Pawan Kalyan Still Undecided??
The minute Pawan Kalyan stepped in London to received an Honour for Indo European Business Network, fans started worrying. Wonder why? Because they know what happens when he comes back now.
After his return to India, Pawan will be joining the fresh schedule of his ‘Agnathavasi’ being directed by Trivikram. And this film is not only his 25th film but all likely it is going to be his last film as well. Pawan is said to be not interested in any new narrations by any directors and is on the plan to return the advances to producers if he has taken any.
So practically, 25th film is his last one and if he succeeds in politics with Janasena Party then he may not look at films again. If he tumbles, then he may return to wear the grease paint yet again. But his fans don’t want him to tumble in politics and at the same time, they don’t want him to quit movies, which is a far-from-distant desire.
However, some insiders revealed that Pawan hasn’t still decided whether to call off his film journey with 25th film or continue it post the elections. Much expected clarity may come at the audio launch of Agnathavasi where Pawan is likely to pour out his heart.
How Much Balayya Can Damage Pawan?
When two big films clash at box office, it is natural to see they eating away the revenues of each other. As Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Agnathavasi’ and Balayya’s ‘Jai Simha’ are pegged to clash for Sankranthi 2018, how the latter can impact the business of the former.
As PK25 (Jan 10) is releasing two days ahead of Jai Simha (Jan 12), the Pawan-starrer can mint maximum money in the first two days. Record number of theatres will be allocated for the film, albeit only for two days, a repetition of how Megastar’s “Khaidi No.150” released ahead of GPSK this year. The problem for Agnathavasi however starts from Day 3.
The biggest loss of clashing with a Balayya-starrer is ‘procuring theatres’. In areas such as Ceded and Guntur, theatres are booked in well advance whenever a Balayya-starrer’s release is announced. In the places where there are only single theatres, other films won’t get a release as Balayya’s fans book that particular theatre in advance.
Considering that PK25 is expected to do Rs 100+ Cr theatrical business, and taking into account the fact that lion’s share of a film’s revenue comes in the first week only, it would be a loss for the Pawan-starrer if it doesn’t get a release in the areas having single theatres. What’s more, some exhibitors back off when they are asked to screen a film for only two days, keeping the piracy menace in mind, which can result in a huge loss of revenue to Agnathavasi that comes from hires from C centres.
KCR Attracting Congress’ Age old Friend
There is neither a permanent ally nor a permanent enemy in politics. Proving the same, MIM party is now firing all cylinders against its age old ally Congress, and is becoming a new ally of the ruling party, TRS.
Ever since the Winter Assembly sessions of Telangana have begun recently, MIM is believed to have come up with the sole agenda of shielding Chief Minister KCR and his policies from the attack of opposition parties, especially Congress. Political analysts say both TRS and MIM have become new friends keeping in mind the upcoming 2019 Assembly elections.
When the Congress leaders have recently targeted CM KCR in the Assembly alleging he couldn’t procure 12 percent reservation to Muslims, something which he had promised within four months of forming the govt. MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi rushed to KCR’s rescue, and said that the CM had already fulfilled his commitment by passing the bill in the state Assembly, and that the matter was pending with the Centre.
He lambasted the Congress leaders saying they were deliberately targeting KCR. He further said that the CM authority is a very small gift to KCR from people compared with what he had done for people, achieving Telangana state. The opposition leaders were baffled at the MIM party’s support to KCR and TRS.
Reports say that TRS leadership is not making any efforts to strengthen the part in Old City as they are planning to go hand in hand with MIM for 2019 elections.
50% Revenues From Mega Family, But No Importance
“Mega family’s contribution to revenues in the last 15 years is almost 50% of the total revenue of Film Industry, but still the family is largely neglected’ avers Bunny Vasu, a confidante of Allu Arvind and Mega family. His outburst on social media and in TV channels became a hot topic in film circles now.
In the wake of Nandi Awards turning quite controversial, the comments made by Bunny Vasu are adding more fuel to the fire. With Nandi Awards jury members giving clarity that ‘Race Gurram’ didn’t get Nandi Award because it is a commercial film, he breathed fire. “In 2014, Loukyam got the ‘Best Wholesome Film’ award, but isn’t Race Gurram an entertaining film? Which film collected more at the box office? If Race Gurram is a commercial movie, what is Loukyam then?” he questioned.
“Even it is about allotting lands for film development, Mega family never gets any offers from governments. The keep-quiet attitude of mega family led to this situation we have to believe’ said Bunny Vasu, further adding “I didn’t consult Arvind garu before making these comments because he wouldn’t allow me to make such comments’.
On a concluding note, he added, “I don’t have grudge against anyone, but these awards are not just right. In last three years, all mega heroes scored some big hits, but haven’t they given best acting performances? The jury is not right’.
Balayya Fans Strong Counter To Critics
Strongly responding to the detractors, Balayya’s fans have issued a befitting counter over the ongoing Nandi row.
A group of die-hard fans of actor-politician have shared on online platforms, “Mangamma Gari Manavadu was in 1984 when his father and late NTR was the Chief Minister of the state but the film/actor failed to get Nandi. In 1986, six films of Balakrishna we’re released and all of them were received well by audiences, but none of them got Nandi and his dad was the Chief Minister. Balayya’s Aditya 369 (1991), a socio-fantasy film had received both critical acclaim and huge commercial success. In 1994, his reunion with director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao has delivered another path breaking folk film Bhairavadweepam.
Both these films were usually untouched genres and Balayya scored big success with both films. Yet none had got Nandi. Whereas in 2000, his Samara Simha Reddy has set a new Box Office precedent. Eventhough his own brother-in-law Nara Chandra Babu Naidu was the CM, neither he nor his film got award.”
Expounding further, Balayya fans stated that the actor has never lobbied for any of the awards. They lamented that a few anti-fans of actor are misleading the whole issue.
Nandi Awards Controversy Heats Up
The heat erupted over Nandi Awards announced by AP state government yesterday is not going to cool down anytime soon as debate continues with opposition rages. While Rudhramadevi director Gunasekhar has been openly questioning AP government for not giving away any award to his film, the fans of Allu Arjun are adding fuel to the fire while Akkineni fans are snowballing the debate into a major controversy.
In addition to the whole scene, the fresh comments of Nandi Award jury member Prasanna Kumar’s fresh comments in a TV channel discussion are expected to create more trouble for the TDP government.
Responding to why Balakrishna’s Legend was chosen over Akkineni’s Manam, Prasanna Kumar has given a logic that is stunning many rationale-thinking people. Prasanna claimed, “Legend has a social message whereas Manam is a film on rebirths that is far from reality. Legend ran for over 1170 days and so the award.”
These comments of Prasanna Kumar are not going down well with the fans of Nagarjuna who are questioning the over-the-top action scenes shot with cinematic liberties. A few fans of Mega and Akkineni camps are going further and stating that whether jury would give Awards to films that are run for long in theatres stating that if it is so, they say they are ready to hire a theatre and make run their hero’s films for long there.
Meanwhile, many say that Prasanna Kumar’s comments are his personal commitments and nothing to do with Nandi Awards jury committee. It is learnt that even AP State government is apparently upset over this unwanted controversy that is created out-of-blue.
However, going by the present trend, this controversy may not going to die soon unless the Nandi Award jury committee comes up with a proper clarification or explanation. Let’s wait and see what’s in the store.
Will Nayan Do it for Balayya Too?
Realizing the importance of promotions for films, even superstars have started actively promoting their respective films in the last few years. Top actress Nayanthara however abstained from promoting her films, even the heroine-oriented films in which she was the only crowd-pulling face. Well, the actress may have finally changed.
Nayan has recently visited a theatre in Chennai, and watched her latest film, ‘Aramm’ with audience. This is the first time in years that she did something like that to promote her film, and it predictably became a headline all over Tamil Nadu. Don’t think that she promoted the film as it received hit talk, she had shot for a special promotional program for ‘Aramm’ nearly a month ahead of its release, something which she hasn’t done for any of her earlier films.
It is not yet known whether Nayan had made a special exception for ‘Aramm’, or has she really decided to promote her films henceforth. But, the producers of her films are already quite excited at seeing this change in her. They are optimistic that she would promote their respective new releases as well.
‘Aramm’ will soon be released in Telugu as ‘Karthavyam’. However, Nayan’s first upcoming biggie in Telugu is Balayya’s “Jai Simha”. The producer of the Balayya-starrer hopes that she promotes the film. We need to wait for less than months to find out whether Nayan’s stance towards promotions has really changed or not.
