Chennai: Proving exit polls wrong, Tamil Nadu’s ruling AIADMK appeared set to retain power on Thursday, with its candidates on the winning track in 136 of the 232 constituencies. In contrast to widespread expectations that it may seize power, the DMK-Congress alliance was leading only in 86 constituencies, far short of the half-way mark of 117.The PMK led in five places and the DMDK alliance in two. Smaller parties were ahead in three seats. Polling was postponed in two constituencies by the Election Commission. Most exit polls after voting ended on May 16 had predicted a DMK win.The imminent victory set off noisy celebrations outside AIADMK leader and Chief Minister J.
Jayalalithaa’s residence here as well as at party offices across the state.Holding Jayalalithaa’s portraits, supporters — many of them women — danced to music and burst firecrackers. Many distributed sweets and raised slogans hailing the chief minister. In contrast, the mood was gloomy at the DMK headquarters although it was poised to win many more seats than it did in 2011.The AIADMK had 150 members in the outgoing assembly. The DMK had 23 and the Congress five, indicating the alliance had major gains but not enough to unseat Jayalalithaa.
The bad news for the AIADMK came from Chennai, which was battered by flash floods in December and whose voters appeared to have overwhelmingly turned against the ruling party.According to counting trends, AIADMK candidates were trailing behind the DMK in 12 of the 16 constituencies in the capital. Jayalalithaa, however, led in the city’s Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency. The DMK had in its election campaign played up the havoc caused by the floods.
The AIADMK fielded 227 candidates, leaving seven seats for its allies. But all of them contested with the AIADMK symbol two leaves.
Dance is the first thing that is highly expected from any movie of Allu Arjun, but his dances are not versatile or tough these days. When asked about the same, Bunny decided to put an end to these expectations. Allu Arjun knows very well that audience and fans expect wonderful moves in his songs and he admits trying different dances in past movies. He admits trying difference dance style for each song in a film and slowly that dropped down to one song, which he wanted to be good enough to satisfy audience.
Bunny laughs out saying that he got bored of his own dances as he already tried turning his body in 360 degrees for it and he just wanted to change the style and format of dancing. He also wants the choreographers to come up with innovative ideas.
Though he wanted to try new styles in dance, Allu Arjun believes that acting can impress audience, than what a dance does. Bunny pops the bubble finally saying that he may not surprise audience with his dances anymore. So anyone out there still watching his films for typical dance moves can just look forward for his acting from now.
It was all about exchanging harsh comments and taking sides when we hear about Nadigar Sangam elections few months back in Tamil film association. Hero Vishal along with Karthi and Nasser locked horns with seniors like Sarath Kumar and finally won the elections. Well, Vishal reveals what was it all about and what really is happening now.
Vishal speaks how his opinions varied from that of Sarath kumar about helping the thousands of poor senior artists when they could not build a Nadigar Sangam building through which many were planned to get pensions to live with. The difference is visible with new general secretary Vishal and new treasurer Karthi as they cleared Rs. 2 Cr loan and already accumulated Rs 9 Cr through star cricket match for construction of Nadigar Sangam building.
As a second initiative to build a state of the art auditorium and other cultural buildings in a vast 110 acres, Vishal and Karthi decided to act free for a film to fill the shortage of some Rs 26 Cr. These young heroes even cut down their sleeping hours to work more on these developments. That shows the true dedication of young Tamil stars in a true intention to help the poor artists and hope they achieve what they started.

The Telangana Congress party has come out with a strange appeal to all its party cadre not to subscribe to Namasthe Telangaana Telugu daily and watch T-News channel, as they are spreading canards against the party. The daily and the channel are owned by Telagnana Rashtra Samithi president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his family and are out-and-out mouth pieces of TRS. Naturally, they try to promote the TRS and run down the other parties, including the TDP and the Congress.
One wonders whether the Telangana Congress party’s call to the cadre to ban KCR’s media houses will serve any purpose. In Andhra Pradesh, too, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu has given a similar call to the people to boycott Sakshi for making allegations against him and the TDP. But people continue to patronise Sakshi. So, it is doubtful whether Congress party’s call to boycott KCR media will have any takers. After all, one cannot control the media by making such appeals.
In any case, the media in Telangana and AP are polarised; they are inclined to one party or the other. In Telangana, almost all the media houses have surrendered to the TRS and KCR. So, what is the point in banning the media? If the Congress feels it is being neglected by the media, it has to start its own media house and propagate its agenda. Is there any other option?
As the D-day has arrived, the counting of votes in the high-stakes Assembly elections in the states of Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, West Bengal, Kerala, Assam and in the by-poll of Paleru in Telangana has begun. In contrast to exit polls predictions, Jayalalithaa’s AIADMK is leading in Tamil Nadu Assembly polls whereas opposition Karunanidhi-led DMK is trailing. In Assam, Lotus is blooming as BJP is racing towards the victory and its arch rival Congress is on the verge of losing.
Moving on to West Bengal, as expected, Mamata Banaerjee is heading towards victory over CPI(M)-Congress. CPI(M) which had ruled West Bengal for over 3 decades. However, there is a brief respite for communists as their LDF is leading in Kerala. In by-polls of Telangana, minister Tummala Nageswar Rao of TRS has majority of votes against to Congress candidate Sucharita Reddy, widow and wife of late Ram Reddy Venkat Reddy. While it’s a triangular fight with TRS, Congress, CPI(M) fielding its candidates, CPI(M) is no where close to the other candidates.
As people unanimously rejected Congress in states like Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Paleru (Telanagana), the only state where it’s having some relief is Pondicherry. Unlike other states, Pondicherry is Union Territory directly ruled by the Union government.Congress-led front (Congress-DMK) has won 5 seats and leading in 2, AINRC won in 2 seats and leading in four other seats whereas AIADMK won 1 seat, others leading in another seat
As expected ‘Brahmotsavam’ is a complete family entertainer. The film has a dream cast with consists of seasoned actors like Jayasudha, Satyaraj, Revathi and many others. Mahesh Babu said that everything was fine but the main problem was with its heroines.
He explained that after roping in Samantha and Pranitha, we approached other heroines for Kajal’s role. After listening that there were two heroines already, many of them rejected this film even without listening to the story. After getting rejected by many heroines, the script went into the hands of Kajal. When she listened the script, she was impressed by it and immediately accepted the film.
This made the makers very happy and Mahesh thanked Kajal and Samantha for accepting this roles. But, rejecting a film without listening to the script is something awkward. Isn’t it?
