No More Masala Films Please!

Bruce Lee is rejected right away by our audience that are fed up by the routine films they are being fed week after week from Telugu cinema industry. The message is loud and clear as they turned down films like Kick 2, Shivam and Bruce Lee.

Telugu cinema thrived upon same formula for more than half a decade as ticket paying public were more than happy with routine fare. This won’t work anymore as film lovers are seeking variety with every movie.

Even a poorly made film like Rudrama Devi managed to get strong openings because of the novelty in it.

Srimanthudu has become such a big hit only because of superb script. Bhale Bhale Magadivoi is an entertainer dealt in a different style.

Needless to say about Baahubali that has offered visual splendor. Time for ace writers like Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan to come up with something different from usual.

Ram Charan Lends His Voice for Salman

Here is an interesting news for movie patrons. Mega Power Star Ram Charan will be dubbing Salman Khan’s voice in the Telugu version of the forthcoming Rajshri Production’s ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. It is said that Bollywood’s Superstar Salman Khan personally called Ram Charan and requested him to dub for his character in the Telugu version and Ram Charan agreed.

There are good reasons Salman Khan opting for Ram Charan to dub his voice in Telugu version of his film. Firstly Ram Charan has the bass voice which appeals to everyone. When he articulates dialogues with perfect modulation, audiences stay connected with his resonant voice. Secondly, Salman’s family shares nice bonding with mega family and they are family friends.

Exactly 25 years ago, Salman Khan’s ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ was dubbed as ‘Prema Pavuralu’ in Telugu and turned out to be a stupendous hit in United AP. His ‘Hum Aapke Hein Kaun’ was also dubbed into Telugu as ‘ Premalayam’ and this movie was also a huge hit then. Both the movie were made on Rajshri Productions. And now, Salman and Rajshri’s combo is all set to rock in Telugu states with the dubbed version of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’.

Director Scares Us For Brother!

omkar

Creative small screen personality Omkar is a disaster in big screen first innings as ‘Genius’ wasn’t able to provide him any ground in Tollywood. At the same time, Omkar received brickbats from critics and discouraged him from doing further movies. Over a period of time, Omkar is back restarting his second innings as director with his second film ‘Raju Gari Gadi’ hitting the screens for Dasara.

This time, Omkar has not only picked a safe commercial subject in horror-comedy genre but also wrapped up the production on self risk basis with in a shoe string budget with assured quality. Producers Sai Korrapati, Anil Sunkara were left stunned watching the movie in a special screening and decided to release the product.

‘I have done this film only to make my brother Ashwin stand as a hero. I tried him in ‘Genius’ but it did not work out. Learning many lessons from the past failure, I worked very hard with in limited budget and time period. From the times of my first break through with ‘Aata,’ I have a strong goal to see my brother establish as a hero and ‘Raju Gari Gadi’ will surely do that,’ director Omkar says.

Mega Craze for Kanche!

‘Kanche,’ the title sounds insightful with well formed intellectual team of director, cast and crew. Known for mass alluring titles and complete rough-action-masala films, Mega camp is seeing a new young hero Varun Tej with altogether a different taste. ‘Mukunda’ was also a class film with different subject but a poor debut. This did not stop Varun from experimenting and very immediately ‘Kanche’ made in World War 3 backdrop is a brave move.

Present generation audience and their tastes are varying dynamically. So, there is no hard and fast rule to consider Mega Fans only as mass lovers. Although disturbed with ‘Bruce Lee’ average performance at Box Office, currently Mega Fans are eagerly waiting for ‘Kanche’ to grace the theaters on 22nd of this month. Despite presence of two medium films ‘Raju Gari Gadi’ and ‘Columbus’ on the same Dasara day, enthusiasm is high for Krish and Varun Tej film because of its backdrop and newly treated romance.

In sync with quality craze built around, ‘Kanche’ buyers are releasing the movie in decent number of theaters. Even in Overseas, there will be a smart release in nearly 130 screens which is so good for hero of Varun Tej scale. Of course, ‘Kanche’ stands more on Krish brand value and partially the Mega factor.

Ramcharan New Movie On Hold!

The dismal result for ‘Bruce Lee’ has made Ram charan to go under severe stress. Though collections are proving to be not so bad and sure the product can be called as average but ‘Bruce Lee’ hasn’t met the commercial expectations Charan has set with earlier blockbusters. Moreover, the movie has released amidst huge expectations which enhanced the overall damage.

Anyways, Charan was little hurried to wrap up ‘Bruce Lee’ and this can be the reason why Vytla, Kona and Gopi did not get enough time to tighten many loopholes in the story and script. Why Charan flurries up only at peak time after hibernating for months and months is a question which Fans want to hear an answer for their star. Apparently, ‘Thani Oruvan’ remake is the next assignment before Charan and shooting has to be commenced from December.

If reports are to be believed, Chiranjeevi informed Charan seriously not to behave hastily and take decisions in a push situation. ‘Thani Oruvan’ is in fact a project with major significance lied on villain’s characterization done by Aravind Swamy in original. How can the same be meta-phrased to Telugu version with Charan as hero?

‘There is lot more changes referred to Tamil script and only once when Surender Reddy can put up a comfortable work Telugu version can take off till then it is on hold. This might delay the remake happenings for a while and more information can be available later,’ a Mega family source informed.

Sundeep to Romance Taapsee!

From quite a while, both Sundeep Kishan and Taapsee Pannu stood away from films. Sundeep lost the game with ‘Tiger’ while Taapsee who although proved to be a great performer with deadly movie ‘Ganga’ became busy with Tamil and Hindi assignments. Good news is that, they two are getting together as a pair for new untitled bi-lingual film to be directed by CV Kumar.

Although Sundeep and Taapsee were common casting in ‘Gundello Godari,’ they did not have scenes to share the screen space. ‘This is the first time I am going to romance her. I know her from a long time and pretty excited to work with her,’ Sundeep says. Without revealing much of details regarding this science fiction project, he adds that the script is so thrilling and will be a different project.

Meanwhile, Sundeep is also working on ‘Okka Ammai Tappa’ under Raja Simha direction. Sundeep Kishan  lost the acceleration after commercially successful ‘Venkatadri Express’ and science fiction is altogether a new genre which he is experimenting now.

It’s Good Roles Over Films For Seerat Kapoor

Actress Seerat Kapoor, who awaits the release of forthcoming Telugu romantic drama ‘Columbus’, is not in a hurry to accept every offer that comes her way because she prefers picking good roles over films.

“I don’t like to rush. ‘Columbus’ is my third film in two years. I’m happy with the kind of different roles I’ve done. I’m being choosy and picking roles on the basis of my experience in the industry and I want to continue doing so,” Seerat told IANS.

The “Run Raja Run” actress says it’s important for her that each character she chooses supersedes the one she has done before.

“My benchmark for a new role is that it excites me and should give me the feeling that it’s better than my last role,” she said.

Her latest film “Columbus”, co-starring Sumanth Ashwin and Mishti Chakraborty, releases in cinemas on Thursday.

“It’s a journey of three characters that undergo a process of self-realization, allowing them to discover emotions they’ve never experienced before. The story is so unique, it stunned me when I heard it for the first time,” she said.

“When producer M.S Raju narrated the script, I could visualize the film in my head,” said Seerat, who didn’t mind sharing the screen space with Mishti.

“Both our characters were written so beautifully with ample scope for performance, there was no insecurity whatsoever to work alongside her,” she said.

Paired with Sumanth for the first time, Seerat said he was a very encouraging co-actor.

“He’s not a dominating actor. He was warm and very cordial to work with,” said Seerat, who has been getting offers from Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi industries too.

Pawan Kalyan landed in Gujarat yesterday and today he is shooting there along with the unit members of Sardar Gabbar Singh.

Andhra Pradesh Ministers met him recently and invited him to attend the foundation laying ceremony of Amaravathi capital city near Vijayawada but the actor ignored their invitation and left for Gujarat’s shooting spot as per his earlier planned schedule.

It is unlikely that he would be flying down to Amaravathi on October 22nd as he has reportedly decided not to attend the ceremony at all.

Let the government do their work and other dignitaries enjoy the ceremony, he reportedly told his close members, when asked about his plans on 22nd October.

Sardar Gabbar Singh is being directed by Bobby and produced by Sharat Marar and Eros International.

Villains are the nasty characters on screen and the actors who do such roles have to do action sequences which might be risky. Bruce Lee movie’s villain Arun Vijay, son of senior actor Vijay Kumar has suffered injuries during the shoot of his Kannada debut film ‘Chakravyuha’.

He posted a stylish picture of himself on his Twitter handle and says that beneath the glasses he has two fractured nasal bones, one bruised eye and a cheek due to an accident on the sets while shooting for ‘Chakravyuha’. he also shared a medical report of CT Brain which confirms the fractures to his nasal bones.

Arun Vijay first got noticed as the villain in Ajith’s Tamil movie ‘Ennai Arindhal’ and since then the actor has been doing roles in the three South Film Industries. His debut movie as a hero is also going to hit screens soon.

Even after trying out different subjectslike Beeruva and commercial subjects like Tiger, young hero Sundeep Kishan has not managed to score a solid hit after the superb success of Venkatadri Express. After Tiger’s failure, Sundeep slowed down on Telugu films and signed a couple of Tamil projects.

While Sundeep’s Tamil film with Regina, an experimental dark comedy thriller, is waiting for its release since a long time, the young hero again signed an experimental film under Pizza producer CV Kumar’s direction. The film will be made in Telugu and Tamil and it is said to be a science fiction. In this film, Sundeep will be seen romancing the curly beauty Taapsee.

Sundeep is thrilled with the film’s interesting script and he is also excited to pair with Taapsee. The couple earlier acted together in Lakshmi Manchu’s Gundello Godaari, but did not romance each other. The film’s shooting will kick start in November and Race Gurram villain Ravi Kishan will play the antagonist’s role.

NTR Plans Teaser Ahead Of Balayya

Dassera is just a couple of days away and many film-makers are planning to release the teasers of their films.

First among them will be Balakrishna’s Dictator and NTR Jr’s Nannaku Prematho. However, NTR has decided to get his teaser released a day ahead of his uncle and he has already announced the muhurtam too.

The film has Rakul Preet playing the heroine opposite NTR and the film is being directed by Sukumar. And the time set for teaser release is 6.30 pm on October 21.

On the other hand, Balakrishna’s Dictator will be out on October 22. This time around, NTR seems to be decided on promoting his film in competition with that of his uncle’s.

He has released the first look poster and stills with perfect planning. Also, the shooting is progressing fast and it is being readied for a Sankranthi release.

If the film doesn’t become a hit, then he will be left way behind other heroes and NTR is well aware of that. So, he seems to be planning way ahead to make sure that he keeps up the enthusiasm among his fans.

Meanwhile, Dictator is being directed by Sri Vass and the film is in Pongal race for 2016.

Overseas Audience Discard Bruce Lee

Some times hype really kills a film, especially if it does not match up to the expectations of the audiences.
Now, Bruce Lee was hyped a lot. For starters, it had Ram Charan and the new IT girl of Tollywood Rakul Preet Singh.

Then the biggest bumper offer for mega fans was the cameo by megastar himself. Though it was said that he will have at least 15 minutes in the film, the role was cut short to around 3 minutes finally.

Unfortunately, the story by Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan was a huge disaster and Sreenu Vaitla’s ’80s style didn’t help either.

Though Ram Charan is the only saving grace of the film, the film did not impress the audiences, both mass and class. And that was the case not only in both Telugu-speaking states, but also in the US market.

In the past, Ram Charan’s Govindudu Andari Vaadele made $ 666,827 and now Bruce Lee which released last week with a lot of hungama and was released in a lot of theatres managed to make only $600000.

Though Sreenu Vaitla is a salable director in the US, he shocked his fans with the badly made film.

And here’s a quick look at what other Telugu releases made in recent times…

kabali

The Tamil and Telugu distribution rights of superstar Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Kabali’, a directorial of Pa Ranjith, have been bagged by CineGalaxy Inc – one of the prime distributor of Indian films overseas.

“We are proud to be associated with this project. After distributing successful films such as ‘Manam’, ‘Power’ and ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoy’, we are really looking forward to release ‘Kabali’,” read an official statement.

“Kabali”, which will see Rajinikanth play an ageing don, co-stars Radhika Apte, Dhanshikaa, Dinesh, Kalaiarasan and Ritwika amongst several others.

The makers of “Kabali”, which is being produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu, are currently shooting here in a studio.

Also, the distribution company will soon present the much-awaited project of the new and anticipated combination of director Sukumar and actor Jr. NTR along with “Manam” director Vikram Kumar’s “24”, starring Suriya and Samantha.

AP Government’s Special Treatment to KCR

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reportedly told his cabinet colleagues to treat his Telangana Counterpart as Special Guest. He clearly mentioned that there should be no mistake in treating the neighbouring Chief Minister with biggest respect.

He told them clearly he took the first step in inviting KCR so that the differences between both the states will erase and they will cooperate each other in development. However according to the schedule confirmed so far, there is no slot for KCR to speak at the event which comes as a huge disappointment.

On the other side, Telangana CM first thought of coming to Amaravati on road via Suryapeta. But Andhra Pradesh government asked to him to come on helicopter as the route will be jam-packed with traffic. Accordingly KCR will be going on a chopper that day.

I’m Not Bigger Than Baahubali Success -Prabhas

“If Rajamouli is heart and brain of Baahubali, producers are skeleton and fans are blood”, says Prabhas, who got excited that his magnum opus just finished 100-day run at Indian box office. Okay, what’s Prabhas then for the film?

Hunk hero Prabhas feels that Rajamouli deserves all the laurels for “Baahubali” success but the simplistic director gives credits to the whole team. “An actor is never bigger than the film’s success. I’m not bigger than Baahubali. It’s the whole team that worked tiresomely for years that spelled this victory. So, I don’t want to walk away with credits”, Prabhas adds.

Though Prabhas became a National Star with this film, he is too modest, saying “I got calls from Amitabh sir and Ranbir Kapoor and I’m happy. But there is long way to achieve to become a national star”. As the film gets ready to be screened on TV on October 24th in Hindi and Telugu, Prabhas says, he’s expecting the film to become blockbuster on television too.

Why Did You Make Brahmi A Monkey?

Share

1

The most awkward, hurting and unusual comedy scene we have seen on comedy king Brahmandam is making him act like a monkey. Director Sreenu Vaitla and writer Kona Venkat are getting serious blasting from the fans of this iconic comedian.

In almost every film since “Dhee”, Vaitla is making best use of Brahmi. All the time, this comedian is considered as second hero of Sreenu Vaitla’s movies. Ditto applies for Kona Venkat too. The writer-director duo have explored the best of Brahmi in “Dookudu” where they made him show different emotions of a human, as our comedian pops up various different emotions on his face while Mahesh Babu talks about them. Developed on similar lines, in “Bruce Lee” they made Brahmi give expressions for various moods of a monkey; unhappy monkey, a monkey suffering from fever, excited monkey, food-less monkey and others.

Does that sound like an avoidable thing? What made Vaitla and Kona write such scene and make Brahmi perform it? On the flip side, Brahmi excelled even in those nonsensical demands of Vaitla and his writer. We wonder how come Ram Charan is staring at this scene rather asking to delete it, for the sake of Brahmandam.
