Telugu cinemas superstar Mahesh Babu left for Goa with his wife Namrata Shirodkar and two children Gautam and Sitara on Thursday morning after releasing the first look of his new film titled “Maharshi”.When asked about the special activities planned in Goa for the special day, Mahesh said: “Nothing special as I will be shooting for ‘Maharshi’. I will just be with family and some close friends.”

Mahesh likes to be out of Hyderabad for his birthday, a day when fans and well-wishers drop in at his residence any time with their good wishes.”It is fans who make my birthday special. However, the volume of well-wishers gets overwhelming. So I like to be out of the country for most of my birthdays. However, of late I’ve been in Hyderabad for my birthdays as my son’s school is open and we can’t afford to let him miss classes for a birthday which in any case is like any other day.”

What’s the secret of his Peter Pan looks at 43?

He said: “Positive thinking, healthy eating, correct hours of sleep and a family to support you through all your dreams and nightmares.”One never sees Mahesh being anything but extremely proper in his public conduct. “One has to make sure one is doing the right things and making the right moves so that the people around are happy and comfortable. For a public figure setting the right example is not just a moral obligation, it is an ethical compulsion,” said Mahesh. At the stroke of midnight on Thursday as Mahesh’s birthday was ushered in, the poster of his new film “Maharshi” was released.

Srinivasa Kalyanam : Movie Review

Share

Makers of Shatamanam Bhavati now focus upon Indian traditional wedding and its importance. Entire second half of the film revolves around marriage arrangements and process of a Telugu wedding.

Story :

Srinivas (Nithin) comes from an orthodox joint family and Sridevi (Rashi) is the younger daughter of a business tycoon RK (Prakash Raj). They fall in love and Srinivas meets RK, who values time in money. RK agrees to the marriage on one agreement. Srinivas has to sign a pre-marital agreement according to the deal. In return, Srinivas asks RK’s presence in the wedding arrangements whenever it is needed. How RK gets to know the value of relations and greatness of wedding forms rest of the story.

Performances:

Nithin plays a soft spoken good ‘Ramudu manchi baludu’ character that has high doses of drama. He is impressive in the romantic scenes with Rashi Khanna. His performance in the final sequence filled with a lot of melodrama is noteworthy. There’s a lot of hype around Rashi’s character, but she plays a very regular character that has not much to write about. Prakash Raj has done similar characters in the past and it’s just cakewalk for the veteran. Jayasudha also does her usual stuff. Rajendra Prasad, Sitara, and Naresh are fine in their respective supporting roles.

Technicalities:

Vegesna Satish follows similar family drama template of Shatamanam Bhavati again. That film talked about the importance of taking care of parents in their old age and this one glorifies the traditional wedding. Besides impressive dialogue and a few melodramatic scenes that strike chord with the female audience, Srinivasa Kalyanam is a pretty ordinary film with routine setup and situations. Director doesn’t present it in a fresh way as it runs on a predictable note from start to finish.

Music by Mickey Meyer is good. A couple of songs stand out and the background score also is alright. Sameer Reddy’s camera captures the scenic beauty of Godavari districts in an impressive way. Dialogues are good in parts. Production values are decent.

Thumbs Up:

Nithin’s performance

Emotions

Dialogues

Thumbs Down:

Routine characters

Predictable conflict

Boring first half

Analysis:

Srinivasa Kalyanam is a film strictly targeted at the audience who love to watch tear jerking television soaps. The main conflict of the film comes to the fore only at the intermission point and the solution for it seems very predictable that it hardly engages the audience. First half of the film is extremely tedious with an ordinary love story between the lead pair and a few outdated jokes.

The film looks like a forced attempt to preach the greatness of Indian weddings and culture. Second half is totally dedicated to the process of pre wedding and the emotions that the main characters go through in the meantime. Climax is emotional but is very predictable. There are a few relatable scenes and dialogue that will directly connect with the contemporary audience. Satires on people sending wedding invitations on whatsapp and attending the weddings just for the sake of ‘attendance’ are striking.

Apart from dashes of humor here and there, Srinivasa Kalyanam is very dramatic and unrealistic at times. It gets preachy at times with the actors breaking into unending monologues. This may appeal to melodrama lovers but will make the entertainment seeking audience cringe in their seats. Youth will surely feel exhausted with the film offering literally zero entertainment in the second hour.

The film is like watching a wedding video in the second half. Most of the emotional scenes are artificial and fake that they couldn’t create any impact. Good performances and impressive dialogue are the only saving grace for this otherwise routine melodramatic wedding saga. The commercial outcome will totally depend upon how much the female audience likes it.

Verdict: Wedding CD!

KCR policy: Anti-Cong means pro-BJP!

Share

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to believe in the theory that enemy’s enemy is a friend, though the latter is also an enemy locally. The TRS has decided to support Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh of the Janata Dal (U) in the Rajya Sabha deputy chairman elections to be held on Thursday.

The reasoning given by the TRS chief while speaking to his party’s Rajya Sabha MPs is that they cannot vote for the Congress candidate, because the TRS treats the Congress as its enemy and is fighting against it in the elections in Telangana.Defending his stand further, KCR reportedly told the party MPs that it is the JD (U) candidate and not the BJP candidate who is contesting the elections.

Moreover, JD (U) leader and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar personally called him seeking support to his party candidate Harivansh Narayan.Like YSR Congress party, the TRS, too, could have abstained from polling in the RS deputy chairman elections, if it treats the BJP too as its enemy. But by deciding to support the NDA candidate, KCR has clearly established that he would embrace anybody, who opposes the Congress party.

Since the BJP is opposing the Congress, he would support the BJP or NDA candidate, notwithstanding the fact that the BJP is also his rival in the Telangana.By adopting this stand, KCR has hit two birds at one shot. He has displayed his anti-Congress stand and the same time, sent a message to the people that the BJP is not a force in Telangana and he could manage the Centre with his lobbying power!

The death of doyen of Tamil Nadu politics and former chief minister M Karunanidhi on Tuesday night brought to the fore an interesting debate in the social media circles in Andhra Pradesh, especially among the fan clubs of power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan.Following the death of the founder-president of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), all the media obviously wrote obituary stories on him, including his family background.

Though Tamilians are aware of his family secrets, the rest of the India was not very familiar to the fact that Karunanidhi had three wives. The first wife is no more, the second wife is suffering from Alzheimer disease and third wife is still active. Now the question doing rounds in the social media circles is why nobody had questioned Karunanidhi for having three wives, though polygamy is a crime as per the law.

Moreover, he had not divorced the first wife before marrying the second woman and did not the same with regard to third wife.“Everybody knows even senior actor Gemini Ganeshan had three wives including Savithri. But, nobody had any objection to it. On the other hand, he was projected as a lover boy,” a netizen pointed out.But when power star Pawan Kalyan married three women, but only after following the laws of the land, he is under attack.

“He married the second woman only after divorcing the first wife. He did the same with Renu Desai before marrying the Russian wife.Like Karunanidhi, he is also a film personality who entered politics. Why didn’t you question Karunanidhi, and why people are finding fault with Pawan for three marriages?” he asked.

Dalai Lama controversial comments on India-Pak

Share

The Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama has sparked a fresh controversy on Wednesday by wading into what is really a significant political decision of history- the separation of India and Pakistan.

The Tibetan spiritual Guru said, ”India and Pakistan would have remained undivided if Muhammad Ali Jinnah was made the first Prime Minister of this country instead of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.” He further added: ‘even Mahatma Gandhi was interested to make Jinnah a Prime Minister, but Pandit Nehru who’d self-centered attitude denied to it.,

Dalai Lama, who delivered a keynote address to the MBA students at Goa Institute of Management, touched this sensitive aspect while replying to a query of a student who asked him: ‘how one can avoid taking wrong decisions!?”

With his statement, Dalai Lama wanted to tell that it’s ok to make mistakes because even a very experienced leader like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru sometimes made mistakes. ”So, take responsibility on your shoulders. Analyze, ask opinion and take a final call,” he answered to the student.
