stake, Daggubati Venkateswara Rao’s only option to challenge Chandrababu was to join YSR Congress.

Ever since his entry into YSRCP, Daggubati has become a ‘Chanakya’ in the party. His entry into YSR Congress party benefits him in two ways – One, he can take political revenge of the TDP Chief who took centerstage and hogged the limelight by keep TDP intact and second, he can play a crucial role in helping Jagan win in Andhra Pradesh.

Unveiling his plans one by one gradually, he is playing a key role in helping YSR Congress poach Telugu Desam Party’s MPs and MLAs. And, how? He is using his connections and lobbying intensely with ‘Kamma’ industrialists to join YSRCP in order to secure the finances for election campaigns. On the other hand, he is targeting MPs in Telugu Desam who could be easy turncoats and help YSR Congress.

According to inside reports from YSRCP, there is news that Daggubati may have got hold of TDP’s list of candidates who will be getting tickets and hence, is poaching those who may not get tickets and turning them against Telugu Desam. While there are a slew of MLAs and MPs lining up to join YSR Congress, it definitely looks like Daggubati’s plans are currently working for Jagan.

However, one still needs to understand how Daggubati will survive in a party where NTR’s second wife, Lakshmi Parvathi, also is a member. As someone who opposed her marriage to NTR and took the family’s side in staging a coup along with Chandrababu, it is still a surprise on how long will the Daggubatis go on in YSR Congress party!

UPA to be renamed as PPA ?

Share

The probability of renaming United Progressive Alliance(UPA) to the People’s Progressive Alliance (PPA) is on talks. The idea of renaming it could have probably arisen in order to avoid further corruption scams and scandals associated with it.

In case if the name is changed, all the old parties in the UPA would soon position themselves by the new name, be it before or after elections. These prior parties have earlier decided to fight in unity against BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

With a lot of political baggage linked with UPA, the idea of modifying the name has arrived post the group discussion between parties. Last week, Mamata Banerjee had announced a pre-poll tie-up and a Common Minimum Programme on February 25 or 26 after a meeting among Opposition leaders. The meeting was attended by the Congress President Rahul Gandhi, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Delhi chief minister, and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal. But the decision to finalize a pre-poll tie-up is not yet made as there are various arch-rivals to compete for the upcoming pollls.

As per the inside sources, the TMC had approached the BJP leader and ex UM Yashwant Sinha to draft a document even before Mamata Banerjee announced about it. But when asked about the same to Mr Sinha, he said no one had approached him for drafting any CMP. He also confirmed that he would not be able to attend a possible meeting on Feb 25 as he have already made other commitments.

YS Jagan leaves to London

Share

Finally YS Jagan is going to spend some quality time with his family. With padayatra for a year and half or so, Jagan was confined to the roads and after wrapping it up, he got busy with political developments of Andhra Pradesh.

Jagan was supposed to visit London in the first week of this month but got delayed due to unknown reasons. On Tuesday night Jagan left to London along with his wife Bharati. There he will be meeting his elder daughter Varsha Reddy who is pursuing her studies in London School of Economics.

For about a week, Jagan will be in London and his return is expected on February 26th. After the arrival, YSRCP boss will kick-start the election campaign.

AP CM Comes Forward For Comedian Ali?

Share

Openly announcing that he will be joining the party that will offer him MLA ticket as well as Minister seat, comedian Ali has clarified how greedy he is when it comes to politics. But he supported his argument saying that the people from his community wants him to see in a top position in politics.

All said and done, Ali is wavering between various political outfits and it looks like finally, he will be sailing with old ship Telugu Desam party only. In the wake of a cultural organization felicitating Ali for completing 40 years in Films, an event is being held at Vijayawada in a couple of days. AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is coming as a Chief Guest for this event.

Reports are coming that Naidu will be welcoming Ali into active politics at this event and the movie artist will be announcing that he will be contesting from the place of his choice in 2019 elections. These political speculations are doing strong rounds at the moment, so we have to see what message will be given by Naidu and Ali on that day.

Varma Meets Ambati At Park Hyatt, What’s Up?

Share

Seems like YSR Congress folks are not in a mood to turn any single opportunity in their favor. Other day Nagarjuna went to meet YS Jagan at his Lotus Pond residence, while Jr NTR’s father in law met YSR Congress leaders a couple of days ago. And now comes the turn of Ram Gopal Varma.

Though this maverick director has denied that there is no backing of YSR Congress folks for his Lakshmi’s NTR, a film whose trailer is looking more like tarnishing the image of NTR and his family members in the name of some truths. And when Varma is busy promoting his film big time, his meeting with the official spokesperson of YSRCP is raising eyebrows.

Other day Varma is said to have met YSRC leader Ambati Rambabu at Park Hyatt lobby, as per some reports. The two have discussed things for more than 30 minutes at the lobby of the hotel in the glare of many film journalists who are there to attend a film event. But what transpired between these two is not known, though one cannot rule off this as an agenda based meet.

Some sources, however, confirmed that this is just a casual meet that happened accidentally.

Mahanayakudu Producers Rubbish The Rumours Again

Share

Despite the fact that the producers have decided to save the distributors who lost big on the first part, still rumors are doing rounds that the makers of the #NTR biopic are not saving the buyers of the first part #NTR Kathanayakudu.

When quizzed about the same, the makers of #NTR Mahanayakudu confirmed that they are in fact giving the film to very same distributors of the Part I. “Actually Balayya garu and we have unanimously decided to give the second part Mahanayakudu to the distributors who have released the first part such that they could recover from the losses they have made a month ago” said, a source in the know.

But with political intentions and bad marketing propaganda of few opponents taking a sharp rise, there seems to be unwanted promotion against #NTRMahayanayakudu to malign the film’s chances at the box office. However, what is the point in discussing about the losses the film’s first part has caused when the second part is yet to release?

Featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the role of his father, legendary NT Rama Rao, NTR Mahanayakudu will be hitting cinemas on Feb 22nd.

Naidu spends Rs 400 cr public money for TDP surveys!

Share

For TDP chief and AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu, it seems there is no value for hard-earned public money or taxpayers money.

He treats public money like ‘water’Lagadapa and flows it down the drain for his personal gains and party’s interests.

In the latest instance towards his end of first tenure as CM, Naidu has prepared ground to spend Rs 400 crore public money for doing election surveys for TDP for upcoming Assembly polls.

This money is being flown like water into the benami company of so-called “Andhra Octopus” Lagadapati Rajagopal.

Naidu scripted a perfect ‘quid pro quo’ sketch to benefit Lagadapati and in return get surveys done for free for TDP, all at the cost of public money.

TDP government floated a tender for construction of lift irrigation project CBR-YVR-HNSS (Chitravathi balancing reservoir-Yogi Vemanan reservoir- Handri Neeva) at a cost of Rs 1,182 crore.

Tender conditions have been prescribed in such a manner that the contract goes only to a company, which is a benami company of Lagadapati.

Normally, in these kind of works, Joint Ventures are not allowed but for the sake of Lagadapati, this has been relaxed to enable benami company enter into JV with another Naidu’s coterie company and do works.

Not only this, they are allowed to bid in excess of 5 per cent over the tender value.

A Government Order (GO) giving mobilisation advance of Rs 400 crore (public money) to Lagadapati’s company is in the making.

These Rs 400 crore will be utilised to take up surveys on behalf of TDP in every Assembly constituency from March till the date of polling by Lagadapati team every week to alert Naidu on the party’s ground situation, candidates winning prospects, where they can improve, how they can ensure bulk votes etc.

All this will be done at the cost of public money.

Despite Lagadapati’s surveys failed miserably in recent TS Assembly polls, Naidu continues to bet on him at the cost of public money.

GST Officials Continue To Haunt Mahesh!

Share

It looks like the GST woes will not leave Mahesh Babu anytime soon. A couple of months ago, the GST Commissionerate had blocked the Superstar’s bank accounts over an alleged non-payment of service tax of Rs 18.5 lakhs. In a statement, Mahesh said that the matter has been in the court and that he has always been a law-abiding citizen.

Now, Mahesh’s newly launched world-class superplex AMB Cinemas has come under the GST department’s scanner. The GST anti-profiteering wing, Ranga Reddy district, on Tuesday served a showcause notice on AMB Cinemas for violating GST norms.

In a raid conducted on the multiplex, the GST anti-evasion team found out that AMB Cinemas had not reduced the ticket prices even after the central government’s notification. Furthermore, AMB Cinemas had pocketed Rs 35 lakh in January 2019 while violating the anti-profiteering clause in the CGST Act. The multiplex authorities have been asked to cough up Rs 35 lakhs with immediate effect. The GST officials were authorised to book a case against AMB Cinemas under Section 171 of the CGST Act, 2017.

Meanwhile, the AMB Cinemas’ spokesperson maintained that they had not received any notice from GST officials. He also said that they had only obtained a court order fixing the ticket price as per new GST guidelines. The new ticket rates would be effective from February 22nd.

The GST Council had reduced the GST over ticket prices and the new rates became effective from January 1st. For tickets costing more than Rs 100, the tax has been reduced from 28% to 18%. And for the tickets which are of Rs 100 or less, the GST rate was pegged at 12% instead of 18% earlier.
