Nithin has a good reason to forget the bad memories left by ‘Akhil’ on their family. As a producer, Nithin saw an absolute disaster in Akkineni Akhil’s debut platform. However, he might continue his future career again as a hero. While ‘A Aa’ in Trivikram Srinivas direction is on the floors, latest we hear is a Tamil producer named S Michael Rayappan approached Nithin for Telugu remake of his Tamil hit ‘Eetti.’

In fact, Rayappan also initiated the same plan of Bollywood remake with Shahid Kapoor as hero. While the original Tamil director Ravi Arasu is going to direct the Telugu version, other cast and crew is yet to be finalized.

‘Eetti’ had Atharva and Sri Divya in main leads released on December 11th to enjoy a hit verdict. With a sports backdrop and neatly weaved intelligent medical angle along with many commercial ingredients made ‘Eetti’ a decent fare exciting many other heroes from different languages. Nithin would be lucky to have this remake project on hand.

AJ Radha Krishna’s Shamelessness!

Share

Andhra Jyothy managing director Vemuri Radha Krishna, who had been waging a lone battle against Telangana Rashtra Samithi government headed by K Chandrasekhar Rao, now seems to have shamelessly surrendered to the latter. Ever since the TRS government silently lifted the ban on ABN-Andhra Jyothy channel a few weeks ago, the relationship between Radha Krishna and KCR is learnt to have improved.

Now, Andhra Jyothy has stopped KCR bashing and started highlighting the achievements of the TRS government, though it is still trying to protect the interests of the Telugu Desam Party and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. After all, when Chandrababu Naidu himself has patched up with KCR, what can Radha Krishna do?

However, what is shameful on the part of Radha Krishna was that he had openly published a box item in the daily stating that KCR had personally called him and invited him to the Ayutha Chandi Yagam being held at the former’s farm house at Erravelli in Medak district. And he felt very much privileged to get the call from KCR!

2015: Content triumphed over star power in southern filmdom

Share

The year 2015 saw approximately 500 films release across southern filmdom, but performance-wise, it turned out to be a mixed year. The success of films such as “Kanchana 2”, “Premam”, “Pataas” and “Kaaka Muttai” surprised everybody, but the failure of some highly-anticipated, big-budgeted and superstar-driven films was worrisome. Of the over 200 Tamil releases, only 10-15 turned out to be money spinners at the box office. “It has been a mixed year at the ticket window for Tamil cinema. While big-ticket films such as ‘I’ and ‘Vedalam’ had done well, too many releases played spoilsport for the overall performance of the industry,” Sreedhar Pillai, film critic and entertainment industry tracker, told IANS.Films such as “Kanchana 2” along with its Telugu dubbed version “Ganga” raked in over Rs.100 crore ($15 million) on an investment of Rs.18 crore, while M. Manikandan’s critically-acclaimed, National Award-winning low-budget drama “Kaaka Muttai” collected three to four times its investment.

“In terms of return on investment, ‘Kaaka Muttai’ will be the most successful venture,” Pillai said, adding that the industry lacks fresh content. Other successful Tamil outings include “Naanum Rowdydhaan”, “O Kadhal Kanmania, “Anegan”, “Demonte Colony”, “Maya” and “Darling”. “The success of ‘Naanum Rowdydhaan’ has shown the importance of making a successful film within limited budget to the industry,” Pillai added. Big-budget movies such as Kamal Haasan’s “Uttama Villain” and “Thoongaavanam”, Vijay’s “Puli” and Suriya’s “Massu” turned out to be duds. Following the phenomenal success of S.S. Rajamouli’s “Baahubali”, Tollywood market expanded by 10 percent, says Om Deepak of AndhraBoxOffice, a popular box-office portal. “The success of ‘Baahubali’ and Mahesh Babu’s ‘Srimanthudu’ resulted in addition of new screens in the state and even witnessed a little hike in ticket prices,” Deepak told IANS. “Baahubali” itself minted over Rs.600 crore worldwide, while Koratala Siva-directed “Srimanthudu” raked in over Rs.200 crore.

“The success of these films showed us the market potential,” said trade analyst Trinath, adding that they also increased the market for dubbed films. “‘Baahubali’ did exceptionally well in all the dubbed versions. It collected over Rs.100 crore from the Hindi version alone. It all boils down to good content, which, irrespective of the language, will be lapped up,” Trinath added. The success of low-budget films such as “Raju Gari Gadhi”, “Cinema Choopista Maava”, “Kumari 21 F”, “Pataas” and “Bhale Bhale Magadivoy” stood testimony to the fact that good content triumphed over star power. “Both ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoy’ and ‘Raju Gari Gadhi’ were the biggest hits of the year on return on investment. Films such as ‘Rudhramadevi’, ‘James Bond’, ‘Subramanyam for Sale’ and ‘Kanche’ also did well and had a good run, but fell short of break-even for distributors,” Deepak said.

Dubbed films such as “Raghuvaran B. Tech”, “Fast and Furious 7” and “Jurassic World” were hits, while some highly anticipated Telugu films such as “Bruce Lee: The Fighter” and “Akhil” turned out to be box office disasters.
Malayalam filmdom continued to churn out films that succeed commercially as well as earn critical acclaim. Two of the biggest blockbusters of the industry this year were “Premam” and “Ennu Ninte Moideen”. “Made on a budget of Rs.12 crore, ‘Ennu Ninte’ grossed over Rs.50 crore. ‘Premam’, meanwhile, minted over Rs.60 crore on an investment of under Rs.5 crore. Both these films worked because of good content,” Trinath said. Of the over 100 Malayalam releases, films such as “Mili”, “Picket 43”, “Fireman”, “100 Days of Love”, “Oru Vadakkan Selfie”, “Ennum Eppozhum”, “Bhaskar the Rascal” and “Chandrettan Evideya” tasted success.

“Some of these hits are already being remade in other languages. ‘Oru Vadakkan Selfie’, for instance, which is being remade in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Marathi and Bengali, earned nearly Rs.20 crore from theatricals alone. It’s phenomenal,” distributor Arvind Nambiar said. Mammootty-starrer “Bhaskar the Rascal”, whose Telugu rights have already been acquired, collected triple its overall cost. Some highly anticipated films that bombed, include “Laila O Laila”, “Mariyam Mukku” and “Chirakodinja Kinavukal”. The Kannada industry garnered all the attention with Anup Bhandari’s “RangiTaranga”, which has even earned a spot in the list over 300 films eligible for 88th Academy Awards. According to trade analyst and distributor Ramesh Gowda, the film collected over Rs.20 crore from Karnataka alone.

“The film broke so many box office records. You could even call it the biggest multiplex hit in the state. Even in cities like Hyderabad and Pune, the film ran for over five weeks in cinemas. It’s also the first Kannada film to have run for eight houseful weeks in the US,” Gowda said. Another biggest hit is Darshan-starrer “Mr. Airavata”, which raked in over Rs.32 crore in three weeks. Big films such as “Ranna”, “Vajrakaya”, “Rana Vikrama” and “Siddhartha” did decent business and recovered money. But as Gowda put it, “It could’ve been a much better year. The success rate is very low and the number of releases has gone high.”

No Remuneration For Varun Tej?

Varun-Tej-Gollabhama-shooting

Do you know that hero from the Mega stable, Varun Tej, did not take remuneration for working in Krish-directed Kanche. “I am trying to grow up as an actor and remuneration is not of much importance at this stage for me,” says the hero. But, based on the business returns, he says, he has been given ‘some’ honorarium.

Varun Tej says he is giving more importance to new and innovative storylines and tells us that he has heard over 25 stories post-Loafer. He says he has great relations with his three past producers and hence they are re-casting him in their next projects.

Varun, who did Loafer after Kanche with literally no break, is enjoying a three month break. Then he will work with Krish again and then in a Malineni Gopichand directed movie. So, this young hero has learnt the art of balancing the offbeat movies with commercial ones.

Why Kajal Agarwal Is On Cloud Nine?

Share

kajal21450494472

Kajal Agarwal is busy shooting her upcoming films in Tamil and Telugu. She is now in news because of the recent list released by Google. According to Google she stands in 8th position in the list of the most searched persons in India.
Though she is not seen in any Bollywood film in 2015, she still stood in the 8th position and because of her films like ‘Temper’, ‘Maari’ and other South Indian films.

What’s more interesting is that other than Modi and Kalam everyone in the list are film stars. While Sunny Leone tops the list, Bollywood Khans Shah Rukh and Salman stood next. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi stood in 10th place in the list.

Kajal is the only South Indian actress in this list and no other star from South is seen in the list. This is indeed a good news for Kajal as she is still having craze in spite of getting less offers these days.

Actress-anchor and YSR Congress party MLA from Nagari in Chittoor district, R K Roja, has turned a big embarrassment for party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, with her acerbic tongue and unusual behaviour. After facing an unprecedented punishment of being suspended from the Assembly for one year, Jagan is learnt to have expressed displeasure at the way Roja used unparliamentary language against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Naturally, her behaviour has come as a big opportunity for the ruling Telugu Desam Party to turn tables on the YSR Congress party, which is going all out to expose the involvement of TDP leaders in the call money racket. Jagan was forced to defend Roja in the Assembly after she had left following her suspension, but party leaders said he was terribly upset with her.

“While everybody in the party was bringing pressure on Naidu, she tried to grab the media attention by raising slogans and using filthy language against the Chief Minister. It only gave the advantage to the TDP and we had to be on the defensive, “ Jagan is learnt to have commented. This was not the first time that Roja had proven a big headache for Jagan. In the past, too, she made ugly comments in the Assembly and made obscene gestures at the TDP members. Then, too, Jagan had to reprimand her.

Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol Make Dilwale Special

Share

shah-rukh-khan-kajol-make-dilwale-special_b_1812150743

That’s the unimaginable value of stardom in Indian cinema. Never experiment, just show temperament treating the same old subjects in a new format. Shah Rukh Khan has been continually successful attempting the regular mass masala subjects with complete predictable screenplays. First ‘Chennai Express’ and now, ‘Dilwale’ from same director Rohit Shetty got a super hit commercial verdict from common audience.

While critics lashed at ‘Dilwale’ released in theaters today, revenues at Box Office are said to be overtaking ‘Bajirao Mastani’ released in parallel today. Apparently, SRK Fans won’t ask anything other than mere appearance of Shah Rukh on screen to foresee a film becoming paisa vasool entertainer. Importantly when SRK is in the romantic company of Kajol, nothing can stop Box Office from going on a rampage.

Finally, ‘Dilwale’ isn’t a great film but at the same time not a bad film because of Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and mindless action from director Rohit Shetty. They have just targeted at Fans and it served their purpose. ‘Dilwale’ set to break many records in coming days.

Nava Manmadhudu – Self Out

Dhanush, Samanta and Amy Jackson new film ‘Nava Manmadhudu,’ the dubbed version to Tamil original ‘Thanga Magan’ failed to hit the Telugu states till afternoon. As per the official updates, morning and matinee shows of ‘Nava Manmadhudu’ are called off with no prints loaded in meager number of theaters allotted.

With ‘Loafer’ enjoying a very big release yesterday followed by ‘Bajirao Mastani, Dilwale’ got their due share in theaters count and ‘Bengal Tiger’ struck to its own popularity backed by Asian Films, there was no space for ‘Nava Manmadhudu’ to hog the limelight. Despite the attendance of Dhanush and Samanta couple of days ago before media people to speak about ‘Nava Manmadhudu,’ none of our Telugu audience diverted.

Finally, a positive verdict generated for ‘Thanga Magan’ in Tamil Nadu is now going wasted in Telugu with disastrous planning in AP, TS. Looks like, ‘Nava Manmadhudu’ is attempting a suicide.

Puri Jagannath Becoming A Philosopher

Share

puri-jagannath-the-hard-hitting-philosophical-lines_b_1812150714
Jeevitham Prathi Vaadi Sarada Theerchesthadi… Puri Jagannath’s famous line from ‘Temper’ can be elaborated into a lengthy essay. The current form of Puri is evidently different from what he has during the times of ‘Badri, Idiot’ or even his own brother’s launch flick ‘143’ and ‘Chirutha.’ There was a gradual transition of Puri from a commercial director to philosophically hard hitting writer/director starting with ‘Golimaar.’

Like every great inspirational personality in history will have a stage of enlightenment driving their life into more purposefulness, Puri has become more of such sorts with time. Off late, ‘Temper, Loafer’ are showing peaks of frustration sensed in his dialogue writing. There is a spiritualistic, realistic and intellectuality stuffed into many characterizations flowed from his pen.

In ‘Temper,’ whatever Jr NTR speaks is more like Puri delivering a seriously disturbing lecture for audience and same do applies for Posani role in ‘Loafer.’ Never worry about the life and people around you… just be what you are and do whatever you want. Looks like Puri-ism is prevailing so strongly than RGV-ism and Pawanism these days. Whatever, Puri isn’t so happy with this life and has many complaints.

First Hit For Samantha’s Calibre!!

Share

Nava-manmadhudu-Movie-Stills-11

That’s true blue hit. A breathe of fresh lease of air. From years, sensuous beauty Samantha is trying to score a genuine hit in her native Tamil but never she got one. Except Kaththi, where her role is bare minimum and strictly restricted to songs, none of her films won acclaim and commercial hit status.

Since her debut in 2007 with the Tamil film Moscowin Kavery, which only managed to release in 2010, there is no single hit for Samantha there. Big ticket films like Surya’s Anjaan, Vikram’s 10 Eradhukulla have turned flops to her embarrassment.

Finally today’s release Thangamagan (Nava Manmadhudu) has quenched her thirst. With critics and audiences liking the film, raving about Sam’s performance, the talented hottie felt overwhelmed.

Probably this is the first hit for her calibre as an actress, while Kaththi would remain her first ever commercial hit. Samantha has now four movies releasing in first half of 2016, with Nitin’s A..Aa and Mahesh’s Brahmotsavam in Telugu and Surya’s 24, Vijay’s Theri in Kollywood. Good going lady, keep it up.

Anjali Glamour Show in Dictator

Proving to be more of a performance based artist than glamour domination, Telugu girl Anjali first won the hearts of Tamil audience before foraying into Telugu states. It was Dil Raju and Srikant Addala who made Anjali to step big into Telugu industry with ‘Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu,’ which bought her enormous native recognition.

Later on due to personal reasons and repulsive forces acting from Tamil Nadu, life became horrible for Anjali and so is her professional life ruined. Being a strong girl with iron will, she fought back with ‘GeethAnjali’ and now Anjali has set the eye to achieve commercial stardom as a glamorous heroine with ‘Dictator’ romancing Balakrishna.

Reports say, Anjali is doing an author backed glamorous character besides Balayya. Importantly, their chemistry has come out so refreshing for which Kona Venkat and director Sriwass has to be appreciated. Depending upon ‘Dictator’ BO verdict, the future strategy of Anjali will be decided.
