‘Sharing Of Taxes By Central Government Is Discriminatory’

Share

Tamil and Hindi movie actor Kamal Haasan has said he feels that the sharing of taxes by the central government is discriminatory and if all the southern states celebrate Dravidianism then the discrimination may not be there.

In his weekly column in Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan, the actor said Maharashtra ranks at the top in contributing tax revenue and is followed by Tamil Nadu.He said there is a complaint that the central government collects taxes from these states and shares more with other states.

“It will be like that in a joint family. The earnings of the elder brother will be shared with his unemployed brothers. But one should not think that the earning elder brother is a fool. He should not be starved of food,” Haasan said.Haasan said he feels that the sharing of the taxes amongst the states by the central government is not in the right proportion.

He said if Dravidianism is celebrated across the southern states, then this partiality in sharing of taxes will not happen and one can be united in talking to the central government. The actor said the language and the love for language, self respect should continue as it is now and they should not be changed.

Haasan who had announced his political plunge sometime back, also said he would start his state tour from Ramanathapuram district — around 510 km from here — on February 21. He will also announce the name of his political party.Haasan said he would start his tour from former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s residence in Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram district.

Katthi Mahesh Sending Lewd Messages to Girls?

Share

The controversial critic Katthi Mahesh who is in the news after his acerbic comments against Powerstar Pawan Kalyan has now turned back foot when a producer exposed his shady behaviour.

Ramky, a small-time producer, today revealed that Katthi Mahesh sent many SMS’s to girls who came for auditioning for his short films asking them to sleep with him.Reacting to this, Katthi agreed that he sent messages to women but he never forced any of them to sleep with him.

“If they like me and my proposal, they would come. It is consensual sex. What is wrong on that,” he defended.Strangely, he questioned Pawan Kalyan to reveal the relationship that he is having with actress Poonam Kaur.

Pawan Kalyan having any relationship with Poonam Kaur is purely a personal matter between them. Yet, Katthi had guts to accuse and he says he has not committed any wrong by sending messages to the girls who came for audition.

His double-standards are also clearly exposed. All these days, he has been saying that Pawan Kalyan didn’t warn his fans when they are harassing him.

When a TV anchor showed Pawan Kalyan’s tweet in October in which the actor asked his fans not to react to anyone if someone criticizes him and he clearly asked not to respond to any person, Katthi Mahesh responded that he had not seen Powerstar’s tweet.

Screen Timing Does Not Matter To Me: Actress

Share

Mumbai: Actress Sonam Kapoor, who plays a pivotal role in the Akshay Kumar starrer “Pad Man”, says if the character is substantial, she does not mind playing a small yet important role in a movie. It was the same case in “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”.

After her performance in “Neerja” which not only received positive reviews, but also got Sonam a special mention at the National Awards, has her criteria for choosing a film changed?

Sonam told IANS: “It is the combination of the story and my character; screen timing does not matter to me, honestly. One does not have to be in every single frame of the film to create an impact of the character. If my part is well-crafted, even with three scenes, my character can make a major impact on the story. And that’s what matters.”

Sonam says she is primarily interested in working with good directors because filmmaking is a collaborative art where working with the right team brings the best of every creative individual. So, who are the director she wants to work with?

“There are actually few directors that I would love to work with again, like R. Balki, Rajkumar Hirani, Ram Madhvani. I loved working with them. That apart, I want to work with Shoojit Sircar, Vishal Bhardwaj and Shimit Amin among others,” she said.

Despite her film choices, the tag of ‘fashionista’ never goes away from her image. But she says she will always remain unapologetic about it.

“I love wearing make-up and beautiful clothes. I think there is nothing wrong with it. If someone judges me based on that, it is his problem not mine.

“Seriously, I think when it comes to films, in last few of them, all my directors wanted me not to wear make-up because they think I have very good skin. That is why the no make-up looks. However, I do things in real life that I cannot get a chance to do on-screen. So yes, in public events, parties I flaunt good clothes,” said the actress, who has featured in movies like “Raanjhanaa”, “Khoobsurat” and “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”.

While Sonam’s forthcoming release is “Pad Man”, hitting the screens on January 25, later in the year she will be seen in “Veere Di Wedding” which will come out on June 1.

Currently on an official tour to Japan, KTR is busy visiting places and meeting investors in the island nation. During this tour, he went to the small town of Hamamatsu and visited Suzuki museum there. Guess what shocked him? It is nothing but the photo of Megastar Chiranjeevi at the place.

Two Vicious Videos: Pawan Hater Vs Pawan Fans

Share

What is exactly happening in Telugu states is a thing to worry if not controlled at the root level. The way fans of movies and movie stars are behaving these days is posing a serious threat to the way society will transform in the coming age.

In an undated video being shared by people on social media, a cinema goer, a teenager probably, is seen splitting on the poster of Agnyaathavaasi and hitting on Pawan’s face with a chappal. His sole intention is to convey that Pawan disappointed him with the film though his way of expressing it was uncalled for. And this Pawan hater seemed to be from a theatre in Telangana if we have to go by his slang.

As this video began doing rounds on Whatsapp, few fans of the actor caught this teenager and made him remove his clothes before beating him up. Also, they made another video of the teen, forcing him to tender an apology for beating Pawan’s poster with a chappal and spitting on it. This is nothing sort of what the likes of Karni Sena and others are doing out there up north.

The behaviour of the fan and this fan group is wrong in all spirits and both of them should be taught how to behave with others and how to express one’s opinions. And now, these videos are likely to give food to those critics of Pawan Kalyan who are demanding him to exercise a control over his fans for a long time.

Whether Pawan responds or not, probably some media folks and authorities should form a group to teach these ‘fans’ how to actually behave. Also, it will be good if Pawan speaks to both of them, the fan and that fan group, isn’t it?

Official: One Film Old Heroine For Charan

Share

She’s neither a newsmaker nor a sexy sensation until Superstar Mahesh signed her for “Bharat Anu Nenu”. And once you make an entry into Tollywood through such film, definitely it is going to unfurl a red carpet like the way it happened for Kriti Sanon earlier.

A relative of former heroine and also former Miss India, Juhi Chawla, bubbly girl Kiara Advani made her debut in Bollywood four years ago. While she has done only three films and didn’t get the acclaimed success, she is waiting her turn to prove her mettle down south.

First entry into the South films is happening through Mahesh’s upcoming “Bharat Anu Nenu” that is being directed by Koratala Siva. Much before she actually wrapped her part in the movie, now it is officially confirmed that she’s onboard for Ram Charan’s next.

To be directed by Boyapati Sreenu, the makers earlier considered Anu Emmanuel as the main lead but finally, the opportunity landed in Kiara’s lap. If this one-film-old (in Telugu) beauty impresses Telugu audiences then there will be no looking back. Let’s see how it goes.

Hyd Film Studio’s Multiplex Dreams Shattered!!

Share

In Hyderabad, we have many film studios that provide various facilities to filmmakers from production to post-production facilities. Back then, vacant and barren lands are giving to these studio owners at a nominal price by the government and after decades market values of those lands shot up abnormally.

While some studios are still providing services to the film industry, some owners actually sold their lands to third parties (which is against the rule) and developed them into amusement centres already. Taking a cue from such people, even a popular studio wanted to build a multiplex in the vast space inside their studio.

The proposal to build a multi-purpose entertainment centre was discussed for months with various investors and finally, they have made an architect came up with a design as well. However, in the end, the studio owners received a dire shock from bureaucrats.

Reports are being heard in Film Nagar that the authorities and legal advisors have informed the studio owners that either they should run the film-industry related service or should give back the land to the government, but will not be able to construct an entertainment hub with a multiplex there. That way the dreams of the studio to come up with a multiplex is shattered to the fullest.

Those in the political circles are actually clueless about this development, otherwise, the issue would have become headlines on TV by now.

Prabhas Is Not My Brother – Anushka

Share

Ever since Billa movie starring Young Rebel Star Prabhas and Sweety Anushka Shetty came out, rumours have come out that the duo is seeing each other. After Mirchi, the rumours increased even more and died off later. But their onscreen sizzling chemistry in the epic series of Baahubali rekindled the fire.

Outstanding performance by Prabhas and Anushka as Baahubali and Devasena has stunned the audience. North Indian fans kept stating that the duo look fabulous together and they should get married. As Prabhas is the most-eligible bachelor of Tollywood and Anushka is the most-eligible bachelorette, fans wish that two of them should tie the knot soon.

Later news has erupted that both Prabhas and Anushka exchanged most expensive gifts on their birthdays which made the fans go ‘Aww’. Despite her fierce look with a bruised body in the poster of her upcoming movie Bhaagamathie, Prabhas commented that she is a ‘Sweety’ and fans lauded that they are giving serious relationship goals. However, when the engagement rumour broke out, Prabhas has denied them and said that Anushka is just a good friend of him.

Now, Anushka took her turn and clarified her relationship with co-star Prabhas. “People often ask me about my marriage. Well, I stopped thinking about marriage. You guys can search a groom for me. And then, Prabhas is just a good friend of mine. But I can’t call him my brother. We don’t consider all of our male friends as our brothers, right?”.

As the Baahubali pair put an end to rumours, fans who are rooting for Prabhas and Anushka are somewhat disappointed.

Supreme Court Stands By Deepika Padukone

Share

Censoring and release of “Padmavati” took a gradual beating and the film has to postpone from December 1st, 2017 to January 25th, 2018 owing to the death threats and warnings. At a time when Sanjay Leela Bhansali is gearing up for a release, this Deepika Padukone starrer got another shock.

In the form of states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Haryana, Padmavati received a shocker even after the name of the film is changed to “Padmavat”. These states have banned the release of the film in the name of not to hurt the sentiments of Rajput caste people. Without even watching the movie and even after Censor Board gave its approval for release, these states acted tough on this film.

However, today Supreme Court pronounced verdict in the petition filed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali against this ban imposed by states. Staying the notifications issued by various states, today SC mentioned that the film should be released as planned and no other state would be able to issue any such notification against the movie. Definitely, this is a big relief for Padmavat makers.

Early in the morning, Madhya Pradesh government showed its love for Rajput caste people by issuing another order that strict action will be taken against people who play Padmvat songs in any event. But Supreme Court’s order would come as a stunning punch on the face for these haters.
