It’s been a year Shruti Haasan has had a release on big screen. Her last release in South is Katamarayudu. She didn’t have any release after. While there were also speculations about her relationship with London-based theatre artiste Michael Corsale, there is a big break career-wise. However, after a long gap, she is back. Shruti recently walked the ramp for a popular Fashion Week in Mumbai where she has revealed her plans and reasoned for the long break.

According to Shruti Haasan, it’s conscious decision to take a year-long break to reassess herself. Meanwhile, Shruti is now working for a Hindi as well as a Tamil movie and is foraying into production in a partnership with her mother Sarika. Apart from this, Shruti is also keen to getting back into music full time.”I am producing films and getting back into music full time. So, I needed to step back and kind of reorganize things. I believe it is important for an artiste to take some time off to be with themselves,” Shruti shared her plans.

“I have been in films, but I always feel like an outsider. I think that’s my strength and my weakness. But I like to keep it to myself and do my job. I am not someone to look back and think about it,” Shruti said.So, many are wondering what Shruti has up her sleeve. By stating that she is getting back to music full time and also into production, does she mean she is quitting acting? Certainly, it will be a shocking news for all her fans in South.

Tollywood is gearing up to see some dad-son fights at the box office, as most recently we have seen the release of Megastar and his sons (nephews) films releasing around the same time. Then we have witness Nag and his sons gearing to box office though with huge gaps. But one day, we would surely see a dad-son fight.

Before that, there is a chance of witnessing a dad-daughter fight too. No, it’s not Nagababu and Niharika’s films. Actually senior hero Rajasekhar showcased that he’s not like typical Telugu star dads who would restrict their daughters from becoming silver screen sensations. His two daughters, Sivani and Sivathmika are readying to storm the box office.

While Sivani will be seen in 2 States Telugu remake where she got paired with Adivi Sesh, Sivathmika will be the lead girl of Dorasani movie that has Vijay Devarkonda’s brother Anand in the lead. Both are playing character-driven roles with a touch of glamour. And then, Rajasekhar is getting ready to rock with Kalki being directed by Prashant Varma of Awe fame.

Looks like dad and his daughters might hit the silver screen around the same time as the shootings of these films have started pretty recently. Let’s see how it goes!!

1) Geetha Govindam: As expected, Geetha Govindam crossed Rs. 50 crore share mark at the box office in its second weekend.

It is still going great guns and is likely to add another Rs. 10 crore share to its overall tally by the end of its theatrical run.Even new releases struggled to find audience as Geetha Govindam rampage continued for another weekend.

2) Neevevaro: This thriller featuring Aadhi Pinishetty and Taapsee looked promising prior to release. However, the film turned out to be a predictable and boring thriller that failed to strike a chord with the target audience.

It had a very pretty ordinary first weekend and recovery looks unlikely unless a miracle happens.

3) Aatagallu: Nara Rohit’s flopathon continued with Aatagallu that has been rejected outright on its first day itself.

Even Jagapathi Babu’s presence couldn’t help the film to find audience in its first weekend.

4) Goodachari: Goodachari is still running in A centers, but it is largely affected by Geetha Govindam.

It couldn’t add much to its collections after the release of Geetha Govindam. Nevertheless, it is a super hit for its budget.

5) Lakshmi: This dance film featuring Prabhu Deva generated better word of mouth compared to other Friday releases, but lack of proper publicity marred its chances of earning decent collections.

It’s raining biopics in Tollywood. After Savithri’s biopic ‘Mahanati’, all eyes are on the upcoming biopics like Sye Raa, NTR, Kapil Dev, Pullela Gopichand and Jayalalithaa, all of them being scheduled for release in 2019.And now, yet another biopic has been announced in Tollywood and it’s on the glorious life and stardom of Superstar Krishna. The veteran star’s son-in-law and popular actor Sudheer Babu announced a biopic on his father-in-law’s life.

Speaking at a promotional event for his upcoming film ‘Nannu Dochukunduvate’ in Vizag yesterday, Sudheer Babu said that fans will get to know about the full details regarding Krishna’s biopic very soon. It looks like Sudheer himself is going to produce the biopic under his home banner.

However, it’s still unclear whether Mahesh Babu will be part of his father’s biopic in any capacity. Meanwhile, Sudheer Babu himself will be essaying Pullela Gopichand’s role in the international badminton champ’s biopic.

Director Sreenu Vaitla is reeling under immense pressure pertaining to his ongoing film with Ravi Teja, Amar Akbar Anthony. The recently released pre-look poster had got lukewarm response that is worrying even the film’s producers who have now cut the bugdgets for the film keeping the business into consideration.

Besides Vaitla’s poor form and bad track record, the performance of Ravi Teja’s Nela Ticket has a huge effect on the film’s business. Since Ravi Teja’s market also took nosedive after Nela Ticket, now producers want to play it safe. However, it’s easier said than done. Even Anu Emmanuel’s jinx tag is becoming worry. Amidst this, there’s a lot of pressure on Vaitla to deliver a guarantee hit film which is a difficult task.

Mega fans expected the first look of Ram Charan from his new film under direction of Boyapati Srinu for the 63rd birthday of Megastar Chiranjeevi. But, Charan who is the producer of Chiru’s next film has only highlighted ‘Sye Raa’ by releasing its first teaser.

Mega Powerstar clearly did not wanted to gain the limelight for his next film on his father’s birthday. But, fans of Mega family are little disappointed to miss the first look of Charan, who brought out the teaser of Sye Raa which has ample time to light the screens. So, fans are now looking forward to the first look of Ram Charan on Babai Pawan Kalyan’s birthday – Sept 2nd.

After almost 9 years of gap, the King of Comedy Brahmanandam is all set to make his comeback to the small screen. Brahmi will be hosting a new stand-up comedy show named ‘The Great Telugu Laughter Challenge’.

The Great Telugu Laughter Challenge is inspired by the hit Hindi comedy show ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’. The Telugu version will be aired on MAA TV soon. Needless to say that all eyes will be on how Brahmi will rule the idiot box on his comeback stint.

On the other hand, the big question on everyone’s minds is “Will Brahmi bring new talent to Tollywood?” Already, the hit Telugu comedy show ‘Jabardasth’ has introduced many talented young comedians who went on to become the most sought after comedians in Tollywood. Can Brahmanandam and his show repeat the same?

Vijay Deverakonda starrer “Geetha Govindam” did also perform on strong note last weekend.It grossed nearly 300k dollars in three days and took its total cumulative gross to $2.1 million.

The film now stands at ninth place at all-time top Telugu hits. It crossed the lifetime gross of “Fidaa”.

It has to be seen how much more would “Geetha Govindam” collect. Rough estimate is that it might come near the life-time gross of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s “Khaidi No 150”.

After “Mahanati”, this is massive blockbuster among mid-range movies at USA box-office.

With two back-to-back duds, Dil Raju’s image has had a dent. He was overconfident about his movies but his films were out right rejected by the audiences.Flops are part and parcel of the game, but the colossal failure of “Srinivasa Kalyanam” has put pressure on Dil Raju and his team.

He will now be chalking out strategies on his own. According to sources, he will double check his next film that stars Ram in the lead role.Titled “Hello Guru Prema Kosame”, the film is scheduled for October 18th release as Dassera special.Incidentally, the producer now feels that there is no one in his team who can gauge the pulse of the audience like himself.

If “Hello Guru Prema Kosame” also flops, his image as top producer will go down further. Dil Raju is now worried about “Hello Guru” more than anything else.If he is not satisfied with the output, there are chances that the film might be postponed. Even the lead pair Ram and Anupama need a hit as their earlier films were flops.

One of the biggest disasters of Mahesh’s career is Spyder. Well, goes without saying, even one buyer of the film hasn’t recovered from the losses as yet. But the film has once again made headlines. This time, the film will be streamed on Netflix.

Of late, it has become common for Telugu films to be aired on Amazon Prime and Hot Star. So, the news per se is no big deal.However, what makes it big news is the fact that the film will be the first Telugu film to be streamed by world’s leading platform Netflix. Starting tomorrow, the film will be available on Netflix.

However, the fact remains that the film was not only a huge disaster in theatres, but also on television.When aired on popular channels, it got the lowest ratings, which is not very surprising. So, the channel has been thinking twice about doing a repeat telecast.

Now that it will be aired on Netflix, if it clicks, then it will be huge news for Mahesh fans.
