Wrong Release Proves Costly For 118
Finally, Kalyanram has applied brakes to his flop streak with 118. The film has broken even within just 4 days of its release and has landed all parties in profits from today. Although 118 was released during the exam season, the good word of mouth has helped the film click at the box office. Even the low asking rates are helping the matters.
Trade pundits are predicting that 118 will end up collecting a share of nearly Rs 10 crore by the end of its full run. However, one can’t help but feel sorry for 118, as the wrong season the film released in is affecting the collections and is limiting its success range. 118 couldn’t show any impact at overseas box office.
Kalyanram had scored a blockbuster with Pataas by not releasing it along with the Sankranthi releases and instead releasing it on the January 25th. Had 118 released on the same date, the film would have been a much bigger hit and it would have collected nearly Rs 15 crores.
Even though the film has missed a golden chance to collect big, Kalyanram is happy to have ended his rough patch at last. Even Mahesh Koneru, who has turned a full time producer with 118, is buoyed by the success, and is planning his next project on a grand scale.
Not qualified to be part of Koffee with Karan: Taapsee
‘Pink’ changed the fortunes of Taapsee in Bollywood. Since then she was part of few successful films. ‘Badla’ is the next of Taapsee which is gearing up for release which is releasing this Friday.
Taapsee is quite active on Twitter and last time she slammed a netizen when was asked about her favourite body part. Now she took an indirect dig at Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar and his show ‘Koffee With Karan.’ The season six of this talk show was recently concluded and for the first time, Karan also gave away awards in few categories. Kirron Kher, Malaika Arora, Vir Das and Mallika Dua were part of the jury of awards.
In the promo of the jury episode, Vir Das said there is so much of ‘PINK’ in the sets of ‘Koffee With Karan’ that Taapsee tried to feature in it. Though he joked later he meant that it’s gonna get real. In reply to Vir’s tweet, Taapsee wrote, ‘Hahahahha nice one. Just that Taapsee still doesn’t qualify to be there. I am looking forward to seeing this episode. All you guys are hilarious.’
Followers of Taapse and others who noticed her tweet, appreciated her for taking a sensible dig at Karan Johar who is in the bad books of nepotism. In the season six of Koffee With Karan, star kids who are yet to make their debut were part but not the ones who delivered hits at consistent basis. Taapsee is an outsider and took time to get her first break in Bollywood. May be she felt like she was ignored and her tweet said so.
Is iSmart Shankar a Science Fiction Movie?
Puri Jagannadh is a director who redefined commercial action movie genre with films like “Pokiri” in Tollywood.
In his long career, he mostly stuck to two genres – mass action dramas and love stories. He is attempting something different this time.
The first look photos and the title of “iSmart Shankar” have made us believe that he is doing another action drama.
However, the movie that he is making with Ram is not typical mass movie. This one falls in the genre of science fiction.
Nidhhi Agerwal recently revealed that she is essaying the role of a scientist in the film.
Insiders say she does a mind scanning trick on Ram that leads to ‘double dimaak’ twist of the story. So, it is a bit of science fiction and a bit of mass movie.
Finally, Puri is attempting something novel.

Allu Arjun Puts Allu Aravind in a Spot
Producer Allu Aravind is in a big fix. He has too many headaches to deal with.
His production house Geetha Arts has signed up several directors in the hope to divert some projects to Allu Arjun, Varun Tej and Allu Sirish but Allu Arjun has spoiled the banner’s plans. He has put his dad Allu Aravind in a spot of bother.
Parasuram the director who delivered one of the all-time biggest hits to their banner last year with “Geetha Govindam” has been waiting to get Allu Arjun’s dates.
Soon after the release of “Geetha Govindam”, Parasuram wanted to move out of this production house and launch a film with Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja but Allu Aravind asked him to stay in their office promising him a film with Allu Arjun or any other big star.
But now, Allu Arjun has lined up next three films with other big directors – Trivikram, Sukumar and A R Murugadoss. In his scheme of things, there is no place for Parasuram.
Recently, Allu Aravind has asked Parasuram to go with Naga Chaitanya but the director is not interested to work with middle-range stars now. He still is demanding big stars for his next movie.
When Allu Aravind and Bunny Vaas have failed to convince their own star Allu Arjun to work with Parasuram, why would other big stars allot dates?
