Some may dissent with veteran Telugu director K Raghavendra Rao’s obsession of throwing flowers and fruits on his heroines’ midriff, but over the years, it has become a trademark in Telugu films, and many actresses who worked in his direction on separate occasions have complimented that no director can depict an actress’ beauty as graceful and aesthetically as he does. Curly beauty Taapsee Pannu, who made her cinematic debut with KRR’s ‘Jummandi Naadam’ (2010), has instead of showing gratitude to him and Tollywood, has made some derogatory remarks.

“I made my debut under this senior director who had the reputation of having midas touch in launching actresses. He launched the likes of Sridevi, Jayasudha etc a few decades ago. He is known to show the sensuality of an actress by showing her midriff and hitting it with fruits and flowers,” said Taapsee to a gathering who were having fun while she was busy mocking KRR.

“Somehow, I prepared myself to be hit with this director’s flowers and fruits after watching Sridevi and Jayaprada’s videos from his films. When my turn came, my midriff was hit by a coconut… I dont know what is so sensuous about hitting an actress’ midriff with coconut,” she mockingly said.

Taapsee went on to say that Southern film industry treated her as only a glam-doll and the audiences here were shocked to her acting prowess in Bollywood films – Pink and Naam Shabana.

Its a shame that an actress who was made famous by Tollywood, has made such scathing remarks after acting in a few decent Bollywood films. If not for the popularity and experience she had earned from Tollywood, would Bollywood have cared for her?

Her comments have understandably not gone well with Telugu movie lovers. When they started questioning her on twitter, she started blocking them all. We wonder how will she deal with Telugu media when she comes to Hyderabad to promote her upcoming Telugu film, ‘Anando Brahma’.

Nani is one of the most loved Telugu actors in US. The success of his films is a proof enough for this statement. While his latest release ‘Ninnu Kori’ is raking in record moolah at US box office, the actor has opened up about his shooting experience there.

For the first time, a Nani’s film, ‘Ninnu Kori’, was extensively shot in USA. Calling the experience wonderful, Nani talked about the love showered upon them by the family, whose lavish house was used for major part of the shoot.

‘The house used in the film belongs to Dasari Prasad garu. They were gracious enough to let us shoot in their house. Over the course of time, they became like a family for me. I used to call Prasad garu’s wife Padmaja, ‘Padmakka’. We even created a Whatsapp group named ‘Padmakka & Ninnu Kori team’. Production team used to bring us food but Padmakka used to insist and make us eat only the food cooked in their house, daily,’ an elated Nani said.

‘After pack up, we couldn’t go to hotels as Prasad garu ask us to spend time with them, we play billiards, watch movies, discuss this and that etc. It was hard for me to say adieu to them after we wrapped up the shoot. I invited them to Hyderabad to watch Ninnu Kori along with my family, and stay at my house for a few days,’ Nani further said.

After a gap of five years, Sridevi is back to the silver screen with the revenge thriller Mom. The film, which hit the screens on Friday, has opened to exceptional response from critics and fans. The lead actors- Sridevi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were highly praised for their stellar performances. As per initial trade reports, Mom witnessed 25 per cent occupancy and raked in Rs 3.10 crore on the first day.

It must be noted that Sridevi’s English Vinglish, which released in 2012, had collected Rs 2.5 crore on its opening day. However, due to positive word of mouth, the film went on to nett Rs 40 crore worldwide. Released in over 1350 screens in India and 456 screens in overseas, Mom is expected to earn more moolah during the weekend.

‘Sr NTR doesn’t belong to just one family, he is the property of Telugu people. The decision of biopic on him has been welcomed by entire Telugu speaking fraternity,’ said NTR when asked about his opinion.

When informed about Balayya playing Sr NTR on silver screen, Jr said, ‘it’s great news’. He replied that he hasn’t yet thought about it when asked if he would play any role in the biopic. Elated with the super success of Baahubali 2, director giant Rajamouli has made some stunning comments, including that of fake theatres list of Magadheera 100 days and also Sridevi’s starry demands to take up Sivagami’s role. That led to huge discussions in film circles and also has upset some people.

Taking to Rajamouli’s comments, Sridevi stated, “I didn’t expect a guy of Rajamouli’s stature to speak that way. Being a producer’s wife, I don’t make such irrelevant demands. And also if I troubled my producers that way, I wouldn’t have today done 300 films”. When quizzed about these comments, finally Rajamouli chose to respond to a Bollywood media house.

“What I’ve told and What Sridevi ji responded on them is in public domain now. People can decide who’s right and who is wrong, there is no worry about it. But I regret today that I should not have spoken such stuff in the first place on record and in an interview. It’s my mistake” said Rajamouli, hinting that he should have avoided Sridevi’s topic.

Many cinema lovers often see Uday Kiran’s biggest minus ever he has done to his career is his much-hyped engagement with Megastar Chiranjeevi’s daughter Sushmita and subsequently calling it off. They blame Megastar for the downfall of Uday’s career post this happening. But what has Uday Kiran’s own sister Sridevi, who stays in Muscat, Oman along with her family, has to say about this?

Three years post the suicide of Uday, it looks like Sridevi will speak about the past. Giving a clean certificate to Chiranjeevi, she says, “Even before Sushmita got engaged to Uday, Chiranjeevi garu is a solid support system for Uday Kiran. When my brother is going through a bitter breakup (with a lady journalist and anchor), it’s Chiranjeevi garu who gave him solace and guided him through tough times. He gave my brother emotional and mental support when he’s crying a lot”.

“Probably to give more of such solace to Uday, Chiranjeevi garu proposed the marriage and we all are very happy with it. We went to Chiranjeevi garu’s house and the hospitality is amazing. I spoke to him over phone couple of times and he’s really great. But Uday felt that the likes-dislikes of him and Sushmita are not matching. He felt that they are not compatible with each other. It is his decision to call off the wedding, not Chiranjeevi garu’s decision”, she added. Later Uday Kiran’s family is not in touch with Chiranjeevi’s family.

Though directly not accusing anyone, Sridevi stated that Uday Kiran is not happy in marital life though he always lied that he’s happy. “I met Uday Kiran and Vishita during the marriage and later went to Muscat. Whenever I called, Uday used to say he’s happy but never Vishita is at home to speak to me. I doubt now, something went wrong there. After Uday’s death, she’s not in touch with us till date and that explains, there is something to suspect”, asserted Sridevi.

Well, Uday Kiran is one young sensation who rose to heights despite having no solid support from the film industry. Probably he should have been alive!!
