Dasara released biggies like Jr NTR’s Jai Lava Kusa, Mahesh Babu’s Spyder and Sharwanand’s Mahanubhavudu wrapped their honeymoon period and headed to testing times as Dasara season got finished. Jai Lava Kusa Trade Prediction: Break Even
In its eleven days of running so far at the box office, KS Ravindra directorial Jai Lava Kusa managed to amass nearly 70 crores of share. As the final worldwide release business stood at 86 crores, this Jr NTR starrer should collect 16 crores more in the coming days to make sure that all the distributors are in safe zone. It looks like that is going to happen with no stiff competition from other biggies in theatres or from the upcoming ones. Though producer Kalyan Ram got hefty profits, distributors are likely to get only break-even but not any superfluous profits.

Spyder Trade Prediction: Double Disaster
Director AR Murugadoss and Mahesh Babu’s much-hyped ‘Spyder’ got sold for nearly 125 crores with Telugu and Tamil versions combined. And the film has to get ‘share’ figures of same numbers to make sure that there is break-even. In its first extended weekend, the film managed to get 43+ crores share from the worldwide box office and likely to get below 55-60 crores share in its final run owing to the negative talk around the movie. That means, not even half of the investment will be recovered.

Mahanubhavudu trade prediction: Block Buster
Director Maruthi and hero Sharwanand played a perfect safe card this Dasara by banking on comedy which paid off well at theatres. Mahanubhavudu managed to amass 10+ crores from the box office in its first weekend alone and the film looks pretty strong at box office. Trade analysts are predicting nearly 15+ more crores share for this movie in the final run. With worldwide theatrical sales standing at 20 crores valuation, needless to say, the film will fetch profits for all.

All these Dasara releases are having two more weeks happy space at the box office as there are no big films releasing. Only from October 3rd week, they may face the heat of Raja The Great and Raju Gari Gadhi at the box office.

Naga Chaitanya is all set to get married to actress this week in Goa and will head to a vacation post marriage. He already signed his next film titled Savyasachi directed by Chandoo Mondeti.

The first poster gained enough curiosity across the audience and the regular shooting will start by the end of this month. The makers are in talks with Bengaluru based model Niddhi Aggerwal to romance Chaitu in the movie.

This Bengaluru model romanced Tiger Shroff in her debut film Munna Micheal which ended up as a disaster. However Niddhi’s presence and her performance has been appreciated. The actress is yet to take a call on the film and an official announcement will be out soon.

Savyasachi is said to be a new age action thriller that will be bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers. Chaitu’s last outing Yuddham Saranam ended up as a massive debacle.

Sankranthi 2017 saw big money at the box-office. The festival made nearly Rs 200 cr share from three films. Rarely do all the films make money when pitted against each other.

This year, Sankranthi not only brought joy to Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna and Sharwanand, but it left the distributors flush with cash.”Khaidi No 150″, “Gautamiputra Satkarni”, “Shatamanam Bhavati”… all three Sankranthi films turned out to be blockbusters.

So, the industry expected similar result this Dassera season, but it turned out to be a damp squib. This year, NTR’s “Jai Lava Kusa”, Mahesh Babu’s “Spyder” and Sharwanand’s “Mahanubhavudu” hit the screens.

NTR’s “Jai Lava Kusa” became an average runner and “Spyder” is a flop. While the distributors of JLK will not be losing much money, those of Spyder will be losing more.

Sharwanand’s “Mahanubhavudu” has ended up being a safe bet. The film will be making profits by the end of its first week run. Although “Mahanubhavudu” will not be considered as a huge blockbuster, it is definitely a hit.All in all, Dassera festival didn’t bring much satisfaction to Tollywood trade.

Actress Tamannaah Bhatia is confident that the magic of Kangana Ranaut-starrer “Queen” will be recreated in its Telugu version which was officially launched on Sunday.The remake, to be directed by Neelakanta Reddy, has been titled “Queen Once Again”.

“It’s an exciting project and I love doing roles that talk about women empowerment. I’m confident we can recreate the magic of the original. At the same time, not make our film look like a frame-to-frame remake. We’ll adapt it to suit Telugu sensibilities,” Tamannaah told IANS.

Ever since she saw the Vikas Bahl-directed “Queen”, she wanted to be a part of its remake.

“I wasn’t even sure if it was going to be remade. What makes ‘Queen’ special is that it’s one of those rare women-centric films which succeeded in reaching out to everybody, across all sections of the audience,” she said.Tamannaah starts shooting for the project from October 25.

“Queen” is the story of the self-exploration of a young Punjabi girl, played by Kangana, who embarks on her honeymoon to Paris alone after her fiance calls off the wedding.

Last week, the Tamil and Telugu versions of “Queen” were launched. The Tamil version, which has been titled “Paris Paris”, stars Kajal Aggarwal in the lead.

The Kannada version, which has been titled “Butterfly” and stars Parul Yadav, has already gone on the floors.Actor-filmmaker Ramesh Aravind is directing the Tamil as well as Kannada versions of the remake.

Actress Namitha, the once-buxom queen of Tamil cinema, will shock you with her latest avatar.

A few months ago, Namitha used to regularly share her workout videos and update her fans on the progress in her mission of losing weight. At one stage, it seemed like she had shed some 20 kg and looked slimmer compared to her chubby look when she was ruling Tamil cinema.

The performance of Mahesh Babu’s ‘SPYder’ on its first Saturday and Sunday is way too low for a film of a star hero.

After collecting a mere Rs 3 Cr share on its first Saturday, which was a huge and crucial Dasara holiday, SPYder further slumped on its first Sunday and collected 2.5 Cr share. Sunday collections falling short of Saturday’s by around 20% is a very rare for a star hero like Mahesh. This downward trend during weekend holidays demonstrates how fast the film is crashing at box office.

By the end of first weekend (5 days), SPYder could reportedly recover only 47 Cr of 120 Cr buyers’ investment. Trade analysts predict the film to become a bigger disaster than Brahmotsavam.

Nearly Rs. 130 crore is riding on Mahesh Babu’s action thriller Spyder that was made in two languages.

The film is expected to take the box office by storm, but turned out to be a ‘rare dud’ from ace director Murugadoss. Spyder had a very average first weekend (5 days) in spite of festival holidays.

Spyder is yet to break into the Rs. 50 crore (share) club (two languages included), which is disastrous considering the costs involved.

Spyder is having a decent Monday (Gandhi Jayanti) across Telugu states, but it is not enough for the film to reach the breakeven mark that is far, far away from this point.

Things will get tougher and bleaker from Tuesday as the holiday season comes to an end. Thankfully, there will not be any new films to hit the screens on this Friday, which will give another weekend to cash in on.

Spyder failed to appeal to the families and youth, the sections that are a major draw for a Mahesh starrer.Spyder will end up as a big flop unless it shows a miraculous rise in the coming days. That looks near impossible at the moment.

Popular Telugu actor Vishnu Manchu, known for being part of films such as “Dhee” and “Rowdy”, is making inroads into Tamil filmdom with upcoming bilingual political thriller “Kural 388”.The film will also be shot in Telugu.

“The universal concept of the story will appeal to audiences across languages. Hence, we decided to make it as a bilingual. Vishnu is not completely alien to Tamil. When I suggested the idea that we make the film as a bilingual, he was more excited than me,” director G.S Karthik told IANS.Talking about the film, Karthik said the story will delve more on the voter.

“We want to highlight that a voter is the most important person in a democracy. Unfortunately, he or she rarely gets the due respect. This forms the crux of the story,” he said.

The film’s title is built on the 388th Kural, which talks about everyday virtues of an individual.

“In Telugu, we have titled it Voter. We think ‘Kural 388’ will be a powerful Tamil title. We plan to go on the floors very soon,” he added.Surbhi has been roped in as the leading lady.

Young actor Sharwanand scored his second hit this year with Mahanubhavudu which released during the Dasara season. The actor was the first consideration for Arjun Reddy which ended up as a massive blockbuster in Tollywood.

Vijay Devarakonda played the lead role while Sandeep Vanga made his directorial debut with Arjun Reddy. During the promotions of Mahanubhavudu, Sharwanand revealed why he missed Tollywood’s cult classic Arjun Reddy.

“I liked the role and the way Sandeep narrated the script. I myself recommended Sandeep to various producers however no one showed interest as they felt that the film lacked commercial aspects. As days passed, Sandeep decided to produce the film on his own. It was then I felt he cannot do justice for the film and I walked out of Arjun Reddy. I had firm belief in Sandeep’s abilities but I felt he cannot balance both direction and production responsibilities. I regret for missing such a great role”.

Now that Nandamuri Balakrishna failed to score success with his previous film Paisa Vasool, fans have huge expectations on his upcoming 102nd film which is a faction backdrop story – under the direction of Ravi Kumar. Noted producer C Kalyan will be producing it and Nayanthara was finalized as one of the leading ladies out of three. Reports popped out that the actor would appear in dual role in this film.

On other hand, a news that’s largely under circulation is that ‘noted Bollywood actor Vivek Oberai has been approached to play antagonist role in the film’. However, it’s not yet finalized and officially declared.

With Paritala Ravi role in Raktha Charitra, actor Vivek Oberai has become quite popular in Tollywood as well and he recently debuted in Tamil Film Industry with Vivegam, alongside Ajith. Since Vivegam failed to strike gold at box-office, this Telugu opportunity would apparently boost his chances down south.
