Kid In Borewell Found Dead After 60 Hrs

Share

Chinnari, the 14-month baby who had fallen into an open bore well in Ranga Reddy district on Thursday, was pulled out dead this morning.

Besides police, the fire department, a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and ONGC personnel were involved in the almost 58-hour long rescue operations, which sadly failed to save the baby’s life.

Cyberabad police Commissioner and minister Mahender Reddy, speaking to media, declared the baby dead. They called off the rescue operation at around 6 am this morning after the baby’s remains were pulled out.

The little girl was playing with her elder sister when she accidentally slipped into the nearly 450-feet-deep bore well at Ekkareddyguda village in Chevella mandal of Ranga Reddy district. The incident happened at around 7.15 pm on Thursday and the efforts to rescue her started as early as from 8 pm. After 58 hours of efforts, her remains were retrieved this morning, said police.

The child’s remains were sent to postmortem to ascertain her death. Meanwhile, the Cyberabad police registered a case against the land owner under IPC section 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others).

DJ Hits Half Million, Difficult Road Ahead

Share

Allu Arjun’s latest release ‘Duvvada Jagannatham’ crossed the half million dollar mark in the US by Friday. The cumulative collections from Thursday premieres and Friday stands at a decent USD527K approx.

However, significant drop was observed in footfalls on second day itself. If the film shows signs of dropping any further, it will be difficult for the exhibitors to recover their money. DJ has to collect more than USD1.5 million to be called a safe venture.

Considering that the film has received below par reviews mostly, exhibitors hope DJ to put up a decent show at least in the first weekend and that they can attract audience in week days by slashing ticket price.

For a routine commercial entertainer, winning US audiences was always going to be challenging but buyers relied on the seemingly fresh ‘Brahmin’ avatar of Bunny. Unfortunately, the film still turned out to be a routine product.

Taking into account that Bunny’s last film ‘Sarrainodu’ ended up below $900K even after taking a decent start, it needs to be seen if DJ follows suit or Bunny’s upcoming US tour helps the film in reaching safe shore.

Sridevi Shot Back at Rajamouli

Share

Veteran actress Sridevi has finally responded to the allegations of Rajamouli where he had revealed that he had to back out when Sridevi shocked him with unreasonable demands, when approached to essay the role of Sivagami.

During an earlier interview, Rajamouli revealed, “Sridevi asked for 8 crores. Apart from that, she wants five business class tickets whenever she has to fly to Hyderabad and fly back. And five business suites should be booked at the biggest hotel in Hyderabad for her entourage during their stay. She even wanted a share in Hindi version of the film”.

Now, as the actress is in Hyderabad to promote her upcoming film ‘Mom’, when Sridevi was reminded of Rajamouli’s revelations, she said, “no filmmaker has the right to reveal the remuneration of an artiste on a public platform. Not only ‘Baahubali’, I have rejected several hit films in the past few years for my own reasons. No maker of those films has ever spoken about my rejecting their film on a public platform.”

“Don’t I have the right to accept or reject a film?” she shot back.

Sridevi denied demanding Rs.8 crore remuneration and other luxurious facilities as said by Rajamouli. “I couldn’t have done 300 films if I was an actress who make unreasonable demands,” she stressed.

She opined that an accomplished technician like Rajamouli shouldn’t have talked about her remuneration in interviews.

DJ Thumps Tubelight in Both India & US

Share

Telugu cinema continues to humble Bollywood biggies. After Baahubali 2 shattered all the existing records of Hindi cinema, now Allu Arjun’s Duvvada Jagannatham has opened to bigger numbers than box office Ruler Salman Khan’s latest Eid offering ‘Tubelight’.

While ‘Tubelight’ collected Rs 21 crore nett. on Day 1 in India, DJ minted approx. Rs 24 crore gross. The power of Telugu films can be understood even better when we tell you that DJ was released in less than half the theatres Tubelight was screened in India on the opening day.

Coming to the US, DJ collected almost double to Tubelight despite having been released in half the number of screens. While Tubelight could mint only $280K on Friday, DJ collected around $530K (including Thursday premiers).

DJ’s dominance over Tubelight stunned top Bollywood trade analysts so much that they called the phenomenon (Tollywood films’ invasion on box office and making Bollywood look relatively small) a wake up call to Hindi film industry.

If Bollywood is so stunned by DJ’s opening, Telugu movie lovers can’t wait to see the response of Bollywood to the opening numbers of upcoming films of Pawan, Mahesh and NTR.

Star Hero’s Worst Performance?

Share

Like any Eid release of Salman Khan, Tubelight had been riding high with stupendous expectations. Pouring cold water on all those expectations, the film released the other day turned out to be a damp squib. Opened to poor to mixed reviews all over, Salman’s performance as a developmentally disabled man is under fire. Few critics have dubbed it as Salman’s ‘worst’ performance in his career till date. This is not all.

In fact, everyone apart from Salman has received thumbs up for the performances but Salman’s straight face seems to have marred the film that is loosely a remake of 2015 American film Little Boy.

Set in 1962, Tubelight is an anti-war film which see Salman as Laxman Singh Bisht. His mission is to stop wars as his brother Bharat (Sohail) has gone across the border to fight in the Indo-Chinese war. Laxman is good at heart but he is laughed at for his disability. What are the changes that come in Laxman’s way and how they change the things swiftly form the story.

Another noted critic simply stated that the message of Tubelight is delivered right – love conquers all, but he pointed that the messenger has ‘failed’. The Bajrangi Bhaijaan duo Kabir-Salman this time has failed to recreate the magic.

Nathalia Kaur, the Brazilian bombshell who made her cinematic debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Department’, has personified hotness in this latest photo shoot.

Being a fitness freak, the hot lady is the proud owner of sensational curves and she has the audacity to flaunt those toned assets of hers in skimpy outfits. This particular picture where she is seen flaunting her hawt figure from head-to-toe in a bikini, is an outright heart attack inducer.

The adjoining pictures where she is seen rolling at beaches in bikini, striking sexy poses in swimming pool, flaunting eye-popping cleavage etc. are no less hot either.

Police Report: Garuda Vega Producer Absconding In Old Currency Exchange Case

Share

The Task Force police on Friday, in a press meet, confirmed that the two persons who were arrested in the city on Thursday were trying to exchange the Rs 7 crore demonetized currency.

The police earlier arrested Puranam Purushotham (50) and Palati Srinivasa Rao (45), two film production managers red-handed with Rs 7 crore demonetized currency. Upon inquiry, it was unearthed that the money allegedly belonged to M. Koteshwar Raju, a Chennai-based film producer who has been making Telugu and Tamil films on his JyoStar Enterprises banner since 2016. Rajasekhar’s upcoming film ‘PSV Garuda Vega’ is his latest production venture.

Police said both Purushotham and Srinivasa Rao joined JyoStar Enterprises as production managers and have been operating from their Hyderabad office situated at Road no 71, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.

A few days ago, Koteshwar Raju came to Hyderabad and handed over them the Rs 7 crore demonetized currency. He promised them 10% commission for exchanging the full sum. The duo then hid the currency in their office at Jubilee Hills and were searching for persons having connections to exchange the money.

Acting on a tip-off, the Central zone Task Force police nabbed the duo on Thursday. The exact source of money will only be ascertained when the absconding Koteshwar Raju is taken into custody. Manhunt is on for him.

Since one of the arrested production managers, Srinivas Rao happens to be a close aide of Jeevitha-Rajaskehar couple, the incident hogged full media attention.

Harish Shankar’s Punch On DJ Ratings!!

Share

Other days’ release “DJ Duvvada Jagannadham” has received a bag of mixed reviews from all quarters. Though some of the normal public is enjoying the fun factor in the movie, many review writers blasted the film for lack of a fresh story or concept. What has director Harish Shankar to say about this?

“There is no co-relation between Reviews, Ratings and Revenues these days. If you could notice, the websites that gave lowest ratings to DJ Duvvada Jagannadham had given similar ratings to other industry hits and blockbusters. So, ratings don’t define revenues at the box office” says Harish.

He further elaborated, “For example, if we take Dil Raju’s Satamanam Bhavati, the film got below-average ratings, but upon made with 10 crores budget it collected 40 crores. And the same film which didn’t interested reviewers has impressed the jury of National Awards of won the award”. He stated that there is no wrong in reviewing and rating a movie but urged everyone to see that as an individual opinion or just opinion of a couple of guys. “Ratings must not be given a universal status as that is purely based on the individual taste of review writers”.

At the same time, Harish voiced that DJ Duvvada Jaganandham openings are the highest in the career of Bunny and also stressed that the film would be highest grosser in the hero’s career. Producer Dil Raju seconded Harish’s opinion!!
