Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani inaugurated the new Afghan Parliament building which was built with assistance of India. They then preceded to Dilkosha Palace the Afghan presidential office, for the bilateral talks.

The Darul Aman Palace (Afghanistan’s old parliament), which was once one of most regal and metaphorical buildings of the country, was bombed by Taliban. India then promised to build the new parliament house as a mark of friendship and cooperation to help rebuild Afghanistan after the wars. Its foundation stone was laid by former PM Manmohan Singh in 2009.

India spent USD 90 million (710 crores approx) to construct the new parliament building. While its House of People, called Wolesi Jirga, can seat 256 members, the Upper House or Meshrano Jirga can accommodate 134 representatives.

Based on Mughal and modern styles of architecture, the building’s dome is one of largest among Asian parliaments. Narendra Modi also addressed the two houses, after the inauguration. Ghani and Modi toured the parliament building and arrived at the main session hall in the presence of the guests, including member of the Afghan parliament.

Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan’s latest offering, Dilwale is turning to be a big disaster at the box office. The first week gross collection of the movie is less than 100 Crore. However, the movie should make a minimum of 250 Crore gross for the distributors to be safe.

The movie collections already showed great signs of drop after the first weekend. Analysts say the chances for revival is next to impossible now. Dilwale brings the successful combination of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol (Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge fame) back again.

Bajirao Mastani which released on the same day as Diwale even though is slow initially, is catching up with Dilwale at the box office in India, it would be interesting to see how the two films fare at the box office in their second weekend.

Amyra Dastur who debuted in south with Dhanush’s Anegan, is all excited about sharing screen space with Jackie Chan for the film Kung Fu Yoga, which will be shot at Beijing. The actress speaks about how she was approached for the movie, her character in it, the fitness regime she will follow for the same and what she will ask to the Asian superstar when she meets him in a few days The three-film old actress says she is over the moon and that she couldn’t have asked for more. The lanky beauty has already shot ten days for the movie, and will join the crew for the next schedule soon at Beijing.

Sharing the excitement, Amyra says, “It was my casting director who told me that I was chosen for the film which has Jackie Chan in the lead. Initially I thought he was kidding. My joy had no bounds when I knew that it was for real — I’m going to act with my favourite Jackie Chan — the feeling is beyond words. I feel I’m on top of the world.”

The actress will be playing an Indian girl, and she has to perform lots of action sequences. The makers briefed her on few interesting facets of Indian culture and history to help her relate more to the character. She has already started training in Kung Fu for the movie. “I have been practicing for two hours a day now. The working time will be more once I join the crew in Beijing. I will have a trainer there and will start sessions which I’m looking forward to. Apart from this, pilates, yoga and weight training help me keep fit,” she smiles.

Having said that, Amyra, who debuted opposite Dhanush in Anegan says she had to turn down two Telugu flicks for accepting this film. She was supposed to foray into Tollywood with a film of Puri Jagannadh and another with Manchu Vishnu. But, the actress feels that her decision will pay off and work wonders for her career.

She says she is nervous as well as elated over meeting Jackie in a few days. Quiz her on how she would react when she meets Jackie, quick was the reply, “I’m curious about his reaction when we meet. I want to invite him for dinner at my home and serve him Parsi cuisine,” she says.

It’s going to be celebration time for Regina Cassandra with Christmas being just a day away and with the release of her movie on Thursday. “People ask Santa for good things, so this time I asked him to make my film Soukhyam a good one,” says Regina. The actress is going to celebrate the festival in Hyderabad. “Yes, my mother is coming down to Hyderabad from Chennai to bring in Christmas together. On this day, I attend the midnight mass and savour on plum cakes and wine.”

This year has been good for Regina as her earlier film tasted success and she is confident about this one too. Asked if she was aiming for the top league, she says, “I have set a personal goal and I also maintain my own standards. I am critical about my work, thus I grade myself. Out of 10, I am still at five or six probably, and I still have time to reach my goal. Only then will I be satisfied with my work.”

“I have friends in different walks of life. So I usually take their opinion about my work and then go along with their views,” she says. Asked how she was handling the huge workload, Regina says, “Actually, when there is a lot of work I get anxious and scared, because I don’t know whether I can handle it or how to carry it forward. I want to work at a normal pace, not in a hurry. I definitely want a holiday as I can’t work 24×7. I need at least a two day break in a month as I just can’t work continuously. I don’t want to appear as if I am a busy actress because anyhow people will come to know once my films release. I just want to do good work, but at the same time I need breaks,” says Regina.

She says that she didn’t expect her career to take off this way when she started with SMS a few years back. “Honestly I didn’t expect it. After my first Telugu film, I got many offers, and I decided to spend one year acting. If they didn’t like my work I wanted to complete my psychology degree. I didn’t have any ambition to become a big actress and do many films at that time. After my first film I got offered Routine Love Story, after which I made up my mind about pursuing a career in acting. I take things as they come,” says Regina.

She has been appearing in quite a few commercial films too. “At the beginning many said that I was not fit for a commercial film. I started thinking why can’t I be a commercial actress? I want to be versatile and do everything. I should fit the bill, so I am doing commercial films too,” she says. When asked about her relationship with Sai Dharam Tej, she smiles and says, “If I say we are good friends, you will use the same headline in quotes. I am here to work and I am doing my work,” says Regina.

“In government schools there is no extra curricular activity, because there are no physical trainers. So we take up a few schools in and around Hyderabad and appoint a PT or a coach to teach sports. Most of the kids come from lower middle class families, get into bad habits like smoking at the age of 16, because there’s nothing to keep them occupied. So apart from studies if we can engage them in a few sports, they can be good sportsmen in the future,” she says.

So, how is she planning to spend New Year’s eve?“I don’t have any special plans for New Years as I have to attend my friend’s wedding on January 1 in Chennai,” says Regina.

Soha-Ali-Khan-hot-pics-4

Mumbai: There are very few handsome actors in India, and the country needs more, feels actress Soha Ali Khan. At a fashion event, Soha was asked about superstar Salman Khan’s 50th birthday. “I have always loved watching Salman Khan movies. ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ was the first movie I saw growing up where I really thought, he is a handsome Indian actor.

And even today, many years later, he is just as handsome and I think he is really very unique and special. “And we need more handsome Indian male actors. There are very few,” said Soha, who will next be seen opposite Sunny Deol in “Ghayal Once Again”.

Soha’s brother Saif is also considered one of the most handsome actors in the country. Asked about him, Soha said: “He is of course very handsome. My most favourite role of his is Langda Tyagi (in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Omkara’).”

She said Saif teaming up again with Bhardwaj for “Rangoon” “is something that is very exciting for all of us”. “Rangoon” also stars Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor.

Mumbai: Actress Sonam Kapoor says Bollywood’s “Mr. Perfectionist” Aamir Khan has always been her inspiration and she looks forward to his opinions for her films.

“Last time Aamir tweeted for ‘Raanjhanaa’ and my life changed after that. Honestly, the kind of films I got and the appreciation I got after ‘Raanjhanaa’… that was really different.

“After ‘Neerja’ movie release, I am hoping for the same kind of thing. I respect Aamir a lot. I really look up to him and I respect his opinion and if he is endorsing ‘Neerja’, then I am really happy with it,” Sonam said at Renault Sony Guild Awards 2016 in Mumbai.

“Neerja” is an upcoming biopic on the life of late air hostess Neerja Bhanot, and the “Khoobsurat” actress essays the role of Bhanot, a Pan Am chief purser who was gunned down by terrorists when Flight 73 was hijacked in Karachi in 1986. Directed by Ram Madhvani, the film is slated to hit the theatres on February 19 next year.

The upcoming Sankranthi battle will see the clash of titans. While Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Dictator and Young Tiger NTR’s Nannaku Prematho are fighting it out between them, Akkineni Nagarjuna too has joined the big box-office war with his Soggade Chinni Nayana.

Soggade Chinni Nayana’s audio album was launched just a while ago in Hyderabad and it was a welcoming traditional affair, unlike the usual audio launch events. But what was more striking in the whole event was Nagarjuna’s confidence on SCN.

An ultra confident Nagarjuna announced, “Sankranthi Ki Vasthunna, Kodthunnam,” much to this thrill of elated Akkineni fans. The film’s latest theatrical trailer and song promos gained instant applause.

While many were thinking that the major Sankranthi battle was between Dictator and Nannaku Prematho, Soggade Chinni Nayana joins the clash and makes the contest even more interesting.

Mumbai: Actress Kriti Sanon, who has been appreciated for her work in filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s latest release “Dilwale”, says she has not been offered a part in Salman Khan-starrer “Sultan”. A media report suggested that Kriti is wary of signing “Sultan” as then she would have to sign up as a Yash Raj Films talent.

However, Kriti has cleared the air on the news, via Twitter. “I’d like to clarify again that I have not been offered ‘Sultan’. So the question of YRF putting any conditions doesn’t arise,” Kriti tweeted on Thursday. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, “Sultan”, which has been shot in Karjat, is reportedly based on the life of a wrestler, essayed by the “Dabangg” actor.

One of the fittest stars of Bollywood, Salman has gone through intensive training for wrestling and mixed martial arts for Zafar’s directorial with international action director Larnell Stovall. His leading lady in the film is yet to be announced. There was a rumour that actress Parineeti Chopra was a part of the film.

However, even the “Ishaqzaade” actress took to Twitter earlier this month to deny the reports. “Sultan” is slated to hit the screens on Eid in 2016.

Heaping praise on the film’s trailer, Bachchan, who rose to stardom with his ‘angry young man’ roles in films like “Zanjeer”, “Trishul” and “Deewar”, tweeted, “Prakash Jha & Priyanka, dynamic… ‘Wah Bhaiya kya baat hai… ab toh humlogan pe bhaari pad gaye ho’!”

Dusky Heroine Wondering What To Do

Share

Dusky heroine Regina Cassandra wouldn’t have expected such a punch as her other day’s release “Soukyam” succumbed to negative talk. As Gopichand delivered a career change hit for Rakul Preet through Loukyam, they are expecting the same in this dusky Chennai lass’ case too.

Without worrying about that performing-actress image, Regina for the first time thought to change her way of picking films as she decided to don commercial heroine roles. Her first step is Soukyam, though she has done similar role in Ra Ra Krishnayya earlier.

Surprisingly both these films ended up as disasters at box office. That makes Regina fall in a confusion trap as she is now wondering what kind of films to pick.

As these commercial heroine acts of her failed big time, needless to say big heroes might not make her a hot favorite. Hope her Shourya opposite Manchu Manoj will click big time.
