Superstar Relates Films to Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam
Films are nothing but stories, experiences and ideologies that connect people around the world, irrespective of the language and country they belong to, said Bollywood superstar Superstar Shah Rukh Khan while inaugurating the IFFI (International Film Festival of India) on Monday.
“There is a word in Sanskrit – Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, means bringing the world together like a family. Stories and movies connect people. I believe no matter what your language and ideologies are, no matter what country your story comes from, storytelling and movie viewing should be a familial experience that binds us all together, makes relationships stronger even in the face of dissent and discussion as it happens in a family, instead of tearing us apart,” Shah Rukh said at the opening ceremony.
He said India is the birthplace of stories, history, mythology and legends, and that these stories give people and hope and inspiration. The 52-year-old star said films bring people together through the shared love for stories.
“An idea becomes a film that we all watch. The magic of storytelling has the power to touch all our senses, and in doing so, actually binding us together,” the DDLJ actor said during his charismatic speech.
Balayya’s Reaction On Using His Name
With Nara Rohith’s upcoming film being titled ‘Balakrishnudu’, many people might wonder how Balayya would have reacted when he first heard the title? Here comes the answer from the horse’s mouth itself.
When Rohith was asked in an interview about this, he replied that Balayya felt very happy. He added that his film’s director Pavan Mallela met Balayya to know whether he had any reservations against his name being used as their film’s title. Balayya was thrilled at hearing the title, said Rohith.
Besides having Balayya’s name as title, Balakrishnudu also has some references to Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, the freedom writer whose life is being made as ‘Sye Raa’ starring Megastar Chiranjeevi. The film is hitting screens this Friday.
I stand by ‘Padmavati’, Bhansali: Ranveer Singh
Actor Ranveer Singh, one of the three lead actors of “Padmavati”, on Tuesday said he stands by the movie and its director Sanjay Leela Bhansali “200 per cent” amidst the ongoing controversy over its alleged content.
“I am 200 percent with the film and I stand by it as well as Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Given that it is very sensitive time right now, I have been specifically asked not to say anything. Whatever official communication with regards to the film needs to be made, you will receive it from the producers,” Ranveer told the media here.
The actor was wary of talking about the movie as he was present at the launch of Adidas Original’s first ‘Fashion Destination Door’ format store here.
Before any further questions could be put on “Padmavati”, Ranveer told the media: “Thank you very much for coming out today and before some ruckus happens here, I need to get out of here.”
The actor plays Delhi Sultan Alauddin Khilji in the movie, which Bhansali says is a tribute to the valour of Rajput queen Padmavati. The film is in the eye of a storm following protests from conservative groups over alleged tampering of historical facts — a contention Bhansali has denied repeatedly.
The release of the film, which was earlier slated for December 1, has been deferred as the filmmakers are yet to secure a censor certificate.
Ranveer, otherwise, appeared joyous as he launched the new store for the brand which he represents in India.
If they are NRAs, what are Lokesh and his Babu?
Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh’s comments against Telugu film personalities describing them as Non-Resident Andhras (NRAs) has kicked up a major controversy in the film industry.
Lokesh on Monday said the Telugu film industry continues to operate from Hyderabad and all the film personalities were settled there, but were criticising the Andhra Pradesh government’s Nandi awards.
“People who don’t have Aadhar card and vote ID card in Andhra Pradesh are finding fault with us and casting aspersions on us in caste angle,” he criticised.
Lokesh comments received a lot of flak from Telugu film industry. Reacting on his comments, comedian-and-character artiste Posani Krishna Murali fired at Lokesh Lashing out at Nara Lokesh for bringing in the issue of local and non-locals into the Nandi Award debate.
“If we are NRAs, what are Lokesh and his father Chandrababu Naidu? Don’t they have houses and business interests in Hyderabad?” he asked.
Asking Lokesh to learn speaking skills from Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Posani alleged that Nara Lokesh lacked knowledge and reminded that the people of both the Telugu states can stay together in Hyderabad as the city being the combined capital for 10 years.
Questioning the credibility of the jury that selected movies for Nandi awards, Posani said he was not accepting the Nandi award announced for him.
Posani has been selected for Nandi award for best-supporting artist for his movie ‘Temper.’ He said he would not accept the award due to the caste controversies that have surfaced to get associated with the honours.
This is what Lokesh Should Learn From Dad, Wife & Mama
Lokesh’s response over Nandi Awards controversy might have been done with a good intention and to put a full stop to the ongoing row. But in run up to it, Lokesh has committed a big, irrevocable mistake by making comments that have not hurt a few but almost all from the Telugu film fraternity that is based out of Hyderabad.
Analysts opine that had Lokesh stayed silent over the issue, it wouldn’t had been lost steam by now. However, Lokesh’s remarks of voter id and Non-resident Andhras have added up to the ongoing debate.
When Balayya was asked about the entire Nandi Awards row, he had just smiled and not spoken over it. Whereas Brahmini has congratulated all the winners and said this is not the right time to respond on controversy. Even CM Chandrababu Naidu opined that they should have followed an IVRS model to gauge the public mood and decide the winners instead of going by the jury decision. Naidu clarified that government has no role in it.
Had lokesh too reacted in similar tone, he would have been in a safe position. But Lokesh seems to have had tongue-in-cheek moment with his comments that are earning him brickbats in return.Needless to say that Lokesh should learn to be smart from his family members.
Fresh Rumor on Nag-Anushka
After Baahubali, Anushka Shetty has yet to officially sign a film, and in the meanwhile, her name continues to be linked to every other potential biggie, especially starring senior heroes.
After Saaho and Sye Raa, Anushka’s name made rounds as the possible heroine of Venkatesh-Teja film. No such thing has happened though. Now, latest reports suggest that she might get on board of Nagarjuna’s new film, a RGV directorial. Unconfirmed reports are doing rounds that RGV had already approached Anushka and she responded positively.
There is no official update on whether the audience will get another treat of Nag-Anushka romance or it is just another rumor circulated to capitalize on the craze of the actors’ pairing, which has been witnessed in several films by now.
