Strong Word Of Mouth Makes Them Happy

Share

Despite there has been an overdose of horror comedies in theatres in last two years or so, the success percentage is very bleak. With routine plots and cliched spooky moments, rarely a few films came across to exploit the true potential of the horror comedy genre. The latest Telugu release, ‘Anando Brahma’ is a refreshing change.

The small film (in budget, but not on content), which managed to create decent pre-release buzz, has largely lived up to the expectations on it. Comedy clicked big time, especially in the second half. Vennela Kishore, Sreenivasa Reddy and Shakalaka Shankar received immense acclaim, so was the film’s director Mahi V Raghav.

A boost in collections was observed on Saturday and Sunday as a result of encouraging word of mouth. The best part is Anando Brahma sustained competition from two biggies of last week, Nene Raju Nene Manthri and Jaya Janaki Nayaka, which are still doing decent business at box office.

With decent reviews and positive word of mouth, the Taapsee starrer has reportedly minted good money at box office over the first weekend. Anando Brahma is emerging as the Sleeper Hit of 2017. The range of this film’s success depends on the performance of next Friday releases.

Little Indra to make debut as Hero

Share

At times when several star kids are gearing up to make debut as a hero, the young talent named Teja is also set for big screen appearance but not as a debutant.

Teja is not a star kid but he was a kid who portrayed the child roles of several stars including Megastar Chiranjeevi. Just to recall- he is the child actor of Indra who beats his thigh to the thunder with a sword in other hand.

Having featured in more than 50 films as a child artist, Master Teja is a well-known face for Telugu audiences. Known for his mesmerizing performance in Yuvaraju, Tagore, Indra, Samba, Bachi & others, Teja Sajja is now making his adult debut as a ‘Hero’ in the film Prashant Varma. The young actor has recently proved his mettle in a short film ‘Dialogue in the Dark’.

Bekkam Venugopal will be producing this youthful love story and newcomer Hari will helm the project that will take off from 15th September. Uyyala Jampala and Swamy Ra Ra fame Sunny M.R will score audio tunes.

On that note, let us wish Teja all success as a lead actor and continue to impress us like the way he did as child actor!

Jagan Upset with Shilpa Mohan Reddy!

Share

Jagan is reportedly upset with his party candidate in Nandyal, Shilpa Mohan Reddy. Apparently, Jagan had hatched a plan to weaken TDP in Nandyal completely by roping in then TDP’s senior leader and constituency in-charge Shilpa Mohan Reddy anticipating that a mass exodus of TDP leaders into YSRCP.

However, in a jolt to Jagan, except Shilpa Chakrapani, Shilpa Mohan Reddy’s brother and MLC from TDP, none of the senior leaders from the TDP have joined YSRCP ever since Shilpa Mohan Reddy joined YSRCP. Even several followers of Shilpa have refused to cross over to YSRCP and are still in TDP giving a setback to both Shilpa and Jagan.

What is more shocking in turn is that TDP has attracted senior leaders in district like former MP Gangula Prathap Reddy into the party. Irony is that Gangula Prathap Reddy’s brother Gangula Prabhakar Reddy is in YSRCP and yet the party couldn’t manage to rope in Gangula Prathap Reddy who had been an arch rival to Bhuma family. Yet the senior leader came out in support of Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy and doing his best for the TDP’s victory in Nandyal by-election.

On top of this, YSRCP’s weak poll campaigning and completely personal remarks on Chandrababu have spoiled the winning chances of the party. On other hand, Chandrababu Naidu’s whirlwind tour in the constituency have strengthened TDP a lot.

All these have weakened Jagan, YSRCP to the core resulting in Jagan turning ‘upset’ on Shilpa Mohan Reddy.

Bigg Boss: All Thanks To One Man Show

Share

Bigg Boss Telugu reality show, which first looked as another lame Bollywood import, is slowly but steadily turning out to be a must watch programme, especially on Saturday and Sunday, all thanks to one man, NTR Jr.

The star hero’s ease, verbosity and spontaneity keeps getting better as the show progresses. In the Last night’s episode, NTR, who is the Host on the show, danced even along with the participants during the ‘Musical Chairs’ game. No other star hero could have made the game so entertaining. His sense of humor is something that is taking viewers as well as the participants by surprise.

His talkative skill being of chivalrous yet not making it look offensive proves why he was the best option to host this controversy-prone show. The consistent high ratings the show has been getting on Saturday and Sunday is largely because of NTR’s skillful hosting.

Just like Salman Khan as the host of Hindi Bigg Boss, NTR is most likely to stay as the host of Telugu version for years, since it is hard to imagine the show without the ‘Janatha Garage’ star.

Nagarjuna’s Rocking Promotion Team

Share

Akkineni Nagarjuna is known for his business prowess and the way he plans and promotes his films is also quite interesting. More than that, his Promotion Team rocks all the way when it comes to taking a film into audiences. But every film will have similar Promotion Team know? That’s where Nagarjuna and Co make the difference.

For example, in no time Akhil’s latest movie, which is likely to be titled “Hello”, got huge attention in quick two days. And that promotion team Nagarjuna owns is majorly responsible for this. If any film is coming up from Annapurna Studios compound, then Nagarjuna will tweet about, followed by his army consisting Naga Chaitanya, Akhil, Sumanth, and Sushant. Recently Samantha also joined this gang and they write about any Annapurna Studios film on their timeline. That leads to nearly half-a-dozen celebrities pouring love on a film, and definitely, it will become a talk of the town immediately.

Sometimes other good friends of Akkinenis like Rana Daggubati and Rakul Preet also join this promotion gang. Even Akkineni Studio Insider, lady director Chunia, also promotes any of their films through her social network pages.

On a whole, this promotion gang is surprising Tollywood with their utter sincerity and dedication by their ways of taking a film into people. Other camps like Mega camp and Nandamuri camp also have few members active on twitter and facebook, but their promotions are little low compared to the Annapurna Studio camp.

British Royal Navy Warships Seize Narcotics Worth $515 Million

Share

Britain’s Royal Navy sailors have completed a five-month anti-drug-smuggling operation in the Gulf region and Indian Ocean during which narcotics worth $515 million were seized, the Ministry of Defence announced on Sunday.

The Ministry said since April, British, French, the United States and Australian warships in a Combined Task Force have taken part in Operation Southern Surge to counter narcotics trafficking, Xinhua news agency reported.

The Royal Navy warship, HMS Monmouth, was involved in eight drugs operations seizing 1.75 tonnes of narcotics, it said.

“The multinational coalition is focused on deterring and denying maritime terrorist activity in the region, which includes some of the world’s most vital trade routes such as the Suez Canal and Bab Al Mandeb Strait,” said a spokesman.

Goes to terror funding

Britain’s Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon said: “The money made from these nefarious criminal activities fund the terrorists, who threaten us at home and abroad. As we leave the European Union, we will continue to work alongside our allies to tackle smuggling in the region and maintain the free flow of shipping.”

Navies from the Combined Maritime Forces, a coalition of 31 nations, take turns to lead the task force either from a command ship or the headquarters in Bahrain.

The Franco-British team has been directing operations since April after taking over from the Canadian Navy, and has now passed on command to the Pakistan Navy.

10 US Sailors Missing After Destroyer Collides With Tanker

Share

A U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer collided with a tanker early Monday in waters east of Singapore and the Strait of Malacca, and at least 10 sailors are missing.

The Navy said five others were hurt.

The USS John S. McCain sustained damage on its port side aft, or left rear, from the collision with the Alnic MC that happened at 5-24 a.m., the Navy’s 7th Fleet said. It wasn’t immediately clear if the oil and chemical tanker sustained damage or casualties in the collision.

Rescue ops on

The Navy said Osprey aircraft and Seahawk helicopters from the USS America were assisting. It also said tugboats and Singaporean naval and coast guard vessels were in the area to render assistance.

Malaysia’s Navy Chief Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin tweeted that two ships as well as aircraft from its navy and air force have been deployed to help look for the missing U.S. sailors.

The Strait of Malacca is a narrow body of water between Malaysia to the northeast and Indonesia to the southwest, with the city-state of Singapore at the tip of the Malay Peninsula.

Second such disaster

The collision is the second involving a ship from the Navy’s 7th Fleet in the Pacific in two months. Seven sailors died in June when the USS Fitzgerald and a container ship hit each other in waters off Japan.

The Fitzgerald’s captain was relieved of command and other sailors were being punished after the Navy found poor seamanship and flaws in keeping watch contributed to the collision, the Navy announced last week. An investigation into how and why the Fitzgerald collided with the other ship was not finished, but enough details were known to take those actions, the Navy said.

The Japan-based 7th Fleet said the USS John S. McCain had been heading to Singapore for a routine port visit when the collision occurred.

The ship is based at the 7th Fleet’s homeport of Yokosuka, Japan. It was commissioned in 1994 and has a crew of 23 officers, 24 chief petty officers and 291 enlisted sailors, according the Navy’s website.

The warship is 154 meters (505 feet) in length.

The Alnic MC is a 183-meter (600-foot) oil and chemical tanker.

Board under pressure after Sikka’s exit

Share

With Vishal Sikka’s exit from the company, Infosys has not just experienced a plunge in its share value but it also has resulted its board members in an uncertainty. The IT giant of India appointed COO UB Pravin Rao as its interim CEO and currently, in search of a capable boss to lead.

The growing pressure on board members is making it a tougher challenge and like in the past, ‘Infosys may choose an external candidate and CEO job is going to be even more difficult now.’ Difficult because the industry is facing challenges of Brexit and uncertainty in United States. So, the hunt for new talent has not confined to be entry level jobs but it also has stretched to top-job in the company as well.

However, the company’s chairman Seshasayee told the reporters that ‘Infosys would not look for a major change in cultural and strategy and was confident it could still attract talent.’

Sikka, who exited from company on Friday, cited continuous distractions and criticism from Founder Narayana Murthy led him to quit with immediate effect.
