Balayya Can't Ask For More

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s monumental film Gautamiputra Satakarni has opened to unanimous positive response all over. Balakrishna totally owning the role of Satakarni, his hold on history, Telugu diction coupled with powerful dialogues by Sai Madhav Burra have all worked in favour of the film.

It’s director Krish who gets the final credit for meticulously crafting and doing extensive research on history. Be it his taking or weaving characters with depth, Krish walks away with all the laurels. His attention to minute details are visible on big screen.

Right from the start to the end, GPSK is totally gripping war drama. The mother and wife sentiment scenes and emotional moments of Satakarni taking his son to war are heart-touching.

The film is flawless and indisputably a masterpiece. As Krish rightly stated in pre-release Interviews, no one would have aptly suited for Satakarni, it also applies to Krish. Probably no other director would had made it better than this.

Krish has done 100 percent justification to Balayya’s 100 making it memorable for both Balayya as well as his fans. Certainly, Balayya and fans can’t ask for more.

Natasimham Nandamuri Balakrishna’s ‘Gauthamiputra Satakarni’ hit the cinemas today. Balakrishna watched the film along with film’s director Krish and ace director Rajamouli in Bhramarambha theater of Kukatpalli, Hyderabad. Since Rajamouli has good terms with Balakrishna and the TDP, the director might have extended his support to team GPS.

When Balakrishna was asked his talk after watching the film, the Natasimham said the film was superb. In the meanwhile, the makers are planning special screening of the film which might be invited by Telangana CM KCR. It is a known news that both the Telugu states exempted entertainment tax for the film.

Hema Malini reprized the role of Balakrishna’s mother in the film while Shriya Sharan romanced with Balakrishna. Chirantan Bhatt has composed the music of the film. Krish has produced the film on First Frame Entertainment. Rajiv Reddy is the co-producer.

Khaidi Release: Senior Fans Remembering Childhood

khaidi

This happens to be the rarest of the rare joyous moment experienced by senior mega fans across the globe. Some of the super senior mega fans recognized the spark in Chiranjeevi in his debut film ‘Pranam Khareedhu’, itself, released in 1978. From then on, Chiranjeevi’s image grew by leaps and bounds with every film of his. Eventually, the number of fans has also increased tremendously.

Senior fans of Chiranjeevi were at their childhood stage when Chiranjeevi was ruling the roost of his career with nonstop hits, super hits and blockbusters in 1980s and 90s.  All those kids, who are at their middle age now, are recollecting their childhood days interlinking with Chiranjeevi’s films releases and their successes those days. It was spotted at ‘Khaidi Number 150’s theaters those seniors were seen celebrating the moment recalling their childhood days while other seniors were seen revealing young fans how Chiranjeevi would pulverize records at box office those days.

When no mobile phones were available in those days, fans would learn the status of records of other centers through letter correspondence. No audio launch events were organized by the filmmakers those days. As and when audio cassettes hit the markets directly, fans were seen forming the queues outside audio shops to buy them.

Gautamiputra Satakarni Movie Review and Rating

Share

Gautamiputra Satakarni has been talk of the industry ever since the project was announced. After contemplating various projects, Balakrishna finally chose this one as his hundredth film. The film is about unsung warrior from Satavahana dynasty of the 2nd century CE. Krish took up the challenge of bringing Satakarni to life in this epic drama and has come out in flying colors.

Story :

Satakarni (Balakrishna) dreams of seeing entire country as one kingdom under one king. He goes on waging wars against many kings to become that ultimate power. In the process, differences crop up between him and his wife Vasishti (Shriya). Taking his mother’s advice, Satakarni decides to put an end to his endless warfare by waging one last war for peace.

Performances:

Balakrishna:The veteran actor is destined to do this character. We cannot imagine any other actor in the role of Satakarni as there is not a single wrong note in Balakrishna’s performance. His superb dialogue delivery and his command over language is a great asset to the film. He has put in a lot of efforts to finish this grueling film in seventy working days.

Other actors:Shriya is beautiful as the Queen. Shriya’s performance is noteworthy as a caring mother who stands against her stubborn husband. Hema Malini is fine as the Rajamatha. We expect her to play a significant role in the film, but her character is very limited. Kabeer Bedi gets a meaty role as Nahapana. Shivaraj Kumar did a cameo as the storyteller.

Technicalities:

Krish’s passion for cinema is unparalleled. He thrives to offer different entertainment to film lovers with each and every film. Handling a film like Gautamiputra Satakarni is a challenge to any director. Krish delivered a quality product with limited budget and in a short span of time. This shows his command over various crafts.

Dialogues by Sai Madhav Burra stand as the highlight of the film. Rajamouli rightly said Burra’s pen is Satakarni’s sword in Gautamiputra Satakarni. He has written brilliant lines like “Odincha.. maraledu, kshamincha.. maraledu, vadhincha.. ika maralsina avasaram ledu”, “tala dinchaku, adi nenu gelichina tala” all through the film. Music by Chirrantan Bhatt complements the genre and era of the film. Ekimeeda, Saho Sarvabhouma and Mriganayana songs will be liked by the music lovers. Background score could have been better. Editing is crisp. Visual effects are decent. Art department did a fine job with the production design. Cinematography is topnotch. Production values are fine.

Thumbs Down:

Analysis:

What’s special about Gautamiputra Satakarni is not many know the exact story of the greatest emperor. Krish and his team of writers did their bit of research and have come up with a screenplay that suits the image of Balakrishna. Main focus of the film is on highlighting the heroics of the unsung emperor. The film hooks the audience straightaway with interesting takeoff.

Entire first half runs in two major episodes. Satakarni taking his son to the war and his war against Nahapana army is the highpoint in the first half. More than eighty percent of the first half is covered in this episode. Interval scene is good and will surely give a high for audience.

Second half slows down with family drama taking the front seat for a while. Movie ends with another lengthy war scene, which turns slightly boring due to too much of warfare that it offers already. A scene where Satakarni shows utmost respect to his mother gives insight about the emperor’s ideologies, though few more could have been added to elevate.

As Krish’s prime focus is on establishing the valor of the emperor, people that go to the movie to know details about Gautamiputra Satakarni will be left a little disappointed. Although the war scenes have some superb moments, that run time could have been shared to bring on more details of the actual story of Satakarni. Also the songs between the lead pair slowed the pace down.

Despite a few shortcomings and the cinematic liberties, Satakarni scores because of Balakrishna’s towering performance, Burra’s praiseworthy writing and Krish’s directorial brilliance. It is certainly a welcome change for film buffs amid routine masala fare. It is a one of its kind of cinematic experience that cannot be missed. Go watch it.

Verdict: Balakrishna’s Memorable Century.

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s comeback movie ‘Khaidi Number 150’ hit the screens today across the globe in record number of screens everywhere and garnered positive reports from the audience. Chiranjeevi’s terrific screen presence is said to be the highlight of this film. Ever since Chiranjeevi left Tollywood, ten years ago, industry appeared to have missed a perfect all-rounder who can deliver top notch performance with dances, fights and all elements of acting.

And the vintage Chiranjeevi is back with a bang with the same energy as he had left the industry 10 years ago. The movie has neither extraordinary visuals nor outstanding sets to mesmerize the audience. But then, Chiranjeevi, himself, made audience felt jaw dropping moments with his tremendous ease in graceful dances, fights and performance. Shoelace step of ‘Sundari’ song is just enough to say there no competitor for Chiranjeevi in dances. His teasing dialogues with heroine and emotional performance in media interview scene showcased his command on acting expertise.

Kajal Aggarwal, as usually, looked gorgeous and was the best choice to be seen opposite Chiranjeevi. Brahmanandam and Ali were given given important roles and they did justice to their roles. Devi Sri Prasad’s songs and BGM make the film a musical hit. Rathnavelu’s camera work is outstanding. Coin fight and interval block scene were the best action moments in the film. Mega Power Star Ram Charan was seen in a dance moment in ‘Ammadu’ song. Both Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan looked like brothers in the scene.

At the box office, it appeared breaking previous records would be a cake walk for the film. Yet again, let’s wait for few more days how well the film performs at the box office.

Guru Teaser: Powerful Punches

The new teaser of Venkatesh’s new film Guru released on Tuesday and is packed with powerful punches from both – actress Ritika Singh and her Guru, Daggubati Venkatesh.

The boxing-drama is a remake of R Madhavan’s Saala Khadoos, which also released in Tamil as Irudhi Suttru in 2016.

Ritika Singh reprises her role in the Telugu version of Madhavan’s bi-lingual film, helmed by director Sudha Kongara, who also holds the reigns for Telugu film Guru.

Venkatesh features in the role of a boxing coach, who appears to show very little mercy on the training floor and no mercy at all at the boxing ring.

Fans Happy, Voters Relieved!

Share

chiru

The return of megastar Chiranjeevi to the film industry with his 150th film Khaidi No. 150 and the tremendous positive talk it has generated from the first show itself has brought a lot of cheers to his fans and at the same time, it has also brought a lot of relief to common people as voters.

For the fans, the success of Khaidi No. 150 would mean Chiranjeevi is back with bang. He will be in the industry for some more years to come as they are sure the megastar is not going to be content with doing just 150th film.

He has already announced that he has already signed a couple of films and that would take him through 2018. And there is every possibility that he will continue to do films thereafter if not in the same pace.

If Chiranjeevi becomes busy with his films, then it will be good news even for voters. For, the megastar has not been as successful in politics as he was/is in films.

He made an experiment with Praja Rajyam Party with the slogan of bringing change in politics, but it turned out be a big flop.

Finally, he had to merge the party lock, stock and barrel with the Congress, which has lost its ground and glory in Andhra Pradesh, thanks to bifurcation.

If Chiranjeevi wants to establish his own mark in the industry without the Congress party, people won’t believe him and it would be yet another blunder.

So, it is better the megastar continues in films and win the love and affection of the fans, rather than spoiling his image in dirty politics!

Khaidi: Prudhvi Scene Missed In US Premieres

Share

pruthvi

Few days before Khaid’s release, it was speculated that Prudhvi’s role was deleted from the film due to its run time. Saddened Prudhvi took to online to express his grief and equated it with his mother’s death.

This was picked up by media and it got to the notice of Chiru & Vinayak. After this, Chiru told Vinayak to include Prudhvi too in the movie and it was incorporated by Vinayak. None other than Vinayak himself stated it on record.

But after film’s release one is wondering that Prudhvi’s bit in the film is hardly a minute and it definitely looks like cameo. Prudhvi’s seen as a minister who rejects to help farmers in the movie.

Though this is retained in the film, it’s only seen in the domestic market as audience who watched the film in US, other overseas report that the film doesn’t have Prudhvi. All they say is they could see only Prudhvi in the end credits there.

Looks like, Chiru did it only to wipe out Prudhvi’s tears in the last hour. On other hand, Allu Arjun’s cameo too not there in film leaving his fans disappointed.

Venkatesh Guru Teaser Review

guru

Apparently, Victory Venkatesh’s ‘Guru’ has an inspiring content and the new teaser of the film indicates it. The production team has unveiled new teaser of the film which marks Venkatesh’s commendable performance as a boxing coach.

We’ll also witness Ritika Singh’s hard practice to become the champion. Her coach seems to be the  tough task master such a way she practices hard to get her goal achieved. Nasser appears to have played a crucial role in the film.

“Meeru nenu cheppindey vintaru..cheppindhey thintaru. Illoo, vakilee, prema, doma, cheththa, chedharam annee pakkana petti vollu vanchi try cheyyandi,” a dialogue uttered by Venkatesh accosts the kind of intensity he had as a coach with killer instinct making his proteges the champion. The film is hitting cinemas on 26 January. Satish Vegnesha has helmed the project.

Khaidi No 150 – an Anti-TDP Government Film?

chiru

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Prestigious 150th film, Khaidi No 150 has released worldwide across the globe. The Big Boss is in the process of repairing all the existing records. The first day Overseas Premiere record is almost gettable while the first day AP+Nizam is also very much possible.

Kaththi is a film about farmers problems. Khaidi No 150 is tweaked to take a dig against TDP government at many places. The dialogues were intentionally written to tarnish the image of the AP Government. In one scene, there is a direct attack on Raithu Runa Mafi by Chiranjeevi.

Probably, Chiranjeevi in this way is balancing movies and Politics. In various promotional interviews of the movie as well, the actor has taken a dig on various policies of the government. Congress and Mega fans will enjoy them. We will have to see how common audience will react to that.
