We have seen Rajamouli with a fully grown beard all during the shooting of his movie Baahubali 1 and Baahubali 2 as well. Of the three direct Telugu films that competed at box office for Sankranthi festival, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s “Jai Simha” has emerged as a clear winner. Holding well during the weekdays too, the film posted an impressive first week numbers, grossed over 43 Cr at worldwide box office.

According to reliable trade reports, Jai Simha collected a share of 20.55 Cr from the Telugu states and 23.5 Cr at worldwide box office. Considering the safe pre-release business, the film has already broken even in a few areas and is likely to become a profitable venture in all the remaining areas in a few more days.

As no notable film has released this week, Jai Simha has another week to make merry at box office, especially in B,C centres.

National award winning child actress turned young heroine Shweta Basu Prasad had got a dream debut in Tollywood with the super hit film, ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’. The then 18-year-old actress however was too young to plan her career carefully. She took a few wrong steps, which almost forced her out of industry.

Shweta however hasn’t lost all hopes, and kept herself busy by enrolling herself in noted filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s production house. Her perseverance has now brought a meaty character in a potential film.

The 27-year-old actress has recently disclosed that she has signed the new Bollywood film, ‘The Tashkent Files’, which revolves around the mysterious death of freedom fighter and the Second Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri. Shweta will essay the role of a rookie journalist who investigates the mystery of Shastri’s death.

The Tashkent Files is India’s first crowd-sourced thriller. The film’s director, Vivek Agnihotri has stated that his film is the most researched work on Shastri and that it is the most apolitical film about a political leader. The gripping thriller also stars veterans Naseeruddin Shah and Mithun Chakraborty in key roles.

Shweta Basu is confident that her role of an ambitious scribe will win her more offers in B-town.

Nearly three years ago, Indian cricket fans went mad on social media when Russian Tennis star Maria Sharapova said she didn’t know who Indian ‘Cricket God’ Sachin Tendulkar was. A similar incident has repeated now, but this time, Sachin has failed to recognize South star hero, Chiyaan Vikram, who is a significant pan-India star as well.

Vikram, who is currently promoting his latest film ‘Sketch’, has in an interview revealed how he was disappointed when Sachin didn’t recognize him. Director Govind Lalam who directed horror-film Maya Mall that released last year is now ready with a political subject that suits Pawan Kalyan. The director already got the title “Charitra” registered for Powerstar with the caption “Nissambdam Veedi Aayudham”.

We hear that Jai Simha producer C Kalyan is backing this project and he already took Pawan Kalyan’s appointment for story narration. If all goes well, as Pawan liked the basic premise of the story, he may star in “Charitra” as well. As this top hero has the habit of working with the not-so-popular directors from the start of his career, who knows, he may okay this director.

Comedian Srinivas Reddy reached to top league actors in comedy in very short time with his impeccable timing and dialogue delivery. But he made some demeaning and derogatory comments two years back, on people who criticized Trivikram and A Aa for not giving due credit to Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani’s original Meena, from which Trivikram lifted the whole plot. Apart from negative talk and poor plot criticism, the plagiarism allegations too turned strong enough to trouble the star director. Though there were many comments earlier on Trivikram for lifting scenes and ideas from many films across the world, this is first ever time he is confronted by the original maker.

French film director Jerome Salle today threatens to sue Agnyaathavaasi makers for lofting scenes and plot from his French original Largo Winch. But here, many film buffs are awaiting a comment from star comedian!

Now, many critics who ridiculed Agnyaathavaasi for its utter poor content and making are waiting for Srinivasa Reddy to comment again, as Trivikram too went in exile along with Pawan Kalyan after the plagiarism allegations hit the film.
