Venkatesh & Rana Together in ‘LTTE’?

Share

Plans for a Daggubati family multistarrer have been underway for a long time now. The very close they came to sign a film together was for Anil Ravipudi’s “F2”. Varun Tej bagged the role in the end. According to the latest buzz, Rana and Venky have finally given their green signal to work together, not for a feature film but a web series based on a sensational issue.

Sometime ago, a film was announced based on the events surrounding former PM Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination. Titled, ‘Asphota – The Human Bomb’, it was supposed to have Rana playing the lead role.

However, the latest reports suggest that both Rana and director AMR Ramesh have, after elaborate discussions, decided to convert the story into a web series and not a feature film. They felt that the story can’t be narrated in two hours and that it needs more screen time to narrate the events convincingly. Hence the decision has been taken to make it into a web series instead.

Rana is on board for sure, and he is said to be trying to convince Venkatesh to essay a crucial role in the web series. The very cautious senior hero is yet to give his nod but he is said to be interested in the subject, the idea of jumping into web series bandwagon and to collaborate with Rana.

The web series has reportedly been titled, ‘LTTE’.

Trivikram Behind Agnyaathavaasi Trailer Delay

Share

Initially, fans have expected the trailer of Agnyaathavaasi release along with the film’s audio album as part of the tradition. But against the convention, the makers decided to release the trailer on Dec 26. Even that has been postponed pouring cold water on the hopes of all die-hard fans of Pawan.

However, technical reasons are not behind the delay in the trailer. It is learnt that the delay is due to strategical reason.

Since the trailer reveals the film’s plot, director Trivikram doesn’t want the trailer to be out much earlier as it may lead to speculations on the film’s story. Trivikram wants to unveil the trailer only a few days before the film’s release. By this, he wants the people to anticipate more for the trailer – delaying the release of a product is a marketing strategy used by experts, especially when the product is in high demand, in order to tease the customers more.

At the same time, Trivikram wants to make more noise with trailer days ahead of the release. Until then, he has kept enough surprises in his hand such as Kodaka Koteswara Rao song.

Meanwhile, we hear that the trailer will boast Trivikram’s trademark and witty one-liners that will make PK’s fans go berserk. As this is PK’s landmark 25th film, Trivikram is not taking any chances and is leaving no stone unturned to churn out a blockbuster.

Let’s see what is in store for Pawan-Trivikram combo.

Fathima Medical Students Row: Only Tweets from Pawan?

Share

When the beleaguered students of Fathima Institute of Medical Sciences (FIMS) had met Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan some ten days ago and pleaded the actor-politician’s support for them, Pawan has responded positively and empathized with the problems facing by over 100 students whose careers have been hanging in balance.

Going into details, the students have been distressed as their admissions had been in limbo after the recognition for their college FIMS in Kadapa was cancelled. NTR University of Health Sciences had refused to permit 100 students of FIMS to attend even annual exam on the grounds that the college made the admissions against the norms of the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Since the careers of as many as 100 students and the lives of their families are at stake, everyone expected Pawan to take up the cause seriously and even sit on agitation if it is needed. However, surprisingly, Pawan has been occupied with his filmy work such as audio launch of Agnyaathavaasi, recording of the film’s song Kodaka Koteswara Rao and couldn’t take it up.

Finally, Pawan has tweeted today and urged the AP State government to provide relief to students by resolving the issue on war-foot manner. This has come as shocker to many. Even after the intervention of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas, the issue couldn’t get the ideal solution as the decision lies with the Union Government and MCI.

But certainly, students who expected that Pawan would stood by them and make their voice stronger by drawing the attention of Centre seems to have disappointed that PK just confined to tweets.

Tollywood 2017: Top 10 Hits Of The Year

Share

This is by far the most successful year for Telugu cinema in terms of box office returns. Thanks to Baahubali 2: The Conclusion that has set new records in India and overseas to become the biggest ever hit in the history.

There are several other successful films throughout the year but the gap between them and Baahubali is humongous.

Here are the top 10 hits of the year.

1) Baahubali 2: There are no words to describe the success of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. It is an epic blockbuster that has set the bar high and far above.

It will be near impossible for any film in the near future to topple Baahubali from the top seat. Even Rajamouli will need something exceptional to repeat the feat.

2) Khaidi No. 150: The film marked the comeback of the emperor of the Tollywood. Megastar Chiranjeevi made a stunning comeback with Khaidi No. 150 that has collected more than Rs. 100 crore distributor share.

It is the only film to achieve this feat beside Baahubali films shows the strength and stamina of Megastar at the box office.

3) Fidaa: Sekhar Kammula’s magic has created waves at the ticket window as Fidaa turned out to be one of the biggest hits in terms of Return on investment.

The film’s collections are on par with many big ticket films in the Nizam and overseas territories.

The director of Happy Days has made a comeback of sorts with Fidaa in his typical style. The film earned three times its production cost from theatricals itself.

4) Gautamiputra Satakarni: Balakrishna’s hundredth film directed by Krish has achieved hit status by making the most of Sankranthi season.

Although its collections are exactly half of Khaidi No. 150’s numbers, it made the landmark film a memorable one for the veteran Nandamuri star.

5) Shatamanam Bhavati: It is not a mean feat to clash with the heavyweights like K150 and GPSK and come out as a winner.

Shatamanam Bhavati that released for Sankranthi has once again proved that it is the best season for family dramas.

The film is a huge blockbuster in Telugu states and did okay in overseas.

6) Nenu Local: Dil Raju took the gamble by releasing another film within three weeks when Shatamanam Bhavati is still minting shares.

Nenu Local had hit the bull’s eye and registered best ever numbers for a Nani starrer. It is a super hit all over giving back to back hits for Dil Raju at the beginning of the year.

7) Ninnu Kori: Nani’s next release of the year Ninnu Kori also turned out to be a runaway super hit.

The film isn’t an entertainer like Nenu Local, but did superb business thus boosting the stardom of Nani, which is working wonders for MCA at the moment.

8) Arjun Reddy: Arjun Reddy is the biggest hit of the year in terms of return on investment. The film was made with a budget of under Rs. 5 crore and collected more than five times of its production cost from the theatrical shares.

The film has fetched superb deals from other rights as well.

9) Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam: It is the biggest grosser in Chaitanya’s career as a solo hero. The film was expected to put Chay in the next league, but all Nagarjuna could manage to achieve is the highest grossing movie in his son’s career.

10) Mahanubhavudu: Sharwanand has scored another hit in the same year with the help of Maruthi brand of ‘clean’ entertainment.

It is the one of the very few films that was successful in the second half of the year. Mahanubhavudu came out as the winner in Dussehra clash.

Nene Raju Nene Mantri, Guru, Ghazi and Anando Brahma were among other successful films of the year. Raja The Great is an above average fare in terms of box office returns. MCA that released for Christmas is likely to become a hit in full run.

Films like Jai Lava Kusa, Katamarayudu and DJ were among top grossing movies, but couldn’t recover the huge investment of buyers and ended up as failures.

Charan and Upasana’s Special Celebrations

Share

Ram Charan and his wife Upasana have been married for five years but they continue to bond like a newly-wed couple, setting major relationship goals for other T town couples.

Well, at least that’s the impression one gets when one sees how Upasana and Charan take off on holidays together, throw family get-togethers and visit temples.

Although they had a love marriage, it is only after marriage that Ram Charan and Upasana have been spending a lot of time together in public space and expressing their love and affection on social media.

Upasana has been updating private photos of Charan regularly. And now Ram Charan has taken a cue from his wife and is doing the same.

It is an open secret that Upasana handles all business affairs of Ram Charan and she has also hired a social media PR team for Charan.

There was a time when Ram Charan was known as a star with lots of attitude. But now, he is a changed man! Upasana is said to have changed him to be friendly with everyone.

Anushka Named PETA’s Person Of The Year

Share

Mumbai: Newly-wed actress Anushka Sharma has been named PETA’s Person of the Year by animal rights organisation People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

Known for movies like “PK”, “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” and “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, Anushka is a vegetarian, has nabbed the title for helping to protect dogs from fireworks to advocating for horses who are forced to pull carriages in Mumbai.

“Anushka Sharma is a proud animal rights proponent whose kindness and initiative know no bounds,” PETA Associate Director Sachin Bangera said in a statement.

“PETA is calling on everyone to follow her lead by eating healthy plant-based meals, helping community animals by speaking up when they are suffering, and always keeping an eye out for new ways to help animals,” Bangera added.

Anushka, who married cricket star Virat Kohli earlier this month, was in 2015 named PETA’s Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity.

Some of her recent efforts to protect animals include launching her cruelty-free NUSH clothing line, visiting an animal shelter and promoting its work on her social media platforms, launching a campaign called PAWsitive to raise awareness of the suffering fireworks cause to animals, and taking to Twitter to demand a ban on cruel carriage rides in Mumbai.

She also has an adopted dog named Dude.

Hello Day 5: Takes Nosedive

Share

Akhil Akkineni’s “Hello” has taken a nosedive on its first weekday (Tuesday) following a below par extended holiday weekend. The Akkineni hero’s film witnessed almost 65 percent drop in collections compared to Monday’s collections.

Adding the mere 0.80 Cr distributor share collected on Tuesday, the five days total share from the Telugu states amounts to 9.23 Cr, with a gross of over 17.5 Cr. The worldwide gross is 26 Cr with a share of over 14 Cr.

The numbers would have been more than decent for a mid-range hero’s film, but considering that Hello is the film starring Akkineni family’s scion, the figures are embarrassingly low. After taking a poor opening on Day 1, which was shocking enough, Hello couldn’t capitalize on the positive reviews and encouraging word of mouth, giving further shock to everyone involved with the film and Akkineni fans. And, the Tuesday collections are further appalling, say trade reports.

Area-wise break-up of share:

Nizam – 3,60,00,000
Ceded – 1,55,00,000
Nellore – 32,00,000
Guntur – 94,00,000
Krishna – 77,00,000
West – 43,00,000
East – 59,00,000
Uttharandhra – 1,03,00,000

Total 5 days AP & TS share – 9.23 cr (Gross – 17.5 Cr)

Total 5 days Worldwide share – 14 Cr (Gross – 26 cr)

Considering that the film’s theatrical rights were valued at around 33 Cr, around 60 percent recovery yet to be done, Hello must not just sustain at box office but pick up in order to go anywhere near attaining break even status.

In Talk: Nani And Sai Pallavi’s Removed Scene

Share

Dil Raju and Nani’s “MCA” is doing great at theatres no matter what critics said about the film. Irrespective of the simple content, craze for Nani and Sai Pallavi proved quite sensational for the movie as it has already minted 23+ crores share from the box office.

And this film has earlier stuck with some rumours like some scenes of heroine Sai Pallavi are being chopped out. Though the production house laughed at such rumours, recently the rumours have surfaced again. This is because an unused scene of the film is released by makers, which was left out at the editing table.

In that particular scene, actually Nani is seen trying to pacify Sai Pallavi and the latter will not get appeased. Later, in the end, she gives a crazy expression with her whistle as the hero walks out. Earlier rumours have come that in a scene where Sai Pallavi gave a brilliant expression that was removed. Is that this particular scene that came out in rumours back then?

Anyway, whatever the short presence of Sai Pallavi inside the film, actually she did her magic yet again, as she uttered the line ‘Nani garu’, in such cute way.

Shocking Backdrop For Kodaka Koteswara Rao

Share

‘Kodaka Koteswara Rao’ is the latest sensation Tollywood is talking about as Pawan Kalyan has come up with the teaser of this teasing song from Agnyaathavaasi. And then, there is an interesting revelation about it.

Going by the song, where Pawan himself crooned, one feels that this song is a mass number coupled with some teenmaar dances. At the same time, earlier in Attarintiki Daredi, we have Katamarayuda song going in similar massy look though it happens in a house. However, that is not the case with Kodaka Koteswara Rao song.

A source from the film shares that this song will have a Software Office backdrop. At the desk, Pawan Kalyan will be teasing his boss-like employee (reportedly portrayed by Raghu Babu). In that office space, the song will be highlighted everyday work and how employees face pressure from this boss. Once the song releases, we will come to know how that song actually looks and fares.

Directed by Trivikram, Agnyaathavaasi is the 25th film of Pawan Kalyan which features Keerthi Suresh and Anu Emmanuel as the leading ladies. Music composed by Anirudh has already become a sensation for this film.
