Vinavayya Ramayya Movie Review – 3/5

Share

Telugu cinema is no stranger to child actors-turned-heroes. In fact, many of the present star heroes have had proved their mettle as child actors. Naga Anvesh, who is seen in a slew of films as child actor including Venkatesh’s popular film Intlo Illalu, Vantitlo Priyuralu, is the latest entrant joining the club.

He’s romancing with Kruthika who shot to fame with Venkatesh-starrer Drushyam. The duo’s combination managed to caught the attention and the film’s ensemble cast, top notch technicians and trailer, songs rang a bell.

Story :

The film narrates the love story of Chanti (Naga Anvesh). Chanti, Jahnavi, are childhood friends and neighbours in the village Veerayyapalem. Chanti has fallen for Jahnavi since school days and is in deeply love with her. Whereas Jahnavi, a traditional girl and father Chowdary’s (Prakash Raj’s) darling daughter, treats him as good friend.

Chowdary is respected and feared by the villagers. The life of Chanti and Jahnavi turns topsy-turvy due to an unexpected incident. What forms rest is how Chanti and Jahnavi overcame it and how Chanti wins the heart of Jahnavi and his father Chowdary.

Performances:

Notwithstanding that it’s maiden movie as hero, Naga Anvesh did a decent job and stood out with his performance. His acting, dialogue delivery, fights, dances, body language are quite impressive. It’s no exaggeration that he stole the show and even dominated in few scenes while sharing the screen space with senior actors.

Heroine Kruthika is easy on eyes and also showcased her acting prowess. The two talented youngsters would go a long way in the industry provided they choose wise scripts.

The roles of Brahmanandam, Ali, Saptagiri are not so prominent in the film. It’s visible that they’re recruited for padding. Had the writer penned good roles, comedy tracks for them, they’d have done better job. Yet, they’re not disappointing either. The only thing is that they could have done better.

Prakash Raj is confined to small yet powerful role as heroine’s father and the head of the village. He lived upto its role. Scenes involving Prakash Raj, Kruthika and Nag Anvesh tug at one’s heartstrings.

Technicalities:

Producer Krishna Reddy seems to have not compromised on the technicalities making the film rich and visual treat. Thanks to Rasool Ellore for cranking the camera well and capturing the picturesque locales. Senior director Ram Prasad’s knack over the various crafts is conspicuous. Anup Rubens’ soothing music, timely back ground score works in favour of the movie. Crisp editing would have made this movie a better experience.

Thumbs Up:

  • Naga Anvesh, Kruthika
  • Dialogues
  • Screenplay

Thumbs Down

  • Weak second half
  • Predictable story

Analysis:

Although the story of Vinavayya Ramayya is simple and not so new, it’s the film’s fresh treatment laced with commendable screenplay makes the movie interesting. The first part of the movie is engaging, entertaining. The comedy enacted by Shakalaka Shankar worked well and the efforts of Brahmanandam, Ali, Sapthagiri to laugh audiences worked to an extent.

Entertainment portions in the first half are big advantage. As the story is unraveled, the narrative slow downs. Especially post interval, the movie is loaded with drama. Yet the pre-climax and climax portions pick up the film and takes it to a happy ending. One best thing about Vinavayya Ramayya is that it’s flawless when it comes to logics.

Draggy scenes that come in the early second half is the film’s biggest stumbling block. Too much of drama and predictable story are the other drawbacks. Also, had there been any proper justification for the film’s title (Vinavayya Ramayya), it’d have been good. Barring these, the film has all elements to enthrall regular moviegoers. Amidst a cluster of stereotype movies, the sincere love story of Chanti is like a breathe of fresh air.

Verdict: Decent Debut

Unbelievable TRPs For Baahubali

When the reports emerged that popular news channel TV5 shelled out an astonishing 1.5 crores to grab the audio launch telecast rights, many in the industry were in a state of shock while many others even ridiculed the channel’s audacity to invest such a huge amount to telecast the audio launch event.

But what happened in the background with the Television Rating Points (TRPs) will stun all the detractors and leave them in silence. For 13th June, TV5 channel recorded a staggering 47.5 TRP and zoomed past its rivals and stood at the summit. Other popular news channel TV9 clocked 6.35 TRP, showing the sensational record TV5 created just by associating with Baahubali.

Though the channel authorities faced a huge set back with the audio launch date and venue being altered to 13th and in Tirupati, the audiences’ craze for the film and that most awaited event never diminished. Apart from the satellite telecast, Baahubali’s webcasting through YouTube also created a major record with a never seen before viewership.

Sreemanthudu Will Have Less Action

Share

sriman3

In the past, for Mirchi, Koratala Siva used dialogues like ‘katti padite naa kanna baaga yevadu vaadaledu’. Well, news is that Mahesh’s film will have very less action.

Usually, one sees a lot of bloodshed in Prabhas, Balakrishna and NTR’s films. However, that style does not suit Mahesh and talk is that Koratala Siva will be using very little bloodshed as it does not suit Mahesh’s style anyways.

Prince is used to taking on his villains in style. So there will be least bloodshed in Sreemanthudu say industry insiders. Mahesh too will be presented in a neat manner we are told.

Since Koratala Siva is making a film after a very long time, he will surely make a good film this time around and since Mahesh is looking for a hit, he will put in his best too. And it’s happy time for audience anyways.

Shocking News for KCR: Centre forwards ‘Section 8’ note to Attorney General

Share

kcr11

TRS chief KCR seems to be in a shocking mode now. If reports are to be believed, then there has been some brisk movement reportedly regarding the handing over of law & order to the common governor of AP & TS at Central level. In a way, if this is true, it is a big blow to TRS Government.

It is a known fact that this note was put under the back burner when TRS MP’s pleaded with Rajnath Singh a year ago saying they will uphold security in Hyderabad and asked Centre not to move forward regarding powers to Governor. The Centre acquiesced while AP Government too was silent on this matter.

Now sources say that with reports of ‘crucial’ evidence regarding phone tapping being sent by AP to Centre, the Union Government wants to put an end to the ongoing drama. The Centre has reportedly forwarded this note to the Attorney General of India for his legal opinion yesterday.

Once the AG clears it, Modi government is expected to send this to the Governor Narsimhan for action on Section 8 which effectively transfers powers from Telangana government to the constitutional head in Raj Bhavan regarding law & order in Hyderabad, specifically GHMC jurisdiction.

Reel Talk: A Sensuous Autobiography?

sona

Does the name ‘Sona’ ring a bell? She is the actress who filed a complaint against SP Charan, son of SP Balu, citing harassment and inappropriate behavior by Charan at a party.

Later, she also filed a complaint against Tamil director Venkat Prabhu saying that he failed to return the money he took from her as advance amount for making a film for her.

Sona has been around in both Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu industries for close to nearly fifteen years now. She is noted for her vamp roles, sensuous on-screen appearances apart from a couple of B-grade flicks.

Sona sometime back said that she was writing her autobiography. She has now finished writing it and says that she will also turn it into a movie.

“Many Malayalam producers are asking for the rights to my story. But I am keen on giving it to a Tamil producer. If nobody comes forward, I will produce it myself,” said Sona.

The story will contain anecdotes from her experiences with those in the industry. Must make for some pretty spicy reading!

Krishnamma Kalipindhi Iddarini Review – 3/5

Share

Story:

Krishna (Sudhir Babu) and Radha (Nanditha) are childhood friends who grow and study together. The go to same school and college. Krishna falls for Radha and when he is about to propose her, destiny force their separation and Krishna part ways with Radha for a career.

They once again meet in engineering but when he gets a good job. But all the times, destiny has different plans for Krishna. Rest of the story is all about what happens to their love and why they are being separated for so many times.

Performances:

Krishnamma Kalipindhi Iddarini will end up as the most memorable performance of Sudhir Babu in his little career so far. He did a very good job in emotional scenes that come in the climax. Nanditha is cute and complemented Sudhir Babu very much.

They share a very good chemistry. Pragathi is superb as an evil mother. Rest of the characters are fine. Sapthagiri and Posani were forced to take care of the comedy but they are totally wasted. Rana and Naga Chaitanya appeared in little cameos.

Technical Performances:

Director R.Chandru managed to showcase love very well in different time zones. The emotional content is very well handled with the only problem of screenplay going haywire in the second half. The director unnecessarily tried to embed unwanted commercial elements which backfired. Some of the songs totally interrupt the flow of the film.

Despite the issues, the first half of the film is very vibrant with the age old college love story while second half has good emotional depth. Cinematography is excellent. Music is good but the placement of songs is a big let down. Production values of Lagadapati Sridhar are very good. Editing should have been a lot better in the second half. The college scenes were quite lengthy and can be chopped off.

Plus Points:

  •  Chemistry of the lead pair
  •  Good Emotional Scenes
  •  Climax Twist

Minus Points:

  • Unnecessary Commercial elements
  • Dragged Screenplay in second half

Final Say:

Krishnamma Kalipindhi Iddarini with some shortcomings here and there, will end up as an average fare for the audience. Those in love and admire love, will enjoy the high emotional content over different timelines.

It’s Not A Remake Of ‘Varsham’

Share

sudeer (1)

Sudheer Babu has signed a Bollywood film ‘Bhaagi’ in which he will play the lead role along with Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor.

There were rumors that ‘Bhaagi’ will be the remake of yesteryear Tollywood blockbuster, ‘Varsham’ which was the first big hit for handsome hunk Prabhas. Of course, Gopichand with his outstanding performance as the villain was also instrumental in the movie’s success.

It was thought Sudheer Babu would be reprising the role of Gopichand in ‘Bhaagi’. ButSudheer has given a clarification on the same.

He said that ‘Bhaagi’ is not a remake of Varsham and that it is a triangular love story. That should put all rumors to rest.
