Previously, horror films used to focus more on thrilling elements. But today’s horror films are a mix of comedy, romance and scary moments. Trisha’s upcoming film ‘Nayaki’ too falls under this category as the trailer suggests. As per reports this film may face tough competition now.

The audio launch of this film was held in May. But, due to some reasons, the film got delayed. Reports suggest that ‘Nayaki’ will be released on July 8th. On the same day, anchor turned actor Rashmi is coming up with her film ‘Antham’. Rashmi is known for oozing glamour and the trailer of ‘Antham’ indicates the same. Trisha’s ‘Nayaki’ may have the edge because of the star value but if the film gets average response then ‘Antham’ may cause more damage to the film.

Trisha is now a fading star and ‘Nayaki’ is an important film for her. So, we need to wait and see which of these glamour dolls comes out as a winner.

At least 10 countries opposed India’s NSG entry bid in Seoul, says Global Times editorial

Share

opp

At least 10 countries opposed India’s bid to join the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), an editorial in China’s state-run “Global Times” on Tuesday said. It rejected accusations in India that Beijing was solely responsible for quashing New Delhi’s bid to join the 48-member nuclear club.“The NSG had a plenary meeting in Seoul last week, and all members participated in a special conference on Thursday evening about the accession of non-participants of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) into the NSG. At least 10 countries, including China, opposed their bid,” said the edit.

The daily stressed that lack of India’s membership of the NPT — the cornerstone of NSG membership — was the chief obstacle in New Delhi’s path to becoming a member of the nuclear club.“Since its foundation in 1975, all NSG members shall be NPT signatories. This has become the primary principle of the organisation. Now India wants to be the first exception to join the NSG without signing the NPT. It is morally legitimate for China and other members to upset India’s proposal in defense of principles,” it said.

The write-up attributed mainstream India’s sharp reaction to the rejection of New Delhi’s membership application in Seoul to the sustained “adulation” of India by the western powers. It said, “Recent years have seen the Western world giving too many thumbs up to India, but thumbs down to China. India is spoiled. Although the South Asian country’s GDP accounts for only 20 per cent of that of China, it is still a golden boy in the eyes of the West, having a competitive edge and more potential compared to China. The international ‘adulation’ of India makes the country a bit smug in international affairs.”

‘The U.S. is not the whole world’

It observed that India had “ignored” that the United States, which has supported New Delhi NSG bid, was not in a position to commandeer the global agenda. “[The] U.S. backing adds the biggest impetus to India’s ambition. By cozying up to India, Washington’s India policy actually serves the purpose of containing China.”Highlighting the limitations of Washington’s powers, the daily said: “The U.S. is not the whole world. Its endorsement does not mean India has won the backing of the world. This basic fact, however, has been ignored by India”.

The editorial made two additional points. First it stressed that “nationalists” in India were yet to develop a mindset befitting the citizenry of a “major power.”“Some Indians are too self-centred and self-righteous. On the contrary, the Indian government behaves decently and is willing to communicate. Throwing a tantrum won’t be an option for New Delhi. India’s nationalists should learn how to behave themselves. Now that they wish their country could be a major power, they should know how major powers play their games,” it said.

Second, the write-up contrasted the response by a section of people in India to the popular reaction in China, to Beijing’s inability to become a member of the Missile Technology Control Regime. “On Monday, the Missile Technology Control Regime absorbed India as a new member, and denied China’s access. The news didn’t even make a ripple among the Chinese public. The Chinese have become more mature in dealing with these setbacks caused by international relations.”

Warner Bros. moving forward with live-action adaptation of ‘Akira,’ to be directed by Justin Lin of ‘The Fast and the Furious’ fame?

The live-action adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo’s popular manga “Akira” has been a subject of speculation for years. It seems that the movie is about to be materialised now, and a well-known director has been approached for the movie by Warner Bros. The project has been delayed numerous times, with talks featuring two directors, one co-financier, and a half dozen screenwriters, since Warner Bros. acquired the live-action rights in 2008.

The movie first got the green light in 2011 with plans for Jaume Collet-Serra to direct the movie and Garrett Hedlund of “Tron: Legacy” fame to appear as the protagonist, Kaneda. However, as reported by Comic Book Resources, Warner Bros. stopped the production less than three months later due to several issues related to the budget and casting. The project resurfaced again, in 2013. Collet-Serra was still attached as the director. Much to the fans’ disappointment, it was halted for a second time, less than two years after the first aborted take-off. Last year, latest developments began when “Daredevil” show-runner Marco Ramirez approached the studio to look at the script.

The latest rumours state that Warner Bros. is eyeing “Star Trek Beyond” and “The Fast and the Furious” director Justin Lin to helm the “Akira” project. The rumour originated from “Meet the Movie Press” where Variety alum and host of the show, Jeff Sneider, stated that though “Akira” no longer has a cast attached, it does have a new script and will be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions.

Lin is also signed by Warner Bros. to direct “Space Jam 2,” and Sneider has hinted that the studio might shuffle the schedules, once Lin is confirmed for “Akira.””All I know is that Warner Bros. really seems to believe in Justin Lin, and he is the target to direct ‘Akira’ at this time,” Sneider said.

Despite the smartphone revolution, majority of the Indian households still use a landline to make calls. The major reason is the ease of use, especially for the elders and secondly it gives businessmen a chance to share their business number while keeping their personal mobile number private.

How often have you thought that it would have been nice if you could answer your landline calls when you are not at home? Surprisingly, there is way. A new gadget in the market will help answer your landline calls even when you are not at home or office. The device, Voice Bridge, uses your home/office Wi-Fi network to route landline calls to a smartphone. At present, you can only use the landline from your smartphone provided that your smartphone and landline needs to be connected to the same wireless network at home/office. However, a new update will change things and allow you to connect over the internet.

Voice Bridge is a device that sits in your home and act as a bridge, connecting your smartphone and your landline over your home Wi-Fi network. An Android or iOS app allows you to make and receive landline calls on your smartphone, and also sends notifications for calls missed on your landline.

Voice Bridge is available from two manufacturers, Invoxia and Swissvoice.Invoxia is planning to release an update by the end of this month, which allows you to make calls with your landline number from any Wi-Fi, via the internet, without relying only on your home Wi-Fi network. While the Swissvoice’s Voice Bridge retails at a price $80 (approximately Rs 5,500) the Invoxia Voice Bridge is priced $99 (approximately Rs 6,500) on Amazon.
