Share

While news of Puri parting ways with Charmi doing the rounds, here is the latest development about Loafer director. The writer-director is all set for an abroad trip. Puri will be soon heading to a foreign location where he is going to work on the script for his next film. What’s more? Puri’s wife Lavanya will be accompanying him during this trip.

Whenever Puri goes to Bangkok to write script, he avoids others and prefers to go single as he says it allows him to write well. Now that his wife Lavanya is accompanying Puri after 10 long years, it’s setting tongues wagging in tinsel town. So it clearly confirms that it’s Puri’s permanent break up with Charmi.

Puri apparently decided to pay keen attention on the script and decided to not to go to shoot until he is convinced totally. Puri, who is known for wrapping up films in very fast span, now wants to spend more time on script and filming to give better output. Looks like, Puri is completely changed person.

It’s well-known fact that Nandamuri Balakrishna is devotional, great follower of astrology and has strong belief on auspicious muhurats. Proving this yet again and taking his belief on muhurats to new high, the grapevine is that Balayya had got to fix 3 muhurats for his entry on to the stage of Dictator audio launch.

Though Balayya had fixed a muhurat initially, he couldn’t make it on time. Balayya wasn’t lucky second time either. Since he was going to audio launch venue as a rally, he missed second muhurat too. At last, Balayya was third-time lucky. While the Legend star finally walked onto the dais for the third muhurat.

There is no denying that film personalities have this habit of following astrology, predictions. And most of them are particular about having auspicious muhurat for movie launches or audio launches. But having muhurat to step into the dais is something unusual, unheard of. Balayya proved that he is unique, different from the rest. That’s Balayya!

Smartphone-based Systems help Driverless Cars ‘see’

Cars_Reuters_2665747f

Scientists have developed two new smartphone-based systems for driverless cars that can identify a user’s location and various components of a road scene such as street signs, pedestrians and buildings in places where GPS does not function. The systems can perform the same job as sensors costing tens of thousands of pounds, researchers said. The separate but complementary systems have been designed by researchers from the University of Cambridge in UK. Although the systems cannot currently control a driverless car, the ability to make a machine ‘see’ and accurately identify where it is and what it is looking at is a vital part of developing autonomous vehicles and robotics.

The first system, called SegNet, can take an image of a street scene it has not seen before and classify it, sorting objects into 12 different categories – roads, street signs, pedestrians, buildings and cyclists – in real time. It can deal with light, shadow and night-time environments, and currently labels more than 90 per cent of pixels correctly.

Previous systems using expensive laser or radar based sensors have not been able to reach this level of accuracy while operating in real time. Users can upload an image or search for any city or town in the world, and the system will label all the components of the road scene. The system has been successfully tested on both city roads and motorways. For the driverless cars currently in development, radar and base sensors are expensive – in fact, they often cost more than the car itself. In contrast with expensive sensors, which recognise objects through a mixture of radar and LIDAR (a remote sensing technology), SegNet learns by example – it was ‘trained’ by the researchers, who manually labelled every pixel in each of 5000 images.

Once the labelling was finished, the researchers then took two days to ‘train’ the system before it was put into action. “It’s remarkably good at recognising things in an image, because it is had so much practise,” said Alex Kendall, a PhD student in the Department of Engineering at Cambridge.

A separate but complementary system uses images to determine both precise location and orientation. This localisation system runs on a similar architecture to SegNet, and is able to localise a user and determine their orientation from a single colour image in a busy urban scene. The system is far more accurate than GPS and works in places where Global Positioning System (GPS) does not, such as indoors, in tunnels, or in cities where a reliable GPS signal is not available.

The localisation system uses the geometry of a scene to learn its precise location, and is able to determine, for example, whether it is looking at the east or west side of a building, even if the two sides appear identical.

Although Ash has done a kissing scene in Dhoom:2, with Hrithik Roshan, after she got married, she isn’t comfortable doing it now.

She made her reservations known to director KJo. Given his relationship with the Bachchan parivaar, he didn’t want any awkwardness and agreed to shoot the scene in such a way that it would not involve an actual liplock.

He will now also shoot the intimate scene in such a way that there is no skin-show by the actress. So now, you won’t see a liplock between Ranbir and Aishwarya Rai.
