Indian media ‘stirring up’ negative sentiments: Chinese daily

Blaming Indian media for “stirring up” negative sentiments against China by highlighting the “divergences” in ties, a state-run Chinese daily said on Monday that the press on both sides should be cautious about attempts by the West to drive a “wedge” between the two countries.Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi paid a visit to India on Friday. As a number of media outlets reported, the tour was focused on cooperation over the upcoming G20 and BRICS summits, an op-ed article in the Global Times said.

‘Coming up with eye-catching headline’

“However, quite a few Indian media started to cover the tour a week ago with the eye-catching headline ‘China blocked India’s NSG bid, but now wants help on South China Sea’,” said the article titled ‘Indian media should view Beijing-Delhi ties constructively.’“After negative hype over Sino-Indian ties by Indian media for a long time, it is not hard to envisage that they did it again this time. Yet while they grab all the attention they want like always, they have also caused a deterioration in the Indian public’s views of China,” it said.

“Puzzles unresolved in ties”

“Given the recent frictions between the two countries, including the NSG issue and New Delhi’s rejection of visa extension requests for Chinese reporters, there are indeed certain puzzles left unresolved in the bilateral relationship. But they can hardly represent the big picture of Sino-Indian ties,” it said. The article, though, praised the efforts being made by both the governments to address the issues in bilateral ties.

‘Enhancing collaboration’

“Thanks to the efforts of governments from both parties, the two nations have been enhancing collaboration and promoting more communications and mechanisms over bilateral, regional issues.“Yet while the Indian government is treating its relations with Beijing rationally, the country’s media and public opinion are busy stirring up negative sentiments. They tend to attach more attention to divergences while overstating contradictions between the two,” it said.

Worlds like ‘invasion’ or ‘transgression’

“Words like ‘invasion’ or ‘transgression’ are often used by them to describe Beijing without naming sources, and the ’China threat theory’ has been hyped up by them from time to time,” it said.“Clearly, the Indian media has not yet learned to see the considerable potential of the bilateral relationships with a constructive mindset,” it said.

‘Both sides need development’

It is important for the Indian media to remember that development and prosperity are needed by both sides and they need a stable environment for that, it has said.“The West is taking delight in driving a wedge between Beijing and New Delhi. Media from both countries should therefore be more cautious not to fall for that,” it said.

Microsoft bought Skype for $8.5 billion in 2011 but it is now going to kill it altogether after a few months. The software giant has announced that gadgets running certain versions of operating system, be it Windows, Android or iOS, will not be able to access the app early next year.

Microsoft had said in July that it will stop Skype support for older apps, citing that it is moving to mobile-friendly cloud architecture. It said that moving to cloud will not only bring new features like mobile group video calling, Skype Translator and Skype Bots but also improve existing features like file sharing and video messaging.

However, the company has now said that Skype will be killed early next year. It has announced that the app support for Windows RT, Mac OS X 10.6 and below, Windows Phone 8, Windows Phone 8.1, Android 4.0.2 and below, and iOS 7 and below will be stopped from October but will “continue to work (possibly with some limitations) until early 2017” by which time moving Skype calling to the cloud is expected to be completed.

The move will affect 80 percent of Windows Phone users, as a large number of people use handsets running Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. It will also affect Windows RT, Android and iOS users. To have access to the latest versions of Skype, one has to upgrade OS, like iOS 8 or higher, Mac OS X 10.9 or higher, and Android 4.0.3 or higher.

Reliance Jio 4G services haven’t still been started commercially, but they are already the hottest topic for discussion in the telecom world. Rivals are feeling threatened by the upcoming Jio services in India, while consumers can enjoy the fastest mobile browsing and download for free.

Reliance is offering a 90-day preview offer of its Jio 4G service to those who purchase a LYF smartphone and on select third-party smartphones, such as Samsung Galaxy series. We reviewed a few devices compatible with Reliance Jio and found the download and browsing speeds to be incredible. Moreover, there is no limit on how much data we are using despite the service being offered for free.

While consumers can get a budget LYF smartphone for as low as Rs. 2,999 and use the hotspot to grant free Wi-Fi access to up to 10 devices, Reliance has launched just the device we need. The all-new JioFi MiFi device is now available in Reliance Digital, Digital Xpress and Digital Xpress Mini stores, and it is sold without invites, Phone Radar reported.Reliance JioFi MiFi 4G device costs Rs. 2,899, and comes with a Jio 4G SIM, which is activated with Jio preview offer. As most of us are aware, the Jio preview offer gives 90 days of unlimited voice calls, 4G data, SMS and access to Jio suite of apps.

Relince JioFi is a tiny hotspot device, which lets users connect up to 31 devices simultaneously. With LYF smartphones, one can only connect up to 10 devices, but they get the benefit of unlimited calls and SMS. But from our network testing, the voice calling is not as reliable as the 4G high-speed data.According to media reports, Reliance is commercially launching its Jio 4G services across major cities in India on Monday, Aug. 15, but only for prepaid customers. Postpaid customers will have to wait until later this year for the services.

Mumbai: Fiery Kangna Ranaut, having left all her detractors in ashes (or certainly ashen-faced), has now decided to go beyond her marquee appeal it seems.

Rather like her friend Aamir Khan, the female actor has taken to espousing social causes.Besides the recent Swachha Bharat campaign, she has also featured in a music video for Independence Day called ‘Love Your Country’.

We’re told the lady did this one die gratis, which is rather a remarkable gesture. But do we hear the call of politics next?

Mahatma Gandhi’s role in Freedom struggle

gandhi

One of the greatest men in the history of India is unarguably Mahatma Gandhi. The way he gave shape and character to India’s freedom struggle is worthy of a standing ovation. He sacrificed his own life for the sake of his country. The respect that he earned for himself despite leading a simple lifestyle is much appreciable.

Mahatma Gandhi played a pivotal role in the freedom struggle of India. His non violent ways and peaceful methods were the foundation for gaining independence from the British. Gandhi took his time to grow and develop his techniques to ensure that his actions made an impact. His faith in different religions was commendable. His listened to the teachings of Christianity with the same belief and faith he read the Hindu scriptures with. One of the first series of non violent protests nationwide was the non cooperation movement started by Mahatma Gandhi. This movement officially started the Gandhian era in India. In this freedom struggle, the non cooperation movement was basically aimed at making the Indians aware of the fact that the British government can be opposed and if done actively, it will keep a check on them.

After the Quit India Movement the freedom struggle got even more intense and passionate. Entire India was united together in the movement for freedom. Everyone contributed what they could in the freedom struggle. The cry of Purna Swaraj or complete independence was raised. After much sacrifices and efforts, India gained its independence on the 15th August, 1947.
