NDA Makes A Fool Of Naidu Again!

Both Jayalalitha and Chandrababu Naidu wrote to PM Modi on the same day asking for Central assistance in the wake of floods in their respective states. Modi immediately sanctioned Rs 1800 crore to Tamil Nadu which had asked in excess of Rs 5000 crore. But the file of AP which has asked for around Rs 4000 crore was kept pending. An angry Chandrababu had Sujana Chowdary take up the matter with the Union Finance Ministry which then released Rs 700 crore. But Naidu’s joy was short-lived.

Apparently, the Center has released Rs 350 crore as ‘backward region development package’ and the remaining Rs 350 crore for ‘Polavaram project’. That means, it hasn’t given anything for flood relief. It is by now very much clear that Naidu carries absolutely no credibility with the NDA government. They just don’t trust him as can be evidenced by the treatment meted out to him repeatedly.

‘Clean Comedy More Appreciated Than Vulgarity’

Trends come and go in the cinematic world, but the fact that clean humour and good comedy reign over “meaningless” entertainers has sustained over the years, says Bollywood’s beloved comedian and character actor Johnny Lever, who now simply skips “nonsense” films. “I’ve been in the industry for the last 35 years. If we compare today’s comedy with the one that we used to see earlier, then there is a difference, but it’s not a big one. Trend always keeps on changing… But good comedy is always appreciated more than vulgar and meaningless one,” Johnny, best known for his roles in films like “Raja Hindustani”, “Deewana Mastana” and “Dulhe Raja”, told IANS in an interview.

“For making a good comedy film, you need a good writer whose craft can be understood through the time that he takes to write his script. A good writer takes time to go in-depth into a subject and then comes out with a good script. Then it’s the job of the actor and director to improvise with it and make it even better,” Johnny said. The “Housefull 2” actor, who will perform with his daughter Jamie in the US next year, also feels that when it comes to vulgar comedy, its “easy to write and perform”.

“It takes less time. That’s why it is seen quite often these days. In earlier times, in the era of Mehmood Ali and Kishore Kumar, people used to observe a lot and used to take time in writing scripts. Comedy made in a hurry is waste and meaningless. The comedy, where you are insulting people, is easy to write,” Johnny said. Gearing up to feature in director Rohit Shetty’s Shah Rukh Khan- and Kajol-starrer “Dilwale”, Johnny said he does “fewer” films now. “I choose scripts which bring out some meaningful message. Otherwise, I skip being part of nonsense comedies… it won’t look good if I’ll appear in a film just to show my face and do weird roles, especially after working in around 400 films,” he added. However, he feels that in current times, comedy is so popular that it’s almost part of every character in a film. Due to this, a comedian’s work has become tougher. “Everybody is doing comedy – right from the lead actor to villain and supporting cast. But I have never felt the fear of being neglected or overshadowed. People often call me saying: ‘Johnny, we have a role that we think only you can do’. If I like the character, then I instantly say yes to them. “A supportive actor’s career depends upon the variety that he showcases in all his roles. If his roles will be similar to one another, then his career will not have a long run. Also it’s the job of a supporting actor to maintain the liveliness in the film. In that way, he holds a big job in his hands,” added the actor, who has infused life into several movies during his career.

Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming release Killing Veerappan which is all geared up to hit the screens worldwide on 4th December, has now landed itself in legal trouble. Veerappan’s wife Muthulakshmi said in a press meet this morning that she gave permission to Ram Gopal Varma for filming only the Hindi version of her late husband’s story.

Muthulakshmi alleged that not only Ram Gopal Varma went on to make the film in three other languages like Kannada, Telugu and Tamil, he also showed her husband in a bad light. Muthulakshmi has also approached a local court demanding a ban on the film.

Muthulakshmi went on to state that she will not allow the film to release unless RGV shows her the complete film before its theatrical release. Muthulakshmi expressed her concerns that if the film showcases her husband as a cruel and negative man, it will make an adverse affect on her family.

Meanwhile, one of the film’s unit members expressed dismay over Muthulakshmi’s last minute allegations as they duly paid her a huge amount several years ago for the rights to make the film.

Bunny Picking Up Right Directors

Many in the industry say that Allu Arjun like his father Allu Aravind has very smart planning regarding his career as he always picks up right directors and stories. When NTR and Mahesh Babu rejected the offer to do Gona Ganna Reddy in Gunasekhar’s Rudhramadevi, Allu Arjun took up the initiative and did the movie. The rest as they say is history.

While Mahesh Babu refused to do ‘Manam’ director Vikram Kumar’s movie, Allu Arjun signed a film under his direction, which will be launched next year. When big heroes were skeptical of working with Surender Reddy, he took the chance of working with him and got the biggest hit of his career with Racegurram. Industry folks say his choice of working with class directors like Vikram Kumar after doing a movie with Boyapati Srinu is right choice as it would balance his career well. The question is whether his choice of working with Boyapati would be fruitful or not?

Modi Caught Snoozing In Parliament?

PM Narendra Modi’s prompt presence in the parliament surprised the common man, as till the day before he was busy building and reviving relationships between, India-Singapore and India-Malaysia. He on the first day of Parliament also coined a new day for India called “Constitution day”. He lectured the nation about it and shared his pride in celebrating it.

However, Minutes after his speech the Lok sabha live relay cameras caught him in a way which the media described as ‘napping’. Ever since national media published photographs of Modi reportedly ‘sleeping’, the PM once again turned to be the hot topic of the day. The pictures of him napping went viral and the social media, especially his detractors on social media were unforgiving. Minutes after the pictures were out, a new hashtag #PMJetLag started off.

There were enough trolls on the man for being struck with Jet Lag and snoozing away during the Parliament session. When a few asked if the sessions were too boring for Modi ji, few said Modi was conserving his energy for his next trip or public meet.

Few more even quipped that Modi wouldn’t have been aware of the cameras presence. On the other hand, Modi’s supporters defend the PM saying that the PM was only looking down and wasn’t sleeping at all and that media made a huge issue out of nothing.

After several months of uncertainty, 17,000 native Telugu students studying in Tamil Nadu schools finally heaved a huge sigh is relief with the Madras High Court’s order. In a much welcomed order, the High Court stated that all the 30,000 minority students studying in Tamil Nadu must be allowed to write their annual exams in their mother languages.

The Madras High Court’s decision gave a fresh hope to the native students of Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Urdu and other minority languages who have been severely distressed with Tamil Nadu government’s compulsory Tamil education GO.

The Madras High Court’s Divisional Bench under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice lashed out at Jayalalithaa’s government following a petition filed by the Linguistic Minority Forum which alleged that the students of minority languages are at the brink of losing a valuable academic year.

In September, Jayalalithaa passed the compulsory education in Tamil GO which made it mandatory for all the minority language students to give their exams in Tamil and not in their mother languages. The decision invited severe outrage and protests from linguistic associations and even political leaders from AP, Telangana and other states.
