When a remarkable film is made setting new standards in industry, appreciations pour heavily. As such Gautamiputra Satakarni established new benchmarks among historical high budget films. Director Krish is the person in central focus for Sankranti season and his phone is ringing without a tie gap.
“I didn’t expect this sort of overwhelming response. Everyone in the industry is sending congratulatory messages and I am overjoyed. In my brief career as filmmaker, I never passed through this type of phase in past.
Chiranjeevi garu, Nagarjuna garu and Venkatesh garu, the three pillars of present cinema industry personally called me to extend their warm congratulatory wishes. Mahesh Babu analyzed the film at depth and discussed each scene, dialogue with me. Junior NTR was very excited and we spent quality time after watching the movie. Allu Arjun, Nithin, Ram and many other heroes shared their experience with GPS.
Legendary directors Dasari Narayana Rao garu, K Raghavendra Rao garu appreciated the effort. SS Rajamouli was so kind. Then Sukumar, Surender Reddy, Koratala Siva, Vamshy Paidipally also shared the views. Producer KS Rama Rao called my attempt as brave. I thank entire film industry for supporting me in this endeavor. GPS is our Telugu pride, please support us in maximizing the audience reach,” said Krish.
We have seen how much Ram Charan’s US visit to promote his latest film ‘Dhruva’ helped his film scale his personal best records. Now, Nandamuri Balakrishna is reportedly planning to embark on a similar US journey.
Balayya’s latest release, his 100th film, Gautamiputra Satakarni is raking record moolah in the actor’s career at box office, especially in the US. The historical film has already surpassed $1 million at US box office, registering the senior hero’s name in the million dollar club.
An overwhelmed Balayya, is reportedly panning to fly to the US this week to thank his fans. There is a huge Telugu community in the US and Balayya gets rousing welcome whenever he visits the nation for charity events, to raise funds etc. He commands a great fan following in North America and just one film was needed to convert it into box office numbers.
Balayya’s visit to thank fans will also work as post-release promotions and help the film register further revenue at ticket window. Going by the current trend, $1.5 million is the prediction but who knows, $2 million might also be a possibility after Balayya’s US tour.
Sharwanand and Dil Raju took a brave decision to pit their film Shatamanam Bhavathi against the two biggies, Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna’s movies this Sankranthi.
However, their confidence paid off and Shatamanam Bhavathi is running well in all centres. In its first weekend, Shatamanam Bhavathi collected a share of 5.74 crores in Andhra, Ceded and Nizam areas.
After collecting 3.03 crores on its opening day in AP and Telangana, Shatamanam Bhavathi held its ground firm and collected 2.71 crores on Sunday, a decent show indeed. Meanwhile, the film has grossed $380,612 in overseas until Sunday.
With decent advance bookings this week, Shatamanam Bhavathi is surely heading to become Sharwa’s highest ever grossing movie.
Here’s the area wise breakdown of Shatamanam Bhavathi’s 2 day collections:
Before the release of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s highly-anticipated 100th movie, Gautamiputra Satakarni, all eyes were on his nephew NTR. Fans were curious to see if NTR would talk about his Babai’s movie.
Much to the thrill of both the fans, NTR wished his Babai and his historic movie on the eve of its release. Since then, fans are excited once again to see NTR’s reaction on the movie.
Finally, NTR broke the silence and tweeted, “Just finished watching #GPSK all I can say Saho #NBK Saho @DirKrish and Saho to the whole team of #GPSK”.
In a true honour to the film which showcased the glory of Telugu emperor and valor. Needless to say that fans are overjoyed with Abbai saying “Saho NBK”!

Beautiful Tamil actress Trisha Krishnan was forced by her own people to temporarily deactivate her twitter account on Sunday. She had a massive 3.2 million followers.
Trisha on Saturday was mobbed by angry protesters at the shooting location of her film after her statement against ‘Jallikattu’, the traditional bull taming sport conducted by Tamil people during the Pongal festival.
On Saturday, there was a tweet from Trisha’s official account, “I’m a Tamilian and I support @peta @petaindia cruelty to animals no matter how old the traditions are is no justification. #BanJallikattu.”
“Disrespecting a woman and her family is Tamil culture? You should be ashamed to call yourself a Tamilian or even speak about Tamil culture,” Trisha posted after she was flooded with hate messages and trolls on social media.
She claimed that her account was hacked and lodged a police complaint too. Even after the Kollywood fraternity including Kamal Haasan came to her support saying she expressed her opinion and that she shouldn’t be targeted, the abuse on social media didn’t cease. Finally, Trisha had to deactivate her twitter account.
It may be noted that PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) had obtained a Supreme Court order against conducting Jallikattu and ever since the organization became an enemy of sorts for Tamil people.
Kangana Ranaut is known for her film projects as well as her fashion sense. The actress says it was not a “conscious leap” to come forward as a style icon. The actress also said she has been experimental with her looks since her growing up days.”I started as a small town girl and it was not a conscious leap where I decided that ‘Okay fine, I have to emerge as this style icon’. While growing up, I was quite experimental with my looks. It was not like that I didn’t stand out back home in my little village where I grew up,” Kangana told IANS.
“In fact, my fashion sense was quite outrageous. I remember wearing torn shorts and straw hat and going to market, which sort of scandalised everyone,” she added.
The 29-year-old is known for films like “Gangster – A Love Story”, “Fashion”, “Queen”, “Tanu Weds Manu” and “Tanu Weds Manu Returns”. She is now being lauded for her look in her forthcoming film “Rangoon” — Vishal Bhardwaj’s period drama set in the 1940s amidst the turmoil of India’s Independence struggle.
The actress said her father was not happy with her style while growing back.”I remember my father being extremely upset with what I wore and how I carried myself. He didn’t approve of it. But I just thought that it was none of his business and I did what I liked anyway.”
“I think that was the phase where a child tries something and everybody sort of doesn’t give the right reaction,” said the National Award winning actress. After “Rangoon“, she will be seen in “Rani Lakshmi Bai” and “Simran“.
Aamir Khan’s Dangal which released on December 23rd is still doing well at the box office even after the end of its 3 weeks run. The movie now entered 700 crores gross club worldwide within 23 days.

However, Aamir Khan is the only actor in the India who has films in his account which entered Rs 700 crore club. Going by the trend, the Trade experts predict that Dangal can enter Rs 800 crores club in its final run and it needs to collect Rs 37 crores to cross “PK” movie collections of Rs 740 crores gross. So let’s wait and see how much the movie collects in its further run at the box office.
Khaidi No.150 and Gautamiputra Satakarni are phenomenally doing well at the Box Office. With both the biggies Chiru & Balayya, easily these two films have become talking point in industry circles.
While almost all the stars in the industry have managed to watch both these films and expressed their experience, only missing are Pawan Kalyan, Jr NTR.
Even Mahesh Babu has stated that he watched both the film and heaped praises on both Balayya, Chiranjeevi.
Apparently, Pawan had watched Khaidi but he neither tweeted nor commented about the film.
On other hand, Jr NTR’s silence indicate that he hasn’t watched Gautamiputra Satakarni yet.
Mega fans, who are already unhappy with Pawan’s absence to Khaidi pre-release event, are now fuming on the actor for his no response.
On other hand, Nandamuri fans are angry on Tarak for not saying anything so far.
When Megastar Chiranjeevi was emerging the crazy star hero of Tollywood in early 80s, then top heroine Radhika used to share screen space with the Megastar in many movies. Almost all those films in their combo turned out to be hits and super hits. As such, the combo was treated as one of the best combos of Tollywood.
Radhika happens to be a good family friend of Chiranjeevi. She was excited with the grand comeback of Chiranjeevi with ‘Khaidi Number 150’. “Watching #KaidiNo150 awesome, megastar looks sooper interval fight and scene adhirindhi, whistle &claps galore,” tweeted Radhika the other day, while she was watching the film.
And today, Radhika met Chiranjeevi and congratulated the Megastar on his mega hit. “With the Boss #MegaStarChiranjeevi relaxed Sunday.congrats on the megahit #KhaidiNo150,” posted Radhika after visiting Chiranjeevi and his better half Surekha.
Dil Raju is a true Box Office magician with magical wand in his theater chain. True that Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna are huge stars than Sharwanand and ‘Khaidi No 150, Gauthami Puthra Satakarni’ opened to more positivity than ‘Shatamanam Bhavati’ but that’s not going to be an end for Dil Raju’s film.
Yes, ‘Shatamanam Bhavati’ is edging on the healthy tag of emotional and wholesome family entertainer which has been Dil Raju’s forte from long. More than this, our mighty producer and genius distributor blocked all those high capacity, well equipped theaters in his network only for ‘Shatamanam Bhavati.’
Family audiences prefer to watch films in their nearby locality and in a neatly furnished theater. As such Dil Raju in prior made sure that his film occupies best of the theaters in cities and towns. For example, three to four of the high volume single screens in Punjagutta to Kukatpally belt like Gokul, Sree Ramulu, Vishwanath and Cinepolis are reserved for ‘Shatamanam.’ Revenues from these single screen theaters are more than enough to make the most of Hyderabad collections.
Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman Prof M Kodandaram might not be interested in launching a new political party, but he seems to be determined to pull down the K Chandrasekhar Rao government in Telangana.
On Sunday, Kodandaram called upon the people to strive for a “political change” in the newly formed Telangana state, as the present dispensation has failed to fulfil their aspirations. He wants a replacement of present Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Interestingly, Kodandaram made these observations at a meeting in Mahbubnagar during the 90th day padayatra of Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, while the TRS leaders are accusing him of being the puppet of the Congress party.
He said the people were so desperate that they want a political change in the state and there was a need for overhauling Telangana politics.
Accusing that TRS’s government development model is benefiting few real estate developers, he demanded that the development should be centred on people.
Referring to large number of leaders have been migrating to the ruling party, he accused that they are defecting for the sake of money.
A lot has been said about Megastar Chiranjeevi and his brother Pawan Kalyan before and after the release of Chiru’s Khaidi No.150. The old feud between the Mega brothers came to front when Pawan chose not to attend Khaidi No.150’s pre-release event.
Meanwhile, Khaidi No.150 released a couple of days ago and is zooming past at the box-offices in the two Telugu states and in overseas. In overseas, the movie collected close to $1.82 million and running until today.
This means that Khaidi No.150 has set his eyes on Pawan Kalyan’s Atharintiki Dharedi lifetime gross of $1.87 million. Well, a sweet revenge by Chiru on his brother.
On the other hand, Khaidi No.150 will also surpass NTR’s Janatha Garage’s lifetime overseas gross of $2.03 million without a sweat. With the Chiru storm still going strong, Trivikram’s A..Aa ($2.45 million) is under threat.
While crossing Srimanthudu’s $2.89 million seems to be a possibility, Khaidi No.150 may end up as Tollywood’s second highest grossing movie as overtaking Baahubali ($6.99 million) is a distant dream. Indeed Boss Is Back with a resounding bang.
Ruling TDP and opposition YSRCP are always fighting bitter battles in Andhra Pradesh even after TDP came to power and Chandara Babu became CM of the state. YSRP president Jagan Mohan Reddy without giving breathing time for the new CM started attacking Chandra Babu right from the first day.
As YSRCP leaders took the cue and started attacking TDP government even Chandra Babu and TDP leaders followed suit. Jagan many times went on record that he can topple the government with in one hour but he got huge shock when many of his MLAs ditched him and joined TDP.
Jagan is actively organising various protests across the state on Chandra Babu’s failures and in the midst of all this ,YSRCP leadder Bhumana Karunakar Reddy shocked all saying there is mega plan being hatched to assassinate Jagan.
He even said CM Chandra Babu was behind the plan and alleged that Chandra Babu was behind YSR’s father Rajareddy’s murder. He said Chandra Babu conspired with Congress president Sonia Gandhi to book false cases against Jagan.
Power Star Pawan Kalyan enjoys tremendous fan following among all sections of people in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Pawan who created sensation by launching his own party Jana Sena before the 2014 elections however didnot contest elections but supported TDP-BJP combine.
Pawan who promised that his party is not for power but question the wrong doings after remaining silent for more than 2 years, started showing his power by organising various public meetings and raising questions on various issues like Special Status, Farmers Suicides, Reservations,Demonetisation,Aqua Park, People suffering in Srikakulam etc.
Even as fans are getting excited, Anantapur MP JC.Diwakar Reddy, speaking t scribes said Pawan Kalyan can never become CM of Andhra Pradesh. He said Pawan’s on screen performances in films attract evevryone but he has no scene to become CM in AP political scene.
He said Chandra Babu Naidu will complete Polavaram Project before 2019 elections and welcomed PM Modi’s decision on demonetisation.

In overseas, family entertainer is the most successful genre and the film looks to be cashing on the sentiments of people. By Saturday, the Sharwa starrer has raked in $233K in the US.
The film’s box office numbers are staggering given that it is competing with Chiranjeevi’s ‘Khaidi No.150’ and Balakrishna’s ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’.
With decent word of mouth and Dil Raju’s clever post-release promotional strategy, Shatamanam Bhavati is expected to post a great weekend total. The footfalls on Sunday morning were reported to be encouraging. The real test however will begin on Monday.
This is the real meaning of Sankranti. There is a shining new glow in Telugu states as Telugu audiences are queuing before cinema halls for Gautamiputra Satakarni tickets. Nandamuri Balakrishna’s historical 100th Gautamiputra Satakarni is getting robust each day. After an outstanding first day response, collections are going strong and steady making buyers in all the regions to feel happy.
Producers Rajiv Reddy, Bibo Srinu from First Frame Entertainments banner communicated with the individual distributors and are hereby divulging these statements:
Sai Korrapati (Ceded/Vizag): Ceded territory is a shell tank for Balakrishna. His strong hold in the region made me to bag GPS at fancy prices. The film will breakeven by Sunday and GPS will be into all time top 5 records in this part.
Sudhakar (Krishna/Guntur): I am glad to have distributed the prestigious Balakrishna’s 100th movie made on historical Satavahana subject. Startling response from Krishna and Guntur audience is shattering records. My investment made is safeguarded by this overwhelming public reaction.
Sudhakar Reddy (Nizam): After watching GPS first copy, I’ve forecasted a record run for NBK. Today my words have come true. Financial result is on definite positive side and hopefully excess flows begin from Monday.
Suresh Babu (East): We are moving towards financial overflows. I told producer and my friend Rajiv Reddy to get ready from Monday.
LVR (West): Repeats have started in this region. Balakrishna’s fan frenzy and powerful content is pushing us into gains by today.
Bharat Kumar (Nellore): Never witnessed such huge crowds and exceptional response. Every scene and every dialogue is extolled. Tickets are sold like hotcakes and we are under pressure to increase the screens. Commercially, GPS is first film in Sankranti to have run into profits.
Srujan (Overseas – 9PM): Till date, collections are sustained without any fluctuations. Word of mouth talk and reviews have done a great deal of help. Expecting $2M in the long run and we might bracket into all time top 5 or 6. The film is all set to touch $1M in next couple of hours.
In Australia, UK, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore, buyers are already reaping profits from day 2. GPS is also released on public demand in Japan, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Singapore and few more areas which is unusual for a Telugu film to garner special adoration.
Producers Rajiv Reddy and Bibo Srinu are extending their warm wishes to audience and congratulations to buyers for encouraging their film thus surpassing breakeven records within just four to five days.
After Megastar’s super hit movie Khaidi no 150, Fans rejoiced again with supreme star Sai Dharam Tej’s upcoming flick Winner trailer that released on Sankranthi. As usual Tej looked energetic in this movie. No doubt that his dialogues in this movie will take him to another level.
“Nee lanti vaallu adugaduguna vuntaru, Naa lantodu arudhuga vuntadu. Adhey date, adhey place, adhey time, adhey track, adhey range” is the dialogue said by Sai Dharam tej. The story line is all about the father, and lover and how the hero wins them.
Jagapathi Babu as usual will be a huge plus point for this movie. Earlier Jaggu bhai has teamed up in Sai Dharam tej’s block buster Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham. Jagapathi Babu now a days is selecting characters of his age which seems to be a good sign for him.
Directed by Gopi chand this movie will hit the screens on 24th of next month. Rakul preet is playing the female lead while this movie is being bank rolled by Nallamalapu Srinivas and Tagore Madhu.
We are very much aware that Chiranjeevi’s comeback 150th film ‘Khaidi No 150’ is a remake from Tamil hit ‘Kathi’ but this did not hamper the film’s chances to kick top most industry records with its left leg. Produced by Ramcharan, the craze and hype surrounded this project during crucial pre release times is marvelously turned into Box Office flows as profits are overflowing for Charan for his first time experience as a producer.
If reports are anything to go by, ‘Khaidi No 150’ is made on a very moderate budget of Rs. 20 Crores (definitely excluding Chiranjeevi remuneration because Konidela production house is his own house). Pre release business is already informed to have come close to Rs. 100+ Crores and now profits being assured in many areas, the overall producer’s gain shares are likely again to be increased in coming days.
Chiranjeevi’s charm kept the Fans and common audience bound together making revenues to speak. Breaking into $1M club on day 1 in the US is not a simple achievement. Huge Fan frenzy around the globe for Mega Star proves a fact that Chiru will not stop here and continues with 151st and 152nd very soon.
