The Telangana governance has given permission for the construction of an international cricket stadium in Warangal and the proposal was submitted to the government by the Warangal district administration in February this year, and it has been cleared by the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

The proposed cricket stadium will be the second international cricket stadium in the state and the first being the Rajiv Gandhi international cricket stadium which is located at Uppal in Hyderabad. Warangal lags way behind the capital on all fronts and the state government has been devising grand plans to develop it into an IT, sports and education hub and an international textile city is also coming up in Warangal.

The Warangal district administration has identified 16 acres in Timmapur village on the city’s outskirts and has submitted proposals and the CM has given in principle approval and has asked the sports department to approach BCCI for necessary financial assistance. The government is also ready to allot funds for stadium as part of Warangal Special Development Authority.

The government has already submitted proposals to Centre to revive the non-functional airport in Warangal, by offering additional land and the officials has said that the identified location has the advantage of being near to the old airport and Fourth Police Battalion, which would provide air connectivity and security to stadium.

What seemed like a freaky road mishap is now shrouded with doubts and allegations of murder. The tragic death of the young Hyderabadi engineering student Katkuri Devi who was allegedly killed in a car accident on Sunday night is taking a new turn with each passing day.Yesterday, Devi’s parents and a large group of her friends carried out protests alleging that Bharat Simha Reddy and two other youths who were allegedly in the same car with Devi might have killed her. Devi’s father alleged that the police officials are trying to shield the culprits.

Meanwhile, the police department has taken the matter quite seriously and a top cop who was investigating the accident has been replaced and a re-inqury has been going on from the scratch, following Devi’s parents complaint. Forensic and automobile experts have been called in to assist in the investigation.CCTV footage and Devi and the suspects’ call history are being examined to trace out the facts.

The first account information produced by a watchman of a nearby apartment where the incident took place is playing a crucial role. According to the eyewitness, Devi tried to escape from the car and cried for help, but a man, suspected to be Bharat Simha Reddy, dragged has back into the car and fled the spot even as Devi continued to hit the car windows for help.

It has been long time since one had heard of Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy, the last Chief Minister of erstwhile integrated Andhra Pradesh.Except occasional appearances at public functions and marriages, he is hardly seen anywhere. It is learnt most of the times, he stays in Bengaluru, where he is learnt to have some business interests.The latest news is that Kiran has gone to New Delhi and had a one-on-one meeting with Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah.

Naturally, it has led to speculations that he might join the BJP sooner or later. His Samaikyandhra party has lost its relevance and there is none in the party, which has become defunct now.There were reports some time back that Kiran would be joining the BJP anytime. But, apparently, the BJP leadership kept him at bay because of its alliance with the TDP and his entry would antagonise Chandrababu Naidu. Moroever, there is no utility value for Kiran in the present day politics.

However, things have changed a lot now. The BJP is of the view that the TDP would get out of the alliance and take anti-NDA stand in the coming days. In such case, the party needs some known figures in Andhra Pradesh.Kiran, who was the Chief Minister for nearly three years, will definitely be an asset in terms of exposing Naidu. Therefore, Shah might have entertained him now, say sources.

Surprising as it might sound, more than anybody else, it was Telugu Desam Party MP Avanti Srinivas who had to bear the brunt of the NDA government’s announcement that there is no question of granting special status to Andhra Pradesh.According to sources, TDP president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu called up Srinivas and took him to task strongly. Reason: the MP has raised the question of special category status to Andhra Pradesh in Lok Sabha and Union Minister Jayant Sinha had given a written answer saying there was no way AP would be given special status and that the centre was already giving enough funds to the State.

It is an open secret that Naidu is already aware that the Centre would not grant special status to AP. So does Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu. But both the Naidus have been hoodwinking the people of the state saying the special status issue is still under the consideration of the Centre. But with Avanti Srinivas seeking a written answer from the Centre on the issue, both the Naidus stand exposed.This is precisely why Chandrababu Naidu was so angry with Avanti Srinivas.

“Why the hell you raised the issue in Lok Sabha and pushed us into an embarrassing situation? Now, I am in soup and has to get into confrontation with the Centre. You have created a situation wherein the TDP has to come out of the NDA. Does it do good for the State?” he reportedly questioned Avanti Srinivas.Poor MP, he does not have the kind of diplomatic behaviour Naidu has. He should learn the art of diverting the people’s attention.

YS Jagan’s move to go on a fast in protest against the projects being taken up by the Telangana government is a master stroke and probably his finest move as a politician. In claiming injustice to AP because of these projects, Jagan has ensured that the attention of the Andhras is riveted on him.

But more importantly, his poser to Chandrababu on why the latter was not questioning Telangana as it was brazenly cheating AP has put Chandrababu in a real dilemma. Chandrababu because of the Stephenson case cannot question KCR beyond a point.

But if KCR were to get away with the projects, Chandrababu would be seen as a person who has betrayed the interests of the Andhras, back home. It’s a beautiful Catch-22 situation for Chandrababu. But for the unstinted support from the yellow media, he would have caved in to the pressure.
