The first edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Utsavam awards ceremony began in Hyderabad on Sunday was a star-studded affair with who’s who of the South Indian film industry gracing this glittering event. Memorable thing for Telugus is our pride Baahubali won six awards in Tamil section.
As all we know, Baahubali: The Beginning was made as a Telugu, Tamil bilingual with same title. Yesterday, IIFA presented awards in Tamil and Malayalam languages. Baahubali dominating show continued till the end.
The magnum opus film won the awards in the categories of Best Film, Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Supporting Actor Male (Sathyaraj), Best Supporting Actor Female (Ramya Krishna), Best Playback Singer Male (Haricharan Sesh for the song ‘Manohari’), Best Playback Singer Female (Geetha Madhuri for the song ‘Jeeva Nadhi’).
Telugu and Kannada awards will be presented today and no doubt Baahubali is going to win as many as awards in Telugu section.
Over Rs.1 crore has been raised through the event for the victims of flood-ravaged Chennai as part of their campaign ‘Be One For Chennai’. Today is the last day of IIFA Utsavam.
Massive blizzard leaves 19 dead in U.S.
Millions of residents, business owners and workers began digging out on Sunday from a massive blizzard that brought Washington, New York and other northeastern U.S. cities to a standstill, killing at least 19 people in several States. The storm was the second-biggest in New York City history, with 26.8 inches (68 cm) by midnight Saturday, just shy of the record 26.9 inches set in 2006, the National Weather Service said. Thirteen people were killed in weather-related car crashes in Arkansas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia on Saturday. One person died in Maryland and three in New York City while shovelling snow. Two died of hypothermia in Virginia, officials said.
On the New Jersey shore, a region hard-hit in 2012 by Superstorm Sandy, the storm drove flooding high tides. After dumping about two feet of snow on the Washington area, the storm unexpectedly strengthened as it spun northward and slammed into the New York metropolitan area on Saturday, home to about 20 million people. Winds gusting to more than 64 kmph sculpted drifts many feet high, burying cars.New York Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency, as did 10 other governors. A ban imposed on all travel on New York City area roads and on Long Island, except for emergency vehicles, was set to end at 7 a.m. on Sunday. Bridges and tunnels into the city were also set to reopen.
Subways running above ground and trains operated by the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North halted service on Saturday and were to be evaluated for service restoration at 6 a.m. By early Sunday the storm had all but moved off the coastline, with remnants trailing over parts of Long Island and Cape Cod. The brunt of the blizzard reached the New York City area after battering Washington, where snow piled up outside the White House and famous monuments were frosted with snow. The record high of 28 inches of snow in Washington was set in 1922 and the biggest recent snowfall was 17.8 inches in 2010. More tides expected High winds battered the entire East Coast, from North Carolina to New York, reaching 70 mph in Wallops Island, Virginia, late on Friday, whipping up the tides and causing coastal flooding, said National Weather Service meteorologist Greg Gallina.
The snow also engulfed the Mid-Atlantic cities of Baltimore and Philadelphia while about 150,000 customers in North Carolina and 90,000 homes in New Jersey lost electricity. Accumulations in parts of Virginia and West Virginia reached 40 inches.

Going by this, buoyant NTR is going to hike his fee for Janatha Garage. Thanks to the success of NPT, NTR has become more costly now.
Rajinikanth Kabali Shooting To Be Completed
Rajinikanth’s latest offering ‘Kabali’ in direction of Ranjith Pa is soon going to complete its whole of shooting with release plan already sketched by respective producers of Telugu and Tamil versions. According to latest information, Rajini is all likely to wrap up ‘Kabali’ on February 28 with post production works to begin immediately.

Young Tiger NTR’s Nannaku Prematho had crossed its 48 Crore share Worldwide by the end of the second weekend run at the box office. For the movie to touch 50 Crore share mark, tomorrow’s Republic day holiday is very important. If Nannaku Prematho manages to touch the 50 Crore share mark, it is the first such film for the actor. It has to get 54 Crore share in its full run to attain HIT status.

Chiranjeevi’s Film for Dussehra?
Mega Power Star Ram Charan is busy participating the rehearsals for his first ever stage performance at IIFA Awards ceremony. Milky beauty Tamannah will tap her feet with him. Meanwhile, Ram Charan has given a clarity on the launch dates of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s 150th film and ‘Thani Oruvan’s remake.
Ram Charan revealed that his movie would go on sets in the month of February while his father’s film in the month of March. The makers of ‘Thani Oruvan’s remake have already locked the release date of the movie as August 12. If Chiranjeevi’s 150th movie gets its shoot wrapped up in quick schedules, it will be released for Dussehra else, it might be released for Sankranthi, next year.
Meanwhile, the names of Nayantara and Tamannah have been heard for Chiranjeevi’s new movie. VV Vinayak will direct this film under Ram Charan’s own production. Lyca Productions is the co-production house of the movie. The movie is going to be the remake of Tamil blockbuster ‘Kaththi’.
Jamuna’s Comments on ‘Baahubali’ a Discussion Topic!
Legendary actress Jamuna’s comments on Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ have not only come as a huge shocker to the ‘Baahubali’s makers and its fans, but also it was debated. The question that arises initially is that what forced Jamuna to make such an aggressive comment on ‘Baahubali’.
To know the answer we must scrutinize the movies, their genres and screen play which got released in golden era of Tollywood. Mokshagna in Aditya 999?
Prior to have made his debut as a hero, Akhil acted in a three minute cameo role in Akkinenis multi-starrer ‘Manam’. His mind blowing entry during pre climax cheered fans and audiences. The movie’s blockbuster result brought laurels to Akhil. Afterwards, Akhil made his debut as a hero with ‘Akhil’.
Apparently, Natasimham Nandamuri Balakrishna’s son Mokshagna follows the foot steps of Akhil. This young lad is likely to make his debut to Tollywood in Balakrishna’s prestigious 100th venture ‘Aditya 999’.
Speculations were rife that Mokshagna will sport a 10 minute cameo role as a Gem of Mathematics. His role comes when Balakrishna and a scientist face a problem while preparing a time machine. Mokshagna solves a tough puzzle through an equation. There will be good number of interaction scenes between Balakrishna and Mokshagna. Let’s wait for more of such exciting news about ‘Aditya 999’.
Heroes Should Prefer Heaven Backdrop Movies
King Nagarjuna’s fans felt as if they were tormented when their favourite hero was going back to the hell in obedience to the order issued by lord Yama in ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ during climax episode of the film. What more paining is that Nagarjuna should be confined to live in hell only but nowhere else.
Not only Nagarjuna but also most of our heroes prefer to go to hell rather Heaven in movies. May it be due to lord Yama character’s mass appearance and chances of more adventurous acts done in hell rather Heaven, prompted our heroes preferring lord Yama and his kingdom hell.
Looking into the history of movies with ‘Hell’ as a backdrop, late NTR’s socio fantasy film ‘Devanthakudu’ was the first lord Yama and hell based film. 1977’s super hit film ‘Yamagola’ was made as a hilarious entertainer. Megastar Chiranjeevi’s ‘Yamudiki Mogudu’ stood as an industry hit in 1988. Movies like Yamaleela, Yamagola Malli Modalaindhi, ‘Yamajathakudu, Yamadonga are few more ‘Yama’ and ‘Hell’ based films of Tollywood.
