Stylish star Allu Arjun is all set to launch his own production house soon. Arjun is so impressed with Anu K Reddy’s script and decided to produce it on his own.It is a surprising decision from the DJ actor as his father owns Geetha Arts, one of the prestigious banner in Tollywood.
So Allu Arjun is heading in his cousin Ram Charan’s direction who has recently turned producer with Khaidi No. 150.Allu Arjun’s debut production will have boxing as backdrop and will start rolling from April, 2018.His upcoming film Naa Peru Surya will release in April/May.
After his three-day whirlwind tour of coastal Andhra recently, power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan has gone back into hiding and kept his fans and political analysts guessing as to what he would do next.Sources close to him say Pawan’s next tour will be in Telangana. He is now in the process of identifying a few issues like for example the unemployment problem, the unrest among Adivasis and land distribution for Dalits etc.
He will concentrate on setting up party office in Hyderabad and in all other important cities of the state. However, strictly speaking, Pawan does not have much stakes in Telangana, since he has been speaking mostly against the bifurcation of the combined Andhra Pradesh and issues concerning Andhra Pradesh like special category status etc. There have been no instances of Pawan taking up issues concerning Telangana.Yet, Pawan surprised everybody by saying his party would contest all the seats in Telangana as well. So what makes Pawan to take the decision?
Sources say it is indirectly to benefit Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the 2019 elections, as part of the secret understanding the latter had with the Telugu Desam Party. All said and done, Pawan has some support base in Telangana as well, especially among the youth in rural areas. He also has the backing of Kapu community in Hyderabad and surrounding areas. If he is able to divide the anti-establishment vote in Telangana, which would otherwise go to the Congress, it would largely benefit the TRS.
Even if Pawan can make a small percentage of difference in voting pattern, it would help the TRS!
The number of Indians travelling to the United States dropped “significantly” in the first six months of 2017, with experts attributing the dip to important policy changes — especially at home.As per the latest figures released by US National Travel and Tourism Office, in the first six months (January to June), there was a drop of 12.9 per cent in the number of people travelling from India to the US.The drop was a significant 18.3 per cent during the second quarter – months of April, May, and June.
“We’ve seen some softness in visitation (from India to US) in 2017, in first part of the year. We expect that to be just a short-term phenomenon,” Brand USA’s president and CEO Chris Thompson told PTI in an interview.Thompson said the significant policy changes made by India in the last one year might have impacted the numbers.”There are so many things that influence the intent or ability for people to travel. The demonetisation. The introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was also something that affects people’s ability or intent to travel,” Thompson said.
Thompson said he couldn’t pinpoint the reason behind the dwindling numbers, but hoped that the “softness” be a short- term phenomenon.Responding to a question on the impact of the general anti-immigrant sentiment in the US, the Brand USA CEO said the impact has been “negligible” in India.”Brand USA carried out sentiment research in its top 11 markets, which includes India. President Donald Trump is being seen as friendly by our Indian friends and visitors,” he said.
“The only issue that we’ve had probably may have contributed to some of the softness is there was more demand for visas than we had the ability to process,” he said, adding that the issue has now been resolved. In 2016 there were 1.17 million travellers from India who visited the US – contributing USD 13.6 million toward the US economy, which was a 14 per cent increase over the year prior.According to the latest projections by the Department of Commerce, the US expects an additional 814,000 visitors from India by 2021 as compared to the 2016 figures, Thompson said.
“That will be a 72 per cent increase over 2016 number,” he said. The Brand USA chief said he was still “very optimistic and very bullish” about India.More direct flights between the two countries would help in this increase as will the increasing cooperation between the two countries on travel and tourism, he said.
Apparently realising that not extending invitation to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu for the World Telugu Conference has caused a lot of damage to his reputation and showed his mean mentality, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to have gone into a damage control mode. The Chief Minister’s Office authorities called up media offices late on Saturday night and leaked the information saying KCR really wanted to invite Chandrababu Naidu, but did not do so, after coming to know the latter’s hectic schedule.
“KCR decided to invite Naidu and even asked the officials to make arrangements to receive him. However, after coming to know that the AP chief minister would not be available because of his Maldives Trip and other official engagements, he dropped the idea,” official sources said. The CMO went on to explain that both the chief ministers have come to an agreement that they would work together for the development of Telugu language in both the states.
“Naidu understood the situation and took the issue positively,” sources said.
The explanation given by KCR’s office was not convincing, as Naidu himself clarified that he had not received any invitation from the Telangana government, but wished all the best for the conference.Whether Naidu comes or not is a different question, but KCR should have extended an invitation. If the AP chief minister was not in a position to come to the conference, he would have at least sent his representative or message.
It was widely expected that Pawan Kalyan would take over social media as the top hero with Agnyathavaasi. If not all over India, his fans were confident that he would emerge as a top name in south India. But the hopes of Pawan’s fans were crashed when it turned out that he stood at 2nd position.Usually, a hero’s craze is determined by the number of views his film’s teaser gets in 24 hours. At least that’s the bar that fan clubs go by.
So if one goes by that calculation, Agnyathavaasi does stand out as the topper, as it got the maximum number of views. The teaser managed to get nearly 6.4 million views in 24 hours. The trailer of Jai Lava Kusa stood at second place and Glimpse of Spider stood at third place. So going by YouTube views, Pawan Kalyan did come up in the top position. But that is in terms of Tollywood alone.
However, when it comes to all of south India, he ranks second as Vijay’s Mersal topped the list with maximum number of views. The film’s teaser managed to get 11.2 million views within 24 hours.
It is a great year for Dil Raju as a producer. Most of his films turned out to be super hits at the box office.Films like Fidaa, Shatamanam Bhavati and Nenu Local were amongst the biggest hits of the year. Dil Raju made profits with each and every film that he made this year. However DJ and Raja The Great films didn’t turn out profitable for their buyers.
DJ buyers lost a good chunk of their investment and Dil Raju had to compensate those losses by offering Fidaa for a very low price.DJ however is the most profitable film for Dil Raju as a producer as its theatrical and digital/satellite rights were sold for high prices. As the film didn’t live up to expectations, buyers couldn’t recover their huge investment and Dil Raju immediately compensated their losses by offering Fidaa for low prices.
The film turned out to be a blockbuster and the buyers were able to recover from the losses of DJ.Even Raja The Great is a profitable venture for Raju, but most of its buyers couldn’t recover their money. Perhaps Dil Raju may bail them out with MCA.
